CS4 Install problems on iMac

Hi, I've just purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 4 - Design Premium. However, the disks will not load on my iMac. They spin several times before being ejected. I have inserted other disks to ensure that the drive is not at fault, but all load correctly. I have subsequently contacted Adobe who have reports of some other users experiencing problems. But, they maintain that the disks are not at fault, indicating that it is a problem for Apple to resolve, suggesting that the DVD drivers are at fault. I've checked that my system software is up to date, but still no luck. Coincidentally, I have previously loaded the Production Premium software from Adobe on the same system with no problem. Any suggestions?

Is CS4 on a DVD-DL? I suspect it is.
If so, a lots of (i)Mac seems to have problem with DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL (search the forum for DVD-DL not burning/mounting). It may have something to do with a recent (security) update... Or maybe your DVD Drive is dirty or damaged (which would be surprising since you have a recent model). Anyway, try the various (and often Voodoo-ish) solutions around like reseting PRAM, creating a new account, cleaning the lens, etc.
Good luck and if it's (even partly) software related, pray for 10.5.7 (or 10.6) to correct this issue...

  • OS 9 Install problem on imac G3

    hello all,
i have an OS install problem on my imac . I just finished formatting the drive . the drive is
    paritioned :
    1st partition = HD1: 5.5 Gb
    2nd partition = HD2 : 2.5 Gb
    3rd partition = HD3 : 110+ Gb
Then, in order to save some time ( i thought ) , i tried directly install os 9 from an imac
DV CD , on HD1 : i thought i d be quicker so i would have to start with os 8.5 then upgrade to 8.6 and etc .
that turned out to be a bad idea. the system install warned me it couldnt install Air port because the hardware wasnt compatible . it gave me two options : either ignore this message or quit . i chose ignore : again certainly a bad choice .
After the install was finished , the mac wouldnt start on HD1 . the sytem install is apparently incomplete ,or anycase it doesnt work .
i then installed os 8.5 from original imac tray load install CD on HD2 , and it works fine .
now the question is : what should i do with my bad os9 system ? i need an operating system on this partition. perhaps i can trash it and reinstall mac os8.5 on it ? i hope there is a way to get out of this without formatting the drive again .
    thanks for any advice .

about the os9 CD : it is a retail verson , only not of the same imac model .
That is not a retail version of OS 9. A retail version of OS 9 has no dependencies on any model of Mac. You have a machine specific disc which probably won't work with your iMac.
1/ i dont know how to reformat a partition without formatting the entire drive . perhaps you can explain .
In OS X you use Disk Utility and only select the partition that you want to reformat. It has been ages since I used OS 8 so I'm not sure if it is even possible using "Drive Setup".

  • Adobe PS CS4 Install problem

    Hi Guys:
I had an installation and I was seeming to have computer problems after (mainly getting photoshop to print a pic), so I uninstalled, and then went to reinstall.  The program goes through the install routine, but it doesn't allow me to change the install folder or enter my serial number, and when it is approx 1/4" from the end of the install as shown by the progress bars, it suddenly finishes, and the gives me the following message:
    "Done, with errors"
and it shows that several files including PS CS$ were successfully installed
When I go to the button at the bottom for more details, it says:
Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack
    Error:
    Error 2
    Language Pack (English)
    Error:
    Error 2
**I have done the uninstall PS CS4, then restart the computer, reinstall routine multiple times and always the same error.
When I actually try to start PS CS4 from the start menu I get this message:
Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, please reinstall the application.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank You

  • InDesign CS4 install problems on a MAC....HELP!!

I have ALL versions of InDesign from 1. through to CS5 except for ID CS4. My client wants me to utilize this for a major project we are doing, so there won't be any problem with up/down saving etc. I am using a Macbook Pro and I have a licensed version of CS4 and for whatever reason I can not get it to load. I tried this more than a year ago before CS5 came out....couldn't even get the trial version to work. I have deleted ALL CS3 and CS5 applications and done an Adobe clean suite sweep. Still it takes the registration number and then after spending all the time to upload it says "license is expired". I've never even heard of a license expiring and would wonder, but this is their multi-license copy that several people are using AND it has said that with any copy I've tried to upload. I tried it with the internet off, of course restarting before each time to have a clean trash bin and fresh start. I've tried every way I can think of and it has cost me a whole day of work! I even crossed my fingers and rubbed my lucky penny....no luck at all! There must be something in there that's keeping it from being able to load. OH, did I tell you I even set up another user and tried it that way?
I'm out of options and would appreciate and advice and help.

    Peter:
I have tried and tried to post on the forums again. Signed in with 2 different names (don't ask!) and still can't get a new topic button. Here is my issue:
I have a large scale file (several) that I'm working with. It is 60" x 210". The file made in ID is fine, but I am having a hard time making a proofing PDF. Tried Distilling, directly from the app (export), and making them into eps and opening them in Acrobat to create a 4 page file. All ways cropped the files.
Do you by chance have a tip??? Please?!!
And I figured out my loading of the application problem. It was so strange and many steps:
    1. Install software
    2. If you get a "licesnse expired" notice the...
    3. Change the date on your computer to Dec. 20, 2008 (it's stated differently in the Adobe info, but the phone support stated this date).
    4. Launch the app or any of the CS apps if you've loaded more.
    5. Go to HELP> Deactivate>Erase my serial number.
    6. Close the program.
    7. Open each application.
    7. Change the date back to today's date on your computer.
    8. The products should all launch correctly!

