Cs4 full screen mode w/ menu bar no longer can scroll picture off edges

In earlier versions' full screen mode with menu bar, if I zoom into a photo I can scroll the edge of the photo away from the windows edge, making it easier to select and work on the corners of the photo.
In cs4, I can't get that to work. Any ideas?

Works for me... What graphics card? Screen resolution? General computer info?

  • Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar view mode appears with Blue Background??

Can someone please help me figure out what I did exactly to unintentionally change the "Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar" view mode so that it now appears with a Blue Background, instead of the default gray one....and better yet, can someone let me know how I can switch it back to displaying the default gray background instead?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

    >let me know how I can switch it back to displaying the default gray background
SHIFT-Click the Paint Bucket pool in that area using the gray of your choice (e.g. 132, 132, 132).
(That's probably what you did to turn it blue.)
Or, more drastically, you can trash your preferences.

  • Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar -blue

For some reason the 'Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar' option has a blue background now. The background used to be gray, and then one time i opened up Photoshop and now the background is blue. It is very annoying and affects my painting. The grey was neutral, now it is blue so my colors are going to appear off.
If you don't know what i mean: Open Photoshop, make a canvas (new image) Hit the key "F" on your keyboard 2 times so the canvas takes up the entire page but the menu bars are still up. The color around the canvas is Blue, when it has ALWAYS been gray.
Please someone tell me how to fix this.

I found out a solution. If anybody ever encounters this problem just right click on the background and select Gray. :)

  • PS CS6, Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar, Zoom, Brush, Auto Pan

There seems to be a functionality that was lost (or I can't find it) in CS6 that was in earlier versions.  When I am In Full Screen Mode with Menu and the image I am editing is zoomed in, I used to be able to shift+click my brush to extend a line.  That line would automatically reposition the image when I got to the edge of the screen.  Does anyone know if that functionality is gone or do I need to turn "something on”?
    1. I open a file
    2. I ender Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar
    3. I enlarge the photo so that its boundaries are beyond the edge of the screen
    4. I enter mask mode (doesn't matter what mode)
    5. With my brush tool I start to paint a line by holding the "shift" key and "left-click"
    6. I get to the edge of the screen
    * this is where PS would reposition the image automatically and I could keep painting my line

Which operating system are you using?

  • CS4 Full Screen Mode

In CS4 Full Screen Mode adjustments to layers /filters etc. can cause odd looking grayed out file name at top of window. how to avoid?

I turned off a whole load of features in my nVidia control panel and the problem I had with top menus after using full screen mode magically disappeared. I don't know which one did the trick and I'm not sure whether I can be bothered to find out. Solutions to CS4 problems just get more and more exotic.
On the whole, despite new video drivers, new tablet drivers, XPPro SP3 upgrade, latest DirectX and removal of 3rd party plugins I still find CS4 clunky and slow in comparison to CS3. Up until LR2 (another disaster on my machine but I'm not alone) and CS4 I had always praised Adobe for producing exceptionally stable, bug free software out of the box. These two releases are now just about the worst software releases I have ever encountered. We just shouldn't have to muck about with all these tortuous or drastic ( clean installs of the operating system ) experiments just to get these relatively undemanding applications to work.

  • I magnify the screen, then clicked View/Full Screen. Now menu bar is hidden.

I usually have to magnify web pages to see better. I also clicked View / Full Screen. Now I can only use the keyboard.
What are the commands to reverse this ?

As you've no doubt noticed, Firefox's zoom feature works on a site-by-site basis. You can zoom '''all''' sites' using this add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]. After setting your Global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
After installing NoSquint, click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
If you don't have the Add-on Bar displayed, you can right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but I wouldn't go much higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
    Hope this helps.

  • X800-XT Mac Edition and Photoshop CS2 in Full Screen Mode

I recently installed a new ATI X800XT AGP Retail card into my Dual 2-Gig G5 Mac. I have (2) Sony CRTs connected to this card - a 21" Artisan and a 24" GDM-FW900. So far I have only found one problem and this involves Full-Screen Mode in Photoshop CS2 under a certain condition.
All of the following conditions must be met to reproduce this anomoly, but it is at least consistent and happens 100% of the time. Here are the conditions:
    (1) Open any image in Photoshop CS2
    (2) Zoom in on the image until the image area exceeds the boindaries of the screen.
    (3) Go into Full-Screen Mode (without Menu Bar showing) but hitting the "F" key twice.
    (4) Hit the Tab key to hide toolbars (the image should now fill the screen and extend off all four borders.
    (5) Now - holding down the spacebar to get the hand tool - pan the umage around the screen with the grabber hand. You will notice that the image will not refresh properly.
    (6) One other condition must be met - you must perform this while on the main monitor which normally has the OSX Menu Bar present. Note: changing the menu bar to the other monitor causes this problem to migrate to that monitor only.
    Can anyone else reproduce this?
    G5-Dual-2Gig   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   4.5 Gig Ram

Post this over at the Adobe forums to see if it's just a CS2 problem.
Also you might want to file a bug report with them.

