CS4 - Lion crashes when asked to print

Hi
I really would like to get my CS4 ind working in Lion.
I can open a file and work on it and all is well,
As soon as I go into any of the print options (Print, Print Booklet ect) it crashes.
1. I have Trashed my preferences etc by keyboard method  ( Can find the hidden Macintosh in Lion: Hard Drive/Users/<USER>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/<Version #>/<Language>/)
2. I have repaired the permissions
Any help would be appreciated as the program was a significant investment

  • CS4 Indesign crashes when sending to print on Mavericks OS 10.9.1?

Does anyone know of a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    EH

    Thanks for your response everyone.
First: My installation was a full install on a new Mac Book pro on OS 10,9.1.
(The installation was from an upgrade, but as a full version).
—I had updated to Java  1.6.0_65
—And had updated to the latest version of Adobe Drive.
—And had run all of the Adobe CS4 updates after installation.
i verified through my HP desktop printer vendor that there wasn't a problem with the printer connection or printer.
Then I worked with an Apple tech to troubleshoot this problem approaching it as a problem with the operating system. It proved not to be the Mavericks operating system but an Adobe software update problem.
I was also at the same time having a problem with Acrobat requesting entry of the Admin password each time before it would open.
I noticed that Acrobat had not updaed to the latest version of 9.5.5 in the install.
I mentioned this to the Apple tech and he researched Adobe's site to locate the sequential updates for Acrobat 9.0 to 9.5.5.
This problem ceased oddly enough when I corrected this problem with Adobe Acrobat requiring a password each time to open.
In order to stop Acrobat from requesting the Admin password, I manually downloaded and  installed from Adobe's site every Acrobat update in order from 9.0 to 9.5.5.
The problem with Acrobat stopped early on in the updates, but returned again in one of the later updates. It disappeared altogether after continuing with the sequential updates to 9.5.5 and Acrobat 9.5.5 is functioning beautifully. Also the automatic software update in Acrobat was not functioning in 9.0 from inside of Acrobat. But after doing all of the updates that feature is available. However 9.5.5 is the last update for Acrobat 9.
I then was able to run an update for InDesign CS4 from the InDesign automatic software update feature and now InDesign is printing without crashing.
I also with disk utility verified and repaired disk permissions after all of the updates were completed.
here's the link for the Acrobat updates
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh
It worked for  my situation and I  hope this helps others with a similar problem.
You might make sure that there aren't any issues with printing from your desktop printer vendor and the Apple operating side first.

  • Itunes crashes when asked to print play list selection

I am trying to print selections from a playlist I burned on a disc. Whenever I ask it to print, the print window pops up but before I can select the format for the printing I receive an error message "ituns has encountered a problem and needs to close). I'm not sure how long this has been going on (i.e. what itunes version I was running). However, I was able to print previously without any trouble. I have tried 1) rebooting, 2) highlighting the selection, 3) unchecking songs that I don't need on the print out. Does the size of the library have anything to do with printing issues? Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks.

Copy the playlist off the CD/DVD, open it, and then try to print it. I have found that trying to perform many seemingly simple functions from a external media source (especially where there is no 'write' capability) can result in application crashes or just nothing at all (Mac and PC), until the file is copied to the HD.

For PowerPC-based computers, you should consider the following points:
Focus on three values: srr0, lr, and the exception address (described earlier).
srr0 is the program counter at the time that the exception occurred. That is, it's the address of the instruction that caused the exception. For most non-memory access exceptions (for example, EXCBADINSTRUCTION caused by executing an illegal instruction), this is the key value. For memory access exceptions, it's only part of the equation.
lr is typically used to hold the return address of a function call.
    For memory access exceptions:
    o
If srr0 is equal to the exception address, the exception was caused by fetching instructions. Typically this means that you've called a bogus function pointer (or, equivalently, called a method on a bogus object). In this case the return address is typically in lr, which tells you the address of the code that called the bogus function pointer.
    o
Furthermore, if srr0 is equal to lr which is equal to the exception address, your program has crashed returning from a function. This typically means that you've corrupted the stack (the return address is typically saved on the stack during the execution of a function) and then died returning to a bogus address.
    o
If srr0 is not equal to the exception address, the exception was caused by a memory access instruction (in terms of C, this means that you're dereferencing an invalid pointer).

  • Firefox crashes when trying to print a certain page

I process orders placed on our web site. As soon as I updated to v6.0 and then V6.0.1 at a particular page when I need to print out invoices (and only on this page - I print two other pages as well during the processing) firefox crashes when trying to print all, print one page or print preview. It is not every single time but most times. I never had this problem in any earlier version.
It happened in safe mode as well.
If it wasn't for the group tabs which I love in v6 I would go back to v5.0 as it is quite inconvenient and costs me extra time to have this happen. I have to display each of the invoices individiually and print them which never causes a crash.
    I have submitted fourteen reports:

  • Firefox 31.0 bug - FF crashes when trying to print Amazon web pages

Using Mac OS 10.6.8. Firefox crashing issue just started occurring for me after updating to FF 31.0 on 8-5-14. Prior to that FF has always worked perfectly for me with no printing issues or any other issues. Luckily FF does not crash when printing anything else. All other web pages work well so far except for Amazon.
Tried many different listings on Amazon but I get the same result; instant crash. Command P brings up the Print Window successfully, but as soon as I make the choice to Print, Preview or Save as a pdf, FF crashes. (By the way, my Safari browser works perfectly when printing these same web pages on Amazon. No crashes.)
Tried every single one of the Help suggestions regarding the printer settings, preferences, and other help suggestions for crashing issues but they made no difference at all. Cleared my FF cookies and cache, cleared my system and user caches, updated Flash Player and checked that all plugins were up-to-date, ran Disk Utility to repair permissions, and reset PRAM, but no luck.
Decided to reset FF last night but that resulted in no change at all. FF still crashes when attempting to print from Amazon. I reported this issue to Amazon, and they said they would contact Mozilla about it too. Thank you.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

Hi, Chris. Thanks for giving this query a look. I have the same problem. All documents print on my HP Deskjet 932C except Photoshop files since I updated to Mavericks.
    My CS5 version is 9.0 x64. Mavericks is 10.9.4.
I checked the HP drivers and HP doesn't have one for OS X newer than 10.4.
