CS4 Master Collection partial inoperability

Half of applications from CS4(acrobat, illustrator, fireworks, indesign etc.) crashes when i'm trying to run it on my pc. I have Vista 64x.

As someone will say soon enough, make sure you have Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate, NOT Vista Home Basic.
Also, what is your PC setup (RAM, disk space, CPU, etc)?
How was Windows installed? From fresh or as an upgrade on top of an existing installation?
Have you tried biting the bullet and reinstalling Windows and CS4 again?

  • Installation problem on CS4 Master Collection

WHen I attempt to install CS4 master collection on Vista Ultimate X64
While the installer is "checking system profile" the next window shows "Loading Setup"
I then get a System Check error page. The window label is "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection Installer - Alerts"
In the box it says, System Check.
Critical Errors were found in setup for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection.
Session has dependencies that cannot be satisfied.
please see the Setup log file for details. click Quit to exit Setup."
Then there is a Quit button, that is the only option.
Any ideas which services need to be enabled to be able to install creative suite?

I do have service pack 1 for vista ultimate x64.
Here is the end of the log....

installing cs4 there are updates but i can't load them automatically. I did
a delete and reinstall, but still get the message.

  • CS4 Master Collection: Opinion and Question

So I got the entire kit and kaboodle: CS4 Master Collection.
I want to like it, some of the features and interface is a nice improvement.
However, it renders my upper end system into a dog.  Nothing brings your system to a halt like saving a CS4 Illustrator or Adobe file.  And these arent even terribly large files.  Overall, and application work in CS4 products Ive sued to date seems slow.
And Im on a Pentum dual core 3.0 gz with 6 GB RAM.  Are there any known tips and tweaks to improve performance and speed.  The saves in Illustrator and Photoshop are painful - nothing else on the PC can be done until the save is complete.  Never had this issue with CS3.
CS4 might be coming off if I cant get it to perform better.  Trying it on a Quad core next week to see if its really system related.  But then again, CS3 was fast on this system.

All I can tell you is that CS4 is pretty snappy on Vista Ultimate 64 with 8 gigs or RAM and a Q6600 processor. You really haven't given us anything as far as your system but I will advise you that you will get far more attention for individal application problems in those forums.
You mentioned Illustrator so I would suggest posting there WITH FULL SYSTEM SPECS.

  • CS4 Master Collection PN 65023349 and 65023345

According to google, this has been discussed here before, but my forum searches come up empty.  I am trying to understand the difference between CS4 Master Collection part numbers 65023349 and 65023345 .  Except for the stickers on the bottom, the packages are identical.  And even those stickers are quite similar, except for the part and UPC numbers and a line that reads "001 DV" on one box and "001 DV RET" on the other.
If someone can explain the difference, I'd appreciate it very much.
    Many thanks,
    Rich

There is no option to upgrade your CS4 license except to subscribe to the Creative Cloud's special first year discount plan for CS owners (Adobe: Creative, marketing, and document management solutions).
Platform swaps are only allowed for the most recent released CS software (CS6).  You cannot get a Mac version license of CS4 thru Adobe since Adobe does not sell older versions and the only CS version for sale is CS6...  CS4 does not qualify to get CS6 at an upgrade price.
You can purchase CS6 thru the following page: http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.htm

  • CS4 Master Collection Won't Install

Alright...so I insert the Adobe CS4 Master Collection DVD (yes, the first disc) and the autorun comes up. I hit install and nothing happens. I see in the task manager that setup runs for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes (tried this quite a few times) and then terminates. I wanna know what's going on. I've already searched the internet for answers as well as tried everything in the Adobe KB and every related topic here on the user-to-user forums. My specs are as follows:
    AMD Athlon X2 4200+ (2.2GHz/core)
    4gb DDR2 1066 RAM
    250gb SATA HDD
    Nvidia GeForce 9800GT
    Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit

If you've gone through all of that, I can only offer one more thing to
    try before calling Adobe.
Create a new user account and install it there. If that doesn't do it
you're going to have to call Adobe for help...installation issues are
    handled free of charge.

  • CS4 Master Collection won't accept product Code. Why?

