CS4 loading RAW images very slowly

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4 to support my new Canon 50D RAW file format. It is taking Photoshop about 12 seconds to open each file, and this is a real killer when running a batch. Is this typical with these huge 15MP images? I am running a 2.8Ghz machine on Windows XP and 2GB of RAM. My CS2 was very fast opening 8MP RAW images. Any insight on this is greatly appreciated.

i am new to java3d, as u can very well know from my
last question. i have loaded raw images in awt panels,
but how can i do the same with java3d.Use a simple plane in 3d space and put your image as texture on it.
please help me with one more question, if my image is
very large, how can i pan through the image?
also, if anyone can tell me what can i do with images
that are not powers of 2?
Resize it. You could use the TexureLoader, which does a resizing afaik.
its my final semester project. please help me.

  • How can I best load RAW images from a Canon SX50?

How can I best load RAW images from a Canon SX50?

9Sorry, ........confused about this process.   When I attempted to Post the question I had entered, I was told a blank space could not be posted.  So, I reentered the Q in the "space"........ which apparently was the space for an answer....!! ??......)
    >  When I try to load RAW images taken by my Canon SX50 from the SD card, iPhoto 11 -  (iMac/OSX 10.6.8) tells me that it can't read the format or something like that.    OSX 10.6.8 came out before the SX50, thus, did not include the related program.           I want to shoot RAW on the SX50....... but I then want to load them into iPhoto....... which I do directly from pics I take with my Nikon D200.
Not sure if this will help.............

I cannot seem to load raw images into LR 2.5.  I've been using this for years.  I always load from memory card, but it gives me an unknown error message.  I tried to load from camera, hard drive, & external drive and still will not work.  I checked import menu and nothing has changed.  I loaded the photos onto my tablet and images are fine, so do not feel it is the memory card.  Any thoughts?

The error message probably said "unsupported or damaged"
The T3 requires Lightroom 3.4.1 or later. You can either upgrade to a more current version of Lightroom (version 5.6 is the most recent) or you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the RAWs to DNG, which should import into Lightroom properly.

  • Need help with Elements loading RAW images since I switched cameras.

I recently switched from a Canon Rebel XT to a Canon Rebel T1i. I have Elements 6.0 and was able to see RAW images with my old camera. For some reason the RAW images aren't loading in Elements now. I get a message saying the files are corrupt. I've tried different cards but still no difference. Any suggestions?

you need at least ACR 5.4 for your T1i/500D
ACR 5.6 and therefore earlier versions work on PSE 6.
You should upgrade your PSE 6 to ACR 5.6; it does work on PSE 6 at least in WIndows. I know because ACR 5.6 works on my PSE 6 under Windows Vista.

  • A different version of the problem loading raw images edited in LR 3.3 to CS4

I have recently upgraded LR2 to LR3 (now up to 3.3). I have CS4 extended and ACR 5.7. Haven't printed for some months now because I have moved overseas (UK to Malaysia) until yesterday. The printing was a disaster because the colours printed are not as the finished print files. So I have been investigating (calibrated my monitor etc) and then I noticed any LR3 edited Nikon raw file when edited in CS4 carrying across the LR3 settings was so bad and very different to the LR3 version. The nice vibrant LR3 image was dull with inaccurate and toned down colours as though a piece of grey glass had been put in front of it.
So I have read as many of the forum questions on the related issue and have not found an answer or more to the point a solution. I run a MacPro with the latest Snow Leopard OS but all of the fixes I have tried don't change the problem. Is it a compatability problem or an error by me due to some obscure setting or something else? Never had the problem with LR2 and the same Photoshop CS4 software.
I also lost most of my LR2 edit setting for a good percdentage of the edited files when I upgarded to LR3. Don't know if this is related or another problem as now I have to redo all of the files that have lost their edited changes.
I would appreciate any help in solving this/these issues.

The question posted by me has not been answered and I am pulling my hair out trying to have my Lightroom/CS4 image processing work flow that has worked for nearly 2years back to normal.
I might as well not have lightroom as opening a lightroom 3.3 edited image in CS4 removes all of the editing done in lightroom. This appears to be true since I upgraded to v 3.3. As one person who posted in another theme suggested I tried saving a Tiff of the lightroom changes which I did via Nik Efex (I do not know how to save a raw file as a Tiff in LR as I don't do it as part of my normal workflow) but it reverted to the totally unedited version of the raw file when it opened in CS4.
Is there a problem with LR3.3 that Adobe are keeping quiet on. There was no warning when I picked uop the 'updated software' message when I opened LR a short while back. Now I am unable to use either as the processing route I use in LR is very fast compared to CS4 (in my view) and I do not have the time to completely change my work flow. I could revert back to LR3.2 but that may lose all of my editing and cause me no end of problems.
As this is an Adobe forum I thought these problems would be discussed with a lot more answers.

