CS4 Installation error

Hello,
I installed Adobe CS4 Design Premium a few weeks ago.
During installation, a message popped up on my screen 3 different times. It said "Adobe AIR" in bold, and that was followed by a couple paragraphs of text written in what appears to be Chinese. I made a screen grab of this message and can send it to you if you'd like.
Note: I don't use Adobe AIR and so for all I know, it was not installed. All the other Design Suite programs appear to have installed correctly.
I'm just curious why that error message appeared and if I should take any action on it.
Thanks

I don't recall Adobe software ever requiring removal of the previous version. Typically, you can keep multiple versions of applications on your computer. This is particularly useful at a service bureau or print service provider, where they need to exactly match the version of incoming files (not necessary of course when receiving PDF files).
The only exception I can think of is Acrobat software in Windows. There I believe it screws up the Registry to have multiple versions.

I just downloaded trial version of Adobe Flash CS4 (Englisth|Windows) but after unpacking the archive and starting setup.exe I am getting error msg (see att). Are there any error logs with more information??

An error occured while installing. Ask for help at Adobe support.
    -----------Second windows-----------

Is md5 hash available for integrity check of installation package?

    Windows Vista Ult. 64b
    Thanks for any help!

There is no fix. Flash Pro is not compatible with Win 8 even in CS6. There are dependencies with Flash Player components and the way it's handled in Win 8 prevents it from working liek the app expects.

  • "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error

Problem: "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error
Some Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Production Premium distribution disks issue an "Application not found" error while loading Disk 2 due to an error in the Autorun.inf file.
Does your Autorun.inf for Disk 2, 3, or 4 contain
    [autorun]
    open=Autoplay.exe -auto
    icon=\csppdvd.ico
    Autorun.inf should instead only say
    [autorun]
    icon=\csppdvd.ico
There should not be the line
    open=Autoplay.exe auto
Only Disk 1 should have this line.
On Disk 1, Adobe has a file called Autoplay.exe which starts the installation.
"open=Autoplay.exe auto" runs the Autoplay application.
Autoplay.exe is not on Disk 2, 3, or 4 so having the open line generates the error.
Since you cannot edit the DVD, the trick is to turn off autorun so Windows doesn't run Autorun.inf upon loading Disk 2. Look at the Wikipedia description of "Autorun" for details. Wikipedia describes how to disable Autorun using
    Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
You will need to do this for XP. Vista has a Control Panel which allows you to "Take no action" for "Software and games". If this does not work, use gpedit.msc instead. You will know Autorun is off if upon inserting Disk 1, no installation window appears.
Wikipedia notes that "AutoPlay is the name of a different feature in Microsoft Windows" not to be confused with Autorun starting the Autorun.inf file.
Now that Autorun is off, manually double click Autoplay.exe on Disk 1 to start the installation. Disk 2 should now load properly.
By the way, it appears you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Some Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Production Premium distribution disks had the same problem. Obviously, Adobe did not learn from their past mistake.
You may want to call Adobe to obtain replacement disks which don't have this error.

    Petrula,
Can you look at the DVDs and send me the numbers you find on the inner edge? Also, any numbers on the outer DVD sleeves. This can help us to identify which sets of media are affected and possibly resolve it, or at least more specifically target solution information.
    Thank you!

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Installation Error

I'm new to this site and my computer has Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.
After I installed Photoshop CS4 trial, it failed to install Photoshop, but the rest were successful. I went to get more information and this is the message:

If there is a topic similar to this one, then I shouldn't be here!

I have been using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for a few months now without any problems or errors.
But last week.. i had a virus problem and decided to do a Clean Installation of my Operating System.
I was not too worried because I have done this millions of times already... and know the process like the back of my hand.
Well.. after the clean installation was complete, i started to load my applications.
To my surprise.. Adobe Photoshop CS4 would not install. Nor would Adobe Illustrator CS4.
It would get to the screen "Adobe is beginig the installation process" and would stall ..
At first... i thought it would eventually complete on it's own.. but after a few attempts and hours of the same screen with no progress.. it was obvious Adobe was no longer responding at that stage.
I searched high and low, night and day, over a few days trying to figure out the problem.
    I was trouble-shooting everything.
In the middle of trouble-shooting, i took a break to surf the Net and see if i could find any suggestions when i ran into this Forum.
Someone mentioned disabling your Internet Security & Windows Defender.. and i thought.. no way.. it can't be that easy.
Well.. what do you know.. it was my Internet Security (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010)
After disabling Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Adobe flew right pass the part where it was stalling, and finished installation without incident.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 also installed without any problems ...
I just wanted to share my experience as i know how frustrating it can be when software refuses to install.
Good Luck to everyone.. be patient.. trial & error. .. and im sure you'll figure it out.

