CS4 Importing Video Problem

Hello, so I just installed Photoshop CS4 on my laptop (I'm using windows)
So I decided to make a GIF from a video, but I've got a problem with it.
At the very first step, I can't import the video (file > import >  videos frames to layers) it says that 'Could not complete the Videos  Frames to Layers command because QuickTime version 7.1 or later is  required'
In fact, I've downloaded a QuickTime version 7.6.7
Can anyone help me please?

The file is compressed with a specific CoDec not supported by legacy QT or Windows media features and thus not readable in Photoshop. This pretty much affects allDicvX, Xvid and various other custom, out of spec MPEG-4 flavors that some digital phot cameras produce. It needs to be converted in another program, e.g. MPEGStreamclip, SUPER© and so on...

  • Importing video problem

I just recently made the big jump to using final cut pro. Right off the bat I'm having trouble with importing video. The camcorder connects and imports video fine with Imovie HD, but when i use final cut pro it says that there is no connection in the fire wire port therefore no camcorder to be connected to (but there is!). I'm using a canon hv40 tape camcorder. Some help on fixing this would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
That is unfortunate that you are having those problems with your Camera. I researched online and found that some users were experiencing the same issues with other programs(windows and apple based).
    For instance:
    http://ezinearticles.com/?Work-Around-of-Canon-HV---40-Capture-Problem&id=328432 5
There are several forum threads online that explain how to fix those problems.

  • [CS4] Importing video corrupts corrupts the video length

    Hello everyone,
I have a small problem, and I think it is caused by a driver malifuction either inside Premiere or in my system.
The problem is that no matter what type of encoded video I import into Premiere Pro, it corrupts it. I mean the audio is normal, and the video is like 1/1000 length of the normal one, and it doesn't match the audio at all.
it's quite hard to explain, so here's a link to a youtube video.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IhAbCMzc-8
I tried converting the same video into a bunch of different formats, it's the same.
Anyone could give me an advice? I tried reinstalling my VLC codec pack and suck, but it didin't help, update didin't help aswell.

With some converted media (often coming to me as DivX, or some similar, delivery-only format), I often get a Duration issue, though this is for both the Audio & Video, not just the Video. This happens at random, and does not seem predictable, to me. I found that if I first Imported the problem AV file (DV-AVI in my case) into PrElements, then did an non-Recompressed DV-AVI (just like the source footage), things then came into PrPro with the correct Duration. I've tried to find out what is different about the two files, but cannot find it - things just now work.
Not sure if that is what you are seeing, or something else, especially as you say that your Audio is the proper Duration.
My first course of action would be to make sure that my video driver was completely updated.
If that does not help, maybe give the full specs. of one of the problem files, and also the full system specs., especially the video sub-system and driver version/date.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • CS4 importing video frames to layers help ; no preview only white blank frames

everytime i import video frames to layers ,, i cant see any preview , theirs no images in the farmes,, all i can see is white blank frames

You simply chose a file which is encoded with an unsuitable CoDec. Export/ Convert the file in an external tool first.

  • Import Video Problem

    Hi
I'm trying to import a 47mb windows media video in to Flash
CS3 Prof on a high spec windows XP PC.
I go through the dialogue and do all my settings and it
starts importing - however after about 10 seconds Flash crashes
(the usual this programme has closed etc do you want to tell
    microsoft blah).
    I don't think it's a problem with the file becuase I can
import it into Flash MX, but that's no good for creating the flv of
    course.
    Can anyone help please? Thanks!

My old Ipod Mini I was able to drag and drop songs from ITUNES library on PC to IPOD Folder with no trouble. Yesterday I upgraded to the latest Itunes7 for new Video Ipod. My list of 85 songs displays just fine in original folder. I synched to new Ipod Video and only @ 45 songs were uploaded to Ipod Video. I want to be able to drag and drop to IPOD video folder in Itunes but the new folder is greyed out. I can't do anything with it not even sort it.
This happened when installed on pc #1 alone. Then again on PC#2 with both pc's setup. I already attempted
    1. How do I get the songs to move over to IPOD folder, drag and drop.
    2. How do un-grey new IPOD Folder so I can work with it?
    3. How to get the songs that did not sync? All were checked off.

