CS4 Premiere Pro_How to Zoom out/in on stills?

I have stills (still jpeg images) in my timeline and I want to create the effect of zooming in or out of them (like they were video and not stills). How do I do this in Adobe Premiere CS4?  Thank you-please help.

I went to effect control and fussed with the scale (still clueless) can't find the velocity you refer to.
When you click on your still image, and have the Effects Control Panel open, the first thing that you will do is move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) in either the main Timeline, or in the mini-Timeline, to where you want your image to be 100%. Click the little stopwatch, and you will see a Keyframe added in the Effects Control Panel. Now, your next step will depend on exactly how you wish your animation to work. I'd next to where you wish for the Scale to change and click the little solid circle, between the two opposite arrows. This will add another 100% Keyframe. The other Keyframes can be added the same way, or you can move the CTI and just change the Scale (either typing, scrubbing, or with the slider). A Keyframe will be added there.
Once you have gotten your Keyframes set for your Scale, it's probably easiest to Rt-click on each Keyframe, and choose your Velocity settings there. For more involved Velocity settings, one can go to the Velocity Graph, but that tends to be a bit advanced.
Also, you may also wish to explore the fixed Effect Motion>Position. It can be Keyframed along with Scale, or totally independent. It too has a stopwatch, and its own line in the Effects Control Panel's mini-Timeline.
I've got links to basic Keyframing tutorials, but they are for PrElements, and there are enough differences, that they might be of little use.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • New Premiere user, 3 issues : zooming out, changing keyboard shortcuts, removing gain

    Hi there,
Former FCP user here transitioning to Premiere, first time on this forum.
I have 3 separate issues when using Premiere cc or 2014 :
1/ When I try to zoom out using my tablet, I press 'z' to select the zoom tool, then hold the 'alt' key and click multiple times. But only several (one or two at most) clicks are taken into account, and after one or two clicks, the software seems to forget the alt key and starts zooming in. I'm aware of the 'minus' key shortcut on the keyboard, but a lot of times it would be much faster for me to do it this way. Is there a way to fix this ?
2/ I want to switch the hotkey "return" from "rendering effects" to "rendering selection". But when I try to hit 'return' in the shortcut window (after selecting the right action and getting the prompt box), it assumes I'm selecting 'Ok' and leaves... Any idea how I should do ?
3/ This one should be easier but I can't seem to find it : how do I remove the gain control line from the clips on the timeline ? I keep changing the audio gain when all I want to do is grab a clip.
    Thanks a bunch !

Yes, I tried scrapping my preferences, but to no avail. I should perhaps have specified that my program runs in International English, but the keyboard is French. However, this is the first time using PS that this problem has arisen.

  • Zooming out in Bridge CS4

Is it possible to zoom out when viewing large illustrator files in Bridge? Currently, in the preview window I can only see the artboard (say, A4 size). However, when working on some drawings, quite a lot of important elements are off the artboard. Is it possible to zoom out such that a much greater area can be seen in Bridge?
    All thoughts gratefully received!
    Edward

It only shows you the borders of the art board and you can't zoom out, only
zoom in is possible with full screen preview using space bar or loupe in
    preview window.
However you could try an other workaround, in Illustrator go to the menu
file/document setup. Inhere you can edit the art board.. Resize it with
dragging the corners to the outside of your artwork and re save it, now you
    can see the whole drawing.
    All thoughts gratefully received!

  • Premiere Pro CS5 runs out of memory

I have the same problem with Premiere running out of memory loading a project with lots of images in it.  Running task manager, you can see it eat memory at 250MB per second until it pegs the meter after a short time and then things start failing.  The CS4 version does not have this problem and opens the project without error.

What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of those still images? If they are overly-large, there is a very heavy load, when working with that Project. For Scaling them to fit the Sequence Frame Size, with automation in PS, see this ARTICLE.
If one's computer is already on the borderline for resources, overly-large stills can shove it over the brink. There are few reasons to use overly-large images, as one can only ever see the pixels in the Sequence's Frame Size. The only reason for using images larger than that Frame Size are to Pan on Zoomed out images, with Effect>Motion>Position.