    @ ApologetX
I had a similar problem when i extracted the contents of my Adobe DVD and made an ISO file out of it so i would no longer need the DVD for installation.
But what i realized is that.. Adobe will not install if it's installed from the ISO.. and during installation.. an error would pop up.. and ask for the DVD
You probably have done something similar.
Here's what i did to fix:
    - Extract the contents of Adobe Photoshop CS4 into a Folder
    - and install from that ..
After i extracted the contents and installed from "setup.exe" .. the installation completed without error ..
    DVD
    - If you're having problems from the DVD .. then try to extract the Contents of the DVD on to your Desktop..
    and install from there ..
    Trial Installer
    - As for the Trial you are referring to .. im not familiar with it ..
but try to extract the contents of it to your Desktop .. and go from there ..

  • Adobe premiere pro CS4 installation error

Hi guys so I have just Download adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and when the Installation comes Like, the Overall Progress something like that and This error appears like "Please Insert the Disc 1" -- ( It may be the exact text that I have encountered but still the same content) and I pressed ok but still it appear,
Though the disk is inside the CD drive
    Steps I tried:
I tried to restart the PC and restart the installation but it still appears
They say when Installing unplug your Internet connection or disconnect from the Internet but still appears
i hope someone can help me

I am confused... first you say you downloaded CS4 (which means to connect to an Internet server and download from there to your computer) and then you say you have a disc in the drive... which is it?
If you do have a disc, and you use Windows Explorer... does it read the disc contents?
I am not sure (I went from CS3 to CS5 and did not ever use CS4) but is that a DVD disc or a CD... and do you have a DVD drive?
    More computer information would help

  • CS4 Installation Error - 1402

Hi.  I posted my initial problem last night under a different thread.  Now, I have
    more info.
The Event Viewer shows this error in MS Installer:
Product:  Adobe setup -- error 1402.  Could not open key.  UNKNOWN\components\DA42B...  System error 5.  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Here's a little background:  Rec'd DVD from Adobe, ran as Administrator and error message "set up has encountered an error and cannot continue".  System is Vista 64 bit, 8 gig RAM, 1T HD with lots of space, Nividia 9500 video card.  Previously deleted failed CS4 trial download, ran CS3 and CS4 uninstalled, cleaned registry, defragged etc.
Any insight into this error?  Thanks for your help.

Do you have Vista service pack 2 installed? If not then I would install it. If you do have Vista SP2 installed do this:
Go to start, start search and type in services. You should see services and click on that. Scroll down until you see Windows installer. Ensure it is set to manual. If it is not set to manual, Under startup type, highlight manual and right click. Click on properties. Where it reads Startup type change this to manual, hit apply. Now click on the start button to start it then ok to close.
Now if it is set to manual look for the word Start that is blue in color in the top left area. Click on this to start the service. Then close the window. Try PS CS4 install again.

  • HELP!!.. PS CS4 Installation Error!

    Hi
I'm new to this site and my labtop has Windows 7 Ultimate.
After I installed Photoshop CS4 trial, it failed to install Photoshop and show me this message:
Installation of the following components has failed: Adobe photoshop CS4
Plz help me so that i can complete the installation.

PS CS4 can no longer be downloaded from the Adobe website. Where did you get the download from? Why bother downloading PS CS4 when you can't buy a key anyways when the trial is up.
Best bet is to go to the Adobe website and download the free trial of PS CS5 extended. That way you know you have a good copy and not worry about your computer being infected.

  • CS4 Installation Problem on Mac - Error 2

I have tried for several hours to make the new install of Adobe CS4 work. The Lightroom2 install worked fine. Background: I have a macbook pro, OS/X 10.5.7, enough avail disk space. I had a trial version of LR2 and full CS2. I have done the following: checked "repair permissions" - an OS/X utility that interfered with operating Capture NX a couple years ago, so I added that step. I have uninstalled every Adobe application, using Clean Script 3 and Clean Script 4. I have tried to install CS4 in a separate user account, which has since been deleted, and again both Clean Scripts have been run. I have restarted my computer and downloaded a fresh version of CS4. I have tired to install it as a Tial version instead of an upgrade, also.  It NEARLY installs, but at the very end of the install bar, after Bridge and before finishing Photoshop installation,  I get a big red X and an error and find it is Error 2. The Adobe support pdf's have not helped, including those referenced by their little support bot.
Have spent a couple hours with Adobe Support, also.  No one knows what Error 2 means.
Also, the "support" person closed my case as though it had been resolved - said he would call me back in one hour and 2ours 45 minutes later had not called back.  He CLOSED the case, wasting my time and lying to me.

