CS4 Install???

Ok, after going through 2 weeks of trying to get CS3 to install, I must have lost my mind because I am trying now to get CS4 to install.
My XP Media Center Computer died and I decided to rebuild it. So XP Media Center with SP3. I have NO Adobe Software on it whatsoever. Uninstalled everything Adobe or Macromedia-then went through and manually deleted all the files. All the temp files, all files in Program>Common Files as well as ALL Application Data Files for all users in both Application and Local Settings.
I then ran the Windows Clean up utility and removed the Common Installer. I went to Microsoft and made sure that all my permissions were properly set in my Registry-manually fixing the ones that weren't. And I also tried creating a new user. Have run the CS3 Clean Script 3x on level 3 and once on level 2.
CS4 is copied onto my hard drive AND I disabled all but Microsoft Services then booted to the Administrator account as well as both users in Safe Mode with Networking to try and install. It starts doing something and then just crashes.
I had downloaded the Installation Support Program, but it couldn't give me any information. And the CleanScript erased all the logs from today.
I've tried calling technical support, but they've moved that to a call center in India. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let a level 1 tech person tell me to start just deleting things in my Registry or my directories without taking the proper steps first.
Anyway, here is the log information where the error occurred:
Unable to create module Connect Pro Server Inspector, with autoUpdateOptions: UPDATE_ISSUE_DATA, canLoadModule = false

source = "https://asafe.adobe.com/feed/GM/connect/ConnectLogParser.swf"
version = "3.0.1"
Because I'm doing this without any anti-virus or firewall, I've been disconnecting my network cable. Do I now have to install this stuff connected to the internet?????
Kim

Kim,
I don't think the installer will work in Safe Mode, but it should run if you run MSconfig to turn off unnecessary startup programs and services, then boot normally. For what it's worth, The CS4 installers are MUCH better than CS3, and I had no issues here installing Design Premium on XP sp2 doing nothing more than turning off my anti-virus.

  • Adobe CS4 Install freezes at "Preparing to Install..." on Vista

I am trying to install Adobe CS4 for the first time (it's not an upgrade) from DVD on Vista (all the latest updates are installed; Windows Update has nothing more to do). The Vista install is also pretty fresh, although I have installed a few things. The CS4 install starts and I get a "Preparing to Install..." message. But, that's it. It's stuck there indefinitely.
I have disable my antivirus software, tried to use AdobeSupportAdvisor (but it doesn't seem to be able to determine that an install has been attempted), and been working through everything on
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb404127&sliceId=1
to no avail. I get the same behavior no matter what I try.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

OK, I got it to install. I think what happened was really simple and stupid on my part, but I can't really say for sure because I didn't get any such info from the CS4 install program. I had an upgrade version and I was installing on a new computer. So, possibly the CS4 installer was looking for a previous version.
    Anyway, here's what I did:
    1. I noticed that in spite of the install not appearing to get anywhere, there were some CS4 components installed. I removed them via the usual Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs routine.
    2. Install CS3.
    3. Install CS4.
    Worked just fine.
    So, my only suggestions are:
    1. If you have an upgrade version, install the version from which you are upgrading first.
    2. If you had this install failure, it might help if you uninstall whatever got installed during the failed attempt(s).
Simple and obvious, I suppose, but it did get the install working.

  • I have cs4 installed on my old computer, i have since lost the disk and serial #s. Is there any way to recover this information and install the programs on my new computer?

I have cs4 installed on my old computer, i have since lost the disk and serial #s. Is there any way to recover this information and install the programs on my new computer? I used my old computer for college and haven't used it in awhile, now I have a job that can benefit from having those programs. I was wondering if ADOBE keeps records or something to where I can download the programs on my new MacBook and use my old serial #s.

  • Strange yellow color cast after CS4 install

I just ran into a strange problem helping a friend install PS CS4. Everything seemed to go fine, but now all of a sudden his images are displayed with a strong yellow tint. I don't mean a slight color cast, I mean a STRONG yellow tint. The images appear the same in Photoshop, the Bridge, and even ACR. I re-calibrated the monitor (Gretag McBeth) and generated a new profile just be sure, but that wasn't it. The same images viewed in other applications (Picassa, opened in a browser, etc.) on the same computer display normally. This appears to be only Photoshop related. What's also interesting is that CS3 now exhibits the same problem after the CS4 install.
I reviewed all the color settings and workflow, and nothing is out of the ordinary. The Nikon raw images were imported via ACR, and opened in Photoshop with ACR workflow options set for 16 bit/Adobe RGB. Photoshop working space is Adobe RGB. I also installed the 11.0.1 update. But here are what may be a couple of clues. First, it's not just the image files that look bad. The colors are awful in the color picker in the toolbox. The entire color picker slider is almost all yellow and orange. And here's another good one. We tried importing some new raw images via the photo downloader in Bridge. With the downloader in Advanced mode, the image previews before download show the same yellow cast. But after I click the Get Photos button, the image colors appear correct as they flash on for a couple of seconds while being downloaded. This has got to be a big clue for someone. What's different about how the image is displayed during that two second preview during the actual download?
The PC hardware is a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 Dell tower (2G ram) running XP Pro w/SP3, with a nVidia GeForce 7800 graphics card, and the screen resolution is 1024x768. I'm thinking maybe a graphics card issue or corrupted system profiles, but I'm a Mac and he's a PC so my PC troubleshooting skills are limited.
Has anyone else seen a problem like this before?? Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Contribute CS4 Install error - ccmenu.xml

    Hi,
Trying to get Contribute CS4 installed for a user here at Notre Dame. It keeps telling us that:
"Contribute encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current ccmenus.xml file.
Please delete the current ccmenus.xml file and rename menus.bak to ccmenus.xml."
We do this, and that same error comes up every time. We uninstall and reinstall and that error comes up every time.
    Anyone seen this?
The machine is a new iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.2. It does not have any CS3 products installed just CS4.
    thanks,
    bart loeb, notre dame

Seems like an issue with media files, some of the content might be missing. Try to download CS4 from the below website but make sure to follow the "Very Important Instructions", mentioned on that website, carefully before downloading it.