I'm trying to install my CS4 Master Collection so that I can upgrade to CS5 but my product code won't allow me to continue. I only have it installed on one other computer. It doesn't provide an explanation, it only shows a red "X" after the code that I enter. Should there be an explanation? Thanks.

you need to use your cs4 mc serial number, Find your serial number quickly
and you don't need to install cs4 to install a cs5 upgrade.  you can start with your cs5 install and you will be prompted for your cs4 serial number, after entering your cs5 upgrade serial number.

  • CS4 Master Collection Install

A little advice here. I would like to install CS4 Master Collection. I have never had any creative suites on my computer but I do have Premier Pro 2.0, Ultra 2, After Effects 6.0, Audition, Photoshop, Visual Communicator, etc. all purchased seperatly. I have all the files I want saved.
Is it best to uninstall all of these programs before I install CS4? The computer is not connected to the internet and there is no virus protection because it has always run better that way.
    Thanks for your help.
    Art

    Peter,
When I installed CS4 Design Premium with CS2 (including Acrobat 7) Premium already installed the installer said that Acrobat would be upgraded during the install process, previously (CS to CS2) it had said it would first remove Acrobat. But I assume it did actually remove 7 and install 9. The odd thing was it didnt require a reboot during the install which all previous changes involving Acrobat had.
    Art,
If you are using the suite on an offline PC you may want to try and find out how usable/good the help will be. Adobe have moved to an online help system and I think only limited help files are offered if the PC is not online.

  • CS4 Master Collection - double trouble

I bought the CS4 Master Collection in 2009, I then installed it on my work station. Some months later I bought a laptop and then installed the sofware on that as well. After a while I was forced to re-format my work station that had the first innstallation on it, I then of course re-innstalled the Master Collectionon it. When I now try to open any Adobe application on the laptop I get stopped by a message saying I´have used the maximum amount of registrations (2) for this software. Well, I have NOT used more than two registrations so this is obvioulsy wrong. The other stationary machine is stored at a seperate location cause I am moving abroad, so now I can´t get to that either. What to do? This Adobe registration error is driving me mad! I payed big buck for the Master Collection and beacause of some technical error I can´t use it. Adobe has no number to call and the support is as we all know ZERO.
I am very tempted to download cracked software cause of this.

For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/v6wfLL.  Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issues you describe.

  • CS4 Master Collection/Windows 7 Broken Setup.exe

Yesterday I made the jump from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Beta--everything carried over nicely except for my CS4 Master Collection. Upon booting Premiere Pro up, I was informed that my "trial" had expired--a fact which I knew was not true as I own retail. I figured that uninstalling and re installing would solve my problem, but when I rebooted the setup, the installer would install about 15% of the complete package before giving me an error and closing.
After this, I read through some forums and learned that I needed to run CS4Cleanup from Adobe to reinstall the programs; I installed both the CS4Cleanup and the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (the Windows Installer Cleanup was needed for the Adobe Cleanup to work) and ran the CS4Cleanup successfully.
However...when I attempted to run the Setup.exe after the cleanup, the initial Setup gets to about 80% and then informs me that the "setup encountered an error and cannot continue" and then closes on me. Since using the WIndows and Adobe Cleanups, I am now worse off then I was before! Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions?

Hopefully you were not even thinking about using a beta release of an operating system for production work! Even Microsoft warns you about that! And even more so, you should not even attempt to do an "in place" operating system "upgrade" (something that has never worked particularly well with any Microsoft operating system).
Assuming you were just "hacking around" trying to see how well Windows 7 may work with existing applications, you should have deactivated the Adobe software running under Vista, backed up data, and totally reformatted the disk (low level format) before attempting any such experiments.
    Please understand that Adobe does
not support operation under pre-production operating systems. CS4 was released well before there were any builds of Windows 7 available to developers.

  • CS4 Master Collection wont fully uninstall

I have been running CS4 Master Collection on Windows Vista for some time, upgraded to Windows 7, had a few installing issues with putting CS4 MC back on my PC. Decided to start from scratch so uninstalled it, using Add/Remove AND the CS4 Cleanup Script, and a rgeistry cleaner.
Problem now is when I go to reinstall it, it still thinks some of the products are still installed. The boxes are greyed out next to After Effects, Premiere etc so it won't reinstall them!
Any suggestions on how I can can COMPLETELY remove CS4 Master Collection, totally, so that I can reinstall it again? It's obviously leaving a trace somewhere, even after running the cleanup script. (I can confrim I have manually deleted the CS4 folder form Program Files too which the cleanup script does not seem to getting rid of!)
I am running on 32 Bit Windows 7 system.
    Thanks
    Ricardo Lacombe

I would make sure that you de-activated the program. Wipe the drive clean and then install Windows 7. There are too many issues with doing an in-place major upgrade of a Windows OS.