I have just committed the cardinal sin of allowing my daughter to install Adobe CS4 Web Premium on my new Mac Pro 2.26 8 Core.
I use this computer for pro music composition, and until I allowed my daughter to talk me into letting her use it for Adobe Web Premium (24" Apple screen, she has a PC laptop), it was strictly a no fly zone.
    My worst fears were realized.
Neither she, nor I, can't get a clean install. Each attempt is greeted by a 'Successful but with Errors' or some such garbage. I have submitted a support requerst but have had no reply.
The new Mac died. Apple replaced it with a new computer under Applecare Warranty, and a new hard disk, but still the problem remains.
I've tried a new partition; nope.
I get the folling error codes:
    Adobe CSI CS4

I tried to download the Adobe Support Advisor, but it would not download. I have erased the registration, followed the instructions to the letter.
    Nothing.
Adobe help in Australia were polite but did not resolve the problem. I called again and was greeted by a call centre somewhere in the Third World by someone who knew less about computers that they did about Adobe products. This poor person probably has a good job within his impoverished community, but undoubtedly paid a pittance (or why would Adobe set up a Call Centre in India), which make s it really hard to vent my frustrations without appearing racist.
I am attempting to take over the problem as there is no way a seventeen year old girl could negotiate this. I can't.
    Has anybody any clues?
Appreciate any help. I can't access my daughter's email which the product is registered through at Adobe, as it is on her school computer which is connected through the school server, but my email is [email protected].
Appreciate any help. Or the contact details of a good hit-man.

  • Windows 7 Production Premium CS4 language pack installation error + solution

Ok. Long story short...(For solution scroll all the way down)
Tried to install ubuntu next to my windows vista. Next day I found myself wondering in store searching for windows 7 because Ubuntu install ruined something somewhere inside my computer and neither one of my OS were not starting at all...
Ok. So I purchased Windows 7 with smile in my face and happiness in my soul! Now it´s clean installed and working and I have to say it is much better than Vista was...
Already installed 3d max 2009 and couple of other old programs and works like charm and softwares are starting fast!
    ...BUT
Today I tried to install my wonderful CS4 Production Premium package to this computer. All went well all the way to the end report where it said something like "installation error" and then there was few products or files on the list which it was unable to install...(I can post the exact list tomorrow when I try to uninstall and then again install suite the fourth or fifth time in a row.) After error report I was really worried. First I tried to start Photoshop and all I got was error report "some of the application components are missing from the application directory. Please re-install the application." Then I tried Illustrator and the message was "the localized resource files for this application could not be loaded. Please re-install...blah blah..." When I try to open Onlocation I get windows error "Adobe Onlocation has stopped working." Bridge and Media Encoder are working! But when tried to start After Effects, Premiere and Soundbooth it just opened the serial key window. When I write the serial from my dvd-box backlabel it gives me the nice big red X and says that my serial is not valid. But my serial was really valid just a while ago when I started to install these softwares! Oh please NO!
    Ok. So...Questions shortly:
How to get my Production Premium installation work in Windows 7 and get back to work?
How to de-activate my softwares after computer breakdown or user stupidity leading to computer breakdown so I can use my softwares again?
    EDIT:
Well...This is what I got from the error report:
Adobe After Effects CS4 LangPack (en_GB)
    Error:

Tried installing different language but it still won´t work...
Can´t install it in safe mode and installing trough troubleshooters different windows versions won´t work either...
    Any ideas anyone?
    EDIT:
Tried creating .nrg dvd-images with Nero and installing from harddrive instead of dvd-discs but still no luck. So problem is not in my dvd-drive or discs...
    EDIT:
    SOLUTION...
Adobe support answered to my question. I was missing a DOCUMENTS folder from my USERS - PUBLIC path and after I created that and un-installed & installed my production premium package, everything worked like it should! You might encounter to this same problem also if your USERS - PUBLIC - DOCUMENTS folder has some security settings on... Just right click the folder, choose security and check full control in permissions and remember to sign in as administrator when you install any software...
    Hope this tip is helpful!
    Now...Back to work!

    WOH, just what I needed.
My problem was, that I have moved my documents to another partition, but the public parts I unfortunaly don't had thinked about. . This was 'the solution'! Thank you J_Suhonen!

  • Dreamweaver CS4 critical installation error

I have upgraded to a new PC (running windows 8.1) and when I run the Dreamweaver CS4 installer I get "Critical errors were found in setup".  I don't have any other CS4 products on my PC. What should I do?

