CS4 Photo Transition

Older versions of flash had AS for a motion called "photo
transition" (think a cross fade with a bit of a "bright flash). How
do I do this?? I can't seem to locate the AS to make it happen,
there are no presets that speak to it, and other than that, I am
rather lost. Help please!
(FYI: there are two containers in a banner that I want photos
(6-8 different ones) to smoothly transition in and out of).

It's still there, as long as your FLA file is configured for
ActionScript 2.0. Based on your description, you're looking
for the
TransitionManager class:

... used in conjunction with tese transition classes:

  • Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader issue

If I use Bridge CS4 photo downloader to retrieve images from a CF card, the download appears successful. Bridge and photoshop can process all files without problem from the download directory.
Subsequently, if I use Digital Photo Professional (Canon's provided image browser - known as DPP) to view the download directory, DPP will crash with a "DPPViewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close ..." fatal error window.
If I subsequently delete the first file from the download directory, DPP will successfully operate without crashing.
I have performed this test multiple times and it is "reasonably consistent".
If I use PhotoMechanic to download the images (Rather than Photo Downloader), DPP will never have an issue reading all files.
If I change Photo Downloader options to uncheck "Preserve Current File Name in XMP" and "Apply Metadata" to NONE, files can be imported by Photo Downloader and read properly by DPP.
My interpretation of this is that Digital Photo Downloader may have a problem properly downloading the first file from the CF card (hummm. a boundary condition :-) this may be associated with metadata.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Seems like I have seen posts where the autoload does not work correctly when you plug in a usb device  with 64 bit systems.  This is Windows Os thing.  Might google this to check for solutions.

  • Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader Date Created

Quick question. When using the Adobe Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader to download pictures from a camera, how do I keep the original shot dates (date created) to show up in the Finder Info. Seems like it's just putting the date modified (downloaded date and time) into the date created.
    Is this a known bug?

    Thanks, John.
I did do a search before posting but didn't find an answer.  My alternate way of doing this is in Unix with a shell script and DCRAW, but in trying to create a standard workflow, I realized this was one place that complicates things.
Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • Need some help for photo transitions

How can i make a banner using photo transitions like this: www.sportrecife.com.br ?!
Can i make it using iweb?!

Welcome to the discussions. I could be wrong, but it looks like that is being done via Javascript. One way to achieve a similar effect is to create a QT movie slideshow. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings.
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser.

  • Audio freezes during photos transitions

    Hello,
after burning DVD, when playing the disc on a regular dvd player, the music jumps during the photos transitions in the diaporama. When playing the disc on the macbook, everything is fine. My wish is to send the disc to other people so they can watch that DVD... Is there a way to get it to work or should I just eliminate the transition?

Thanks but it isn't the case, the preview is fine,
but the final burned disc is my problem. On the
macbook, everything is fine, but on a regular dvd
player, audio jam during every transitions.
Sorry, but that's the way it works. Slides in a slideshow are actually 'chapters' and some DVD players drop the audio on chapter changes.
The ONLY way to get continuous audio during a slideshow for all DVD players is to create your slideshow with audio as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie.

  • Cool photo transitions

    Hi there!
I'm still using MX. Does anyone know how they do those cool
photo transitions like on the American Apparel page?
    http://americanapparel.net/gallery/photocollections/

That is really nifty. It looks like a combined set of
movieclip masks to me. There are some nice tutes on dynamic masks
for many versions of Flash. I would try www.flashkit.com to see if
    you can find something similar.

  • CS4 Photo downloader - can I change the default path?

I'm using Bridge on Windows 7 x64. I have 2 hard drives exclusively for photographs. I never, ever store them in 'C:\Users\Mary\Pictures'.   But when I download images with the Photo Downloader, C:\Users\Mary\Pictures' is the folder I'm offered. There's no box in which to paste a folder string - and it takes 9 clicks (including a couple in the scroll bar of the dialog box) to navigate to 'S:\Pictures, Initial\2 - Initial Negative Scans\2010 Initial Scans\[current subfolder]'.  Is there any way of making the downloader believe that I always want to download to S:\Pictures,  Initial\2 - Initial Negative Scans\2010 Initial Scans\....? I'm used to editing the Registry, but I can't find anything to edit in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Bridge CS4\Preferences.  Thanks  Mary

