CS4 Installation Issues

Hi,
I'm having a rather difficult time re-installing my Adobe CS4. I had it installed on windows 7 before, but recently crashed it. When I went to reinstall Adobe it comes up with "Installation Error" on the first disk and tells me all the programs have failed to install. An error number is not given.  I downloaded the Adobe Support Advisor and it says there is no issue? I then contacted customer support via telephone and they reccomended that I go onto my admin account, run a CS4 Cleaner Utility then try installing again. I have tried this, but I still get the same error message.
I am running Windows7 Home Premium 64bit.
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz
4GB Ram
I've no idea how to fix this. Has anyone ran into a similar issue and is there any way to resolve it?
Help much appreciated,
Chelsea

I was on the phone with customer service again today and copied the files to my desktop, yet it still
won't install. Looking into the matter more I found the two errors were error numbers 1603 and 1935. I looked through the forums and googled around a bit, but the fixes still aren't working.
I've booted off the disks before which is why it's so puzzeling to me now.

  • Web Premium CS4 Installation Issues

I've been trying to install Web Premium CS4 on my Windows Vista Home Premium computer and keep getting a "setup error->contact customer support" message every time i click the install button, it happens almost immediately. Seeing how customer support isn't available on the weekend i figured i should post my problem here. This is my first time installing any Adobe CS product, so there shouldn't be any conflicting programs on my computer. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

    Problem FIXED!
    Round one with Adobe:
I called Adobe once in the morning and discussed how could fix my setup error message and actually install Web Premium CS4 on my computer. They told me the usual such as turn off my antivirus software, mess with msconfig and restart, turn off UAC everything i have already tried but i did it again just to see if by magic it would work, but alas, it did not. Then Adobe told me there was pretty much nothing they could do and to call my computer manufacturer. So i had a conversation with DELL and they basically told me to contact Adobe again....by this point i have spent over 3 hours making phone calls, and it's becoming very irritating. So i think to myself, i'm calling Adobe again and if they can't help me today with this problem i want a refund because it just not worth all this crap. My morning is gone and now my afternoon is about to be, also, i've restarting my computer what feels like 20 times, that can't be good for it.
    Round two with Adobe:
I call Adobe again, have another hour plus conversation with them but this time they were much more helpful and they gave me a customer number(why they didn't do that the first time, i'm not sure)and a case number. What i ended up doing was running CS3 cleanscript(i didn't have any previous Adobe software on my computer but they still told me to run it) on my computer about 6 times, then they directed me to microsofts website to download something random for my 32bit Vista machine which checks my machine and made sure certain javascript.dll and vgscript.dll files were running. Also Adobe had to take care of some registration issues on there end. And BAM! problem fixed. And now i have Adobe Web Premium CS4 on my computer and so far so good. Anyways, for everyone who is getting the "setup error-please contact customer support", you need to do exactly that because they had me doing some things to my computer which the average person wouldn't know how to do.
So basically what i'm saying, don't waste time like i did(i was forced becaue it was the weekend and Adobe support is closed) and restart your computer 20 times changing this and that crossing your fingers hoping it will work. Adobe should be able to help. They were not helpful the first time around but the second time i called(the same number) it was almost like i dailed a completely different number and unlocked the "real" Adobe because the experience was completely different.. So call them multiple times if you have too because it seems like it will be a different experience each time. So basically it was a 4 hour ordeal that i hope to never go through again. So goodluck!

  • CS4 Installation Issue.

Hi again all. I have tried and tried to install CS4. Everytime, it reaches 90% an just stops. No Blue Screen, no errors in the event log - nada.
I have double checked my system requirements and I have more that sufficient equipment to meet the requirements. My anti-virus has been disabled and there is nothing untowards running on my system.
I've also redownloaded the eval/trial version and the same thing - just hanges. I've even excercised extreme patience and waited 45 minutes before killing the stup process.
Reboot, checked for viruses and other malware.
I have taken the time to very mithodically scower the web for answers to no avail.
I sure hope someone can help as we would like to mover from CS2 to CS4 (we bypassed CS3 as we heard there were issues).
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers

  • Issues With CS4 Installation on Win 8?

I purchased CS4 (Web Premium) on  disc several years ago, and it has been working fine on my  Win XP computer ever since. The Adobe software has all the current  updates, though I am using the CS4 version of Acrobat Pro (9.xx) rather  than a more recent (free) version of Reader.,
Unfortunately,  my computer's hard drive has fried, and I just purchased a new Windows 8  machine, which will arrive shortly.  I am trying to determine:
    1. Are there any general issues with CS4 installation on Win 8 that I should know about in advance?
    2. Are there specific procedures (de-activation?) that I need to follow BEFORE attempting the installation on the new computer?
    3. Other than specific user issues, are there problems with CS4 versus Windows 8 that I would not encounter with Windows 7.
I  enhance photos and create web sites for a living, so the CS4  installation is mission-critical. I am hoping I did not make a mistake  in ordering a Win 8 machine...
Thanks for any and all insights.

