CS4 on Mavericks?

i own CS4, which worked fine on my previous macbook pro. i have now updated to the latest macbook pro, running mavericks, and when i try to open photoshop i get "Error: 150:30" what can i do to activate my apps? adobe has been NO HELP at all!

I believe that the short answer to your question is that CS4 probably simply isn't supported under Mavericks. I no longer have CS4 on my machine to test this out for you but that would be my guess. Are you able to create a new document?

    I'm having a major licensing issue: Error 150:30 CS4 on Mavericks 10.9.4
I've read & tried the solutions from the "community."
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/6507402
    NOT Helpful!!!
    I can not locate the folder : /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/
I DID: Adobe Licensing Repair tool:
ERROR: "can't open application bc PowerPC applications are no longer supported
I DID: Repair Disk Permissions on HD
I want to make sure that I've done everything possible before I uninstall/reinstall.
    PLEEEEASE HELP!

My recommendation: Use the Adobe Cleaner tool to clean all the CS software off your hard drive:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Download a new copy of your CS4 installer files here:

    Using the installer, install again.

  • InDesign CS4 on Mavericks error

Running Mavericks on a new Macbook Air, and have an issue that's got me beat...
After installing CS4 Design Premium from the original CDs, all programs work fine except InDesign (which worked fine on the old Macbook Pro, on Lion).
No problems at all with the installation, but when trying to open it I get the popular 'Licensing for this product has stopped working' error, with error code '5'.
I followed Adobe's solution options advice, including an uninstall/reinstall, from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac-os.html
However, one solution option I couldn't do - and I'm guessing this is the crucial one - was the one using the Licence Repair Tool.
This wouldn't even launch, due to 'PowerPC applications no longer being supported' in the Mac OS, according to the error. I believe this has been the case for a while now in the later Mac OSs, although the tool is still available for download.
I've also updated JRE, also to no avail.
A Live Chat session with Adobe didn't help either, as they said CS4 is no longer supported via this route - but couldn't give me an alternative option for seeking a resolution, other than to look online (which I've spent a couple of days doing!)
So I'm pretty sure I've exhausted all my options...
I might have missed something though, so any thoughts or advice would be gratefullly received, thanks - especially on an alternative way to somehow get the Licence Repair Tool working with my OS; I think this might be the key.

Today i face the same problem as described by dmgifford. After SSD update i installed the CS4 Design Premium with Mavericks. The installation log for Indesign delivers 'Error 2' without any comment or hint.
During installation i had to terminate the AIR module installation process, because the whole installation were stopped.
Surprisingly other programs like PS, Ai and Bridge are running .... thats confusing and its no solution by Adobe to terminate support due to older versions!
Maybe anybody has an idea to solve this problem ? Or Adobe delivers a new free Indesign version ?

  • Can't install cs4 on Maverick 10.9.2

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way around this, I lost my hard drive on my Mac Book Pro and have had a new one installed. I am running Maverick 10.9.2 but unable to reinstall CS4, I get this message ‘You can’t open the application “install adobe creative suite” because powerpc applications are no longer supported’ I had it working on my old hard drive while running Maverick but cant install it on my new one.

    Kpauole,
I agree with sberman that you should remove Adobe Reader if your do not need it.  However, I also have Adobe Acrobat Standard XI, and I also occasionally experience exactly the same error that you are having with Reader.  Unfortionatly, I have never been able to find a solution other than rebooting (which solves the issue).
Luckily, even though I work with dozens of PDFs daily, I only have this issue about once ever few months.  Therefore I've not been willing to invest any time in finding a a real solution but can tell you that a reboot solves the issue for me with the full Acrobat product and therefore may solve it for you with Reader.  And, the problem does not seem to happen frequently so a reboot now and then doesn't bother me.
I hope this works for you as well while we wait and hope that Adobe comes up with a patch in some future version.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Dreamweaver cs4 in mavericks - Licensing Stopped Workin

I tried to use my copy of Dreamweaver CS4 - which I have used a long time, also on Mavericks, but came out a message stating Licensing Stopped Working Error:3. I contacted support and they told me to reinstall the program. The setup on my original disk, as well a copy I downloaded from Adobe, quits a few seconds after starting the installation. Anybody has info on how to solve the problem?