  • Full Screen mode feedback

I love that Flash CC now has a Full Screen mode. However, a couple of minor oversights keep me from using it regularly: I can't see tabs of the other documents I currently have open. In order to switch documents, I have to switch back to regular viewing mode, then figure out which tab I need. In Full Screen Mode With Menu Bar I can't see the hierarchy of Scene/Symbol/Group/Drawing Objects I'm currently working in, this is extremely confusing and keeps me from using that mode.
Another side thought for improvement: in Full Screen Mode (without menu bar), I should be able to move to the cursor to the top of the screen to make the menu bar temporarily appear. Unless I have all of my keyboard shortcuts memorized, I can't perform most features without switching to a viewing mode that has the menu bar. Also, the Timeline, Library and other panels should be visible until I choose to press F4 to hide them. Currently the default is to hide everything until I press F4 to show the panels, but I'd prefer to see them until I choose otherwise.

  • Full screen mode annoyingly pops up...Help!

I usually use photoshop (cs6) in full screen mode with menu bar. Often I use the window+d shortcut to return to the desktop. From here, whatever window I open, ie my browser, explorer, etc, photoshop pops up in the background minus all the menu bars. This is very annoying because it means I cannot work with files on my desktop. Is there a fix to this? I really hope so. I've included an example below.

I know this may sound strange, but see if you notice any difference if after you open a document you float the document window and then go to fullscreen in photoshop.

  • Large gray 'band' along bottom of monitor when in full screen mode

No doubt this is something that's very simple to resolve but...
For some reason I'm having a large gray empty 'band' (i.e. rectangular strip) appear along the bottom of my monitor's window in "Full Screen Mode With Menu Bar."
This has only started happening in the last couple of days and I don't recall it ever happening before (no matter what screen mode I've been in).
The only way I've been able to temporarily eliminate this is to replace my Photoshop preference files from a backup.
Again... probably some very simple setting... but even then... I don't see what I've been doing recently that I haven't done thousands of times before that would cause this.
The last time it occurred I had simply dragged a layer from one file to another file and BAM... the gray strip appeared again when I went to full screen.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

  • Full Screen Mode with Window Tabs? (Mac)

I have never been able to use Full Screen Mode / Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar because my Window Tabs disappear.
Until now I have ignored this but I really want to start making the most of my screen space. I don't understand how people can go into full screen mode without tabs of their open documents. It makes the experience completely useless to me and I can't believe I can't find any solutions online. I feel like I am overlooking a simple button somewhere on the screen thinking "surely Adobe would include this!?"
    Please help.
I am currently on 13 inch MacBook Pro using CS6 beta.

Thanks for the reply, but I already know of this 'workaround', and it isn't a solution for me. There is no functionality in cycling through windows with no idea when you will arrive at the correct PSD. I usually have quite a few open at the same time and I am constantly skipping between them nice and simply with the tabs...Please Adobe just add an option for tabs, all the other components of the layout are optional in full screen, why not tabs?
Putting in a feature request for tabs in full screen mode is a good idea. One thing Photoshop could do in full screen mode is reveal the menu bar and tabs when the mouse is near the top of the screen. This is sort of an ad-hoc standard in tabbed apps like Chrome and Firefox. Even Adobe Photoshop Lightroom reveals the menu bar in this way, but Photoshop continues to use the same full screen behavior that it had back in the 1990s, when it was one of the few full-screen apps available.
One workaround is to turn off Window > Application Frame, and when you're in full screen mode use Lion's Mission Control to pick a specific window. This works even better if you use or assign a shortcut to view the windows of a single application.

As a career-long Mac-user I am not accustomed to tabs and therefore don’t need or use them.
Tabs have been in Mac apps, such as Apple Safari and Final Cut Pro, for many years.

  • My bookmarks bar and toolbar do not drop down when Safari is in full-screen mode.

I just updated to Safari 5.1.5 this morning as well as OS 10.7.3 and when in full-screen mode, the bookmarks bar as well as the toolbar will not drop down.  Once I escape then I can see them fine.  I'm also having issues with dragging or dropping ANYTHING. A gost image of what I am trying to move shows, and will not go away unless I force quit Mail or Safari. Needless to say, what I ws attempting to drag and drop does not take effect.

Click the title bar one time. The gray area of the window at the very top of your screen in full screen mode.
Not sure what you mean by, "anything", when dragging and dropping. Right or control click the content. There may be an option for saving that data for you from the menu.

  • Full screen mode not working in Mountain Lion

I'm using the new Retina Macbook Pro. The full screen mode to preview pictures and movies is not working; the dock still remains open when the full screen is open. I have to manually hide the dock by pressing command + D and do the same to open the dock again. This doesnt seem to an OS issue because my Macbook Air, which is also running Mountain Lion is doing just fine. I can preview a picture and the dock automatically hides.
Has anyone experienced the same issue? What is the fix for this problem?

Bingo! Problem solved. I didn't realize that you could "right click" the mouse over the "resize" icon in full screen mode. When I did that I found I was in the tiny postcard mode. Selecting "full screen" got me back to where I used to be..enjoying the tv shows in full screen mode. Kinda of weird. Choosing "full screen" from the menu bar didn't make the show full "pictured" though I was in full screen mode. But while in the full screen mode, I could right-click and choose "full screen" and there I be, watching a show in "full pictured". Learned something new.

  • Full Screen Mode Not Working In iTunes

With the latest iTunes update, when I play anything in "Full Screen" mode, I get the black background with this tiny (smaller than a postcard) picture. Anyone else having the same problems? Any suggestions? This problem never happened before. Seems to be related to the recent update. I think the update is telling my computer to act like an iPod, which unfortunately it is. Appreciate any help. Standing by.