  • CS4 Premiere (and Encore) crash on opening with blue screen

I have been having a terrible time with CS4 Premiere Pro crashes over the last month or so.  Initially PP would just disappear from the screen as it was opening up, and if it didn't crash it was quite often after the Matrox RT.X2 logo came up after selecting the project to open.  I had less problems starting a new project than opening a previous one.  Sometimes it would open and crash during the work process without warning...forcing me to save after every change.  Then it got worse.
I looked to the Adobe CS4 bulletin on crashes and it was suggested to update drivers.  The first driver I looked at needed an update (Nvidia Quadro FX1500 256 MB) so I had their download service do the work and installing.  During the process it stopped with 'Nvidia display pannel extension cannot install due to a version mismatch.  Resetting the display drives may solve this problem' without any suggestions on how to do that.  I have 2 Dell 24" monitors slightly different from each other but worked great before all this.
From this point everything got even worse.  System Restore to the previous day did nothing.  Everytime I tried to open Premiere (or Encore) the whole computer crashed (blue screen) and restarted automatically.  I can no longer play any video without crashing -- not an AVI, MOV, WMV, etc.  Not even a finished DVD will play on the computer now.
I have the latest versions updates of Premiere Pro 4.2.1 as well as the Matrox RT.X2 tools.
While the Nvidia driver update situation made the situation worse, I was having problems with Premiere Pro CS4 way before this with 'instant' crashes and no warnings.  Strange that Photoshop CS4 works just fine as this has evolved into a video problem...and I need your help to get PP running again.
I'm not a techie so please reply in novice language.  When CS4 came out it took Matrox quite a while to get off 'beta' tools upgrade so I waited until it was off beta (April 2010) and had my computer hardware expert upgrade my computer with CS4 and the new Matrox install -- way too technical for me to do.  It worked great...until about a month ago when all this started.
I don't think the equipment I have now on my 2006 computer would work with CS5 - maybe you can look below and tell me.
For reference, here is my equipment:  XP Professional SP 3; AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor; 4800+  2.41 GHz, 3.25 GB RAM; Nvidia Quadro FX1500 256MB; 2 Dell monitors - 2407WFP and ST2410; Matrox RT.X2; 2TB WE Raid Edition SATA 16MB; Blu-Ray burner BDR-2058BK; Pioneer 111 Dual Layer DVD Rewrite Burner; Sound Blaster Audigy4 24 Bit; Built in FD controller 2 IDE on the main board.
    Brian

Thanks harm for your suggestions but I'm lost.  I am not a techie.  Went to your thread on building a new computer and it was way way over my head...so I'm back here asking for your suggestions as I couldn't even figure out how to copy/paste my equipment listed above and post this message there instead.
Took my box back to the vendor who put it together for me in 2006 for $6000 and he's going to try and get it up and running again for me.  I told him about your recommendation to lose the Matrox and he doesn't think it's the problem if I want fast rendering, etc.  He says he's used RT.X2 in a ton of systems he's put together and work just fine.  He's going to try getting my present computer running, first of all without any new additions and then make suggestions.  It ran beautifully under CS2, so much so I skipped CS3 and was very late adding on CS4 ... and that's when the problems started.  Perhaps CS4 was just too demanding for my 2006 equipment...which probably means CS5 is even more demanding.
    So....two questions:
    1. If I upgrade what I've got, where do I start?  Or is it worth upgrading or better to start brand new (budget problems no doubt)
    2. If I start brand new, what do I put in the new box?  I looked at your 3 different cost areas and the budget config is probably not what I need but warrior level too high.  Even the middle road you recommened looks a little low for what I want to do making BR disks, but you would know.
I assume some of the current equipment I've got could still be used, perhaps even the Matrox if that keeps costs down by not having to replace it with something else.  There is a new C drive for my programs and a new 2TB internal hard drive for files (which I mirror backup to an external 2TB drive).
Could you make some build recommendations that I could give to my vendor?  Many thanks.
    Brian
ps...how do you copy/paste on this forum?

