CS4 - No title bar in Windows 7 64 bit

A couple of weeks ago I installed CS4 64 bit in the 64-bit beta of Windows 7. All I did was open it, look at it, do a bit of minimal adjustment to the Prefs, open a couple of photos and pretend to edit them.
I opened it 2 days ago, and it was still fine. It Photoshop had a standard Windows 7 Aero title bar.
Today it has no title bar, just a bit of space above the menu line. Bridge still has a title bar, however.
I've trashed my prefs; no good. Trashed them, rebooted. No good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've got egg on my face. The reason I don't have a title bar is (quoting from a CS4 review), 'There’s no longer a title bar to consume extra screen real estate unnecessarily.' !
I must have been running it maximized before yesterday, and didn't notice the 'no title bar' phenomenon.
After reading Steve's post, I googled harder and found the answer.
Sorry for taking up bandwidth. (On the other hand, if I hadn't seen that Steve, using Vista not 7, had the same, er, feature, I might have gone through a horrid cycle of reinstalling etc.; so posting did help me!)

  • How to see if title bar of Window is selected

In my Java program I have various Window types, such as JFrame and JDialog. How can I recognize if the title bar of the window has been selected?
(Java must recognize when it is selected, because this selection allows you to move the window.)
    Please help! Thanks!

  • Bitmap image not showing up on windows title bar in windows server 2012 std

I have an application written in VC++ (MFC). Its a legacy app. Recently we were asked to check its compatibility with windows server 2012 std edition. We found some issues and one of those is as follows:
    1) We display a BITMAP image using Windows.StretchBlt() function on the titlebar of the app. It shows up properly in windows server 2003, win XP and win 7. But doesn't show up in windows server 2012. I am assuming its a windows paint issue because button
is there on titlebar as I can click on it and see the expected behavior. But its just not visible.
    Here is some technical workflow:
-> This function get called to paint the framwnd-
            CMainFrame::OnNcPaint()
                 CMDIFrameWnd::OnNcPaint();
// here we have code to paint the bitmap
Could anyone here please tell me why the same code is behaving differently in win server 2012? Also if there is any solution for this.

  • Movement of mouse hides window behind title bar at the top of the display

My roommate's daughter was visiting and changed a bunch of settings. I got everything restored except one - at times when I move my mouse (usually in the direction of the title bar), the window "auto hides" behind the title bar. A small border at the bottom of the hidden window remains visible just below the title/tool bar, which, when I click on it, returns it to the screen.
This seems like it might be a good feature to use, IF I only knew what causes it to do this only when I want it to. Can this be turned off if I don't want to use it?
    Help & Thanks!

  • Unicode String in JFrame's Title Bar / why is java a non-Unicode pgm in XP?

    My big question:
Why is Java detected as a non-Unicode program by Windows XP?
I need to do the following before I can write Japanese characters on the JFrame's title bar on Window XP:
From the Control Panel -> Regional Settings and Languages -> Set the Language for non-Unicode Program to Japanese
    Thanks in advance,
    Noel

    Hi Noel,
I'm only guessing here, but I suspect this is still the case...
Under JDK1.3, the title bar produced by a JFrame is provided by the Windows OS, rather than Java itself. You'll find that trying to display foreign characters in a JFrame's title bar on an English Windows system nigh on impossible (you're left with everyone's favourite little rectangles instead). AFAIK, Sun were looking to change this in the future, but I've no idea if they've got there yet.
Windows XP likely refers to Java as a non-Unicode program because it's looking at the main frame. Because the frame is produced by Windows itself (which last I checked was about as Unicode-compliant as my car is), it holds a different encoding to anything else within Java.
At least that's my stab in the dark. ;-)

  • To remove grey title bar in Forms 9i

I am using a Form(Forms 9i services), but when running it using named configuration on WIN2K env., I am getting the typical grey title bar with 'Window' written on extreme left and 'ORACLE' on the right. Can I remove this title bar.
Which files I have to change for Customisation.

mt22 wrote:But what do you mean when you say that if I remove the titlebar later I'll end up with race conditions?
Well, you added a titlebar for all windows (this is done through the "manage" signal). Plus, using "rules", you removed the titlebar for some windows. So your code tried to do something like this:
    A new window spawns.
    ["manage"] Add a titlebar.
["rules"] Remove the titlebar for some windows.
Are you sure that this always happens in this particular order? I am not. Maybe something like this happens instead:
    A new window spawns.
["rules"] Remove the titlebar for some windows (ouch! there is none!)
    ["manage"] Add a titlebar.
    2. and 3. are mixed up here. Now, all your windows still have titlebars.
See, I really don't know if the order of execution is guaranteed. I haven't read Awesome's source code regarding this issue. So, my code avoids the whole issue because only one action is involved:
    A new window spawns.
["rules"] Add a titlebar iff it's not XTerm/luakit/whatever.
I think/hope this is the best way to do it.