Curt  You're right, it is something in Win 7.
I remembered that I have CS4 on my laptop, which is still running WinXP, and tried the Photo Downloader there. It had remembered the last folder I pointed it to, way back in September.
I then found a note telling myself what I had done to stop Bridge from using the c:\docs & settings\.....my pictures folder in XP. I'd used a utility that changes your default pictures, videos, etc., folders to whatever you want them to be.
I never keep anything in them, so I  used the utility in Win 7  to change the default Pictures folder to 'S:\Z\ Pictures'.  When I opened Bridge Photo Downloader, the 'location' folder was  now 'S:\Z\ Pictures'. I navigated from there to 'S:\Pictures,  Initial\2 - Initial Negative Scans\2010 Initial Scans', created a subfolder, uploaded some raw files from the card reader, closed Bridge, and rebooted.
When I re-opened Bridge and the Photo Downloader, it still pointed to my last used folder. Triumph!
Thanks for your help. I wouldn't have got there without it.
I'll look on the Windows 7 forum to find out whether there's a less drastic way of doing this. After all, some people may want to keep their C:\Users\[user]\Pictures folder for non-Photoshop pix. There should be a way of doing it.

  • How to import Bridge CS4 photo gallery into Dreamweaver CS4?

I'm a novice when it comes to web design, but am starting to master DW CS4. While searching for a way to create good looking photo galleries I found an online video explaining how to do it using Bridge. The process in Bridge was strainght forward and simple. However, I have not found how I can bring the photo gallery I created in Bridge into a page based on a template in Dreamweaver. Can it be done? How?
I designed a template for our website which I would like to use for any photo galleries in order to maintain the same "look and feel" and ease of navigating within our website (www.aquacomgroup.com).
    Please help!

I'm having the same problem & desperate to find out how to do this!! Help!!

Since updating to CS4, I can no longer use the Adobe photo downloader,  The pop up screen says "Loading devices list" and freezes that way forever. What can I do to make this work again?

  • Urgent IMovie HD photo transitions help!

Ok, I'm a total virgin to this imovie HD thing!I read through the manual it makes it sound easy how to apply the transitions, drag them between two photos and you are done. I've done that but for some reason, say I have 5 photos and I put the 'warp out' command between 4 & 5, when it's doing the transition with the command it's doing a circle thing and I actually want to see the 5th photo coming out when the transition is finished but for some reason it's all black!.Why????I dont understand the concept! Is there a good interactive video that shows everything one by one. Apple web site shows the new Imovie which I dont have, so no use!
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi Dams:
Is there a good interactive video that shows everything one by one
You can watch this one-it's the same for iMovie 5 and imovie 6
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/imovie/im3-6.html
    Sue
Also-if it's coming out black, maybe the transition is longer than the photo. Have you tried making the transition shorter?

  • Still photo transitions

I am using FCE 4.0.1 HD.  I have a bunch of still photos that I have brought into my sequence, but can't seem to put in transitions between the photos.  I try dragging the transitions in from my effects pallete, but they don't work.  transitions for videos are fine.  Any ideas?

    Do you have Media Handles?
Search this forum for MH and all should be clear.
In short, no MH, no transition.

  • Pixel effects during photo transitions

I've just burned a DVD slideshow, and when I play it in my home theater, the photos briefly develop a "pixel" effect (pixels briefly outline objects in the photos; sorry, I don't know how else to explain this) as they transition from one photo to the next. I don't see this effect when I play the DVD on my G5. Does anyone have any insights as to what might be occuring and how I can correct this? It's very distracting. Thanks!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

re: pixel effects during playback of iDVD slideshow:
Thank you each for responding (F Shippey, Beatty1, and Len Goff) - taking my media to the home theater shop and trial the slideshow in other DVD players. But my current player is a Panasonic advanced progressive scan, 6 months old, and my understanding is that Panasonic is one of the better makers in terms of compatability with computer-generated slideshows, etc. I hope I have to fork out for a different player, as that $$ would be a nicer outcome than having to put up with the effect "pixelizing" has on the eyes.