  • CS4 install problem "you cannot run...architecture not supported" error

Just received my copy of CS4 (Mac) from amazon.com. Installed it. But could not get it to run. Got a "You cannot run....architecture not supported" error message. Can't understand why? This is my first version of Photoshop CS. Didn't install CS3...etc. Nor did I previously install the "master" edition. And I am running a MBP 2.5GHz laptop. So it has to be software related. A corrupt file perhaps?
I also cannot install Adobe AIR. Suddenly 3 windows pop up. Telling me I can't install AIR.
Not happy. Expensive software not running. Not good. :P What gives???
    Please help me soon!

Where were you yesterday Buko?? :) Where would one find the "CS4 Cleanscript" any how? Would have been nice if you provided a link. Heh...
Any how. Last night. I did d/l the trial version of CS4 Extended. Installed it. Then read the READ.ME file. Stresses that you MUST use their uninstall program. That you can't simply drag the folder to the TRASH (or use AppDelete or AppZapper...as you would be doing the same thing pretty much). So, I used Adobe's CS4 uninstaller. Did a very thorough job of removing the right files.
I managed to sucessfully install my copy of CS4. I even got the proper SETUP dialogue box this time (6 tabs). Previously only 3 tabs were visible. This one asks you to input your serial # and even register before you finish.
Now I see the blue PS folder icon. Have copied a few PS program icons to my dock. Working now as it should.
Moral of the story? Read the READ.ME file!! And use proprietary uninstall programs for huge complicated programs like PS CS4. :) Later guys.

  • Mac Pro trapcode particular with Cs4 install problems

    hi
im on mac with leo installed.I'm trying to install particular 1.5 with cs4 but no luck so far.
it just doesnt show up in AE effects panel any ideas?
    thx

    There is only one installer.
No, there isn't. If downloading the original ZIP file from Red Giant Software, it contains a set of sub-folders with different versions. CS4 is intel only. Unlike CS3 it does no longer support PPC code. Therefore any such plug-ins will not show up in CS4 unless you install the correct version, which is what you do when installing from the sub-folder I mentioned. So by all means, run that installer.

  • Flash Cs4 install problems

    Hello folks,
About 2 weeks ago I bought Flash Cs4. I installed it the same day and everything was working wonderfully! About 2 weeks into it, I opened flash one morning and the user agreement pooped up. I said to 'accept' to access flash but when I did nothing happened. This wouldnt go away so I un-installed flash (using windows 7 uninstaller) and tried to re-install, no luck. 4 and 5 times later still no luck. I then read about how you may have to run Adobes "cleanscript program". It tells you to download "Windows something or other un-install clean up utility". So I do so and I remove all adobe products from my machine. The next step is to right click on cs4cleanscriptutility.exe (not exact file name sorry) and run as admin or double click if run as admin is not an option. Of course with my luck run as admin is not an option so i double click, nothing happens! It says "windows cannot open this file"...but its an .exe I thought its a self running program!?! Thats where im stuck now....Im not sure if i even need to do all this, maybe theres a simpler way? can anyone chime in please?

    anyone?

  • Photoshop CS4 install problem

I`m running Windows Vista, AMD Turion X2 64bit, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD. Downloaded the installer from the website, placed it in C:\Temp and tried to install.
When the installation begins it shows the "Checking System Profile" window, when the progress bar is near the end an error message appears saying "Command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help.". I click the OK button and the installer gets stuck at the "Checking System Profile" window.
I've tried common procedures for this such as placing the installer in C:\Temp and changing %TEMP% and %TMP% to C:\Temp. And yes, the installer is being run as administrator.

Here's a solution that worked for me:
Download and install the English version of Photoshop CS4 (The file name has a _CL1 extension.) The errors will still be there. Details show that certain components did not load.
Then download the FRENCH language version -- the one with the _CL4 extension. (I chose French because I could have worked with the program in French if I had to.)
Now open the French installer and REinstall Photoshop. The installer will just show the components that were missing from the English language version installation, so just go ahead and install ONLY those components.
and Voila! You get a working version of Photoshop CS4 64 bit version IN ENGLISH! The French installer only added the missing components which, apparently, had nothing to do with the interface language.

  • CS4 Install Problem

After my last computer died recently, I bought a new computer.  I am now trying to install CS4 on my new computer (It had been installed on my old computer, but this will be the second installation.)
During the installation process, I got the following error:
    "Installation Error
Installation of the following compontents has failed:
    Adobe Flash CS4
    Adobe Illustration CS4
    Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)
To continue installing the remaining options, click Continue
Why is this happening?  And how do I fix it so that Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop can be installed on this new machine?
    Here's my computer info:
Operating system: Windows 7  (64 Bit)
The computer itself is a Dell Inspiron N7010,  processor is  Intel Core i5 cpu M460 @ 2.53 GHz

Probably this is an exact kb article for this error, give it a try -

  • Silly me... CS4 install problem thinks it is already installed.

    Hi All,
I am a bit silly, I dragged the CS4 demo to trash then read the instructions that said not to do that! But now I cannot install the full suite as it thinks that InDesign (CS4) is already installed, but it definitely is not.
I tried running the install for other apps which was ok and then ran uninstaller like you are supposed to but no luck, still wont install.
Is there another way to run the full uninstaller?
BTW it is only the ID that wont install, the other apps are ok...

There is a CS4 clean Script that should help:

Rob - have you checked your vector layer is properly constructed - I mean that these are closed shapes? is the type vectorised as part of a single layer?. It may be that this vector is corrupt in some way.
But there are some new problems with CS4, mainly with regard to selections I have noticed. These are nothing whatsoever to do with graphics cards before anyone says it.