  • CS4 installed on new computer

Own CS4 Design Premium.  Just got new computer.  All else but ID working.  Says licensing has stopped working.  Error Code 5.  Anyone have any help to offer. CS4 is no longer supported by tech support.

What operating system? If you just got a new Mac with Mavericks (10.9.2), there's no guarantee you'll be able to get CS4 installed.
You may have tried to use Migration which won't work. You might have a chance if you could do a clean install from your original discs.

Your best bet is probably to start over by cleaning off the old software with the Adobe Cleaner tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then reinstall from your original media, or download it here:

  • With CS5 upgrade installed, do I need to keep CS4 installed as well?

I upgraded from CS4 to CS5 by purchasing the "upgrade" package.
In my applications I now have CS4 and CS5 installed and they show as two separate applications.
What I would like to know is
    1. Do I need to keep CS4 installed for CS5 to work, as it is only an "upgrade"?
    2. When I buy a new computer, do I have to install CS4 on it before installing the "upgrade" version of CS5?
    Many thanks for your help.

I must admit that comes as a bit of a surprise.
I had presumed that the "upgrade" version of CS5, being so much cheaper to buy than the full original, would check your hard drive to make sure you actually had bought a legal copy of CS4.
Does that mean there is no difference between the "upgrade" and the full price installation discs?
By the way, I know I'm old sometimes can't find something even when it's right under my nose, but is there a "LOG OUT" button anywhere on this forum?

  • Cs6 upgrade is installed, do I need to keep CS4 installed?

cs6 upgrade is installed, do I need to keep CS4 installed?

    Stephen Roach III wrote:
I,m under the impression that CS4 must be installed on the machine for a 'upgrade to' version of CS6 to be successfully installed.
    Is this assumption wrong?
No, but it's not essential since upgrades include the full program code. The serial number differentiates a full version from an upgrade.
If the CS6 ugrade installer cannot find an earlier qualifying version already installed, it will ask you to enter the serial number for an earlier qualifying version instead. You then enter an earlier version qualifying serial and the CS6 installer will continue.
When I'm installing (or reinstalling) Creative Suites where the latest version is an upgrade version, I only ever install the latest version - even if no Adobe software was previously installed on that particular computer.

  • With CS4 installed already, can I uninstall InDesignCS3 without affecting the CS4 suite?

With CS4 installed already, can I uninstall InDesignCS3 without affecting the CS4 suite?
InDesignCS3 was downloaded from the internet. CS4 suite was installed from CDs. Both are currently on my computer. How can I uninstall InDesignCS3?

Just use the add/remove programs feature in the control panel, but I would strongly suggest that you don't do this. If you ever need to supply a CS3 file you'll be sorry you uninstalled it.

  • CS4 Install Tips - OS X

I could not get Fireworks CS4 to successfully run on my Mac
    running 10.5.5. After several install/uninstall/reboot/repair
permissions cycles, trying to install it under a different user,
installing it after a Safe Boot and pretty much everything short of
having a witch doctor attend to the computer, I finally got it to
install and run without failing with the "AMT Subsystem Failure"
    message.
If you have installed the Fireworks CS4 beta it is important
that you use the uninstaller to remove it before attempting an
    upgrade.
Being an old Mac hand I did what a lot of us do: I dragged
the beta to the trash and emptied it. I deleted the old prefs file
and thought I was done. However, after spending hours trying to get
the new CS4 installed I finally downloaded Adobe's CleanScript and
ran it. It found the beta uninstaller (!) and asked me if I'd like
to run it. I did. After rebooting (to be safe) I tried again to
    install the new CS4.
    It worked just fine.
So if you have installed the beta make sure you use the
uninstaller to remove it before attempting to install the new CS4.
Hope this saves someone some trouble.

You can install on a second computer simply copy the install files from your DVD to a USB drive.  Acrobat 9 itself may function but you may face some difficulties with PDF creation under 10.8.

  • Deactivating CS4 on failing computer running XP, upgrading to new computer running Win7.  I have CS4 installed. Do I deactivate on each product or will a single deactivation cover all?

I have CS4 installed on this computer but computer is failing and I will have to get a new one. Do I deactivate on each product or will a single deactivation cover all? Also, I see that all products are now on the cloud so is CS4 still an active product?

With any Suite, launch one app (e.g. Photoshop) and click Help > Deactivate to deactivate the entire suite.
CS4 has not been an active product since CS5 shipped in 2010. We've since had CS5, CS6, CC (subscription only) and now CC 2014 (subscription only).
Also, it depends on what you mean by active. You can still download, install and activate CS4.
However Adobe no longer does any work on CS4 and no longer supports it via Customer Service Chat etc.

No.  Votre numéro de série est pour le PC uniquement, pas le Mac. Il n'est pas possible d'échanger une licence CS4 PC pour une licence de Mac.
