[cs4] No video whatsoever on CS4, but plays on 2.0

Sorry my mind is so blank... but couldn't really think where to start.
I haven't used premiere CS4 very much but last time I used it I didn't have anything like this problem.
I captured about an hour of mini-dv using scenalyzer, and a dv capture port on a DVStorm2 (canopus) card.
Intel P4 with P4C800-de mobo.
I saw no problems. I then transferred the clips to machine where I have a CS4 bundle installed and started to go to work on them with premiere.
That machine is a near twin to the capture machine but no DVSTORM card and CS4 Installed.
After loading the clips, I can't see any video in either the source monitor or the program monitor. I have audio and the little viewer in the project window shows a graphic image when I select a clip. (I see no motion there though)
I started fiddling around dragging a clip on to the timeline, and at some point I got video in program monitor, but still not in source monitor. Then at some point the program monitor showed no video again.
I went back to the capture machine and tried the clips there with Premiere 2.0. They display fine So, I thought maybe something bad happened during the transfer. To test I imported a transferred clip into the CS2 version on the capture machine and even pulling it across the network the video is fine on premier 2.0. So apparently the transfer is not the source of the problem.
I need some help debugging the CS4 setup or some ideas how to find the problem.
I probably have basic default settings but not really sure about that because its been a while since I used premiere cs4.

I did yes, and I thought of that not long after posting (more on that later), so to test I opened a video file that wasn't done with canopus tools and find it doesn't display either.

Now as it turns out it appears the clips are not done with canopus aftera all. I hadn't actually checked with gspot:

When playing video in default size it's OK (windows and Linux), but when setting video in full screen, on Linux there's troubles: video is hashed (freeze every 3 seconds).

Hi s, well congrats on getting your brother's computer up and running. On your system, you have all correct Flash Player
files for IE and FF, as well as the SWO and SWF.
Since the Install of Flash Player, have you installed any programs that would have added any ActiveX Controls, or any other add ons or plug-ins?
Have you had an opportunity to see if your brother's computer has the issue you have when watching the same websites?
Are you using any ad-block in FF(Firefox) or any pop up blocker software installed? I can't imagine updating to FP version 10 alone would cause this.
Is this happening only on the BBC website? Does what you watch come thru the BBC website or youtube directly?
We have your brother's computer to use to determine what is going on. If he is able to see the BBC website and what you
are having problems with, then we can rule out the website.
Other browser add ons, anti-virus programs, etc. affect the browser. Even tho, no problem with vs 9. Sometimes updates
can have an affect, even with Windows as we all know:-)

Quicktime player does not play video clip on desktop but plays in iPhoto

QuickTime player opens the video clip but the screen remains blank and no sound either. What am I doing wrong? It plays perfectly well in iPhoto.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Installed Premiere Pro CS4 but video display does not work?

I just got my copy of CS$. After installing Premiere I found two things that seem very wrong:
1) video display does not work, not even the little playback viewer next to improted film clips located on the project / sequence window. Audio works fine.
2) the UI is way too slow for my big beefy system.
My pc is a dual boot Vista-32 and XP system with 4GB of memory installed and nvidia geforce 280 graphics board with plenty of GPU power. The CS4 is installed on the Vista-32 partition. My windows XP partition on the same PC with Premiere CS2 works great and real fast.
Any ideas how to solve this CS4 install issue?

The problem is now very clear to me. The problem only shows up with video footage imported into PP CS4 encoded with "MS Video 1" codec. So this seems to be a bug. The codec is very clearly called out and supported within various menues but video with this codec just will not play in any monitor or preview window. In addition the entire product looks horrible with respect to performance while PP CS4 trys its best to play the video. Audio will start playing after about 30 seconds. And once in awhile part of video shows up at the wrong magnification before blanking out again.
My suggestion to the Adobe team: fix the bug and add some sample footage to the next release so new installations can test their systems with known footage.

MP4 File in Adobe After Effects CS4 Only Plays Audio

So, I recorded some videos of Just Cause 2 on my PS3, and transfered them over to the videos section, I then put the videos on a USB flash drive, and put them on my computer, where I tried to open them in Adobe After Effects CS4, it didn't work. xD
It pretty much has no video, only audio.
But if you play the actual file with a player like Windows Media Player, it'll play fine.
I've tried changing the file extension to Mov, WMV, AVI, and every other one I could think of. And it'll only give me an error saying it's probably not a supported file type xD.
Oh, and I also have other mp4 files that will open in AE fine.
Any help would be awesome.

Transcode the file using tools like SUPER©, MPEGStreamclip, ffmpeg and so on. There are too many flavors of MPEG 4 out there that AE could handle them all and this seems to be exactly one such case.

Soundbooth CS4 only plays a short period

Soundbooth CS4 only plays about half a second of all files and then stops playing.
I have a 2.2 GHz macbook with 4 gb of ram.

Ok. I checked the source code and that error and line references a failed attempt to load the audio device due to an incorrect device ID. I suspect that upgrading to Snow Leopard changed some audio device information that Soundbooth is still trying to use from the original 10.5 installation.
So try the following steps and let's see if they help reset everything.
1. Open Finder, click on your username under "PLACES" then selection Library > Preferences > Adobe > Soundbooth and rename the "2.0" folder to 2.0Backup" Launch Soundbooth. This should force it to rebuild the preference files to their default state, and SHOULD reset any parameters to use any new values common to Snow Leopard.
2. If #1 fails, it may be time to uninstall and reinstall Soundbooth, making certain to enable any options on uninstall to remove all preferences. I am always hesitant to recommend this since it feels defeated and I am only too well aware of how slow the CS4 installer is, but the error you've described indicates there's just some leftover information from the previous OS X install that Soundbooth isn't able to reconcile.
Please let me know your results and we can move on from there. In the meantime, I'll write a bug and see if one of our devs might have any suggestions should the above attempts fail to make a difference.

You can't. Any version before Creative Cloud does not support high-DPI displays and that is just that. If you cannot adjust the system's screen resolution and so on, then there is nothing you can do.

Wmp's? You need to install Flip4Mac.
Most other formats? Install Perian.
Or just use vlc instead. It's a much better, more powerful, and more general video player.
