CS4 Print dialog Gamut Warning doesn't respect Gamut Warning Color in Preferences

I set my Gamut Warning Color to a bright green, but the Print dialog Gamut Warning display just uses the default mid gray.

Photoshop lets you choose whatever color you want.
Gamut warning is something that you turn on, and can just as easily turn back off.
It defaults to being OFF.
But what you might be seeing is not gamut warning,  but a bug in your video card driver.  Updating the video card driver may fix it.

  • Photoshop CS4 Printer Controls will not center images

I have two Epson Printers-The Stylus Pro 4000 and the Stylus Photo 1280, both several years old.  I have downloaded and installed the most recent drivers for each.  When printing from CS4 to either printer, and using the "center image" choice, I cannot get the print to be centered with equal margins on opposing sides.  I have read various articles on how to do this, but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

Thank you Jeff for your response.  I have tried the approach of the
custom paper size, but it does not seem to work right on my
configuration.  I will keep trying.  Do any of your books deal with
another problem which i am having relative to my switch from PC
Windows XP to OSX relative to a concurrent switch from CS3 to CS4.
The color ICC printer profiles for my Epson 4000 have not been
recognized by CS4 printer dialog box, though Lightroom 2 does find
them.  They still exist in a file in the Library.  I am not sure
whether the OSX operating system and CS4 require a different format
for the profiles  (ie. some connection with the Colorsync utiltity?)
In any event, I note your new book on CS4 is out.  Would that deal
    with this issue?

  • Can't recall printer settings dialog from PS Print dialog

I am looking for toubleshooting ideas for my problem - I would like to avoid reinstalling CS at this point.
    Problem:
If I try to print to my remote Epson printer (3880 installed on another Windows 7 computer and accessed as shared printer) and if I click on the Settings button in PS CS4 Print dialog box, I got the following error: "Could not complete your request because an error occurred while printing"
    What I have:
Two computers. One has Epson printer connected through USB, the other prints to it via network. Both are Windows 7 64 bit, latest drivers
    What I found so far:
The printer works fine from LR3 and Illustrator CS 4, only Photoshop fails to print
Other printers, including network printers work fine from Photoshop
This started  to happen after installing CS5 tryout, but I am not positive it this is the cause
The printing worked at some point
If I create PSD file with this Epson printer specified and open it on another computer with PS (which otherwise prints to this printer normally), I get the same error.
    What I did so far:
Reinstalled the printer on the PS machine
    Reset PS preferences file
    Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't remember how I fixed the problem. I think there was some mixup because I used the printer as USB once and via network later. I don't use PS on that PC anymore, but I think I had to use the printer as USB to make it working. I also think the CS5 tryout caused some issues.
    So you can try this:
    - If you use it as networked, try installing the driver again as USB or vice versa
    - If you use CS4 and have CS5 tryout, uninstall CS5
Not sure if it helps, but I don't have anything better, sorry.

  • Reader x 10.1.3 doesn't show print dialog when printing, for some users on Terminal Server

We are running Windows Server 2003 with Terminal Services for approximately 10 remote users.
A few days ago, some users started to complain about not being able to print pdf documents to their printer. I discovered that the print dialog box doesn't open, so they can't even select another printer.
If reader is set to open in browser, it just crashes the browser, if it set to open in Reader itself, it does nothing, no dialog,
I've tried removing the printer and reinstalling. Since it works from the console without issues, I thought it may be permissions related, so I added users to administrators group, with no success.
They can print from Outlook, Word, etc....just not pdfs.
    Can anyone help?

  • Printer Dialog Box in CS4 - Printing Grayscale Images

I hope I'm not duplicating a new topic. I thought I opened this topic yesterday but I don't seem to be able to locate it in this forum. So, I'll try again. This is a pivotal CS4 question re printer set-up for grayscale images with and without b&w profiles.
When setting up print parameters for a Grayscale image in PS CS4 I no longer have the option to select "No Color Management." It seems to be available to RGB images but not grayscale. Which leads to the question as to how I set up print parameters to print grayscale images using Advanced Black & White mode. Can you help?
    Regards,
    King Dexter

