[CS4/Mac] Save Document in different folder

Hello,
It sound simple, but I have problems with saving a document in a folder and I don't find the answer.
I'm opening an document in my plugin and I like to save it automatically with another name in a different folder. I tried to use SaveDocumentAs() from SDKLayoutHelper and try to save the document as '/Users/klaus/NewDocumentName.indd', but the plugin creates the document in '/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Scripts/XHTML for Digital Editions/Users/klaus/NewDocumentName.indd'.
I tried to set the current folder, but that did not work. And i have no idea, why this "Scripts/XHTML for Digital Editions" is the current folder after I opened the document. Any ideas?
Thanks
Klaus

Hi Klaus.
Try to use HFS path instead.

    When I republish my site the updates save to a different folder within public_html so it cant be viewed..... How do I change this?
    My site is up and running but if i make changes on iWeb they get put in a new folder within the public_html folder. I then click on this and they are all showing in there but i have to manually move them to the correct folder for them to be shown on my website. The folder that is made is always named whatever I enter into the SITE NAME section on the screen where the ftp information is entered.
    How can I get the updates to go directly into the public folder without it make a new folder? I have checked the settings but there isn't much I can see.
    ALSO......
    The names of the folders come up in the domain bar... how do i change this?
    thanks

  • Save file as or save file in different folder

    I want to open a file then save it in a different predetermined folder with the same name or maybe with a different name, is there a save or save as... action?
    I also want to sometimes create a new folder then rename it based on the name of the original file. Can't find that either. But I'm totally new at this.
    I'm getting stumped by both of these.
    Thanks,
    Automator newbie trying to convert 3d files to other format 3d files.
    Automator is so cool if I can get it to work.

    When using variables, the input items for the various Automator actions can be looked at like a stack of cards. You can do stuff with the stack you have, or set it aside to do stuff with a different stack and get the original stack back later.
    The following is an example that creates a folder from the name of a file, then copies the file there.
    1) *Ask for FInder Items* -- just get a single file
    2) *Set Value of Variable* { Variable: _Original Item_ } -- save it for later
    3) *Get Names of Finder Items* { Name: Basename only } -- get the name for the folder
    4) *Set Value of Variable* { Variable: _Item Name_ } -- save for use with the *New Folder* action
    5) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: _Original Item_ } (Ignore Input) -- get the file back
    6) *New Folder* { Name: _drag Item Name variable here_ Where: wherever } -- create & copy
    Note that this workflow takes advantage of the fact that if items are passed to the *New Folder* action, it will copy them to the newly created folder.
    Since there isn't a way to loop a workflow other than the whole thing, to handle multiple items you would need to use an action such as the *Dispense Items Incrementally* action from http://automator.us/leopard/downloads/. The action will take your original input items and dispense them one at a time each time the workflow loops.

  • When saving a bookmark, only three of my folders are shown, though I have many ... how can I save into a different folder?

    I have several different bookmark folders, but when I want to save into one of them only three are shown ... always the same three, and no apparent reason for only these to be chosen. I cannot get the complete list by using the right-hand down arrow, and "choose" doesnt show any of my own folders, only Unsorted Bookmarks and Bookmarks Menu. I have to save the bookmark into unsorted, then move it into the desired folder. How can I do this in one step?

  • How do I save document with different name

    Since I updated my softwhere, can't seem to find how to "save as"....help!

    Hi Draomin,
    Your profile shows this:
    Draomin's Products
    iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
    iPad, iOS 6.1
    Mac Book Pro 17", Mac OS X (10.4.6), 1 Gig/Manuf date of April 2006
    Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
    MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
    If your profile is correct, then I surmise that you are using OSX Lion. "Save As" is not available in Lion.
    Your options:
    1. Upgrade to Mountain Lion. You will see that "Save As" is back. You will find "Save As" by holding down the option (alt) key when you use the File menu in Pages, Numbers, TextEdit and other apps under Mountain Lion.
    2. Stay with Lion and learn how to use "Duplicate". It is not hard.  See my replies to this thread:

  • How can I save a 2009 project in 8.5 without making it a copy in a different folder

    I have a project where some files have accidentally been saved in 2009. I want to save them back to 8.5. The save for previous version option makes me create a different folder and then gets the heirarchy incorrect. How can I resave all VI's in there current location without having to save under a different folder?

