CS4 Indesign won't start up (WIN)
Suddenly I cannot get Indesign to open properly. I get the splash nad it opens three panels (swatches, layers, essentials) but will do nothing else. I get the same results whether I try to open the program from an Indesign icon, from the WIndows start menu, or by clicking on an Indesign file. Everything worked fine last night. I have restarted the computer, but I get the same problem. Illustrator and Photoshop work normally. I'm running CS4 for Windows. Any suggestions?

11g DB Control service won't start on Win XP Pro
Hi all,
In installing my 11g database, the DB Control service won't start so the database config fails prior to doing the EM stuff. The system event viewer says:
The OracleDBConsoleorcl11p1 service terminated with service-specific error 2 (0x2).
Querying further, I find the following:

Researching the error code 1066 simply says it is a vendor-specific error code. Anyone out there ever come across such a thing?

I have the same issue.
DB version: 11.1.0.6.0
OS: Win XP (latest patches and updates applied)
The database and other pieces are working just fine.

Indesign won't start with Mountain Lion 10.8
Neither CS4 Indesign nor the trial of CS6 Indesign will start on brand new MacBook air 11" with Mountain Lion 10.8. Begins starting and then says "unexpectedly quit" Same problem on both versions. Apparently none of the CS products work with Mountain Lion. Kind of hard to buy a product when even the trial version doesn't even work. Is there a fix?
Moving this discussion to the InDesign forum. InDesign CS6 does work in 10.8. I have it working on two different Mac's here. The users in this forum should be able to give some good suggestions for troubleshooting InDesign. You may want to begin by looking at disabling any third party fonts you have installed.
Also if you transferred the applications over via the Migration assistant please remove the software and install from the installation files. -
Illustrator CS4 won't start in Win 7
The scenario:
- Brand new Win 7 machine; brand new CS4 Web Premium purchase
- All windows updates and Adobe updates performed
- All Adobe products start up fine, Illustrator doesn't; it just hangs; I don't even get the splash screens at all to tell me that it is even attempting to load something. The computer freezes; ctrl+alt+del will freeze as well. The only way to get out of it is to power off the computer with the power button
** This only happens with Illustrator, all other products/apps work fine***
Any ideas? Similar situations? Recommendations?

Check +C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\+. Delete/ Move the folder to some otehr location and have AI re-create all user settings. If that doesn't help, you may have a permissions problem somewhere.
Might work for you.
there might be a fix on the Microsoft site I believe a patch. -
InDesign won't start (PC) Plug-in conflict error message
Hi, I'd really appreciate some help with this problem detailed below. Please note that i do not have the option to uninstall and reinstall the program. My disc is on a boat - I sent it snail mail back to Ireland from Australia. I am doing a graphic design course online so it's essential that I get this working again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance for your assistance.
PROBLEM: I cannot open Adobe InDesign. It displays one of two error messages
"The InDesign.exe plug-in conflicts with InDesign.exe. Try removing one of the two plug-ins from the Plug-Ins folder and restart InDesign"
OR now more often:
"This programme has stopped working and that Windows is checking for a solution... ... ... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
There are a range of errors in the AMT launch log (see below) however I don't know what they mean or how to proceed. Tried to search on the forum but it's all a bit over my head at this stage.
Here's the status on the troubleshooting I attempted based on the Adobe help information

viewed AMT launch log COMPLETED / "no value for key" items detected (see below for full script) (I have no idea what any of it means. some of it seems to refer to expiry date - please note that this is a student version purchased in 2013 and only installed on this computer) (checked the list of launch log errors and couldn't see any matching info: (Installation, launch log errors | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CCM)
ALSO: attempted to update Adobe InDesign with with the 8.0.2 Update directly from the Adobe site: but the follow error message shows when I try to apply the updates: "Update Failed. Updates could not be applied. Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Download and install a new copy..." Instead I found the original Application Manager (UpdateInstaller) in the Program Files, opened this and it successfully Identified and downloaded the updates.

Suddenly, the program will not start. It doesn't get as far as the splash screen. Task Manager doesn't show it under programs, but the Processes window shows InDesign.exe *32 in the list. Nothing is visible elsewhere. The rest of my CS 3 suite works fine. I did a reinstall of just InDesign through the Windows 7 Programs and Features control panel, and it reported a successful repair, only to show the same symptom.
Should I un-install it first and then re-install? Or is there something else to try?And you already tried trashing the prefs?
Honestly, I think think it might turn out to be easiest to reinstall. Run the uninstaller and select the option to remove the preferences and deactivate. Then download and run the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3). I'd run MSconfig (system configuration utility) and turn off non-essential startup programs and services, especially anti-virus and malware scanners, reboot and reinstall, then run MSconfig again to restore normal startup. -
Adobe CS4 Indesign will not start on Mac OSX 10.9
Hi everybody,
I recently ported my Adobe CS from an older Mac to a new machin under OSX 10.9. (Mavericks), i.e. i installed the suite from the originals DVDs. No errors were reported. I checked that all programs I need should be campatible. Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator run fine. Indesign, however, does not start but signals an "Error 5". No further explanation. What could possibly be wrong?

