CS4, no audio, continuous conforming

I'm having audio problems with two MP4 files. The files seem fine when I first import and play them, but if I watch the conforming bar in the corner, as soon as it reaches its end, it encounters an unspecified error and the audio in the file stops working. Premiere will then attempt to conform the file again and again.
When I play the files using Windows Media Player, they work fine.
I thought maybe I could work around this by exporting just the audio from these files, but If I try to export any media from a project that contains either of these files, I get the error:
PProHeadless has encountered an error.
[..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-754]
If I create a new project, I still encounter the same two problems.
Here's the first thing I don't understand: I captured many MP4 videos at the same time using the same settings, but only these two files have this audio/conforming issue. Why would one file have an error but another one be fine?
I've found other threads by people with the same encoding issue, but I'm really not familar with video and audio files, so I don't understand the suggestions that have been made so far or how to apply them in my situation. I'm worried that those two files are just unusable. I can provide more information about the files or my computer, but I'm not sure what information is needed.

Some general reading, and a way to find out more information about what is inside the files... plus, files DO sometimes become corrupted during the process of filming or copying from camera to computer

  • Why does Premiere Elements 11 continually "conform" my audio?

I have a Hauppauge TV tuner in my computer that allows me to record TV shows off air.  I have not had a problem with creating projects using shows recorded from cable, but when I attempt to use a show recorded from an antenna, the video clips in continuous "conforming audio" mode.  The Hauppauge software writes the output file as a .ts file.  Gspot gives no information on the audio codec used.  However, the software includes an mpeg transcoder.  Gspot reports a six-channel AC3 audio track.  When I add either the .ts or .mpg file to the project, audio plays just fine, although the "conforming" progress bar is displayed as soon as I attempt to playback the clip.  Playback is normal until I stop playback and restart, then no audio.  I can still see the audio tracks with varying amplitude, just no sound.  After the progress bar hits 100% and disappears, I can play the clip with audio, but as soon as I do, the "conforming audio" progress bar reappears and the same thing happens all over again.  I have confirmed that the cache folder is updated.  When I retry the import, I delete the cache files before importing the clip.  The same behavior occurs if I rename the .ts file with .mts or .m2ts.  I don't understand the conforming thing, because everything I've read on it says it is only done once.  This only happens on recordings with the antenna as the signal source.  Can anyone explain what is happening, or steps I can use to troubleshoot the problem?
    TIA

    ATR,
Yes, that would explain why the Conforming happens again, but this line troubled me:
I can play the clip with audio, but as soon as I do, the "conforming audio" progress bar reappears and the same thing happens all over again.
If that is AFTER the CFA (and possibly the PEK) files HAVE been Deleted, then they WILL be recreated.
Now, some have experienced a Conforming "loop," but that is most often due to the Media Cache not being available, say with a Mapped Network Drive, or perhaps an external, which is assigned a new drive letter (remember, the link to the CFA & PEK files is an absolute Path).
With the answers to the various, above questions, and especially the timing of the Deletion of the CFA files, and the re-Conforming operation, we shall know.

  • Sound is out of sync in iMovie and video freezes at a part but audio continues. How do i fix this???

Can someone please help me. I have even tried the youtube videos and can't seem to get the sound to sync up on my videos in Imovie. Also, one part just stalls and stays on the same frame but the audio continues on fine.
I NEED HELP!!! This is for school and I can't hand this in all wacked out

44100 Hz is fine and the audio codec is fine. Most camcorders record at 48000 Hz, but audio CDs are recorded are 44100 Hz, and iMovie handles them well.
However, your video frame rate is an odd number. A camcorder in the US will usually record at 29.97 frames per second. In Europe, the standard is 25 fps. On some cameras, you also have the option of 24 fps (same as a Hollywood movie).
Your camera is recording at 14.89, which is about half of the 29.97 standard. I am guessing that the video is from a webcam or maybe a cell phone or still camera.  It is difficult to sync audio over long periods of time if your video is not conforming to the standards. Cameras like this may record at varioable rates, so sometimes you get more than 14.89 and sometimes less. Your best bet would be to make an iMovie project at 29.97 fps, so that it will basically repeat each frame of your video twice to get up to 29.78 fps. Even so, it will drift out of sync over time.
If you had Final Cut Pro X, you could use the tools in FCP to conform your video and audio to a 29.97 timeline and probably keep it synced better. Long term, your best bet is to use a camcorder that can shoot 29.97 (or 30) fps.
Short term, I would suggest keeping your clips in your project short. For your 15 minute clip, drag in the first minute, then the 2nd minute, etc. untill you have it all. Even so, it may drift. Detaching audio is probably not necessary.