  • Title bar in flex

friends i am developind flex windowed application using flex 3. I don't want the title bare of windowed application. i want application like panel. how to remove the titlebar from the application.
i set the propery showtitlebar=false; but this is not working.
is there any other way to remove the titlebar to bring the application like panel.
    it is urgent.

In the AIR -app.xml file, set systemChrome to none:
    <systemChrome>none</systemChrome>
You may have to implement moving and resizing by hand:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/custom_chrome.html
Then in the WindowedApplication, use a Panel container width / height 100%.

When it starts up it has no title-bar or window border and appears to be in full screen mode (since nothing else is visible) but actually isn't. Can anyone help me?

I've also found myself facing the same behaviour of the firefox window; I got bored of the F11 x2 workaround, and tried to start firefox from the terminal, to see if there were any strange error message.
Magically, it started with the correct size, not covering anything it should not.
And now it always open correctly from the usual launcher.
Maybe it can be another way to try... for me it worked.

  • Can't drag windows around using the title bar-CS4

I just upgraded to CS4 at work last week and I'm already regretting it. Firstly, using two monitors, CS4 must like my graphics card becasue as soon as I open a document and it begins to render the window, the main monitor loses it's signal and cuts off. So I have to hard shut down and make my 2nd monitor the main one, open CS4 and a file on that monitor, then make it the 2nd monitor and pass it over to my real first monitor with a file open and make that monitor the main one again. Added to that, randomly, files will open as tabs even though I have the option unchecked in prefs. I hate tabs, I want my windows floating. But I digress.
My current issue is the file windows are not movable using the title bar. I can expand/contract every side grabbing the edge, but clicking, holding and dragging any of the title bar is ineffective. I can drag to tab to undock it, but once floating, the title bar is non-funtional for grabbing. I can also double click on it to tab, just not to drag.
I use a mac at home and thankfully Adobe hasn't forced the edge to edge palette background on that platform. On the mac we get a 'classic view' or something that does away with the desktop blocking grey window background. Seriously, I can't stand the full screen look. Why can't windows have that option to have just the menu bar, palettes and file windows allowing the desktop to be visible? /rant

A new video card is often a good idea if yours is over 2 years old.  Even the modern "budget" (e.g., ~$100) cards are hugely powerful nowadays.

  • Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 jumpy, window title bar pops in and out, window resizes.

Question pretty much sums it up. Windows Title bar keeps flitting in and out, causing screen to jump. Concurrently, right and bottom window margins resize a bit smaller. No apparent rhyme or reason, but leads to a lot of bad mouse clicks. Unrelated to whether the bookmarks tab is open or not. Happens in safemode as well, and my theme is the default. I don't want a plug-in to fix this, I want Firefox 5.0 to behave properly on its own.

The Views menu is only meant to view bookmarks in a different sort order (hence the name of that menu). It doesn't have any lasting effects.

  • How to screencapture CONTENTS of a window, without title bar?

I've been trying to find a solution to doing a screen capture but NOT the window title bar, just the CONTENTS of the window. For example, in Photoshop, I only want the image IN the window, not the bits with the 3 coloured blobs in the upper left of all windows and the document title
All the references I've foiund talk about capturing the wndow, but no-one talks about the contents of the window.
Am I trying to invent a wheel here?
    Any advice gratefully received.

Are you asking about screenshots in general? You have three choices: the entire Mac's screen, an entire window including the title bar, or a selection created by dragging a selection rectangle.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11229
To take a screenshot for posting on this site hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field.
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

  • Option to collapse windows by double-click to title bar only, NOT minimize into dock?

A double-click to a window's title bar did, in former incanations of the Mac system, result in a collapse of the window to title bar only. Currently, it seems that this option is gone? All I find results in "minimize to the dock".
    Is there a hidden option?
Or is there third-party software that adds back this feature?

I was a bit "perplex" about the sensitivity that the term "iOSification" has caused, so I needed a little time to think about that.
From my point of view, the removal of the "collapse a window to the title bar only" function is a feature that fits very well to the wide screen format that we have today. It IS something that was and is (would be) useful on a 27'' screen, and I think it is reasonable to blame the "iOSification" (that is, the attempt to unify the user interface on very small and "real" screens) for the removal of this feature.
I am using Macs since the IIfx (with System 6). It might be that the term "iOSification" fits better to other "back the the Mac" changes to MacOS, but it describes a general attitude that I do start hating.