OK, fair enough. Maybe someone who has actually experienced this situation (CS4 --> Win 8 machine) might see this and offer some tips to avoid hassles. But I will try the install as soon as I get the new machine and post any ensuing issues/problems here.
As for de-activation of the previous installation on the XP machine, that is now impossible, as the hard-drive is fried. Unless there is a way to de-activate an installation some other way (without actually opening the programs).  That said, I AM able to access files on the fried harddrive, so if there is a specific file that controls de-activation, I could access it on the old machine.  However, I may not be able to actually RUN said file on that machine, but can copy it to a stick and move it elsewhere. So, any thoughts on deactivation of an installation on a deceased computer?

  • Installation issue CS2 / CS4

    Goal
I have CS4 Design Premium but want to install CS2 Premium for having GoLive.
    Issue
When system starts autoplay to install CS2 Premium I can just choose language (only choice finnish) and then I have 2 error codes and the process ends. Error codes are 1) .\Autoplay\LangData\fi_FI\lang.dat, 2) DATA_FILE_VERSION. I also tried to install directly from the folder but there is only setup.exe.manifest which does not run anything.
    Specs
I'm using Windows XP, CS4 is installed, took Acrobat out, install disc is flawless, I have 2 times left for install, same issue checked with another computer, tried CS4 installation and it started fine, Adobe help does not want to help CS4 customers anymore.

There are no setup.exe. But there are setup.exe.manifest in the main folder (in the pic). öhöm... I found "Suite installer" from the folder you mentioned above... and it rocks, I have now what I wanted - Golive working with all CS4 programs. By my experience I was just looking for setup.exe, just blind for anything else. And when put CD1 in there poped up Adobe chat and got some more info about my case and I'm very happy to Adobe again.

  • "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error

Problem: "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error
Some Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Production Premium distribution disks issue an "Application not found" error while loading Disk 2 due to an error in the Autorun.inf file.
Does your Autorun.inf for Disk 2, 3, or 4 contain
    [autorun]
    open=Autoplay.exe -auto
    icon=\csppdvd.ico
    Autorun.inf should instead only say
    [autorun]
    icon=\csppdvd.ico
There should not be the line
    open=Autoplay.exe auto
Only Disk 1 should have this line.
On Disk 1, Adobe has a file called Autoplay.exe which starts the installation.
"open=Autoplay.exe auto" runs the Autoplay application.
Autoplay.exe is not on Disk 2, 3, or 4 so having the open line generates the error.
Since you cannot edit the DVD, the trick is to turn off autorun so Windows doesn't run Autorun.inf upon loading Disk 2. Look at the Wikipedia description of "Autorun" for details. Wikipedia describes how to disable Autorun using
    Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
You will need to do this for XP. Vista has a Control Panel which allows you to "Take no action" for "Software and games". If this does not work, use gpedit.msc instead. You will know Autorun is off if upon inserting Disk 1, no installation window appears.
Wikipedia notes that "AutoPlay is the name of a different feature in Microsoft Windows" not to be confused with Autorun starting the Autorun.inf file.
Now that Autorun is off, manually double click Autoplay.exe on Disk 1 to start the installation. Disk 2 should now load properly.
By the way, it appears you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Some Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Production Premium distribution disks had the same problem. Obviously, Adobe did not learn from their past mistake.
You may want to call Adobe to obtain replacement disks which don't have this error.

    Petrula,
Can you look at the DVDs and send me the numbers you find on the inner edge? Also, any numbers on the outer DVD sleeves. This can help us to identify which sets of media are affected and possibly resolve it, or at least more specifically target solution information.
    Thank you!

  • Does CS4 installation disable all CS3 software currently installed.

I am posting this topic on both mac and PC sides of the ID forum.
I am pursuing an upgrade to CS4 and a sales guy at Adobe told me that all my CS3 products won't work anymore once I install CS4. That sounds WAY off base to me, but I think he was trying to scare me into buying Master Collection.
Also, I have CS3 Master Collection. But I only need to upgrade to InDesign CS4. Is it true that I can't only upgrade just ONE product in a suite? (I know what Adobe is telling me, but I wanted to check with the end users who also have to personally fork out the big bucks for this software.) Thanks to any of you who can offer insight on this issue.

The CS4 installer doesn't touch the CS3 installation with one exception.
On the Windows side (not sure about Mac) it will uninstall and earlier
    version of Acrobat.
Other than that you'll have two fully function applications.
And no...you cannot upgrade single suite applications. That's the deal
you made when you got a huge discount on the suite.

I'm not an expert on Adobe online policy, but other than the update files I believe all the CS4 distribution files have been taken offline when CS5 was released.
Unless you've found a process l I'm not aware of, I believe the typical process is to arrange with Adobe for the Mac-to-PC platform crossing, and I don't think the license you're transferring "from" remains active.  When you arrange for the licensing transfer with Adobe, they may provide you with media, I don't know.
Assuming you're already working with Adobe, haven't they given you some instruction in this regard?
    >> This was exactly my motivation for opening this thread: I have been singularly unsuccessful communicating with Adobe on this issue. Chat support asked for license number, kept me waiting several minutes, then copped out, saying I had to upgrade to CS5 for $200.00.