  • Audio not conforming

    Hello,
I am having a problem with getting some files to conform in CS6. I am running CS6 on Vista. I opened several PPCS5.5 project files and they successfully converted to CS6 without any issues. However when asked to relink the media, when I do so the audio doesn't conform. The files I am trying to conform are AVI files that were shot standard dv ntsc. some have conformed and are playing fine, others will not conform. For the ones that do not conform this is what's happening.
After I relink the file in the bottom right of PR where you se the yellow status bar, it will say conforming but the status bar will not start. Also the video will be black in the program monitor. After approx 2-5 minutes the status bar will suddenly jump about half way through for a few seconds then disappear as if done. The video then becomes viewable and plays normally however there is no audio. No audio, no peaks, etc. There is a track but it's like PR can't conform the audio or something. Really Confused.
    Codec issue?
    Will sit here doing nothing...
    Then will jump.
Then no audio, peaks or anything.

    Hunt,
I did a little more experimenting yesterday and I am scratching my head.
I have 3 PC's, 1 is a Desktop (custom build...the one I was having the restart issues you guys helped me with last year) with Vista/CS6.
Another is an older laptop (HP) with Vista/CS4 and the last one is a one year old laptop (HP) with Win7/CS6.
The PC I was using when I started the thread was the Desktop Vista/CS6 as that is my main workstation. I copied the clip in question to my laptop Vista/CS4 and it imported, conformed, generated the audio waveform and played back the audio with no issues. (I forgot to mention that when I had CS5.5 installed on the Desktop Vista PC before reinstalling the OS and installing CS6 that it also played fine there as well).
I then copied the clip to my Win7/CS6 PC and I received an error in the Events panel. "File Importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of Sylvia 01.avi. Reading and writing the files Metadata (XMP) has been disabled."
On the Vista/CS4 PC the clip info reads as such in the project panel.
    Sylvia 01.avi
    Movie, 720 x 480 (0.9091)
    the duration, 29.97 fps
    48000 Hz  - 16 bit - Stereo
I then copied the same clip to the Win7/CS6 PC:
    Sylvia 01.avi
    Movie, 720 x 480 (0.9091)
    the duration, 29.97 fps
    32000 Hz  - 16 bit - Stereo
Note the two different reading in the sample rate.
It seems as if the CS6 versions can't read the clip correctly? I don't know if there truly is an issue with the file or if it's a codec issue or something. It's weird because the Vista/CS4 PC will play it fine as well as the Windows Media player on all 3 PC's will play it fine.
    Thank you for any assistance.

  • I have a new Macbook Pro.  When watching Youtube videos, it works perfectly until I attempt to watch the video in full screen.  When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues.  When minimized it works fine as before. Help?

I have a brand new Macbook model A1502.  I am taking online college classes that incorporate youtube tutorial videos.  I can watch the videos if I don't maximize the screen to full screen.  When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues uninterrupted.  I can press escape and go back to the previous screen and the video continues to play with no problems.  Can anyone help me please?  This machine is literally just out of the box with maybe an hour of use.  Thanks in advance

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • How can I code to play audio continuously from page to page in iBooks for reflow ePub

    Hi,
I have tried and successfully completed the iBooks ambient soundtrack option in Fixed Layout ePub. It works fine.
But while trying the same in Reflow ePub, it is not working in iPad iBooks. I have latest iBooks version and latest iOS version in my iPad.
Please let me know how can I code to play audio continuously from page to page in iBooks for reflow ePub?
    Thanks,
    Sundaram

As soon as the user turns to the next page, the audio stops.
That's how it works in all cases.
the book is a read aloud book.
See the 'How-To Read Aloud' section in iBA Tips and Tricks 01

  • Is there a way to make the audio continue when the page is turned?

Can I make the audio continue while a reader turns pages in iBook? With everything I've tried the music shuts off as soon as the page is turned. Thanks for any insight.
    a1foster

Latest: Working in Pages actually seems to work for this! Place the audio file in Pages (drag and drop works just fine), make sure the audio is inline (not floating) export Pages to ePub and run the Book Proofer . . .  once you click to start the audio, the audio plays until the end, regardless of where you are in the book, it keeps playing. Minor victory because you loose a bit of the layout features that iBook Author has, but the audio now functions the way I was hoping.

