CS4 Install Just Hangs verifying configuration

Hi guys
For some months I've tried installing the Master Collection CS4 trial on my PC Intel 2 quad CPU, 2.93gig RAM, 3 separate HDDs - 149, 139 & 120gig, OS = XP SP3, NVIDIA Geoforce 8800GTS, SoundMax HD Audio.
I tried installing the disk but it didn't load Premiere Pro (which was the real reason for trying it) due to a colour profile problem. I uninstalled it, ran restore to pre-install and tried again but it gets to about 95% of verifying configuration and then hangs. When I check programmes in the Control Panel, it shows the MC as installed, so I uninstall it and try again; same thing! I tried installing in safe mode but I get "Install has encountered an error and needs to close".
Since then I've bought another PC running XP64E and gave MC a trial and I'm about to buy the full license. When I do I understand I can load it on a second PC as long as I don't have the same programme open on both at the same time. Therefore I plan to load it on the older one. However, has anyone any ideas how I can clear this "hang" problem first?

Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated but I'm sure you will also appreciate I am extremely unhappy.How on earth can I or anyone else trust Adobe after this?
I run a small Public Affairs consultancy and purchasing MC CS4 is a big investment for us. I made more than reasonable efforts to make sure I 'd have the best environment for it to run onby contacting the company; that’s why I had a new PC built and the engineer was part of the call. I’d have never had bought XP64 (and the various components that are XP64 compliant) if it wasn’t for the explicit but wrong advice of Adobe’s technical support. Now I'm facing further a lot of additional uncessary costs to put right Adobe's wrong advice.
I think there's a duty of care issue here and one that cannot be shrugged off simply with "tough-luck". Can you supply the contact details of a decision maker in the company so I can follow this up please? I don't think the forum is the place to continue this exchange.
I'm sorry and this not a case of shooting the messenger, but I simply cannot let it rest like this.

Acrobat 9.1.1/9.1.2 w/ CS4 Install (Acrobat hangs)

We had CS3 installed with Acrobat 8.x installed, we are upgrading to CS4 with Acrobat 9.1.1/9.1.2. However we are ONLY having this issue on Laptops (MacBookPro's).
Using the same install for MacPro's and iMac's every single application works fine. However on our MacBook Pro's Acrobat will hang and you will get the spinning beach ball. Requring a Force quit to get out of Acrobat 9. I am guessing at this point it has to do with the user profile (as they are Mobile accounts - cached local home accounts) as that is the major difference. On our desktop models they are using local homes but require AD authenication to log in. However, the local admin account on the desktops also works fine.
I did on one laptop go through and delete all the files folders that dealt with Adobe in /Library/, /private/var/, /usr/, /~/Library/ and all other locations. I then repushed CS3 ran the same scripts to remove CS3 an push CS4 and then Acrobat worked...

I have Acrobat 9.1.1 installed on 10.5.7 Macbook Pro Intel Penryn, 2.4 Ghz. CS4 Master Collection. Have always used the auto update and never any problems until today.
Tried the update to 9.1.2 this morning. It doesn't hang, but it fails because it claims that I modified the installation. Problem is that I have not.

Fresh install of solaris 10 x86 hangs after 'Configuring devices'

Hi All,
I just received a new SuperMicro server with an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i controller. While trying to install Solaris 10 it hangs after "Configuring devices". I checked the LSI page and Solaris 10 is supported according to them. Any ideas how to proceed?
Fairly new to Solaris on x86 hardware.
The system has a Xeon X5690 processor in an Intel Workstation Board S5520SC motherboard. The motherboard documents claim that not disabling usb 2.0 can hang an install. I have disabled the usb 2.0 in the bios but the system still hangs. Booting it with the -kd and -kv options don't give much information.
Any help is appreciated. I might be returning these machines if I can't get this worked out.

See if you can add the verbose option "-v" to the kernel boot options. I think you can get to the GRUB menu off the Solaris 10 install disk. That should tell you what device is causing the hang, or at least the last device that worked.
Also, can you try Solaris 11 and see if it gets past that point? A few years ago I has a similar issue with Solaris 10 on a Dell server. Solaris 11/OpenSolaris worked fine, though. IIRC I could work around the issue if I disabled the 2nd CPU - Solaris 10 had a problem bringing up the 2nd CPU on that Dell's CPU/MB config.

10.5.4 won't install-hangs on Configuring Installation

10.5.4 won't install-hangs on Configuring Installation and I have to force quit the installer. I've tried to wait it out for over an hour, but the progress bar never moves. This is with the Combo Updater. I've also tried using Software Update, but the progress bar for checking for new software stops about 3/4 of the way, and hangs forever. Any advice? Thanks.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately such problems do occur for some people, not necessarily through any fault on the part of the user. Interruption of an update can cause problems for which there are solutions.
Which update was it?
Go to the Apple icon and select Software Update and see what it recommends if anything. Don't actually instal, rather just quit SU and let us know what the result is.
Secondly, open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Select your hard drive in the LH column then Repair permissions from the lower part on the RH side of the window. It will take about 10mins to complete its task. If there is a list of permissions finishing with a message permissions repaired rerun this to make sure there are no more. See whether the odd behaviour continues.
If it does, insert the original installation dvd and restart holding the C key until the Select your language window appears. Do this & on the next window Select Disk Utility from the Tools menu. Again select your hard drive but this time choose Repair Disk. If there are repairs indicated and they are completed rerun this too to check that no more are needed. When this is finished rerun Repair permissions as well if there were any repairs carried out. Restart the computer normally and see how it all goes.

