CS4 Master Collection install problem..

I'm trying to install CS4 Master Collection but then it gives an error and says..
CS4 Master Collection can only be installed with xp service pack 3 or vista service pack 1.
i do have vista service pack 2 but CS4 Master Collection came out after service pack 2..
how come it doesn't work? Does someone has a solution for this problem?
thx in advance

There is no Vista SP2 except in beta form which you certainly shouldn't
have installed on a production machine.
But I find the XP SP3 message odd since the requirement is SP2, though
SP3 is recommended. SP2 shouldn't stop the install.

  • Problem with CS4 Master Collection Install

Have tried repeatedly to install CS4 Master Collection on an HP laptop running Microsoft Vista to no avail. I have uninstalled all previous attempts to install, run cleaner, deleted temp file stuff, rebooted ad nauseum etc. Originally, I was receiving a 1603 error code for all major programs: Photoshop, AI, etc. Now, I get a set up error: "set up has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Support." At this point, I have spent days trying to resolve this problem. Please help.

Since you mention Error 1603 you might try going thru the page linked below...

  • CS4 Master Collection Install

A little advice here. I would like to install CS4 Master Collection. I have never had any creative suites on my computer but I do have Premier Pro 2.0, Ultra 2, After Effects 6.0, Audition, Photoshop, Visual Communicator, etc. all purchased seperatly. I have all the files I want saved.
Is it best to uninstall all of these programs before I install CS4? The computer is not connected to the internet and there is no virus protection because it has always run better that way.
    Thanks for your help.

    Peter,
When I installed CS4 Design Premium with CS2 (including Acrobat 7) Premium already installed the installer said that Acrobat would be upgraded during the install process, previously (CS to CS2) it had said it would first remove Acrobat. But I assume it did actually remove 7 and install 9. The odd thing was it didnt require a reboot during the install which all previous changes involving Acrobat had.
    Art,
If you are using the suite on an offline PC you may want to try and find out how usable/good the help will be. Adobe have moved to an online help system and I think only limited help files are offered if the PC is not online.

    any solutions? plz help me...........

I get the same problem - any solution yet?
CS4 programs crash at Startup so I unistalled it plus CS4Clease and MS Clean Installer as advised in forums.
only to find the problem is still not fixed
    when installing a
Warning message at install stating cs4 minimum system requirements are not met (this did not appear the first time I installed the program)
    http://img132.imageshack.us/my.php?image=83377733oh8.jpg
where as CS4 worked for several months, before the error occured
    this is the only warning
it then installs CS4 no problem.
    after install
Photoshop and Dreamweaver run but the rest of the packages including inDesign do not - they all crash on startup - continously
I have searched the forums endlessly with no avail.
Would a vista update have stopped CS4 from recognising or identifing the OS, thus causing the program to initially crash?

  • CS4 Master Collection Install - Can't Select Flash to Install

I'm trying to install the Master Collection on my PC here at work, however when I get to the option to select the "Easy Install", or "Custom Install", Flash CS4 isn't selectable to "Check" to install. It doesn't change if I got to Easy, or Custom. Both have Flash "Grayed Out". I had the trial of Flash CS4 installed, but I uninstalled it, thinking that it was causing the issue, but it still doesn't give the option to install it.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • CS4 Master Collection installing in wrong folder

Heres my situation: I downloaded the installer, and want to put all of the programs on my second hard drive "D". "C" is where I have my windows install, but its a rather small drive. "D" is a 1TB drive, and I'd like the Adobe suite to be installed there, since it takes up quite a bit of space.
Every time I finish installing, nearly all of the programs are on my "C" drive, and not the "D" drive. I've tried:
-Telling the installer to install to a folder on the "D" drive.
    and
-Changing the default install directories in the Windows registry to folders on the "D" drive.
Neither of these worked. It installs every single program I select onto the "C" drive, except for Photoshop x64, which somehow is the only one to make it to the "D" drive.
What can I do to remedy this problem? I'm running Windows XP x64 SP2, if its of any relevance.

It's very relevant since it's unsupported. You need to be aware that
you've got a mix of 64 bit and 32 bit programs.
Try a custom install without Photoshop since that's going to install two
versions. If that works out then do another custom install and install
    Photoshop.
You should really consider moving to Vista for 64 bit computing.

  • CS4 Master Collection - Problem occurred while extracting...

After spending $1,500 and two days of RL time downloading the CS4 Master Collection twice, I am just a tad frustrated.
Each time I download the CS4 suite file and try to install it, I immediately get the error:
"A problem occurred while extracting the archive. Please try downloading the Adobe CS4 Master Collection again."
No. I refuse to spend another full day downloading this file yet again just to receive the same error.
Anyone have some insight into this problem? (more so than "turn off your anti-virus program"
    Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem. I found a forum that suggested this. Apparently it worked for some people, but not for me. Let me know if it does:
    1. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
    2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run as..."
    3. Run as Administrator (even if you are logged in as Admin. You need to run in the Black Command Prompt, not the White one)
    4. Run: regsvr32 JScript.DLL
    5. Then run: regsvr32 vbscript.DLL
(dont forget the spaces, or it won't work)
    6. Then try running the set up again
As i said, it worked for some on the forum, but not others (like me). Try it and see if works for you

