CS4 not exporting PSD layers.

So what's the secret to exporting layers to Photoshop?
My Illustrator document has layers
My settings seem correct... (I get the same results with Maximum Editability on or off)
But it comes over as one layer...???

I've been using Illustrator since '88 and I just get super annoyed when people repond to forum problems like I just started using it last week.   I'll post the file and you can look at it.
There are Illustrator team members that have been with Illustrator as long as you have been using it and they sometimes contribute ad they sometimes overlook things that are very basic, all of do so the questions are necessary in case someone had a moment  where the wheels got clogged.
Everyone here is trying to help. The amount of experience someone has is meaningless if they help one solve the problem.
You might want to restack the layers in AI just for the purpose of exporting and whether that works or not would be easy enough to find out.

  • CS4 not exporting audio with video

For a while now I've been working on a video for my class, mish-mashing together a bunch of smaller .avi files into a cohesive whole. Everything inside of Premier works perfectly. I edited the audio tracks with Soundbooth, so now they are .wav. When I export the video, first I tried MPEG4 and messed around with a lot of settings. After this didn't work, I searched around and discovered that Premiere occasionally doesn't like it when you change the pre-set settings, so I switched to H.264 High Quality and exported with that. Same deal: the video works fine, no audio. And yes, I made sure to check the box that says "audio and video" and not just video.
In short: How do I get Premiere CS4 to export my audio and video when I tell it to?

I used no special setting. I even tried to just export audio. Still no audio. I checked the file with GSpot, it shows that it has audio.
Then I though I just went ahead an encode this and output to DVD as a test. It is indeed still no audio when playback on home dvd player.

  • Can I export PSD layers to PSD files like I could do in ImageReady 2?

    Hi Folks,
I've been chasing this Layer Export Nirvana for a couple of years now but I've got nowhere.
In ImageReady 2 I could import a PSD file and export layers with exactly the name I used for each layer (with no annotations, prefixes or suffixes), with the entire file size (not cropped to the edge of the image) in a PSD format.
The script in Photoshop adds extenions to the file name that I can't see how to turn off.
I've tried a couple of free (SciptsRus) and commercial (Ferry) scripts but they don't seem to work with my version of Photoshop (Mac CS5 OS X 10.7.4). Is this a result of the recent Javascript updates with Mac OS X 10.7? I'll contact the authors of these scripts next and see what they say.
I tried a PC program called Super Layer which exports to PNG files and almost was what I wanted except it cropped the file size to the size of the image. I could get away with this I suppose if I copied a 1% single pixel into each corner of the file but that would be time consuming for all the layers I need to export (500-600) and means I'd have to rasterise the type layers which is also double handling.
I've even tried Graphic Converter on a Mac but can't get that to quite work. I end up with solid white backgrounds and no transparency.
All I want is to open a PSD file (preferably on Mac OS) and export each layer at the same size on a transparent background with just the name of the layer as the file name as a PSD file. I'll alos accept .PNG format as well as long as I get transparency and full file size. Just like we could do with brilliant effeiciency with ImageReady CS2. I've actually kept an old version of ImageRady on my PC for just this purpose but surely in the 21st Century there is a way around this?
Many thanks in anticipation for any help offered.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with some of the scripts. Normally this is due to the prefferences becoming corrupt. They can be trashed to see if all then works..

I have also written a new script yesterday that includes adjustments layers if the exist, so that may work for you?

  • Premier Pro CS4 not Exporting to Media Exporter

    Hello all,
We've purchased Master Suite CS5, and we are using the complementary Premiere Pro (and After Effects) CS4 on the computers (32-bit systems).  Premiere Pro installed fine (as best we could tell), but we are unable to export the finished files to Adobe Media Exporter.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I'm trying to avoid a reinstall, if there's anything we are missing on settings right after the install.  I'm hoping it's not an issue with CS4 vs. CS5.

  • InDesign CS4 not exporting to ePub with a TOC

I've been trying to export a file to ePub this morning but keep getting the error "Cannot export filename. Export failed" . I narrowed down the problem so that when I uncheck the "Include TOC", the file exports. The only trouble is, I need the TOC. There are no hyperlinks within the document, so that rules out that error that some people have had. I have tried redefining the style, moving it to the top of my paragraph styles panel, typing in the text by hand, creating a separate new document, creating a idml version...I even tried a test of just typing one word with a completely different paragraph style set for the TOC and still got the error. Any suggestions on things I should try? I'd rather not have to type out this TOC by hand in the code.
    Thanks a bunch!