    You don't-  you let LabVIEW save them then move them then resolve the conflicts the next time you open them since the vi's will load dependancies from a different location and you'll get a bunch of warnings and conflicts.
    This type of mistake can cause a lot of heartache- its painful but, like putting your hand on the grill, you soon learn not to do that again!

  • How can I allow Contribute Users to save documents somewhere other than "docs"?

    Our website was rebuilt by an outside company, who took my file structure and dumped it into the new site (I use Dreamweaver and our staff uses Contribute for their little niche of the web). We have a large site with multiple folders within the site. Those folders have several folders below them to sub-divide the tons of info we have to keep straight. However when I set up the parameters for the Contribute users, I only seemed to have one option to save documents (the "docs" folder).
    I need for Contribute users to be able to save documents/files deeper in the file structure. How can I do that?
    Thanks for any assistance! I hope this made sense.
    Mark

    The answer depends on how "good" your Contribute users actually are. By default, Contribute always places documents in the same folder as the page in a "documents" folder. I see two potential options: (1) the user(s) needs to go to the where the document needs to live and place the link at that level or (2) you can show your user the "Publish File From My Computer" (under file, in the third section) which would allow them to place the document in the correct location and then link to it from whatever page is appropriate. Personally, that would be a last choice.

  • How do I create an action to save as, but into a different folder than the one I used to create the action?

    I am having an issue with my action being created to save under the same folder that my action was created with.  For instance, I opened an image, recorded the action, then I went to a different folder to play the action, but it saves to the previous folder.  How do I add some way to change the folder I want my pics to save to?

    If you want to give Scripting a try paste the following text into a new file in ExtendScript Toolkit and save it as a jsx-file into Photoshop’s Presets/Scripts-folder.
    // saves jpg into same folder;
    // be advised: this  overwrites existing jpgs of the same name without prompting.
    // 2010, use it at your own risk;
    #target photoshop;
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
    var thedoc = app.activeDocument;
    // getting the name and location;
    var docName = thedoc.name;
    if (docName.indexOf(".") != -1) {var basename = docName.match(/(.*)\.[^\.]+$/)[1]}
    else {var basename = docName};
    // getting the location, if unsaved save to desktop;
    try {var docPath = thedoc.path}
    catch (e) {var docPath = "~/Desktop"};
    // jpg options;
    var jpegOptions = new JPEGSaveOptions();
    jpegOptions.quality = 12;
    jpegOptions.embedColorProfile = true;
    jpegOptions.matte = MatteType.NONE;
    //save jpg as a copy:
    thedoc.saveAs((new File(docPath+'/'+basename+'.jpg')),jpegOptions,true);
    //that’s it; thanks to xbytor;

  • HT201361 Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop. How can I change the folder?

    Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop (that is the default). How can I change the destination folder? Thank you, Sal

    To change the screenshot capture location to a new place on your Mac, first think of a location that would serve you properly. We like to place ours in a "Screenshot" folder located inside of the User's "Pictures" folder. To change the location to this new location, open the Terminal and enter the following command:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/[u]/Pictures/Screenshots/
    Replace "[u]" with the name of the user on your system. Once you have entered this command, let's restart the screen capture utility by restarting the SystemUIServer by entering the following command:
    killall SystemUIServer
    You can optionally log out and back in instead of entering this second command, thus restarting the SystemUIServer. Once restarted, all screen captures taken from here on out will end up in your /Pictures/Screenshots/ folder in the User's home folder on your Mac.

  • SaveAs Document Failed ... Deski document being saved to Favourites folder in Webi

    Post Author: amcc
    CA Forum: Administration
    I have been unable to work out what access right is needed for Webi users to be able to save a Deski document to their Favourites folder.  We have some migrated documents containing features that will not convert to Webi so have had to allow access to the Deski documents in the repository.  Anyone in the Administrators group can successfully save the Deski documents but other users cannot and get the message:
    SaveAs Document Failed (80043761)
    The same group of users can view and refresh the document without any problem.  They can also use 'Save to my computer as' without any problem.
    For an example group of users they have:
    1. View on Demand set on the universe2. View on Demand set on the universe connection3. View on Demand set on the folder containing the document4. Log on to Desktop Intelligence and view this object in the CMC set for the Desktop Intelligence application5. Save Desktop Intelligence Documents set for the Desktop Intelligence application6. Full Control of their Favourites folder.
    I've even tried changing the View on Demand settings to Full Control but it made no difference.
    What have I missed?