  • CS4 Master Collection - Problem Applying Updates

    Hi
I'm running the CS4 Master Collection on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, SP2.
Normally I have no problem applying updates to the various Adobe components when they become available, however for a while now I've been unable to instal an update that's reported as being available for Adobe Media Encoder 4.1.0.
If I run the "check for updates" manually I can download the update (reported as being 63.7MB) and when I attempt to instal it the installation process appears to run. It finishes after a while and the Adobe Updater reports "The Udating Process is Finished" in a single dialog box with a single button entitled "Quit" - which seems odd as "Quit" implies "finish earlier than planned", I'd have expected something more in line with "All done", something like "OK".
Anyway, when I run the check for updates again I'm told about the same update implying that it wasn't applied successfully.
I get this behaviour whether I run the update as an Administrator or not (all other updates for other products are applied without problem). I also get it regardless of whether or not I reboot the machine after trying to apply the update.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing the problem ? I couldn't find anything obvious or obviously relevant in any of the Windows event logs on the PC.
    Thanks for any ideas
    Steve

  • CS4 Master Collection Won't Install

Alright...so I insert the Adobe CS4 Master Collection DVD (yes, the first disc) and the autorun comes up. I hit install and nothing happens. I see in the task manager that setup runs for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes (tried this quite a few times) and then terminates. I wanna know what's going on. I've already searched the internet for answers as well as tried everything in the Adobe KB and every related topic here on the user-to-user forums. My specs are as follows:
    AMD Athlon X2 4200+ (2.2GHz/core)
    4gb DDR2 1066 RAM
    250gb SATA HDD
    Nvidia GeForce 9800GT
    Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit

If you've gone through all of that, I can only offer one more thing to
    try before calling Adobe.
Create a new user account and install it there. If that doesn't do it
you're going to have to call Adobe for help...installation issues are
    handled free of charge.

  • CS4 master Collection won't install on XP

After paying the big bucks for this CS4 Master Collection software, I can't get it to install. I have 1.5 gig of ram, all slots full. Will it not install with that? The install won't let me install on a drive with 123 gig of free space, the install pop-up says there's not enough room please change location. I change it to another drive with 197 gig of open space and it won't install.
Customer service is closed until Monday...I'll be back in class and don't get out until 8pm every frickin weekday.
I'm working on a sony the runs 3.20 ghz with the 1.5 gig of RAM. I just reformated the harddrive but windows takes up the C: partition but the extention is 123 gig, and I have several other drives (with hundreds of gigs open) I've tried to put it on....it says they're too small.
I've tried to install the trial version and it does the same thing. I'm at my wits end with this!
If there's only one out there willing to help me I would really appreciate, because Adobe doesn't seem to give a fig about helping me.

How much free space is on the C:/drive? Without a lot of room you'll have a hard time installing any program even if you install it to a different drive. Windows needs lots of free space on C: for installing applications.
If you have little free space, then whoever set up that machine did a very poor job of it. There is no benefit at all to installing applications on a different drive than the operating system.

  • Both CS4 and CS5 Master Collections installed. Uninstall CS4?

I have both Adobe CS4 Master Collection and CS5 Master Collection installed on my mac OS X 10.6.6.
What is the proper uninstall procedure for my entire CS4 collection and do I have to take precautions so it does not interfere with my CS5 installation?

It's a company laptop and that is not an option. On my own computer, that would be my first choice.
My space is tight partly b/c of multiple virtual machines I have.  I need to free up some space, simply put.
    No other suggestion?

  • CS4 Master Collection/Windows 7 Broken Setup.exe

Yesterday I made the jump from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Beta--everything carried over nicely except for my CS4 Master Collection. Upon booting Premiere Pro up, I was informed that my "trial" had expired--a fact which I knew was not true as I own retail. I figured that uninstalling and re installing would solve my problem, but when I rebooted the setup, the installer would install about 15% of the complete package before giving me an error and closing.
After this, I read through some forums and learned that I needed to run CS4Cleanup from Adobe to reinstall the programs; I installed both the CS4Cleanup and the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (the Windows Installer Cleanup was needed for the Adobe Cleanup to work) and ran the CS4Cleanup successfully.
However...when I attempted to run the Setup.exe after the cleanup, the initial Setup gets to about 80% and then informs me that the "setup encountered an error and cannot continue" and then closes on me. Since using the WIndows and Adobe Cleanups, I am now worse off then I was before! Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions?

Hopefully you were not even thinking about using a beta release of an operating system for production work! Even Microsoft warns you about that! And even more so, you should not even attempt to do an "in place" operating system "upgrade" (something that has never worked particularly well with any Microsoft operating system).
Assuming you were just "hacking around" trying to see how well Windows 7 may work with existing applications, you should have deactivated the Adobe software running under Vista, backed up data, and totally reformatted the disk (low level format) before attempting any such experiments.
    Please understand that Adobe does
not support operation under pre-production operating systems. CS4 was released well before there were any builds of Windows 7 available to developers.