  • "Could not initialize photoshop" CS4 on Mavericks

Every time I try to open Photoshop on OSX Mavericks, I get an error message that says, "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error." I have deleted the preference file several times, updated Java, first from the Apple site, then from Oracle, uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop twice, and still I get the same error message and PS will not open. Error Log says: 2014:01:03 09:42:53 : /Volumes/workarea/PS_11_Mac_Daily_Retail/20100519.r.592/photoshop/main/photoshop/xcode/.. /framework/sources/UTEView.cpp : 4269 : REQUIRE failed How do I get Photoshop CS4 to work with Mavericks? I cannot find any solutions that work. I'd appreciate any help!

    Boilerplate-text:
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Problems license CS4 on maverick 10.9.2

    Hi,
InDesign CS4 no longer opens and shows me the window that the license is no longer authorized for this product. Adobe support has not solved the problem.
    Photoshop and Illustrator work OK.
    thx in advance
    Luca

CS4 is old and was never designed for Mavericks. You can try uninstalling or running the Adobe Cleaner tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then reinstall again from your original media. If you cannot find it, then you can download here (but there are no guarantees that it will work):

  • Running cs4 w/mavericks. won't print from PS. Printer icon appears then disappears -

This started recently. I think I was in the middle of setting up a custom size for my epson 2880 when something happened. Now when I try to use the photoshop controls printing command, I'll hit print, it will start to respond, the printer icon appears then disappears and then nothing happens. I can print from other apps, I use quad tone rip for b&w and am now printing color using color sync, I can also print from LightRoom, but no luck through PS.

    Has most recent drivers.
Yes, it will print from a PDF – it will print from preview, Acrobat, Word, OpenOffice - Anything other than InDesign it seems!
Tried deleting and re-installing printer. No change, unfortunately.

  • Photoshop CS4 crash on launch in Mavericks

Just re-installed CS4 suite on a new iMac with OSX10.9 and it immediately quits with message 'Not enough privilages to run'. Anyone any ideas. Adobe say they have tested CS4 with Mavericks and its ok. The rest of the apps in the suite (eg Illustrator ) run ok.

where does it say adobe tested cs4 with mavericks?

  • I am about to upgrade my MacBookPro to Mavericks and wonder if CS4 is compatible?

Is anyone using CS4 with Mavericks?

Well, I can't say for sure. I spend a lot of time in the InDesign forum and InDesign CS4 doesn't seem to survive in Mavericks very well. As for other applications, you should ask in the forums for the applications you use the most.

  • How to put my serial number into trial version of CS4

I had to have someone partition my computer so I could reinstall snow leopard as a plotter machine plug in for illustrator is not compatible with Maverick.
I have CS4 on maverick but I do not have a hard copy as my external hard drive with the original download bit the dust years ago.
Of course there is no way that I can download a copy of my original purchase of premium design CS4 so after days of looking found a trial version.
This (after a few hiccups) is now up and running.
It does not unfortunately accept my valid and paid for serial number.
So I have have 30 days to sort this problem out.
    HELP PLEASE.
I really cannot afford to buy a hard copy of this again.

    Hi, A.T.R
Thank you so much for your common sense reply. I contacted Adobe via their online chat help facility. One of their tech guys resolved the issue by re-setting the Hosts file. Now I have seen this in the forums and it basically involves making a back-up copy of the Hosts file deleting certain entries and applying again.. Thankfully this worked for me. But I would urge Adobe to look into this matter as there are many novices I am sure will be extremely frustrated at what should be a straight forward approach when validating their software. Most people would know there internet was working ok and most people would be able to disable anti-virus software etc, but to continue getting a failure to validate a serial number online would in my opinion beggar belief !! for most technically minded folks out there. Most annoying.
When anyone purchases legacy software from Adobe, no one wants this kind of problem. The software is not cheap.
My purchase was Adobe Premiere Elements 13 and it is a great piece of software for video editing. I can however recommend it. It is very good for both novice and professionals
    Thank you.