  • [CS4] importing video with xdv8 codec...

Okay, I am on a windows version of premiere pro CS4. I am not very experienced with the software, so this could be amazingly obvious/simple, or it may truly be as hard as I am finding it to be. I need to import a video file, currently a .mov. I believe but am not certain that it was made on an Apple with Final Cut Pro. Premiere gives me a missing codec error.
When I try to play the file in most of my video players, including QuickTime, I get a missing or unsupported codec error (the sound generally plays fine, though - just the video is missing). One of my players actually named the codec, I believe... saying there was an error with xdv8 codec. So I did some googling, and found that mplayer has that codec.
So I download and install the latest mplayer for windows (SMPlayer to be precise), and it plays the video fine. However I still cannot import this video into Premiere. And the SMPlayer doesn't offer an export, save as, etc. function.
I found all of the codec .dll files that the SMPlayer uses, but have no idea how (if it is possible) to get Premiere to recognize them... and I am not sure which it is, as none of them have xdv8 in the title.
Is there a way to import a codec into premiere if it is not part of a codec installer package?
Does anyone know where I can get a codec installer package for Premiere that includes the xdv8 codec?
Is there any other way to work around this issue?
    Thanks!!!

One of my players (VLC Player, from Video Lan) gave an error stating that the xdv8 codec was missing or not supported. A ton of googling later found that the MPlayer does support the codec - and when I installed said MPlayer (the SMPLayer GUI for windows), I can play the video.
My issue is that the video comes from an indirect source; my client (I am a web designer, this client has a lot of streaming video on the site) has the videos created by a "professional" local studio... who is (in my opinion) anything but pro. I have no direct contact with them, and when I ask for anything to be done, such as getting the video in a different format, it can take weeks or longer before I get a response. So since I have Premiere, I started doing my own editing of the videos to get them web ready. The videos are being shot for TV (they get broadcast on the Fox Business Network)... so I have no idea if this codec is best (or even good) for that medium, but I need to convert it into 3 various sized flv files for web streaming.
UPDATE: I now see that the codec is ffmpeg2, and the 'format' is xdv8. I have no idea what that means!
    When I get properties through the SMPlayer, I see the following info;

  • CS4 Small Video Problem with Card Update

    OS: Vista 64
    CPU: AMD x2 64 4800+
    MB: Asus A8N SLI Premium
    RAM: Corsair Extreme 4GB
    CS4 Photoshop
First Video Card: BFG 7800 GTX 512MB
New Video Card: AVG GTX 260 (210) Superclocked 896MB
I had no problem with the Open GL acceleration with my old card.
I just upgraded my video card to the above and now I'm getting a small problem. I have the newest drivers from the nVidia website for the GTX 260.
When I move my mouse around the Photoshop work space flickers and flashes a little intermittently as I move the mouse around. I turned off GL Acc. and I still have the problem.
    Any ideas?

    Bob,
You are correct. Once upon a time I had the Canopus DVStorm with Premiere 6.x and it worked great (and a DVRaptor before that). Then came Premiere Pro and the problems that the DVStorm had were insurmountable so I dumped it and got the RTX-100 which was reputed to be about as good as the DVStorm was in the past. Was I disappointed! It just did not work reliably, hangs, BSOD's, unresponsivess and then when PR CS2 came out you effectively had to get the RTX.2, which was paramount to throwing the RTX.100 down the drain. It seemed to me that with every new version of CSx you needed to get a new Matrox card at extravagant prices for what it offered and still had to wait very long for decent drivers to come out. It just wasn't worth the effort anymore. And when you look here at problems that people experience, the common denominator is usually the Matrox card. So, yes, I am glad I got rid of it and found a very useful purpose for the card: a doorstopper, which must have been the intention of the engineers to start out.
About Win7: No, I did not have any doubts at all, but in my case I was lucky enough to have a high level network consultant with all kinds of certificates and an impressive experience to advise me and he juist plain told me: "You DON'T want Vista!!! GET WIN7!!! I have been using it for several RC's and it is a revelation." Now after installing and using it for some time, I can only agree.