Best suggestion is to upgrade to CS5.5. The EPUB features have been dramatically improved.

  • NEWBIE - DVDSP not recognizing PSD layers

    Hello,
    DVDSP 4
I have a DVD project with a single menu and six tracks.
I have a layered Photoshop file from Photoshop CS2. When I bring it into my menu in DVDSP, it doesn't recognize the layers and composites it into a flat file. I don't see those layers showing up in the Inspector for me to turn on/off.
I'm trying it by dragging and dropping and selecting "Set Background" and I'm also doing it through the pop-up in the Inspector.
    Thank you for any help!

    Hi there,
I think I have some information to back this event happening. I SUPPOSE this is a bug within DVD Studio, please let me explain how I can recreate this behaviour:
    1. Create a new file on the PC with Photoshop CS1.
    2. Transfer this file to the Mac.
-> Opening this file in DVD Studio Pro 2 will crash the app. Opening this file in DVD Studio Pro 4 shows the image BUT discards all layer information. The Asset information window shows that the type of this file is a QuickTime Picture. I suppose that DVD Studio for whatever reason relies on this file being interpreted by QuickTime which flattens the image, resulting in the loss of layers.
    But wait, there is more!
I tried converting this file to something that works by loading it up in Photoshop CS2 on the Mac, saving it as a clone. This clone does not work either. DVD Studio Pro 2 crashes, version 4 shows it as a Quicktime Picture with flattened layers.
What I did next was trying to convert it with the GraphicsConverter tool which comes bundled with MacOS 10.4.4 - but that does not work either.
But now for the interesting part: Creating a new file in Photoshop CS2 on the Mac works flawlessly. If you find this strange, read on. I opened the non-working document in Photoshop 7.0 at work, and tried importing this to DVD Studio (2 & 4). This works flawlessly.
-> I assume that there is someting "odd" with the file structure of the Photoshop document when creating on the PC in version CS1. Photoshop CS2 (and I believe CS1 will do this, too) on the Mac itself has no problems with that file, but DVD Studio. I furthermore guess that by opening this file in version 7.0 of Photoshop forces some structure of the file being rewritten, which makes it compatible again.
I have proof, can recreate this problem and I´d be glad to share the files with someone from quality control to have this bug in DVD Studio Pro fixed...
    Regards
    Chris

  • Line exports as flat PSD file. Can I export as layered file? If not, Will this be introduced later?

  • Exporting a Layered PSD and Overprint Fill

    Hi guys.
I'm trying to export a layered PSD of my AI file and I keep having problems with it merging the layers because of the overprint settings.
I've been trying to go through and turn off the overprint in my objects, but I have a photo that's cropped by a rectangle shape, and the Overprint Fill option under Attributes is greyed out. What must I do?

Well, when I release the clipping mask, both the image and the selection mask do not have the overprint checked or greyed. But when I apply the mask, it turns grey again (with a "-").
    The clipping mask:

  • Captivate 4 not exporting to Flash CS4 correctly

When I export from Captivate 4 to Flash CS4 it doesn't place the imported objects on their own timeline. Instead, it places each object into a movie symbol, which has its own timeline. The problem is that when I save it as a .swf in Flash and then I open it in After Effects none of the highlight boxes are visible.
As you know, After Effects does not see Flash symbols that are buried below the main timeline.
I opened up a project I worked on a year ago (with a different computer) and the Flash files had the exported Captivate items on the main timeline with the object on its own layer. Those files work fine in After Effects.
Can anyone tell me if they are having the same export issue with Captivate 4 not exporting its elements in Flash on the main timeline (as seen in the help file: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Captivate/4.0/Using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119e9582981-7fff. html)?
    Thanks!