As it turns out my original problem has led into a more serious set of color management changes found in CS4. In my case, for instance, I'm finding it difficult to determine the correct way to print untagged, ABW grayscale profiling targets. Others are having similar difficulties with color profiling. Other forums are buzzing as people migrate to PSCS4: Here are just a few examples that hopefully will attract Adobe attention here:
    Excerpt #1:
Sounds like this should be raised in the PS forums where Chris Cox
will pick it up. (I raised the colour mgt issues of Bridge there and
    they picked that up.)
    Excerpt #2:
The deeper explanation going on here has to do with printing interfaces on OS X changing over time. In the past, some printer drivers (notably Canon, with its older iPF series printers) did not interpret the image data appropriately and thus had incorrect driver settings that could not be reset by the user. Photoshop CS3 worked around some of these issues for specific drivers, but did not conform to Apple's OS X specifications for how to pass image data to the print driver, leading to problems elsewhere. With CS4, Adobe has taken the approach of conforming to Apple's latest print driver interface specifications, so CS4 now has the same behavior as LR with regards to printing on OS X.
However, many print drivers have not been updated to conform to the OS X printing interface, and thus some folks are experiencing printing issues, such as double color-management. This is unfortunate, but it really needs to be addressed by the printer drivers.
Now, back to the ABW situation: I don't know if Epson has a glitch with the ABW driver under the latest OS X release. I have occasionally seen what you've seen: i.e., I hit "Print" in PS CS4 and nothing comes out. But then I mess around a little with the Epson printer driver configuration and then it works.
In particular, I found that if I had an older "saved setting" or preset within the Epson driver that I used to recall a particular ABW driver setting, then it would fail. So I deleted all my Epson driver presets and started again from scratch (manually selecting media type, color mode, ABW settings, paper config, etc.) Then I haven't had any trouble printing ABW images since.
    Excerpt #3
I've done some testing of various color management approaches and it is indeed
    confusing.
Here's what I've deduced using CS3 and CS4 with drivers printing stepwedges.
CS3 with No Color Mgmt I consider the "correct" result. The driver gets 21
    evenly stepped values.
With CS4, only Photoshop Manages Color with Print Profile = Working Gray Space
gives the identical results. (assuming grayscale, untagged file).
Printer Manages Color makes a default conversion to Generic Gray Profile which
is a gamma 1.8 profile. If you happen to use GG 1.8 as a working space this conversion may not hurt but if you use GG 2.2 it'll darken the print. I think this has been true in PS for
    several versions.
To make things more complicated OS X 10.5 has a new print dialog pane called
Color Matching which allows you to select Colorsync vs driver based mode and ICC profiles. I
don't know how this will affect things -- I'd leave it alone.
No Color Management is selectable with an RGB file but I just got blank pages
    with this option.
-- QTR definitely received a blank page from the system. This is probably
    related to your
    ABW printing not working.
Note that the CS4 documentation specifically states to use No CM for making
    custom ICC profiles.

  • Print Dialog doesn't retain settings

I am using kPrintActionCmdBoss to print several times from the same document (different layers each time). I want to put up the print dialog the first time, and then keep the user's settings for the subsequent prints. I can see that the settings are remembered by the document:
    IDocument* iDoc = Utils<ILayoutUIUtils>()->GetFrontDocument();
    InterfacePtr<IPrintData> docPrintData(iDoc->GetDocWorkSpace(), UseDefaultIID());
    bool16 debug1 = docPrintData->GetPrintBlankPages();
debug1 is kTrue if I ticked the 'Print Blank Pages' box in the dialog.
I try setting the print command's print data:
    InterfacePtr<ICommand> printActionCmd(CmdUtils::CreateCommand(kPrintActionCmdBoss));
    InterfacePtr<IPrintCmdData> printActionCmdData(printActionCmd, UseDefaultIID());
    printActionCmdData->SetPrintData(docPrintData);
but the print command seems to pay no attention to the settings.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Charles

I also wonder why there is no "print preview" option in the Firefox print dialog box. I don't want a "workaround"—I simply want a print preview option the same way every other Mac application provides it in the print dialog box.
    Where did this go??

  • Printer dialog page doesn't give me landscape/portrait Orientation option

When I try to print something, and bring up the printer dialog window, I no longer have the option of swapping between landscape and portrait.
I used to be able to hit command-P, then select Layout, where I was given a choice between Orientation: a graphic up for Portrait and sideways for Layout.  I would also get a small print preview window where I could see each page formatted.
Now all I get it is a small icon with the digit 1 where the preview used to be, and no Orientation option.  Layout Direction is there, as are other options, but not that one.  And now things only print in Landscape; I can't change print jobs to Portrait.
I deleted (really renamed) my ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist file, and then restarted my application, as I saw that as a suggestion in a different thread, alas no joy.
Background: I'm running Mavericks OS 10.9.1.  I have an old Macbook on the same OS level; it works on that machine.  The screen is failing on the old one so I'm trying to get the new one up & running.  When I bought this new one I tried to clone it using Time Machine but that failed (very long story) so I had to manually copy over User and Library directories to get this one going.  I'm guessing something didn't get copied over right, but regardless I should be able to select this as an option on any print.
To make matters more confusing, it didn't work on ANY app at first, but as I've poked around on it tonight (3-4 hours) it started working on some apps but not others.  I have no idea why.  Weird.
I really need help; I'm desparate!
    Thanks.

So your observations and especially your last question was a very good one.
I checked the old laptop (where it was working) and the print dialog boxes appear to be consistent across machines, but different across applications.  In Safari I do get something closer to what you have, in Firefox (and other apps) it's what I showed.  I could have sworn they all acted the same, I thought that pop-up window was OS-generated, but maybe not.
You're on to something here.  I'm checking how it works with File -> Page Setup now.  It looks like they moved the Orientation option over there rather than in the print dialog box ... depending on exactly what application it is.  That seems to be the case in Firefox at least.
I've got a number of apps to run through and check, and it's real late so I'll have to finish my checking tomorrow.  But this is hopeful.  My tax software is where I first noticed it (IRS forms get truncated when you print them landscape, sigh) but you may have pointed me in the right direction.
Confirmation later, but even so thanks for now!