  • Control + minus zoom out - please read

I use the control + minus for zooming out with my left hand (using control key on RIGHT side of keyboard and don't need to remove right hand from mouse) so often it's subconscious. Now, when I use that keystroke it turns the cursor into the minus pen tool. PLEASE READ FURTHER.
If I remove my hand from the mouse and use the control key on the LEFT side of the keyboard it works but I don't want to have to do that.  I have upgraded from CS4 to CS5, and it is still doing this, AND got a brand new keyboard. It works fine in Photoshop - it just does this in illustrator, and it's driving me NUTS.  so it's not my keyboard, and it shouldn't be illustrator since I upgraded. WHAT is going on?  I need this to function because I use it all the time and don't want to have to think before doing it, or have to slow myself down by using both hands.  HELP!  (and thanks to anyone who can tell me how to get out of this loop of hell!)
[p.s. will be out of office for next week so may not be able to respond after today]

    Edit  >> Keyboard Shrcuts
Though the PC or Mac both don't discrimate whether you use the left or right CMD or Ctrl in Illustrator,  I would still check these out.
The PC also has a control panel for international keyboard languages & assistance for handicapped, take a look at those. I don't have a Win station in front of me at the moment to give you the exact name of those.

  • CS4 Premiere locking up royally on little mts files on Mac Pro Lion 10.7, is CS5.5 any better

Sorry for long title, got the boxes mixed up.
Having trouble working with HDV mts files in CS4 Premiere on a new 12 core MAC Pro with Lion 10.7 OS
Have used Adode CS3 and now CS6 at my office regularly. CS6 can work with about any file type.
Found this ClipWrap program on online and have re-wrapped these mts files into .mov files. They do open and must be each rendered out and do so slowly. Scrubbing the video doesn't do well - locks it up.
Very certain I have plenty of Computer power, is CS4 a dog? It will open CS6 projects that I bring home from work and do basic cutting on with M2T files and MPEG2 HD video.
I also do not see near as many Transition and Effects options for Audio or Video in CS4 as I had back with the old CS3 when I use it - very puzzling.
Would CS5.5 give me more optimal performance with this MAC? Do I need a third party card? We now run full HD on CS6 at work without using the Blackmagic card I have. Should uninstall and re-install the software? I am a video editor, just doesn't seem to perform like it should.
I am considering looking into the Final Cut X after this. Thoughts on this subject welcome.
    Thank you.

    Anything??

  • How do i zoom out of the video?

Everytime i import a video clip into Adobe Premiere Pro Cs6 it automatically zooms into the video. How can i zoom out of the video, this is really bugging me. Sorry i just started using this yesturday. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of the Video Clips?
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of the Frame Size in your Sequence's Settings?
Those do not match, where they should, unless you have a very good reason for them to be different. One can Scale UP the Video to match, but that is usually going to degrade the Video quality.
    Good luck,

  • Liquify Filter PS CS5: Zooming Out Glitch in Keyboard Shortcut?

I've been regularly encountering a problem using the keyboard shortcut for Zoom Out ("Cmd -") when using the Liquify filter and wonder whether this problem has been encountered by other users. "Cmd -" has the opposite effect of its intended purpose, and instead of zooming out, leads to zooming in.
I've tried the new Liquify plug-in beta that Adobe was kind enough to provide so quickly (recognizing that it was designed to address other issues) but the problem recurs with it as well. "Cmd +"  for zoom in works as expected. Although I'm using a French keyboard, these two keyboard shortcuts work as intended elsewhere in PS CS5 and in CS4 both generally and specifically with the Liquify filter. This applies for systems running Mac OS 10.6.3 and 10.6.4.

Yes, I tried scrapping my preferences, but to no avail. I should perhaps have specified that my program runs in International English, but the keyboard is French. However, this is the first time using PS that this problem has arisen.