Fresh CS4 Encore - won't start
Hi,
I have just installed Windows 7 and a fresh install of Master Collection CS4. Everything is working except Encore. It starts with the splash screen, but then quickly disappears - gone as if it ended normally - Nothing in the event viewer, no dump, nada. I've seen multiple threads on this subject, but no solutions. Can anyone help me with this?

same problem on two machines, one running XP/32 and the other running Win7/64. In both cases Encore CS4 freezes. Everything else works fine except Encore. Whether I start from shortcut or thru dynamic link I get the same freeze.

InDesign won't start up anymore
I have the Adobe Creative Suite CS6 Design Standard, on a PC with Windows 7. The Suite was working great until the other day, when I couldn't get InDesign to start up. I get the error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006). Click OK to close the application." Both Illustrator and Photoshop still work fine.
I tried uninstalling the latest Windows updates, since they were installed about the time InDesign quit working, but I still have the same problem.
If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it!How do you feel about opening the case and fiddling? Do not attempt this at home unless you are comfortable and understand the risk involved.
How much RAM? How many sticks? If you have at least two sticks, you should be able to pull one, or a pair if you have four leaving memory in Bank 1 (make sure you are static-safe -- a ground strap is the recommended method, but if the machine is plugged in and turned off you can touch the case to discharge before you pull the RAM -- and handle the memory carefully only be the edges). Restart the machine and test If it doesn't boot, odds are the remaining memory is in the wrong bank). If you get the same error, swap the memory you left in with what you took out and try again. If it's bad memory, this should let the program start.
I'd also recommend you run a CheckDisk cycle on the hard drive. -
Indesign won't start downloading process on Windows 8.1.
I've tried to download CC InDesign muptiple times but it doesn't get past the initalizing installer, infact it doesn't even start initalizing, the pop up screens shows up and then it just sits there. I've restarted to computer a couple times and tried again. I've gone through my temp files and made sure no files were left over and tried again. Still nothing. Help!!
Natia09123 I would recommend reviewing your installation logs for InDesign CC to determine the error which is preventing you from installing the software. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion thread.

Itunes won't start after Win 7 wakes up
I've noticed a lot of Win 7 users not able to launch iTunes or it takes many minutes. I found by accident that it only happens after my Win 7 PC has been in sleep mode. If I re-boot my PC it starts almost instantly? Anyone found an answer to this? In the mean time I'm just turning power saving off.
I have now found that the problem relates to a USB hard drive which I disconnected a while ago. after re-connecting it iTunes works fine. I am guessing that iTunes was searching for files on the missing drive? anyway I hope this may help someone else.

Urgent Question:Indesign won't start up
the program indesign from CS5 Design premium has decided to just stop opening & running. I've re installed it 2x. It won't accept updates. this is ridiculous. Pay a lot for the programs so its not fun when they just stop working.
Some of my suggestions
If you are using windows OS, you can try opening the application as "Run as Administrator".
while installing the Design premium, did you install the full pack or just InDesign. try installing full pack or vise versa.
check for the system requirement before installing the software.
login to your system as admin and try installing it again.
if anything did not work, try installing it in another computer. If it works then the issue could be in your OS. you can format and install the OS again.
last chance is contact Adobe support.

Adobe InDesign CC 2014 does not open. Says a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. Any thoughts?

Quicktime won't start on Win XP
All,
I had a working version of Quicktime and iTunes on my XP, and everything worked until I recently wanted to start iTunes, and noticed it did show up as a process for 2 seconds but then disappeared silently. The same goes for Quicktime; I can't start it anymore.
Since it is on my work's PC, I can't just reinstall Windows to fix the problem...
I already rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled all related software, but no gain...
Any way to check what is conflicting or missing?

ps: In the old Amiga days there was a program called "Snoopdos" to check all routines, libraries and executables easily. Those were the days...until I recently wanted to start iTunes, and noticed it did show up as a process for 2 seconds but then disappeared silently. The same goes for Quicktime; I can't start it anymore.
That sounds a bit like a Qoologic adware infection. (Rare nowadays, but outrageously common a few years back.)
We used to use Ewido to fix that, but Ewido doesn't exist anymore. (Bought out by AVG who folded it into their own products.)
Try downloading and installing the free trial version of Malwarebytes. Update the Malwarebytes definitions and run a scan of the PC.

My Audition 3 won't start in Win 7 64. Help needed...
When I try to use Audition 3, I get this error message:
An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application.
I have reinstalled, but I still get the same error message.

Some people have had no issues; others have had trouble, but you might glean some ideas from other users' struggles. (Try searching: Windows 7 64).
Please come back and let us know how it plays out for you, because many including me (who has only used it in 32-bit Win7, successfully) are curious about how well this works.
They really need to do an Audition 4 optimized for both versions of Win7, as Audition 3 has been around since before Vista, but there are some signs that Adobe's interest has waned and it's unclear whether there will or won't be an Audition 4 from Adobe.