  • Blank image between photo transitions

I am using the overlap type of transition between photos and for some reason I am getting a sudden blank image prior to each of the transition effects. I have done this before without any problems, I do not know why I have this problem now. Each photo duration is 10 seconds and the transition is 2 seconds. I have varied the duration of both the photo and the transition (up and down), but it has not helped. I will appreciate any help. I am using a MacBook with OS 10.4.8 and iMovie 6.0.3(267.2)

Please bear with me, remedina. Can I guess at a solution? I've never personally seen this problem, but it's been reported here from time to time. I don't think the cause has been found, nor a good solution.
(To find other topics about it, search this forum for "Transition and black and frame", without the quotes. Ignore topics discussing black frames in the preview when importing images. Different problem.)
For the record, is the "blank" frame black or white?
My guess is iMovie is getting the math wrong while building the transition. Perhaps it's building a transition clip that is 99 frames long but it thinks it's 100 frames long. The result: a blank frame. Or it plays the clip AFTER/BEFORE the transition incorrectly, playing a frame that is "empty".
Either way, playback is "missing" one frame. Either the transition itself is flawed or the playback of the clip that follows/precedes it is flawed.
(Remember, iMovie modifies the playback of the original clip(s) too when you add the transition, at least for some transitions. If the new description of those clips is wrong, playback of those clips will be flawed.)
To help iMovie get the math right while building the transition, I'd try removing one frame from the clip that FOLLOWS the planned transition. THEN add the transition.
If that doesn't work, try removing one frame from the PRECEDING clip before adding the transition.
I don't recall anyone reporting exactly where the flawed frame resides. Is the flawed frame in the transition clip? If so, is it the last frame of the transition? Or is it the first frame of the clip that follows the transition? Or the last frame of the clip that precedes the transition? Somewhere else?
You should be able to tell by selecting the transition clip and using the right/left arrowkeys to play through the transition. If you see a flawed frame it's in the transition clip. If, on the other hand, you DON'T see a flawed frame but see it only when you select and play the clip following it, then the transition is okay but the error is in playing the following clip. Same with the preceding clip.
Either way, deleting one frame from the clip AFTER the planned transition or BEFORE it may solve the problem. It changes the math. It changes any rounding calculation, for example. No promises, but it's worth a try.
One other idea: the math error may be affected by whether or not the Ken Burns checkbox was on when you imported the image. iMovie describes the imported photo two different ways, depending on whether or not the checkbox was on. If you strike out above, you might try re-importing the image(s) using the opposite checkbox setting.
Please let us know what you discover. Good luck.

  • CS4 Photo Downloader imports photos in wrong order

I decided to give Photo Downloader a whirl with a batch of photos I took this weekend. I had about 400 photos spread over three cards, so I had them renamed with the date and a counter. I was using the high-speed drive mode on my camera (5Dmk2) and I noticed in one spot where I blew off a run of photos, Bridge imported them in some order other than the filename counter in the camera.
I was looking at about a half-dozen shots of someone shooting a basketball and noticed that it looked like the ball came out and then was shot again, something that didn't happen in the game. Fortunately, I had Bridge embed the original filename from the camera into the XMP data and sure enough, Photo Downloader screwed up the order of the photos.
How does Photo Downloader determine the proper order to download photos? There are no options to change the import order and the software clearly doesn't just read the filenames to get it sorted out.
Any ideas? Or just stop using Photo Downloader? Or do I have to download the files, then rename then in filename order in Bridge?

It is a known issue that Photodownloader can't get this sort order right every time, the higher frequency of motordrive used the more it will screw up.
However when you don't use the rename function in downloader it will be more accurate. Feel also free to file a bug report about this using the contact button top right of this page, the more complaints the faster it will be repaired you would hope...).
I rarely have sessions with that high speed but it occurred to me also and using no rename did suit me :-)
You can then easily rename them in Bridge (also with more options) but it would be preferable that it worked right in downloader!
The ups for using downloader are still great, without this rename setting for speedy jobs you are still left with the possibility to keep the original filename (and disable that in the Bridge batch renaming option), convert to DNG, make a back up copy and add a metadata template in one go :-)

  • Bridge CS4 Photo Downloader

I like the organizational feature of Photo Downloader to place photos in a subdirectory based on metadata in the image.  However, I can only do this when reading from a camera or media card.
Is there any way to trick Photo Downloader to do this with other media (existing subdirectory, external drive, or DVD)?
If not, is there another way to feed a bunch of photos to Bridge and have them moved into dynamically created subdirectories based on metadata critera?
    Thanks in advance,