    Hi all,
    Even I have faced this problem,but the scenario is little different here.
    I have a deski publication report , which run sucessfully evry day but once in a while fails giving this error.
    SaveDocumentAs failed (80042908)
    When we run this report again it run fine.
    I am really wondered why this is happpening.
    Any suggestions on this. Thanks in advance.

    That's because nobody has posted an answer. You can find the discussion at how do I save a document with different page orientations to one pdf? I think this is pretty much what happens on Mac, but you can combine the separate PDFs to one.

  • How to make save dialog open up folder where document originates as default

    Hello
    I was wondering if there is a way to make save dialog open up the folder where document originates as default. I feel Like I am wasting a lot of unnecessary time navigating through menus saving certain documents.
    Example : I open an Excel document in a folder called 2009. I make some changes and then do a "save as" -- I want it to automatically bring me first to the folder where I opened it, not the last place where I saved to.
    I recall being able to set this preference in macs a looong time ago. Now I can't seem to find it. Thank for your help

    Rick,
    Sorry about the misgiving adresses, folders and access rights. My question is not about these three (they were just here to tell the story). You're perfectly right to say that in a local network, there's not need to complete the full IP or ".com" name of the PCs (even if it works all the same).
    When I said "of course" for the perms, it was just to mean, in the same way, that it's not this kind of problems here.
    My question is much more a human/mac graphic interface problem than a network problem. I want the people (as well as myself) to be able to go in a folder on the pc network with a simple click on an smb link in an email message (as they do now on an ftp or afp link).
    Thanks for the bother,

  • Word 2004 - Managed Mac OS X 10.4 Client and OD - can't save documents.

    Hi there,
    we've got a really silly problem here using Office 2004 for Mac OS X.
    But first some infos about our environment:
    10.4.11 clients
    10.5.6 server
    The clients are managed
    We use an Open Directory to provide network login (about 1000 users)
    Now the problem:
    All users in the (OD) group "teachers" (the user folders of these users are located in /Users/teachers/username) cannot save to existing Word-documents! They get the following message:
    "can not save while the file is in use by another process"
    OD users which are located in other groups don't have this problem and of course local users don't have it, too
    What I've done before writing this thread:
    Deleted /Documents/Microsoft user folder
    tested chmod -R 777 for /Applications/Microsoft Office 2004
    tested chmod -R 777 for ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
    Nothing helped.
    Our workaround now is to save every changed file to a new filename but that can't be a longtime solution. Therefore we need your help!!!
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    When the problem occurs, try opening Terminal and typing...
    lsof <filepath>
    Or drag the file to the Terminl afer the lsof [SPACE], to see what s using it.

  • How do I set a different folder than the Windows MyDocuments/Downloads folder? I do not use 'My Documents' at all, all my saved files go to other hard drives for storage, and I do not want to bother with the My Docs route. I used to have downloads set to

    I want to set a different folder from the My Documents/Downloads folder for Firefox to put everything I download, like I used to have it. I recently rebuilt my computer and reinstalled everything from WinXP to security software to Firefox, and I cannot find any options anywhere to set a different folder like I used to have it... with the same software, other than it being a newer iteration of Ff. So tell me, am I losing my mind so bad that I just can't remember how I did it before, or have things changed so much that what I want is no longer possible? Please, someone tell me how to set it to do what I want, I can't stand to have what I do on my computer dictated by programmers who only think that they know what people want. If that sounds a little angry, I apologize with the disclaimer that I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and therefore cannot handle frustration... and this kind of thing frustrates me to the point of rage.

    Set your preferences there.

  • When saving downloads is there a way to instruct Firefox to save the download to a different folder other than the default?

    I downloaded a printer driver to Firefox's default downloads. I started the exe file and a window opened so I could install the driver. I selected run, and the window closed and nothing happened. I finally had to use MS IE in order to save the file to a different folder. I was then able to decompress the file and install it. Is there an option in Firefox to override the default downloads folder with a folder of my choosing? Running Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit, FF 5.0.1.

    This is the same issue that has plagued me for years. I always thought that this was a Flash plugin issue, but it does occur on HTML5 as well. A friend of mine verified that this does not occur in Linux, but only on Windows. It would be great to have this fixed, as it's honestly the only thing that's making me use Chrome all the time, as I don't want to have multiple browsers open.