  • Importing Video Problems

I'm tyring to upload videos onto my 30GB Apple iPod (5th Gen), but seem unable to even import them into my library.
    1. I've tried converting them to both mp4 and .mov (quicktime) file types. The mp4 gets an unexpected error (-50), and while it says they can move the .mov files, it doesn't update them to my library.
    2. I seem to be unable to automatically update my video library. When I go to Edit>Preferences, everything in the video section is greyed out.
    3. I've downloaded the sample iPod video, and was able to import it into my library, and convert it sucessfully.
It's the videos that I already have on my computer that I'm having a problem with.

The best thing I can offer is.
If the video's are in iTunes, right click on the video and from there select Convert selection for iPod. And see if that works. If not, do a search for an iPod video converter.
One that I really like, and is free.

  • CS4: Imported Videos Always Blurry

How can I get my 758 x 494 Quicktime videos, which are recordings of my laptop, to maintain its quality? Right now, the video preview and any exported videos are very blurry. If it's a problem with the aspect ratio, how I can I fix it? I have tried all sorts of different settings already. Or is there a codec I need to install?
    Thanks in advance,
And, yes, I am a newbie to Premiere.

  • Imported video problems

after i import my video it looks like its zoomed in. when i play it back in imove full screen the whole video looks zoomed in . I changed the import settings to original under preferences. That didn't help. if I hook the camera up to my tv using the rca cables it show fine.

You probably have the Image Stabilization turned on as a default.
OPen the Clip Inspector for a clip in your project by clicking on the little gear wheel in the clip. Then you can uncheck Image Stabilization. Or you could move the slider to have less zoom if you want some stabilization.
See this video tutorial for more on stabilization. In your case the Analysis is probably automatically done when you import. http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/#stabilize

  • IMPORTANT - Video problems.

    Sorry for my bad English!
I've got a problem with my 5th generation iPod. I got it on Christmas. I bought one video in the iTunes Store. I took it on the iPod, but when I tried to play it, only sound came. No video. It's the same problem with Podcasts.
Second problem: How can I put Videos (*wmv or *mpeg) on iTunes and than on the iPod?
    Thanks for your help.
    5th Generation iPod   Windows XP

Ok, in regards to the video that you purchased from the itunes store, if it plays on the ipod with no video you have two options. First, check the video settings on your ipod, tv out must be turned off, otherwise the videos play with no video. Second, if the you have already restored the ipod, then contact the itunes store customer service . The itunes store customer service website has a small form that you can fill out and get a response within 24 hours letting you know if you need to re-download the purchased videos or change settings in itunes or your ipod.
About your second problem, in order for you to transfer wmv and mpeg videos they need to be converted to mpeg-4 video file format. You can use itunes convert mov and mpg to mpeg-4. One thing though, is that if you convert an mpg (mpeg-1 or mpeg-2) muxed (muxed means that the video and audio are put together on one single track) than you loose the video or sound when when converting them to mpeg-4 from itunes. If your videos are muxed you must find another video converter on the web. Hope this helps.

  • CS3 video - great; CS4 - no video works?

I've been publishing flash videos with CS3 with no problem,
but none of the videos I publish with CS4 work and I can't figure
    out why.
    CS3:
Import video into Flash, it converts to flv, places it on
stage. I change parameter for autoplay=false, publish, ftp to the
    server and it plays.
CS4: Import video, Adobe Media Encoder opens and creates the
flv, and it's on stage. Change autoplay=false, publish, ftp
everything to the server, and it doesn't play. I get a blank screen
    - the movie, the swf player control bar - none of it shows up. I
can right-click and get the usual options menu, but no "movie not
    loaded" message.
So I'm trying to figure out who the culprit is - Flash, the
media encoder....?? The encoding options are different between
versions so I've tried various flv settings but no luck.
If I create an flv with the CS4 media encoder and then import
it into CS3, all I get in the browser is the swf playback controls
doing the barbershop pole thing where the buffer progress is
    usually displayed.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Sean

Is the AVR set to 720P or 1080P for output?  Use the resolution button on the front of the receiver to adjust.
Depending on what it is set to, the ATV needs to be set to the same setting.
The ATV does not support 1080i, if the receiver is set to that, change it.
Might be as simple as changing the HDMI port the ATV is connected to on the receiver.