  • How can I have html5 audio continue to play in background in iOS7 from my flex mobile app

I have mobile app I've developed in flash builder 4.6 (flex 4.12 sdk) and I have a stagewebview component which contains HTML5 audio (mp3 retrieved from my web server and streamed / played via the app)... I want to have the ios version of the app CONTINUE to play the mp3 / html5 audio when the user presses the home button on their iphone or opens another app... so that when multitasking, my audio continues to play (where theres no other NEW audio started, for instance).
I have added the following to my manifest but it still doesnt do what Im after. I used this in another mobile app where I just play audio from the url directly in flash builder (i.e. NOT via webview component) -- but here it seems the webview suspends (Im guessing)...

You can import audio files into Logic (as easy as drag and drop).  You can download these loops from the Internet from a variety of sources both free and paid.  Just do a Google search for those.
Once you've imported the file into Logic Pro, right click on the audio region and scroll down to the "Convert" option about halfway down the menu.  The top option will be "Add to Apple Loops library" - click this, and it'll add the file into your Apple loops.
It won't affect the other loops in the library.

  • Video freezes for a few seconds multiple times but audio continues ok

Flash freezes for a second or three; audio continues ok.
Happens usually a few seconds in, every 8 seconds or so for maybe 3 times and
intermittent after that (sometimes runs fine the rest of the way). Have Vista64
IE9 - Chrome and FF doesn't freeze only IE. Disabled hardware acceleration (to
software). Nvidia 440 drivers up to date. Flash up to date: Object
    13.0.0.214  ActiveX control: 12.0.9.149
(shouldn't that be same as object?). Not a buffer problem as it loads up
usually at a good clip ahead of playing video. Local storage buffer set at 10MB
(tried higher and lower settings no joy). Would having 4 HD audio drivers
installed have anything to do with this problem? (noticed in device manager). Previous
versions back a few months were doing this too so decided to go on this forum. Thanks.
    Hope I didn't miss anything.

OK as of today (June 27, 2014) I've had 93 views with no response. I did find a very long thread pertaining to this subject (Flash player stutters for 1 second then continues normally) so I'll tack on to end of that thread with the hopes that something can be done with this annoying stuttering. I want to post my DX Diag text but first update above: It's IE version 9. When video freezes it appears to "catch up" with audio running with no hitch (the whole thing takes a second or two and might happen a few times in a minute video - it ALWAYS happens with a second or two in the beginning though). I even reinstalled IE9 going all the way back to IE7 to make sure I got "fresh" files installed as possible - still same problem after that. With that said below is my DX Diag text. If someone (especially an Adobe person) has any suggestions of where else I can post to get someone talking to me I would appreciate it.

  • After burning to dvd, using idvd, movie stops on frame but audio continues

After creating imovie which works perfectly, and also after trasferring to idvd works perfectly, i have problems when playing back dvd after burning to disc. The movie stops but the audio continues. I altered the clip but same thing happened in next clip after next burn. I don't think its a corrupt clip, but maybe something to do with WHEN it occurs in the movie. Any suggestions? After 4 goes and many hours burning I am stumped!

    Hi Tomma1
And welcome to apple discussions. It's good you chose to use 16 bit audio for all of your source material. And assuming this is accurate info .... From what I can tell, you are doing nearly everything correctly. However let me ask you a few questions.
    1. Are you using the boot volume (the hard drive where iDvd and Leopard are actually located) to encode your dvd (yes/no)?
    2. More importantly, does the disc image also go out of sync when played thru apple's dvd player app? or does it only happen on the burned dvd-r?
    3. Are you using Verbatim Dvd-R or an alternate brand? if it's the latter, then for troubleshooting purposes while on this forum; please use Verbatim Dvd-R. (it helps us eliminate additional / possible variables). Thereafter feel free to use the media that works best for you and your mac.
    4. Have you tried an alternate encoding setting other than pro quality setting? and do you get the same results?

  • Workaround for 7.1.6 video freeze (audio continues)

Recognizing that solutions can sometimes be difficult to search for, I'm posting this because it has helped at least a few -- particularly those with G4 iMacs.
    If your symptoms are
o Updated QT Pro from 7.1.5 to 7.1.6
o Video files play normally up to a point, then the image freezes while audio continues
o Happens with any file format -- mov, mp4, dv, avi, etc.
    then your workaround might be
    o Quit QuickTime Player
o Manually put the system to sleep (apple menu in upper left of menu bar) for ~10 seconds
o Now try playing the files
If this solution works for you, keep in mind that you'll need to do it once again anytime you restart/reboot.
Why does this work? Not sure -- maybe something to do with how QT interacts with video settings stored in PRAM. That would account for why certain machines are affected while others are not. PRAM settings are not identical in every model.
    Good luck -sailhome