  • CS4 Master Collection Activation issue

I have installed CS4 master collection on my 2 PC's.
The first of these was a new build PC using Vista Ultimate 64bit, I installed Vista and CS4 on a RAID 0 array comprising 3 Sata drives. CS4 was then activated on this machine as well as my other machine.
After a couple of days the RAID array started showing errors, which I believe was down to the poor nVidia drivers / onboard controller.
Anyway I reinstalled Vista & CS4 onto a single drive, when it came to activating CS4 however I get a message saying the serial no. has already been activated on 2 machines.
Now Adobes FAQ states that CS4 will recognise a reinstall on the same machine, however I think that because I have gone from a RAID array to a single drive then CS4 will not be able to detect this as the data will have been spread over the 3 physical drives.
I have contacted Adobe support and am waiting on a response, in the meantime is there something simple I have missed?

The RAID problem was with CS2.
The OP's issue is that he didn't deactivate before reinstalling. Only
Adobe can help and there should be a phone number to call for activation
assistance on the activation denial screen.

  • CS4 Master Collection

When trying to install CS4 Master Collection on Vista Ultimate the installation proceeds for 243Mb and then I get the error message "Installation of the following components has failed - Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 bit).
I have copied the 4 discs to hard drive but still get the same problem.
Have also run CS4 Clean Script.
Just before installation fails the some desktop icons disappear briefly.
The installation always fails at the same point - during installing 'Adobe Media Encoder CS4'
Has anyone had a similar experience?

After trying many things unsuccessfully I concluded that if I carried on looking for a fix I would waste several more days.
My system is only six months old and no other program has failed to install, howevwer, I decided to bite the bullet and do a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 with SP1.
Prior to installing CS4 the only thing I disabled was Windows firewall.  Not being technical I don't know if it served any purpose but I thought it might improve the probabilities.
I loaded CS4 before any other software.  I used the four dvds, and whilst they took a long time, they loaded without error.
I have not tested other than opening and closing a couple of packages which seem ok.
    Fingers crossed!!

  • CS4 master Collection won't install on XP

After paying the big bucks for this CS4 Master Collection software, I can't get it to install. I have 1.5 gig of ram, all slots full. Will it not install with that? The install won't let me install on a drive with 123 gig of free space, the install pop-up says there's not enough room please change location. I change it to another drive with 197 gig of open space and it won't install.
Customer service is closed until Monday...I'll be back in class and don't get out until 8pm every frickin weekday.
I'm working on a sony the runs 3.20 ghz with the 1.5 gig of RAM. I just reformated the harddrive but windows takes up the C: partition but the extention is 123 gig, and I have several other drives (with hundreds of gigs open) I've tried to put it on....it says they're too small.
I've tried to install the trial version and it does the same thing. I'm at my wits end with this!
If there's only one out there willing to help me I would really appreciate, because Adobe doesn't seem to give a fig about helping me.

How much free space is on the C:/drive? Without a lot of room you'll have a hard time installing any program even if you install it to a different drive. Windows needs lots of free space on C: for installing applications.
If you have little free space, then whoever set up that machine did a very poor job of it. There is no benefit at all to installing applications on a different drive than the operating system.

  • Installation of CS4 Master Collection Query

    Hello
I intend to buy CS4 Master Collection to use on my home laptop for media work.
The license agreement for Create Suite software states that users can install and use one copy of the software up to the permitted number of compatible computers as long as the user presents a valid serial number for each copy.
The agreement also states that the primary user of the software can install the software at a work computer and a secondary home computer or portable computer, provided that the software on the home or portable computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary computer.
My question is  -  does this agreement enable me to install the CS4 Master Collection on my current laptop and any future laptop purchases should I be required to replace or upgrade my portable computer?
    Thanks in advance
    Alastair

The spirit of the agreement is that you are the only user of the two concurrently activated computers and that you will only use one machine at a time. As for a future computer, there's a deactivation feature that allows you to move the activation to a new machine.