  • Unable to load RAW images to Photoshop elements 10

tells me that the file type is not supported. Ideas?

    You have three alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original CR2’s as backup) or (3) Use Canon DPP bundled with your camera.
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.2
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.2
You can convert a whole folder of CR2 images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Safari suddenly loading all pages VERY slowly

[ Edited by Apple Discussions Moderator; Please start a new topic about your technical issue. ]
Out of the blue, Safari (v2.0.3) has started loading pages extremely slow (between 10 and 30 seconds). I have rest Safari to no avail. I have deleted the icons folder along with the historyplist as well as anothe rplist (I can't remember hich suddenly) as suggested by others on this forum. Still slow. I have shut down and unplugged the mac, unplugged the router and cable modem. Still slow. I have disabled all languages except English. Still slow. I have tested DL and UL speeds. 6099kbps and 350kbps, respectively. I don't know if those speeds are good or not. I don't know what else to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well, instaed of downloading it, you can look in your package receipts and extract the version iof Safari you are currently running with Pacifist.
Follow the directions and you should be ok, although I don't think there's a whole lot of difference between 2.0.1 and 2.0.3.

  • Bridge not loading raw images from new camera

I just got a new mark iii camera and bridge is not recognizing the preview. Other folders from my old camera (mark II) work fine. Any ideas? I tried a Google search and someone suggested purging the cache. That didn't work. I am running CS5 on a Mac. Thanks!

Bridge has nothing to do with this.  Only the ACR plug-in can open raw files.  Bridge is just a file browser, nothing more, nothing less.  Bridge doesn't open, edit or save files.
Assuming you are referencing the Canon EOS 5D Mark III  (there are a bunch of "Mark III" cameras around), you just need to update your ACR plug-in to version 6.7.
Note that the Adobe auto updater in CS5 was and remains an utterly unreliable, useless piece of cr@p, so you are going to have to locate, download and install the ACR plug-in 6.7 manually yourself.
    Here's the link:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.7 Update
Follow the instructions on the download page to the letter.
    Good luck.

  • Firefox loads Office Ally very slowly, IE does not

We upgraded to Windows 7 with a new computer last week and reinstalled all programs. We use Office Ally for billing. When we log on, it takes about 2 minutes for information to load. This does not happen on IE. OA tech said it was a Firefox problem but we are experiencing problem on Chrome too. Thanks. Problem only started Monday but did not happen last week when computer was first activated.

    Hello KenEng,
I'm sorry you're having issues with Firefox. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Can I load RAW images

and then edit them in an app.??  It is for this reason I am keeping my macbook pro when I would like to get an ipad.  Thank you.

If you are on windows, right click the windows toolbar preferably somewhere around the clock. Select the task manager. Click the processes tab. scroll down til you find bridge. right click on the bridge name and select end process.
This will stop bridge from running, sometimes when a program runs, it does not fully stop when you close the app, for some reason, probably a bug or crash.
The other alternative it to restart windows make sure bridge is not listed in your startup menu though or it will start when windows starts.
If you have a Mac, then all i can give for advice is to restart the Mac, since I know nothing about them.
    Good luck...

  • Since update, various sites load very slowly and some do not load until "Reload Current Page" is clicked several times.

Since Firefox update (6.0.2) many sites load very slowly and some do not load at all (green circle rotates infinitely) until "Reload Current Page" is clicked on 2 to 12 times.
Returned to version 5. No more slow load.
Automatically re-updated me to 6.0.2 and now slow again.
Returned to FF 5 again and turned off automatic update.
Downloaded 7.0.1 and the problem seems to be solved.

Same here, only that updating to 7.0 or 7.0.1 doesn't seem to solve this issue. Seems to have something to do with loading images (e.g: adobe.com stops loading when "wwwimages.adobe.com" is being loaded. imdb.com, on the other hand, seems to load images very slowly and not all of them).
Safe-mode. disabling add-ons, clearing cache and cookies and checking for malware doesn't help.

  • My cs4 won't open raw image from my Canon 5D II.  What is the solution?

My CS4 opens raw images from my 40D with no problem.  However, when I try to open raw images from my new 5D II, it says it is "not the right kind of document".  Why is this?  Aren't all RAW images the same?  What is the difference between the RAW image in my 40D, and my 5D II?  Is there a solution to this?

Please repost this in the Photoshop forum. This forum is for suite specific issues only.