I found the solution here (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2004/09/export-captivate-movie-to-macromedia.html). I'll reprint the steps here:
    1. Close Flash CS4 if it is open.
    2. Open Windows Explorer.
    3. Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Captivate
    4. Copy the RDMFISTUB.dll file.
    5. Navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash CS4\en\Configuration
Note: The 'Local Settings' folder by default is hidden. If you are unable to locate the 'Local Settings' folder you can unhide it by opening Windows Explorer, select Tools > Folder Options > View, and select the option to 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Create a new folder called Importers. Your final path should look like this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\Configuration\Importers
    7. Paste the RDMFISTUB.dll into the Importers folder.
    8. Open Flash CS4.
    9. Create a New Flash Document. Save the document (or Flash may freeze when importing)
    10. Select File > Import > Import to Stage.
    11. Browse to and select the CP file.
    12. Click OK.
Here is a comparison picture of the results. Without the steps above the imported Captivate assets will reside inside of a movie symbol (one for each slide). This is labeled "incorrect" in the image. I want each asset on a new layer in the root timeline. This is labeled "correct" in the image.
I want to go from Captivate to Flash to After Effects (because Captivate generated Flash files are unreadable in After Effects). For full disclosure, I used Captivate 3 in the steps above, but I hope this is a solution for Captivate 4 as well (I decided to stick with Captivate 3 because it worked in a project I used a year ago).

  • Will not export one of 3 audio layers

I have tried to export a sequence, but 2 of the 3 audio layers will not export in any format (I've tied several -mp2, H.264 and even just audio in mp3 ). All audio layers play fine in the timeline and when nested in other sequences. However I have the same audio clips in other projects -also in similar layers, and they export without a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks, the file in question …as it turns out was only one of the tracks (not “layer”…sorry), albeit the main track.
I found it as a low res sample off the net. I then slowed it down to 17% - and it sounded great on the timeline. I’ve used it in 2 projects. The first one had no problem.
However in the project in question, no matter what I tired –converting it to WAV in Premiere or whatever, It would play fine on the timeline, but not play when exported (to any format). I took the same file and re rendered it in Soundbooth as a stereo file –both mp3 and the much larger wav, and tied it again. Both files then would export…but the sound mysteriously changed pitch (without using any effects). I then threw up my hands and used Windows sound recorder. This worked. I converted the Windows media file to a wav and mp3 files…and they both work. Very odd!
BTW I prefer mp3 since it saves space, and I’ve had no inherent problem with them and cannot tell the difference with the audio with high quality Mp3s.

  • CS6 PSD Could not export the clipboard because it is too big to export

I have been getting the error "Could not export the clipboard because it is too big to export" since upgrading to CS6. The same files at the same bit depth on the same computer  do not cause this error in CS5.
In fact, I can open a file in CS5, copy it, and paste it into CS6 with no trouble. If I then copy again within CS6 and leave the program, I am given the error. (As a note, I have not run these programs simultaneously, except to run this test.)
This error appears regardless of whether Photoshop CS6 is running alone, or with several apps.
The Raw files are from a Canon 5D mark ii and tend to be 20-25MB in size,
I am running a Mac Pro 2.8GHz Quad Core Intel with 24GB of RAM. I have set the preferences to allocate 70% of this RAM, which should be sufficient. Changing the allocation to 90% or 100% has no effect, nor does adjusting the tiles configuration. My scratch disks have 130GB and 500GB free.
How do I correct this problem?

Hi, FYI, To duplicate a layer on top of itself, use Command+A, Command+J (jump the layer) if you need part of it, make a selection instead of a Command+A, this will also avoid the clipboard, and use Photoshop's scratch disk instead.
(I don't know why you run into that issue in CS6 and not in CS5, so I try to give you useful workarounds)
I'm not talking about bigger tiles, but of unlimited clipboard size that you find here for CS5: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4965
But are not listed here for CS6: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/plug-ins-photoshop-cs61.html#id_68969?PID=3350462
Maybe did you install it in CS5, but forgot all about it?

  • Exporting PSD to JPG/TIFF generate a distorted black color

    Hello,
I use Photoshop CC 2014.1 on OSX Maverick.
When I export a layered PSD to JPG/TIFF I obtain an image with a distorted black color. The image has multiple layers, two of which are the photo I took (with black background) and an added black background.
In Photoshop there is no difference between the 2 background (they have the same black colour), but the result of the exporting is the attached picture.
Could you please help me in solving the problem? How can export the PSD image correctly?
    Thanks.
    Andrea

Even if I flatten the psd there is the same difference
Then the difference is in the layered psd even if it many not be displayed in the layered state – is it visible at View > 100%?
Could you post a screenshot of the border region taken at View > 100%?
Noise in the photograph may be a factor.
I think you should apply a Layer Mask to the photographic element to make sure the background is uniform (the added black background).

  • How does Motion Handle PSD Layered Files?