  • LR 2.1, Tiger 10.4.11: Print doesn't respect choice of printer

    LR 2.1, Tiger 10.4.11
I generally can't print to my Epson R2400 unless I've set it as the default in Printer Setup Utility. If I have my normal default (an OKI C6100DN USB) selected there, LR prints to it regardless of the fact that the R2400 is selected in LR print dialog.
Any fix for this? It means I keep leaving the R2400 on default and burning up paper and ink printing junk jobs to it by mistake.

    John-
This is almost certainly a Mac OS thing, but here's a suggestion: Trash your entire Printers Folder in your Library, then delete all printers from the Printer setup dialog. Reinstall the drivers for those printers.
Good luck. You'll also save over a Gig in HDD space if you have the standard install.

  • Lightroom 3: cannot access color management / print dialog

Whenever I go to print anything in Lightroom 3 (or CS5 for that matter), I cannot access the print / color management settings in the print dialog box. The words are there with black lines through them, with the warning that the bundle doesn't match the architecture - or something like this. I have installed the newest print driver software (Epson 2200, work horse). Help! I have not been able to solve the problem with Adobe either.

After trying to figure this out for weeks, I did find a related post on Lightroom's Facebook page. It is the 64 bit issue. To solve, highlight the application icon, go to "Get Info" dialog box, and click on "open in 32 bit mode". Same applies for CS5.  Good Lord, what a hassle.

  • Scripting Print Dialog and Epson Print Dialog - Consultant Required

I have a project I would like to pay a Scripting  Consultant to develop.
The script should run on Photoshop CS 3 , Mac OS Leopard 10.5.6,
I would like the script to be preferrably in Applescript to link with the Mac OS, but it can be Javascript
    Functionality
    1. The script should  script the settings within the Photoshop print dialog box such as the colour profile
    and colour management options
    2. I would also like the script to control the Epson Print Settings in the Epson print dialog
boxes such as the Page Size/Set Up and Printer settings such as paper type=  Epson Premium Glossy.
    3. Finally I would like  the script to be triggered via a button/palette which floats in Photoshop, so immediately we want to print
a design to a particular Epson printer (we have 4 different Epson printers ) we can click that button and it will
send the print to that printer with the correct profile, media settings, page set up etc
    Notes
I have been told that "Configurator" made be the best application to create these printer buttons.
I have also been told that it may be possible to script the Epson Dialog using information from the Script Listener
As you can tell I am not a scripter but have a clear idea of what is required and am happy to pay for the experitise required here.
If you want to email directly please do so -

    Thanks very much
    Josh

I have been told that "Configurator" made be the best application to create these printer buttons.
    But Configurator is for CS4.
I’m not sure the print-dialog can be Scripted the way You want it; at the company where I work we use a Server-Hotfolder-setup which makes such things easier, as one can simply save separated copies into the respective Folders.
You could also post on http://www.ps-scripts.com/

Macbook Pro and G4 mini Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well, I finally got a chance to look at this problem again.
Sure enough, the g4 mini (that the printer is attached to) has driver 1.4.5 and the macbook pro has 2.0. hp's website doesn't have a more current driver (it just tells you it's included with current OS X releases), but I stuck the macbook pro's install CD into the mini, ran the "install additional software" and installed the hp printer drivers from that disk.
Now the mini can't print to the printer itself. It says it's trying, and then the printer queue just displays "jobs stopped."
Any ideas how to fix it?
    Thanks,

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when selecting print settings in print dialog box

I work on a Mac Pro desktop with OS 10.6.4. Photoshop CS5 crashes every time I try to select "print settings" in the print dialog box. I work in a large office and our networked color printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C451. In fact, if I hit "print" it will crash whether or not I hit "print settings" first. In CS4, there was a separate menu item that allowed you to change printer settings before going into the print dialog box. That choice is gone now, you have to select it through the print dialog box.
This is the only way I can print out color proofs for my clients. Unfortunately, I do not have administrator rights to any printer (our office has about 100 people, only IT staff can fiddle with that). What can I do to get this solved?

I think I have fixed it, though I'm not sure why this worked.
System Preferences>Print & Fax. Selected the Konica Minolta printer (the B/W printer was working fine). Changed the name. Still didn't fix it. Went back selected my newly named Konica Minolta then "Open Print Queue" (like Dave said)>print settings. Change the driver to "Generic Postscript printer." I could print, but only on letter-size paper, no other options available (need tabloid). Went back to system preferences>print & fax>Konica Minolta2>open print queue>drivers then I reselected the updated printer drivers--the same one that hasn't been working.
    Now, it works.
Thanks all for the helpful advice!
