CS4 - Importing AVIs created with Matrox Axio
Hi
Until recently I used CS4 with Matrox's Axio hardware. I've ditched this setup as the issues between the two were damaging my mental health .
So, now I'm using CS4 standalone. Trouble is, I can't open some of my old 'Axio' projects as CS4 can't identify some of the HDV clips that were originally imported using Matrox settings. These files have been created as 2 pieces: Filename.avi and Filename.Stereo1.wav by CS4/Axio - and when trying to import them CS4 complains that 'The selected file cannot be linked becasue its type (audio) does not match the original file's type (audio and video).
I've installed Matrox's VFW codecs from the Axio 4.1 package - but that hasn't changed the issue.
Thoughts? Help?
Thanks.
Recapture, rebuild, take this as a lesson learned about using Matrox.
To paraphrase Nike: Just don't do it.

PrPro CS4 imported avi squeezed to 4:3
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and a very casual user of PrPro so bear with me.
I am a camera operator on movies and TV shows and am trying to collect clips of work via the internet and edit them in Premiere Pro. I currently have footage in a variety of formats including VOB, MKV and Xvid AVI and am using River Past Video Cleaner to convert them to AVI. The file is being converted to AVI and I have tried a variety of codecs including DV, Cinepak and others but it always results in the images being squeezed from 16:9 into a 4:3 frame (black bars on left and right) when viewed in PrPro.
I know this is not the best method and welcome any advice. What tis the best type of file to use in PrPro? Which is the simpleist to convert? Should I not be using PrPro for this at all?
Thanks for your help,
Spencer
PrPro CS4 V4.0As an aside, you might want to update CS4 to the latest version, CS4.2.1. One of the advantages that it gives will be the Importing of most FLV files, and also the Importing of 100% DVD-compliant (very important) VOB's. I think that both of those came in with CS4.1, but going with the latest will get the full feature-set.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - one frequent contributor here, RoboDog 2, has made some lists of Internet available Assets for testing of various formats/CODEC's. Do not recall a full chart of resources, and they are probably scattered about through multiple, separate threads, but if you look at his Profile, you can likely track down some of those threads. Also, he might drop by (he's about today), and be compelled to do a more formal chart of such resources from his notes.
[Edit] Nevermind. The RoboDog "is in the house." Not sure that he'll appreciate my making extra work for him though...

How do I import AVI video with stereo audio (and keep it that way)?
Today I just discovered that all the AVI video with stereo audio I've ever imported into a Premiere Pro CS6 project has been mysteriously converted to mono. And I can't find any import setting anywhere that enable me to change this.
Here's the deal...
I've have an AVI file with stereo audio (the file is actually a stereo sound test that I downloaded to prove that I wasn't imagining things). On my hard drive, I right-click and view the properties:
Video
Length: 00:00:36
Frame width: 320
Frame height: 240
Frame rate: 25 frames/second
Audio
Bit rate: 128kbps
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate: 44 kHz
I click on it to play and listen with headphones--everything is playing in the correct part of the stereo spectrum. Then, I import it to Premiere, click the file name in the left content menu, and check the properties, suddenly they read:
Type: AVI Movie
File Size: 1.1 MB
Image Size: 320 x 240
Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 16 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
Total Duration: 00:00:36:15
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Sure enough, I drag it into the sequence, listen to it, and it's indeed playing mono. Outside of Premiere, the original source file still reads and plays correctly with stereo sound.
When I import stereo WAVs and MP3s, it keeps the original stereo channels without me having to do anything special. I even just imported the same exact file as a MOV with stereo audio, and it showed up in Premiere as:
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
What is going on here with AVIs? Am I doing something wrong? Are there settings I'm missing somewhere?
(And before anyone suggests I only use MOV in the future... that's not exactly the answer I'm looking for.)Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.
Good luck,

Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
Thank you in advance
LeonardoNow I show you details of 2 files:

Consequently, as you can see, they have both nearly the same information
Both video clips have the following audio codec:
AAC
In the folder where all raw video clips exist there are a few new files with the codec ending: .AVD ("the name of the file".AVD)
But the 2 video clips mentioned above does not have any files like .AVD oder something else like that. But the first one works and the second one doesnt work. -
Importing site created with other software
Hi,
I Anyone knows if Dreamweaver can import a site or pages
created with other editors, particular with Yahoo SiteBuilder, and
if it can, does it have an option of converting html code into
whatever coding it uses?
I have site site coded with free Yahoo SB and their coding
has a number of problems: such as overlapping text if viewer
increases text size (due to absolute position of text boxes) and
absense of direct access to html edit.DW does not have the "Convert from garbage to valid HTML"
option, although
it would be nice.
Yes, that's what he means.