Then tried selecting "Schedule a callback" and received the same screen as above.

  • My problems with CS4 installer

"You're free to speak your mind my friend as long as you agree with me."
    The Ostrich, Steppenwolf (the group)
I was wondering if the post I made two days ago had generated any feedback.
It did, in the form of having been removed from the forum. Well, Adobe, it's your football, so why don't I try again, minus the part where I carped about the outsourced support, and the sparse information available online.
I just got upgrade edition of CS4 Design Premium. It won't install. I've wasted an entire weekend trying. I tried every tip I could find in the Forums and KB, and none of them work. I am trying to upgrade an installed copy of Design Premium CS3.The symptoms are as follows:
No icons get created for the parts of CS4 that do install.
Illustrator, In Design and Acrobat won't install.
Installer aborts with uninformative error message.
Installer sometimes kills jscript, but refuses to run without it.
Installation has borked my system three times, obliging me to restore my C: drive from backup image.
Support tool doesn't identify any problems.
From the posts I've read, it would appear Acrobat is the problem. I'd like to try once more with CS3 Acrobat uninstalled, but it doesn't appear to have its own uninstaller. My difficulties typify two problems I've seen in other software in the last year. Vista compatibility sometimes breaks XP apps, and has been one of the principal reason XP testing has become less through than it should be (I have XP Pro system). Also, monolithic installers that try to do a dozen things at once are failure prone. These often have cleanup scripts written after the fact, and those get even less rigorous testing than the installers whose flaws they are trying to fix.
I had a CS3 issue when it was first introduced. My call was fielded promptly by a U.S. based technician who provided a solution in less than a minute... (This is where the part appeared that I suspect got my submission bounced the last time.)
Since previous post, I've killed another evening for nothing. I'd like one question answered; the KBs say that cleanup script leaves CS3 in working condition, but the first thing it asks permission to do is remove CS3 from the system. Does it in fact do this? I have no way of knowing since I've had to restore from image backups both times I ran it, and I can ill afford to have neither version working.

    Hi William-
I am sorry you are having trouble getting up and running.
As Bob/Peter have said we put a lot of effort into improving the installer experience in CS4 but there is some issue going on that I would like to help you resolve.
Have you tried the "Adobe Support Advisor" tool?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/
This tool looks at your install log and helps direct you to a specific Tech Doc if there is a known issue flagged. It also helps package up your installation log which the support folks may beed to help troubleshoot the issue
    Regarding...
"At bare minimum, I would have expected to have been assigned a case number by now, to have been told how common my issue(s) were, and given some idea of how likely it would be that a fix would be forthcoming. So far, after two long telephone calls, one to Customer Service and one to Technical Support, all I have learned is that installation issues are quite common. I am still waiting for a case number for these issues, submitted via web two days ago, and I have been unable to learn how high a priority has been assigned to real fixes or workarounds. "
When you talked to Customer Support/Tech Support you should get a case number. If you can send me the case number(s) I can help you get this escalated.

  • Lightroom 4.2 Installation Issue

Leaving this around in case anyone else has the same problem -- Solution found -- Windows installer issues / registry issues -- used the Microsoft Fix it tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso3) to correct.  4.2 install ran fine.
I've read through the posts in the Lightroom forum regarding  LR 4.2 install issues. I will list here the things I've done to try to get the install to work:
    1) Downloaded the installation software twice.
    2) Ran the setup program in admin user mode.
    3) Ran the install in admin user mode.
    4) Get the following error in a Windows Installer window:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi' in the box below.
    Use source:
    c:\Users\RMJF\AppData\Local\Temp\{...}
What I have found (after displaying hidden AppData folder):
The location where the .msi file resides is different from the one defaulting in the above window.
I select this alternate path, but still cannot complete the installation.
Furthermore, when I cancel the install, I get this error:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2 64-bit Installer Info
Error 1714. The older version of Adobe Photoshop Lightoom 4.2 64-bit cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group
I have been running LR since the beginning of time and most recently LR 4.1, so there is no 4.2 installed.
Also, I tried to fix the install of 4.1 via the programs in Control Panel. I cannot repair it and get this error:
The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
All versions (except the 1.0 version) were downloaded and installed from the Adobe LR site.
    So, looking for suggestions.
Seems like there are some missing files from the 4.1 version that are hindering the install of 4.2???
All quite frustrating.  Hope you can get me to a speedy solution.
(System info:  Windows Vista 64-bit Home, SP 2, 20 GB of disk space to spare!  Also, I have set the install program to be allowed by the anti-virus program. I have run a registry clean-up, as well.  No other apps are running during the install.)

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
But it failed but the error is ..
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
just wondering if there are any workaround ..

Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.