This seems to be the default answer to all Adobe installations problems. I did try the CC cleaner tool but:
    1. It says uninstall Creative Suite Applications.  I don't have any CS applications installed.  I have Illustrator 10 and Adobe Acrobat Pro installed but they don't say anything about being CS applications.  Also why should I have to uninstall other Adobe products to install Dreamweaver?
    2. It doesn't mention Windows 8 anywhere.
    3. It didn't show any products to remove.
    4. The log file it mentions doesn't exist.
    5. Why can't I talk to an Adobe support engineer?  I'm sure a quick screen share session would sort out the problem.
All in all, a bit of a waste of time.

  • Critical error during PS CS4 installation

I have just purchased the download version of Photoshop CS4, but unfortunately it won't install...
After having unpacked to the default location (desktop) and starting setup.exe, the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 Installer: Initializing" dialog appears. When it's just about 90% finished, the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 Install-Loading Setup" screen appears along with the message "Critical errors were found in setup Please see the Setup log file for details" This window is titled "Windows Internet Explorer"
It does not say where to find the log file or what its exact filename is.
Windows XP SP3 English version, Intel Core Duo 6600, 2Gb RAM, Ati Radeon X1950XTX.
I've had trials of Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2.1 on this system in the past. These have been uninstalled. I've also ran the
    CS3Clean.exe script.
I also had Photoshop Elements 3 which I've also uninstalled.
    Any suggestions welcome!

    Hi David,
    [With apologies for straying off-topic]
Im unaware of any programs or tools installed with Windows that will restore an identical copy of your registry. Besides ERUNT, several of the fix-it or registry cleaning/tweaking programs can back up & restore your entire registry, including the popular CCCleaner, but Ive seen so many folks get into trouble *Cleaning* their registry, I dont feel good recommending any of them. Of course you shouldnt have to use any Cleaning features to backup & restore your Registry, but the temptation is always there. ERUNT on-the-other-hand is a One-trick Pony, & does nothing but backup & (if need be) restore your registry, & for pre-Vista Windows I cant recommend it enough.
Typing Regedit into the Run box starts the Windows program of the same name, and it works fine exporting backups of individual keys, sub-keys, or even the entire registry, BUT, while merging back individual keys, or importing saved, partial registry backups works fine, you cant restore the entire registry with Windows running... you cant replace any keys/values that Windows is using at the time, so you have to restore the registry outside of Windows.
This is something many sites get wrong, & Ive seen recently where Adobe has repeated this mis-statement too, advising their users to backup their complete Registry using Regedit. A relatively harmless way to prove the point is to set a Restore Point [out of an abundance of caution ;^) ], backup your entire registry with Regedit, then try to merge the exported .reg file. IMHO its better to find out it doesnt work *before* you really, REALLY, need it to work.
Backing up & restoring the entire registry is what Windows System Restore is supposed to do, since it changes things during a reboot/restart, before Windows fires up. The problem with System Restore is that it wont always delete every new key or value added, just like it wont delete every file change since the Restore Point was created. Vistas System Restore is better than earlier versions of Windows, keeping a shadow copy of your drives contents in a special format, but its not perfect. [note: just looking at that drive in other operating systems will delete any restore data if they dont understand the special format Shadow Copy uses]
If a person is experienced with Registry editing, in this case IMHO theres nothing at all wrong with using Regedit to export (save) just the Post Platform keys with sub-keys they plan on deleting. But if someones unsure about Registry editing, or just wants an extra measure of safety, back up the whole thing first using whatever favorite tools - just make sure restoring your backup works, or youve wasted your time.
    Thanks,
    mike

  • CS4 Fatal error at Installation!!

    Hi,
i recently purchased the Design Premium student edition for windows and upon installing it,
i receive an installation error on the first cd due to Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, as i continue installation too the 2nd cd i receive a fatal error at installation due to the programs. It also states that i do not have an up to date service pack when i am running Windows vista business on Service pack 2!
    Help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    Thanks.

Well after 3 weeks waiting for technical support to ring, they finally did and they told me to remove all files in 'temp files' folder, i also had to remove previous files in 'common files' folder such as Illustrator CS3 in my case and then make a new account on Vista that had administrator privledges and installed it through that account. I also stopped all running software, when in the installation i received the Service Pack notification that it wasn't the relevant pack but kept on going and ended up working fine!
If you cant do it yourself, and have an open case over Adobe site, then i suggest ringing the receptionist of local Adobe office and tell them that you've been waiting for weeks and want them to ring you ASAP (sound serious). Give them phone and case details and tech support should ring that day. It worked for me!
Good luck and hope it works!
