CS4:  Is there an "Assets Panel"?

Hello all,
I was given instructions written for CS3, but software given was CS4.  It states:
"Select the photo, edit it in Fireworks, then insert Frame 3 from the Assets panel onto the image"
I've looked online for hours now to find out where the Assets panel is in CS4, or at least how to places this "Frame 3" onto the image.  Could anyone direct me on how to find/do this?
Thank you very much!

Without being able to read the entire tutorial and analysing how to adapt it to later versions of Fireworks, I can't say. There hasn't been an assets panel in FW for a while now. Frames don't exist in FW anymore either. They are now called states.

  • Assets Panel Date Modified Mac CS4 DW

I do not see the option to sort by date modified in the assets panel. What I liked in GoLive was I could go to the newest images I loaded in. Is there somewhat to add that column and to move the column headings around so I can have name and next to it date modified and sort by newest?

GoLive was better in having the global site open while the design window was up
Making the transition from a familiar program to one that works a different way can be disorienting. I tried GoLive only a couple of times, and found myself hopelessly lost. However, from what I understand, GoLive did have some useful features that could improve the way Dreamweaver works, not only for ex-GoLive users, but for everyone. If you have suggestions on features that would improve Dreamweaver, file a feature request through the form at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.
When submitting feature requests, they are more likely to receive positive consideration if you explain why the change would make Dreamweaver better. Comments such as "why doesn't Dreamweaver do it like GoLive?" are unlikely to get a sympathetic hearing.

  • Viewing images in ASSETS panel instead of FILES panel

When I insert an image into a webpage I get an a dialog box that advises me that the file is outside my root folder.
The dialog box then asks if I would like to DW to copy the file there now.  I click YES.
The image is then available for selection from the FILES panel.
On a Lynda.Com tutorial (and on an ADOBE help file) their images reside in the ASSETS panel.
When you click-select one of the images in their ASSETS panel you get a preview of the image and the option to declare the image as one of your favorites.
How do I go about getting my images to show up in the ASSETS panel so that the preview option is available?
As I said, my files are copied to the root folder automatically by DW.
Is there a way to select which panel they are copied to?

Images within your site are automatically available in the Assets panel. They don't even need to be in the default images folder. If the image doesn't show up, click the Refresh icon at the bottom right of the Assets panel.

  • How come some of my JPG files show up broken and some don't in my assets panel?

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and when I create JPG files, some show up in the Assets panel of Dreamweaver and some don't.  I'm miffed as to why?  I've tried resaving them as JPGs to no avail.  When you try and insert the broken ones in Dreamweaver you just get the broken link box.  I've also tried to link to the source file to no avail.  So, please help!
    Dale

    Ben,
Thanks for the video.  I learned some new stuff about the assets panel that I've been using.  However, the problem still remains.  Some of the JPGs that I've created in Photoshop CS6 show up fine and some don't.  The same happens with Illustrator.  I did find a workaround for this though.  If you open up the JPGs in Fireworks and create a slice over the image and then export the selected slice, it does show up in the assets panel unbroken.  So far it works every time.  I don't want keep going to Fireworks though.  Adobe needs to fix this problem.  In CS4, I never, ever had this problem.
    Thanks again Ben...

  • Template not in assets panel

I am using DW8 v8.0.2 & am going thru 'Macromedia
Dreamweaver 8 Complete Concepts & Techniques." It was working
great until I got to project 5 about templates. I created a new
template & it showed in the files panel. Then, I created a new
page & went to the templates category of the assets panel to
apply it & it was not there. I also noticed that many of the
images file names in the images category of the assets panel had
duplicate entries. They looked fine in the files panel & the
Windows file explorer. [I am running Windows XP home edition SP1]
    I've tried the following:
    - refreshed the site
    - rebuilt the site cache
    - deleted the site cache & re-created it
    - detached the assets panel from the files group
    - re-starting DW8
    Nothing has helped.
I did apply the template to the new page using the modify
menu, but nothing has helped the assets panel display correct
entries so that it is usable.
Is there a solution to this?