When executing the command: "sudo make install" the terminal just hangs

After the command executes the terminal just hangs and doesn't return to normal. Any ideas what Im doing wrong?

I would not be looking at 2009 instructions knowing that current build instructions, release notes, and other information were present, either online, or within the source distribution. In the preceding hyperlink, you will note that build instructions for OS X (any version) are simply omitted. Dependencies are discussed, such as needing the automake tools.
I would take a closer look at current build requirements (including arguments to ./configure), and build log — as an underlying reason why install hangs in your terminal.

Can't install Flash? Just hangs...

I just received a copy of Flash CS4, and like with the trial version, I can't get it to install. It gets to the part where the message reads, "Preparing to Install..." and then just hangs.
I have Adobe Captivate already installed on my computer, but that's all I can think of.
Any advice is appreciated.

I had a similar problem that occurred when installing Flash CS4. I had previously installed the rest of the CS4 applicaitons with no problem. When I went back to install flash, it errored out. After that, I couldn't get past the "Checking System Profile". It would just freeze at 90%.
I ended up spending 4 hours on the phoen with Adobe support, but got it fixed. Not quite sure which solution actually worked as we did a couple of them in a row and then tested it.
Here's a good thread on it. From what I understand, althought the problem is similar, the causes/solutions can differ greatly.

All else fails, call adobe support. It takes a while, but it eventually got mine fixed.

Is it possible to install Fireworks CS4 without other "hang-on" programs?

The question at hand is simple indeed;
Is it possible to install Fireworks CS4 without other "hang-on" programs? Especially Bridge CS4?
See the problem is were running version cue cs3, and we simply cannot shift to cs4, cause VC CS4 is not recognised by bridge cs3. Hairy yes.
Some of us need ONLY fireworks cs4, cause its miles better than cs3, but it automatically installs bridge cs4. And this kind of sucks, cause
we cant use the cs3 version cue server after that.

Have you tried removing the unwanted version and then, possibly, installing/repairing to the old?

Trying to re install os x but just hangs at apple logo

I powered up the macbook air but it just shows question mark flashing, tried to re install os x but it just hangs at apple logo. I rebooted holding down Alt and it onloy shows USB drive. Done a Hardware test and it shows no faults. Any Ideas!!!!!!!!!!???????????

Time to make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP for service. You can try booting in the Recovery Partition by holding down the Option key when you hear the start up tone. Then run Disk Utility and attempt to repair the disk. If it comes up with errors after repairing the disk 3-4x then you know it's dead.

Install Just Adobe Pdf Printer 9.0. I already have acrobat 9 pro configured

I just installed acrobat 9 pro but declined to install the adobe Pdf printer 9 when the installer asked.
I now find I will need Adobe Pdf printer 9.0.
How can I install just this Adobe printer from the DVD?
I cannot access any custom install features from the dvd as this is a braindead drag and drop into the applications folder type of installer.

Not the best at IT and just clicked update when it came up as available without realising what I was doing! Turns out it was an upgrade to os x 10.9.4. Since then the laptop has been practically unusable particularily when it comes to safari, it is either really slow getting to a particular page or just doesnt do anything, no matter how long you wait. Restarting doesnt seem to help, reload view fails as well. Its strange as sometimes its ok for 10 minutes then starts doing this. I know this is bad but I have never backed the laptop up so cant restore to previous version. I am currently looking into which external hard drive to buy so I can start doing regular back ups. I have run EtreCheck in the hope somebody can help!! Results below

8i installation on RH6.0 - just hangs

Trying to run ./runInstaller from /mnt/cdrom originally gave me
the following:
[oracle@dev cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre.
Please wait...
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: No such file or directory
I made a link:
[root@dev local]# ln -s /dvl/jre116_v5/bin /usr/local/jre/bin
Now, when I try to run installer again, the screen flashes a
window for a very brief moment, can't even read what's on it,
then it just hangs forever:
[oracle@dev cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre.
Please wait...
(and so I wait... And wait... and wait)
According to JRE1.1.6v5 installation notes, there is no need to
set CLASSPATH - just add bin subdirectory of JRE to PATH.
DISPLAY is set properly, PATH includes /dvl/jre116_v5/bin
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, kernel has to be recompiled with recomended values.