I figured out a way to reinstall QuickTime 7.1.5.
    1. Download Quicktime 7.1.5 installer:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime715formac.html
    2. Mount the installer package. This is very important.
    3. Download and install Pacifist from this location:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    4. Run Pacifist. In its dialog press the "Open Package" button. Browse for the .PKG file in the mounted package. In the appearing list Right Click on the .PKG and from the context menu choose "Install To Default Location". Please note that if you mistakenly select the unmounted .DMG file into Pacifist instead of the PKG, there will be an installation but without an effect.
    5. Check in the "User Administrator Privileges" checkbox. Press Install.
    6. When asked tell the installer to replace the already existing files. Do this with all the files.
    7. When the install process is finished restart the computer.
    8. Run the QuickTime 7.1.5 installer package again WITHOUT Pacifist and let it install the files again.
    9. Restart the computer

  • How can i hold a spot in a clip, let the audio continue for a moment and then resume the clip and audio together?

how can i hold a spot in a clip, let the audio continue for a moment and then resume the clip and audio together?

you want to use the retiming tool. you can select what you want to hold, then use the "Hold" command (shift-H) to create a single frame of a default duration, which you can then change to whatever length you want by dragging the retiming handle.
Here's the page in the help manual that describes the hold feature in detail:

  • MOV exported from Keynote - last slide disappears, audio continues playing

I have a series of three mov files that were created in & exported from Keynote. They are audio & slide shows that are to autoplay on a website. Two of the files function as expected once embedded in the website, one does not; the last slide drops out (displaying a white screen) while the audio continues for approximately 30 seconds until the mov file ends. To add confusion to the issue ALL the files play as expected using Safari (on Win & Mac). Using Firefox on Mac delivers the "broken" results. Using ANY browser on Windows yields the broken result.
Any suggestions from anyone as to what could be causing this? A link to the website I'm talking about is below. The problem file is on index2.html

    Hi,
Since I am trying to do a number of things with Keynote, I read these discussions looking for opportunities and pitfalls.
I read your message, and saw your outcome as an issue. Since I've yet to add the soundtrack to my current project, I needed to know more about the outcome before I proceeded, in order to adjust accordingly.
I took my project, and added a song as the soundtrack. I played the slideshow, and the soundtrack played along, across the slides as it should. I then began to record the slideshow, but the soundtrack came playing through the speakers and was being picked up by the microphones, so I offed the speakers, donned my headphones, and re-began the recording. The soundtrack was playing (in the headphones), and I was narrating across many slides.
I played the recorded slideshow, and all was present - soundtrack and recorded narration.
I exported to Quicktime, sending the output to a new folder so that it could easily be found, along with anything else that might be generated. Upon completion, there was only one movie file in the folder. I opened and played it in Quicktime. It was perfect - slides looked good, narration was there, and the soundtrack was playing in the background.
This outcome appears to be your objective, so I'm not sure what I did differently than you, but from this experience, it works as should be expected.
    Good luck.

  • When viewing full screen video in netflix watch instantly, the picture freezes while the audio continues streaming

When watching full screen video in firefox the picture freezes and the audio continues streaming. I had at first thought this was limited to netflix but now see the same problem when viewing flash video sites. Once the picture freezes the computer has to be rebooted. This only happens in firefox. Explorer streams perfectly in fullscreen. The problem began after updating to firefox 3.6 as I had no problems prior to that.

For some reason the plugin container is causing some wierd stuff. I didn't know you could have more than one instance of task manager open. while this bug occurred, I had 15 task managers open. So somehow this plugin container is doing soemthing funky with the windows system. I'm the same poster as the last 2 post
    Hope this helps the troubleshooting.

  • IMovie Full Quality Export Video Stops As Audio Continues. PLEASE HELP

Im making a video of my camping trip, and I tried to export it using the Expert Settings. When I watched it, it stopped about 1.5 minutes in. The video freezes but the audio continues. I really need this video up soon! If you've experienced this and know how to fix it, please help! I used a Canon SD1000 to record, I have a macbook core duo with 1 GB memory, 60 Gig Hard Drive, and iMovie HD 6.0.3.
    Thanks a bunch!

    Hi OK
    Then there is sufficient space
And no external hard disk that interferes.
Then I would try to delete the iMovie pref file
    iMovie
    -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist
    and
    -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie3.plist
and see if a new export will work
(to make this easy one might just start a new account (log-in) and use this and re-try)
    - other thoughts:
    • versions: Mac OS X.4.9 and iMovie 6.0.3 AND QT ????? 7.1.6 ?
    • Running (Apple Disk Util tool): Repair permissions and Repair hard disk
might help (second one needs start from CD/DVD or external hard disk)