Import avi video with uncompressed PCM audio
I am unable to import into iMovie 10 or FCP X the audio portion of avi videos with uncompressed PCM audio. I just get the video and silence. They imported fine into previous versions of iMovie. Of course, I can use conversion programs to produce versions that import, but I have hundreds of hours of video in this format, so I would prefer not to have to do that. Is there a plug-in that would solve the problem?
Thank you for that info.

Importing songs created with Audacity
iTunes doesn't play or import songs created in Audacity. The songs were exported form Audacity as AIFF files. They play OK with QuickTime and RealPlayer, but not with iTunes. What am I doing wrong?
I have iTunes 6.0.5 and Audacity 1.2.4.Have you exported those files in 32 bit?
iTunes only accepts 8 and 16 bit AIFF files.
Check your Audacity preferences at 'file formats'. It may have a slightly different name, because I'm using the Dutch language version and can't see the description in English. It's the 3rd tab in the preferences.
Hope this helps.

Cannot import .avi files with 5.1 audio created in Premiere 2.0
Using Encore 2.0 when I attempt to import an .avi file I exported from Prem1ere 2.0 which was exported with 5.1 audio, I get an error message - "More that two audio channels for this type of encoding is not supported". Does Encore 2.0 not support 5.1 audio?
The SurCode plugin for Premiere really does represent amazing value for money. Dolby Digital 5.1 is a mandatory format for DVD-Video as well, meaning all players are required to be capable of decoding it. You will also be able to preview the encoded stream in Encore.
When using DTS, support is optional, which means that a DTS stream cannot be stream 1 in any title.
Also, support for DTS in Encore is in "passthrough" mode, IE "as is" and will not be audible in preview. Discs will burn true though. -
Error while importing theme created with Eclipse theme editor
Hi,
I am facing an error when I try to import a theme I created using the Eclipse Theme Editor plug-in. I created a theme and exported it. Then when I try to import it, I get the error that "its.zip was not found in the archive". I check the exported zip file for theme and I see that there is only one zip file inside it "portal.zip". But if I export a theme from the portal, I get three zip files inside the archive - portal.zip, its.zip and ur.zip.
Can't I use the theme I created using the plug-in in portal? Are they meant to be used in some other context? Or is there any setting to be done on the plug-in to make it generate the zip files - its and ur ?
Thanks in advance.

RanjithHi,
It is used to brand webdynpro. and its a stand alone tool.. no need of any plug ins....
This is the description I found under eclipse theme editor. its totally related to webdynpro.
SAP presents applications to users in the SAP Enterprise Portal (SAP EP). You can change user interface themes with the "Portal Theme Editor" that is part of the Enterprise System Administration role.
As some customers do not have the version of SAP Enterprise Portal that includes this Theme Editor , this version of the Theme Editor is offered as an unsupported, standalone tool from SDN.
The Eclipse Theme Editor can be used to brand Web Dynpro.
Comments and questions: Please use the Web Dynpro forum. Problems regarding the Eclipse Theme Editor reported via OSS will not be handled. As the tool comes as an unsupported version, bug fixes cannot be guaranteed in a timely fashion.
Release information: The Eclipse Theme Editor will be released for each SAP NetWeaver stack. Please note that you can only use the Theme Editor version compatible with the same version Web Dynpro (for example, the SAP NetWeaver Stack 9 Theme Editor is only compatible with SAP NetWeaver Stack 9 Web Dynpro). When you upgrade Web Dynpro to a higher stack, you must also upgrade the SAP NetWeaver Stack 9 Eclipse Theme Editor and your themes to the SAP NetWeaver stack on which your Web Dynpro applications are running.