And this is on Linux!!! Maybe the Oracle folks are forgetting
that Linux users are a little too sensitive to these kind of
mistakes. :)
This also supports my theory that the new installer is a gift
from Windows programmers. Who are not too familiar with the
idea of being able to send their video display to any computer
around the world and work from there. A feature every Linux
user takes for granted The Oracle Universal Installer is used to install Oracle products
on both Windows and Unix platforms. For every action performed by
the installer, there is a check to see if the platform on which
installation is going on is Windows or Unix. Based on the Query
result it performs a certain action and these are written to the
log file.
The log file should like:
platGroup = WINDOWS
Query returned : false
as Linux belongs to Unix platform group.
The installation types screen list 3 options: Typical, Minimal
and Custom. Somehow Minimal takes more disk space >
(642MB)compared to Typical (585 MB). Well that is what the
installation screen says. I have not tried to install using
the minimal install. The Oracle Software Packager which is used to create the shiphome
doesn't seem to report the correct size of the components and so
this inconsistency.
The installation cant figure out how much free space is
available on the / partition. Is it that hard? Its gives
warnings about how I may not have enough space. The free disk space calculation is done as follows:
((# free blocks) * (block size)) / 1024 in KB
The multiplication might have resulted in an overflow and
displaying the
wrong figures.
dbassist cant find the cdrom if you try to install the default
database from CDROM. It says cannot find CDROM even if you
have all your stuff under /mnt/cdrom dbassist script cannot be run from the shiphome on a CD. It can
only be run from the installed ORACLE_HOME.
The docs talk about software mount points and data mount points
/u01 /u02 /u03 and /u04 that I created, but I could not find
anywhere to specify them like I was able to, with the last
release.
Database Creation Assistant doesn't understand OFA. It wants
to put all of the database files /u01/app/oracle/oradata/<sid>
! Database Creation Assistant will sometimes prevent editing
the data file names to put them in OFA compliant directories. In DataBase Configuration Assistant, select the type of database
to create to be "custom" and create the database which allows to
give different paths for various database files and control
files.
"Oracle Protocol Support" section during the install shows no
options at all. What happened to good ole Net8? Only the TCP/IP adapter is supported which is default and
built-in, and so the screen is blank.
Some executables in the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory do not have
execute permissions. "root.sh" script needs to be run when prompted by the installer
to set the appropriate permissions.
Zero length library file $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libnjni8.so.
Netasst doesn't work without it. Someone said they posted the
source code to the comp.databases.oracle.server newsgroup, but
I can't find it. and many libraries are zero length. This was noted internally also. We shall be providing a patch to
be released soon with the correct libraries.
Database Creation Assistant thinks dbmssql.sql is called
dbmssml.sql. The file $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/dbmssml.sql gets instantiated
from $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/install/sbs/dbmssml.sbs at install time
and it's not getting instantiated. Also, the instantiated SQL
script uses $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libqsmashr.so.
Get the shared library libqsmashr.so which will be provided in
the patch to be released soon and copy it to $ORACLE_HOME/lib.
Run the generated SQL script (dbmssml.sql) from the file
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/install/sbs/dbmssml.sbs by replacing the
%ORACLE_HOME% with the actual path to ORACLE_HOME. Copy the
generated SQL script to $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin.
Building the Intelligent Agent with TCL 7.5 causes a cascade
of undefined references when running gmake -f ins_oemagent.mk
agent The makefile $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk is
incorrect.
Get the makefile ins_oemagent.mk from the patch to be released
soon and copy it to $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib

in the mean time modify $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
as follows:
- replace -R$(LIBHOME) with -Wl,-rpath,$(LIBHOME) on line 20
(make sure to type entire option as one word, do not leave any
blank spaces in-between)
- replace the make rules for dbsnmp target with (while adding
these lines, for the first line keyin <tab> as the first
character)

CS4 install failure

While installing Adboe CS4 on my Mac (OS X 10.5.6), I accidentally popped the CD out of my computer (Imac, 10.5.6). After swearing at myself, I reinserted the CD to try and contiume the install but the install just seemed to hang. So I rebooted and tried to run the setup again. I was asked if I wanted to reinstall so I said sure. I got the message that it was reinstalling but nothing actually happened after several hours. So I Googled and found that in applications/utilities, there is supposed to be an Adobe uninstall tool. But I can't find that. I remember from several years ago when I had a Mac I used to be able to hold down the Apple key or something while I double clicked on the installer to get to an uninstall option. I can't seem to do that now. Any suggestions please.

That's correct, you will need Clean Script, probably CS3 version. You are going to have to call "tech support" for help though (the call doesn't count against your two free tech calls, installation tech calls are all free). Clean Script CS3 has hidden options that you have to know about and you will need to use, so, don't try to run this on your own. When you use this program, it will ask for your admin password, but, when you type it in, it will NOT display the characters that you are typing, so be aware.
Expect to delete EVERYTHING Adobe from your computer, in all accounts. So, if you use Lightroom, save everything, so you can restore later. Also, you will probably have to create a new administrators account for the installation, so make sure you know your admin password before you call. Good luck.