  • Cs5 ASSETS panel - dimensions of images?

    Hi!
Often need to find out smartly and fast exact dimensions of images I put into the documents for css rules especially. So I need to look up in folder where they exists to remind their dimensions. When looking to the ASSETS panel, where I can easily find all the images I use in the document I can learn about their size for example while their dimensions (even there is a special column for it) displays only with 2 minus signs (--). So whats going on with the dimensions of those images in DW CS5? I quess the ASSETS panel should displays them, should I configure DW in order to have them displayed? And when to turn it on? Or is it some bug or so...?
Thanks for help in advance. I am looking for solution some time and can not find a way to work it out:)

There's no bug, and nothing to turn on. Having said that, I have found CS5 to be very slow in populating the Assets panel with image dimensions. Dreamweaver needs to inspect the images to get the details. Depending on how many images you have got, and what other operations are being conducted by the computer at the same time, it's not instantaneous. Try clicking the Refresh icon in the Assets panel.

  • I can't see the thumbnail in the Assets Panel.

I have downloaded the newest version of PE 12 and when I download the AVI files into the assets panel, they appear, but appear black and not as any thumbnail that I can identify when trying to do my editing.  I can view them in the timeline and they play just fine, but I have a lot of clips and I can't sort through the ones that I want to use if I can't identify it in the panel.  All of the other clips show up just fine, but these AVI files (mpeg2) won't give me the thumbnail view that I need.  I'm using Windows 7.  Any ideas?

We have a lot to sort out here. Your information has been very helpful but still some gaps.
    1. When you look at the file on the computer hard drive (before it ever see Premiere Elements, what is the file extension, .mod or .avi?
    2. When these video were originally recorded by the JVC camera, were they recorded as mod 4:3 or mod widescreen 16:9?
    3. Mod standard and especially Mod standard widescreen have been highly problematic for Premiere Elements (any version). Is there any chance that you or someone else could have been trying to convert these files to something else and that the something else might be the problem now?
    4. Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot of the Properties readout that you get for the file when you right click its thumbnail in Project Assets and select Properties?
There have been two classical remedies for .mod file
    a. standard or standard widescreen, rename the file extension from .mod to .mpg before file import into Premiere Elements
    and
    b. for mod standard widescreen, use Premiere Elements Interpret Footage to correct the 4:3 look for the intended 16:9 video
    More on those matters later.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 11 Project Assets Panel

I've added media from my hard drive, where the file numbers are in numerical order.  However, when the files arrive the Project Assets panel they are no longer in the original numerical order. I've tried the Sort by button but this doesn't arrange them into numerical order. Will somebody offer a solution please?

    Colin of Bishopthorpe
If you have your files in numerical order in a folder on the computer hard drive, you should be able to import that whole folder into Premiere Elements 11 via its Add Media/Files and Folders to get the folder into Project Assets (does not matter Grid or List view).
    From the Grid view perspective...
    a. double click the imported folder now in Project Assets
You will find the folder items ordered numerically
    b. if you want to get those ordered items back into the folder, then click on the icon to the right of the search field in Project Assets. That icon will probably be named "My new video .(name of your project)"
Another approach is to create an album for the items in the Elements Organizer that comes with the program and then import the album from Elements Organizer to Premiere Elements in order to keep your numerical sequence.
Until proven otherwise, clicking on the name header in Project Assets (in List view) will not arrange your items in numerical order if they have become unsorted. If your items show up as 98, 100, 101, 102, 103. all that the name clicking will do is to reverse the order (to 103, 102, 101, 100, 98) and not sort them out.
There are some possibilities in the List view using the folder import approach. More details to follow if necessary, but basically move files out and back into the folder in Project Assets List view to get the necessary ordering. But, I find this an unpreferred detail to follow up on.
Please review and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions on anything that I have written.
    Thank you.

  • The Project Assets panel is empy when I open my project the next time

When I Add Media the Project Assetts and save the Project, the Asset file is empty when I open the project the next time.