CS4 projects in CS5 with Matrox
After one week of testing, I thought I could conclude that CS5 PP & AE were giving me a workable new production system.
I have got 12 Terabyte of CS4 projects I need to use.
Many of these projects now only work for 90%, but I could repair them a bit so CS5 would not crash etc.etc.
PP showed which Matrox plugin used to be at which spot and that it just wasn't working anymore.
Playback was possible and PP reacted on scrubbing and interface changes.
It was obvious the projects were a bit mutulated, but I could see what they used to be.
I also bought and installed Boris Continuum to compensate for the lost Matrox effects.
But now something terrible happened.
I opened an older PP project I was working on, but now the brand new PC has turned into the familiar nightmare mode again.
PP tells me the Matrox effects are missing. Not so very nice, but as I said, I can fix that somewhat.
However, somehow PP now has become horribly sluggish with CS4 projects.
PP does not react on mouseclicks like it should.
The output image hardly updates.
I MUST remove the non-working plugin references, in stead of just disabeling them in the effect tab.
I can not see, which plugin was on those exact spots, it just says Unknown so I need my old computer to figure out how to repair things.
The old PC reference is not an option, as my boss wants me to throw it out.
I find myself in deep trouble.
I convinced my boss, not to buy an Avid, as we have 12 Terabyte of very precious CS4 projects.
I told him I could use Boris to emulate the lost Matrox effects.
Now I have this CS5 set, which does not even allow me to reconstruct CS4 projects.
I just don't know where to look for support anymore; Adobe will point to Matrox and Boris, and they will point in the same circular way.
Is there anyone who could say something constructive, in stead of "please report this as a bug"?I am in the fortunate position of never using the multitude of "special" effects with which the older versions of Matrox cluttered the Premiere installation. As a result, for me, the transition to CS5 using the Matrox beta drivers for my RTX2 has been no problem. I simply opened the couple of projects that I wished to work on in CS5 and went ahead. I deliberaterly waited until my "live" projects were at a minimum level before upgrading.
The new system is so fast and flexible, even with a three year old system and a GTS 250 graphics card, that I do not miss the Matrox acceleration in hardware at all. The few effects that I did use that are no longer available, e.g. Matrox Move and Scale, are now real-time with the Adobe version on my relatively feeble system.
Clearly, where a project uses Matrox effects which are no longer available, these will have to be removed and replaced, and it is probable that they will slow things down in the meantime. Once they are removed, there should be no more problem.
This is by no means the first thread I have seen relating this kind of problem. I wonder how the upgrade to CS5 was carried out? I always keep an image of the basic Windows set-up, immediately before I install Premiere, and always start from that. This ensures a clean start with no Matrox of Adobe debris around to cause any problems. I always install Premiere and the rest of my Adobe software, before the rest of the office software.
If Harm Millaard does pollute this thread with his customary abuse, my advice is to ignore him, and hope he goes away. -
Adobe premier cc stopped importing avi files with PCM audio codec, unsupported audio format
We were working just fine using Adobe premier pro cc, we captured videos in avi format video codec MJPEC audio codec PCM. Suddenly, I think after updating using cc, premier stopped importing any file giving the following Error message: The file contains an unsupported Audio format. We have captured more than 4000 hr from our library, and we are still capturing, our work is completlty freezed, we can not export to any format since we can not import in the first place. Our rivals in the market are taking our client and they are using old premier cs6 cracked version, this is ridiculous!! I installed adobe cs6 trial and it is working fine, this is very frustrating.
I tried to insert an image of what gspot is giving me but for a certain reason it is not uploaded. Please help. What MJPEG codec do you have installed?

IMovie"11 cannot play AVI created with Sony PlayMemoryHome
As I cannot make my Sony PCR-DC110 recognized on the Firewire port of my brand new iMac 21"5 (purchased last week, plus purchased Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter, plus purchased a 6-pin to 4-pin Firewire cable), I have captured many of my mini DV tapes on Sony Play Memory Home into a AVI file format.
1. iMovie 11 does not recognize this AVI file format, any clue ?
2. Is there a software able to convert from this AVI to an AVI understandable by iMovie ?
ThanksWill your videos play in Quicktime 10 (the version in Mavericks)? If yes, but after automatic conversion I think you can save the converted file and this will most likely be importable into iMovie.
If not there are lots of free and paid conversion apps. I use the free MediaConverter a lot (http://media-converter.sourceforge.net)
The free app VideoSpec (http://videospec.free.fr/english/) will show you the detailed format of your videos
Its a matter of trying out various formats until you find one that works - Unfortunately I have not seen a clear list of formats that are supported by iMovie 10.

Error using an imported archive created with Eclipse
Hi people,
i have a strange issue, and i have no clue where to search for an answer (except here )
In the past i used an imported archive for a java mapping in the Repository. The customers wants a change in this. I exported the imported archive, modified it in Ecplise, and imported it again. When i see the code of the imported archive, i can see my change.
When i test my Interface Mapping, i see the result of the old settings. Somehow, the new coding is not used.
Does this sounds familiair so someone? And/Or has anyone a good tip for me?
Thanks in advance,

Matrox Axio 2.0 with CS3
Good afternoon my fellow post-production soldiers,
I am currenlty running Premiere Pro 2.0 with Matrox Axio 2.0. Do I need to upgrade my Axio to run CS3 or will it run the version I have now?
Thanks!Probably a better question for Matrox, as they'll know the correct Matrox driver version to use for CS3.