  • Effect Controls Timeline keeps zooming out

So I'm currently working on a tutorial video that involves a lot of stopping and starting.  I'm loving Premiere's method of creating freeze frames (drop a keyframe in the Effect Controls timeline where you want it to freeze, option+cmd+drag it to the point where you want it to resume) however every time I do it, the Effect Controls timeline zooms out to show the entire project.  This is frustrating as I need to re-zoom in every time I want to freeze it; does anyone know a way around this?

Ok, so here's a more detailed description.  The way I know to freeze a frame is to drop a speed keyframe (which has a left and a right half), and to then hold down Option+Command and drag the right half of the keyframe to where you want it to stop freezing.  This usually relies on zooming in to the Effect Controls timeline since I'm only freezing for a few seconds at a time; but the problem is as soon as I let go of the mouse to drop the end of the keyframe, the timeline snaps back to full view.

  • Zooming out during a clip

    Me again.
I've shot a video using an autocue and because of this i was unable to zoom out during filming. Using premiere pro how can I can give the effect I'm panning out of the shot to reveal what is on the subjects desk?
    Thanks

    Biggles Lamb wrote:
    Select the clip
Go into the effects tab and select motion
There you will be able to scale and move the clip around
But that will only work if there is more of the clip to reveal when you scale it down or move it. That's unlikely in most cases, so animating motion will only reveal black around the image when you downscale or move it. You'll probably need to re-shoot the footage and zoom out if possible.

  • Best way to "zoom out" - have an object appear further than shooted?

I need to shoot a clip on a green screen where 3 people will be faking walking.
Then I will superpose it on a desert background pic (have it).
As I do not have a large room, (and do not wish to have a 1 sq. mile of green screen)... : is there a way (effect) in Premiere that would allow me to "zoom out" the shot - in other words, to have those 3 people smaller than the real shot so they seem to come from far in the desert ?
(Let's face that the further I can be from the subject with the camera will be approx 12-15 feet).
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • 4k Playback in 1080p Sequence - Zoom out in 1/2 resolution

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to edit some GH4 4k files in Premiere CC 2014 on a 1080p sequence. But I'm having problem when setting the playback resolution to 1/2.
What happens is that whenever I add some effect, the image in playback will zoom out 50%.
This only happens to 4k footage with effects on it. Without effects or a 1080p clip will playback just fine. Also, this only happens in 1/2 resolution playback. When I set to 1/4 it works just fine.
    Can you guys help me?
    Thanks

Not sure how to check that. (Sry, I'm new to this tech stuff)

Red Giants Suits, Film Convert, Premiere "Stylize" effects (But no problem with Mosaic). Premiere Color Balance (HLS). Looks like I don't have problem with "Accelerated Effects".
    • have you scaled the 4K footage to fit the 1080 sequence? If so, how exactly?
Yes and no. But I have the problem in both situations. When scaling down I just go to "Motion" and set to 50%. When not scaled, the image "fits" (zoom out 50% when playback).
By the way, I didn't mention that this is just a playback problem. When I export I don't have any issue.

  • Photoshop CC distorted image when zoomed out. Text, edges and Straight lines.

I get this distorted image when working on a file. When I zoom in its fine. But as soon as I zoom out all the lines, text , and edges start to become distorted. I've checked that all my drivers are up to date. I've re installed photoshop and still the same thing. Any Suggestions. ( files look fine when saved or exported, this just happens while Im working )

That looks like a Moiré pattern.  Did you scan the image?
If not, can you tell us what operating system?
And is your video card driver fully up to date from the maker's website?

  • I plugged my macbook pro into an external monitor, then unplugged it later and now it is stuck with black borders on top and bottom and zoomed out like it is still on the monitor. How do I fix it?

I started using my external monitor with my macbook pro and as soon as I plug it in it to the monitor it adjusts the screen by zooming out a bit and creating about 3/4 of an inch black borders on the top and bottom of the screen. But these dont show up on the monitor so I assumed it was fine. But when I took it off the monitor, the borders were still there like it was still on the monitor. Any hellp? Its starting to mess with my eyes haha.

    Hi aefulcher,
It sounds like you had the external display set to mirror the internal display so the resolution(s) were changed to match each other.