    BobHp17
Please excuse if I repeat, but I just want to make that I am not taking anything for granted.
    1. Given that I opened Premiere Elements 12 new project, and that the Expert workspace Project Assets is as shown in screenshot 1, unopened. All I did here was to open the program and this was the view.
At this point, Project Assets will remained closed until
    a. I click on the triangle next to the words "Project Assets" (then I will have an empty Project Assets since I have not yet imported media. See screenshot 2.
    or
    b. I import media into the project.
While you are working in the Expert workspace with your media on the Timeline, do you click on the triangle next to the words Project Assets to close Project Assets so that its presence does not obstruct your view of the project while you are editing?
It is normal for you to open this saved/closed project and see the Project Assets panel closed. To open it again, please refer to the above two mentions. I just want to make sure you are distinguishing between an empty Project Assets panel and one that is closed and that needs to be opened to see its contents.
If you have content on the Timeline, then you "must" have a thumbnail for each it in Project Assets. There are 2 views for Project Assets - which one of them are you in...Grid View or List View? See Panel Options/Views/Grid View and List View.
Panel Options icon is to the right of the Pin icon.
Another thought, what are the properties of the media that you have on the Timeline which are not being represented in the save/closed/reopened project's Project Assets?
Let us confirm the details. If confirmed, we may want to go to deleting the settings file.

  • Using to Asset Panel links to 'Poin to File'

    Hi,
In the properties panel, when I create a link, I can use the "Point to File" icon, (to the left of the Src), and click&drag the cursor to a file on the FILES panel and by so create the link.
When I try to click&drag to the Assets panel nothing happens and no link is created.
Is there a way to enable the “point to File” link for the assets panel as well?
When I add my favorites to the Favorites panel it would be convenient to link to it as well.
    Dan

Assets panel is nothing more than a list of the assets used in your site.   It doesn't respond to "click & drag."
Add links directly via the link field on your properties panel.  If you hit the down arrow, you'll see a list of recent links in the history folder.  If it's a new link, hit the "browse" icon to find the file.

  • How do you remove items from the assets panel that are duplicated?

How do you remove items from the assets panel that are duplicated?

If you add an item to a slideshow, you'll usually see 2 entries for that image in the assets panel - one represents the thumbnail, and the other represents the larger 'hero' image.
It sounds like you may have added the same image to your slideshow twice. You can select one of the hero images or thumbnail images in your slideshow and use the delete key to remove it. Then the extra 2 entries in the assets panel should disappear.

  • Assets panel styles, can i change the color of a style to be an exact color?

Assets panel > styles, can i change the color of a style
to be an exact color? for example, if i want to create a navbar
with the black and gray glass affect style, but i want to change
the color but keep the same style of shading. each style in the
assets panel has a default color, but i want to change the color
and keep the style. i did change the color a little bit by
adjusting the hue and saturation, but i can't seem to get an exact
match of the color i am trying to duplicate. any help is greatly
    appreciated thanks

When a style is applied to any object, the Properties panel
at the bottom will reflect the attributes which are editable in
that applied style. The properties which can be edited are fill and
stroke colors also apart from adjusting the Hue and Saturation.
Gradient colors can be modified by changing the fill color.
The nodes in the gradient will change the color from blue to black
or any other intended color of change. If you know the color you
can either enter it as a 6 digit value or you can pick a color from
    an existing object.
Hope it helps. Let me know I am missing you query
    completely.

How to make a photo STAY in the assets panel for future use for In browser editing?
When I delete a photo from a page, it does not stay in the assets panel. My client uses in browser editing daily. Once a week he changes a photo just for a day, then needs the previous photo to replace it. The original photo is not in the asset panel (or folder) for him to choose.
When you upload a photo, it has an arrow in the asset panel. How do you use this as an asset?

Sure ... right mouse click on  your page and choose 'Exclude Page from Menus' :-)

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running? I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now.

the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can

If no success with the above, then...
With video or still in Documents and Premiere Elements opened to the Expert workspace, right click the computer taskbar and select Cascade Windows.