I've done an extensive search on the Discussions looking for an answer to my problem without luck.
I have a layered file created in Illustrator CS. I exported the file to Photoshop so that I could retain the layers. The file opens and looks normal in PS. I want to import this file into Motion 2.0 so that I can animate some of the layers. The PSD file is in CYMK mode as Photoshop will not allow files to be saved as layers in RGB. Motion allows me to import the PSD layered file as individual layers but all of the text and graphics come in yellow and seem to have lost their original color. I have set PS File Handling to Highest.. If I flatten the file it looks fine in Motion but I lose the layers. Does anyone have any suggestions or methods that could help me?
    Thank you..
    j

The PSD file is in CYMK mode as Photoshop will not allow files to be saved as layers in RGB
I just created a RGB Photoshop file and added several layers, and saved it.
I used the import command from the File menu, and brought the file in with individual layers -- again saved in RGB.
Why won't your PS version allow you to save in RGB?

  • Table of Contents bookmarks not exporting to PDF (CS5)

I have a 200 page book made up of 15 documents.  I've created a table of contents based on paragraph styles and the TOC generates and formats correctly.  When I create the TOC, the Create PDF Bookmarks box is checked.  When I export the whole book I've tried it with Create Tagged PDF checked and unchecked.
After I export to PDF from the Book palette, the TOC items are links (at least they give me the pointer-hand icon) but they don't go anywhere.  The only one that does is the one in the same document as the TOC.  (I have tried the TOC both within a chapter and also in it's own document with no other links in it).  The behavior is the same in the Bookmarks pane - all are shown but only one works.  I've looked at several of the bookmarks' Properties > Actions.  It says its "Going to a page in another document" > (document-name-of-the-correct-chapter-but-with-pdf-instead-of-indd.pdf) > Page 1 (this is correct) > Zoom level: actual size.
This isn't right - it's pointing to an imaginary pdf that doesn't exist.  It should be pointing to page X in the current document.
    Here's what I've tried:
    * restarting InDesign
    * restarting my machine
    * deleting the TOC and regenerating it
    * generating the book with all documents open or all documents closed
    * moving the TOC to its own document
    * probably some other things I've forgotten in the struggle
All of the links and references in the individual documents are good.
I've looked around these forums and this seems to be an ongoing and unsolved issue for other folks using older versions.  This is the closest I came to finding an answer but ended up with an Adobe employee logging it as a bug in 2009.  Bookmarks not exporting from InDesign to PDF in CS4                     By (c_goates)
So here's hoping there is some new information.  I've been trying to get this to work for far too long and don't relish drawing bookmark boxes around all 55 of my text links.
    Specs: Max OS 10.6.6, CS5 (Version 7.0)
Sorry this is so long, but details help, usually.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

There are some known problems with bookmarks and CS5 as well. As far as I know, the 7.0.3 update won't fix them, but it does solve some other problems, so you should install it.

  • Accessing multiple PSD layers in Adobe Photoshop Touch from Creative Cloud is important to me.

Accessing multiple PSD layers in Adobe Photoshop Touch from Creative Cloud is important to me. When will Touch be updated with this function? Want the ability to view multiple layers the same way Creative Cloud website can. Having the ability to turn multiple layers on an off in Touch from and uploaded PSD file. As it stand Touch flattens imported Layered PSD files. (Not very useful)

    Hi Bford225,
I moved your post over to the Photoshop Touch forum because it seemed mostly about Photoshop Touch.
Currently, I'd recommend converting RAW images to Jpeg in either Photoshop or Lightroom and then uploading them to Creative Cloud for working with them in Photoshop Touch. I know raw support is something our developers are considering so please add your vote here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1227
How you best incorporate Photoshop Touch into your workflow is hard to say. What works best for one person may not be true for everyone. Photoshop Touch obviously doesn't have all the capabilities of its desktop counterpart but it does have the ease of use and portability of being on a tablet. Personally, I like using Photoshop Touch for editing images taken with the iPad or my iPhone for convience versus transferring to transfer to the computer, or even if I still do, I can do some of the initial edits from the tablet first. Its nice when I only have the tablet available and not a computer. For images I take with my DSLR I always do my editing in Photoshop and Lightroom. I'm able to make any adjustments on the computer much faster than on a tablet.
If you have the option to shoot in both Jpeg and RAW that might be good option (best of both worlds). Do you have the ability to import images from the camera without using a computer - using a camera connectivity kit or something like that? My recommendation would be expermentation, test out different workflows on the tablet and see how you like it and find what works best for you.
