CS4 products adding required Startup items to MSCONFIG

Adobe CS products for Windows install several items in the Startup tab in MSCONIG. As a rule, Startup items are unnecessary and take up RAM and other resources. Until I installed the CS products I had no items checked in the Startup tab which meant my PC started up (and shut down) quickly and only the bare minimum of standard Windows OS programs were running in the background. The Adobe CS install added five items: CS4ServiceManager, AdobeCollabSync, a blank line with no Startup Item name or Command line text (I have submitted a general forum query about that line), Acrotray, Acrobat_sl and Reader_sl. In previous installs Adobe added Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher, Adobe Gamma, Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, and Adobe Reader Synchronizer.
I would prefer that Adobe not add anything to my Startup tab. I don't want any unnecessary programs running in the background. And I don't want any company forcing me to run programs in the background. Note: If you uncheck CS4ServiceManager, AdobeCollabSync or that strange blank line, Adobe CS products will not run. Instead, they will start, an error message (148:3) will appear, and the programs will close.
With this surreptitious Startup program installation, I get the sense that "Big Brother" is watching. Since no other company that I'm aware of adds items to the Startup list that are REQUIRED to run their software, I'm sure Adobe can change it's install routine to not add items to the Startup clutter.

    Is it okay to delete SymSecondaryLaunch from my Log in at startup Items in System Preferences?  I no longer use any Norton products.  I have no clue what SymSecondaryLaunch does but it appears to be related to Symantec.

    You are not required to have any login items so yes, you can safely remove. However some applications will continue to add it's self back until completely uninstalled. You might have to download an install to get an uninstaller.

    It's possible you have other old software that is running parts. Download EtreCheck and paste results here for help troubleshooting.

  • CS4 Production Premium System Requirements?

    We are getting CS4 Production Premium and are trying to figure out how the software interacts with the hardware.  One of the Requirements that adobe list on it site is as follows.
    Dedicated 7200 RPM hard drive for DV and HDV editing; striped disk array storage (RAID 0) for HD; SCSI disk subsystem preferred
    I wanted to know how exactly is the dedicated (I read as second) hard drive utilized.  I have contacted Adobe and they stated that the software uses it as a swap disk when editing large video files and that it was not actually necessary.  This seems odd to me as it is listed as a requirement and not a recommendation.  Does anyone know how the second disk is actually utilized, and if it is as adobe described how do you set it up in the software and is it really no required?

    It was for Adobe Creative Suite 4 - which is what you asked about.
    You should Adobe for further details, but it appears to be a 64 bit application requiring 16GB of RAM!

  • Adding Message Choice Item in a Table Region

    Hi,
    In the Oracle Sales Dashborad page there is a Table Region which shows the list of all the opportunities details like Name,Close Date etc.Now my requirement is to create a new Message Choice item in the table region as a new column(Opportunity Status).I have created that using the personalize feature of that table and have provided the following details
    Picklist View Instance:oracle.apps.asn.opportunity.poplist.server.OpportunityOpenStatusesVO
    Picklist Value Attribute:StatusCode
    Picklist Display Attribute:Meaning
    View Instance:OpptySearchVO1
    View Attribute:OpptyStatusName
    When the dashboard page loads it shows all other fields as fetched from the Database apart from this newly added Message Choice item.For all the rows this field shows blanc values.
    Is it because the Display value(Meaning) and the value gets stored in the DB(StatusCode) are Different for this message choice item?Please help me out to resolve this issue.
    If i need to populate each row for this message item explicitly how can i get handle of this message choice item(in the Table region) for each row and then set the value dynamically?
    Thanks
    Subha

  • Populating the custom filed - added in BOM item.

    Hello Friends,
    I have a requirement like, for the custom field added in BOM item data, it should come filled while executing the CS02/CS03/CS12/CS73....transactions.
    I have added a field which is one of the field from MARA table. what I have to do is to pass the MARA record into the custom field added based on IDNRK.
    This should happen as soon as enter button is pressed after entering material, plant, bom usage value.
    Please let me know if any exit is there wherein I can put the code OR if any other way!
    Thanks.

    i have solved this issue by doing some R&D.

  • Adding a new item to an already existing BOM

    Hi,
        I am having a problem adding a new item to an already existing parent BOM.I excute the following code (as per the SDK).
        Dim vProdTree As SAPbobsCOM.ProductTrees
        Set vProdTree = vCmp.GetBusinessObject(oProductTrees)
        'Set Values to the fields
        vProdTree.TreeCode = "Item1"
        vProdTree.TreeType = iProductionTree
        'Set Values to the Assembly parts of the
        'First Assembly
        vProdTree.Items.ItemCode = Excel.Row(Cell1)
        vProdTree.Items.Price = 20
        vProdTree.Items.Quantity = 1
        vProdTree.Items.Currency = "Eur"
        'Adding the Product Tree
        RetVal = vProdTree.Add
        If (RetVal <> 0) Then
            vCmp.GetLastError ErrCode, ErrMsg
            MsgBox ErrCode & " " & ErrMsg
        End If
    If there is no parent BOM production tree with keycode Item1, then when the above code is run for the first time, it works.The issue occurs when I run change my excel, Cell1 to a different value and run the program again. The error states that the code already exists, which is correct, but does not  append the item to the existing BOM.
    I have tried vProdTree.Update, but this line overwrites the original child item in the BOM, rather than appending a new item, which is what I want it to do.
    Any  help is appreciated.
    - Adrian.V

    Your issue here is how the "Items" (which is actually pointing to ProductTree_Lines object) works. It is a List of items, and when you get the object is always pointing at the first item in the list.
    So for example, to add a BOM with two items you would need to set the details of the first Item and then add a line using vProdTree.Items.Add() before setting the values for that item.
    e.g.:
    Dim vProdTree As SAPbobsCOM.ProductTrees
    Set vProdTree = vCmp.GetBusinessObject(oProductTrees)
    'Set Values to the fields
    vProdTree.TreeCode = "Item1"
    vProdTree.TreeType = iProductionTree
    'Set Values to the Assembly parts of the
    'First Assembly
    vProdTree.Items.ItemCode = Excel.Row(Cell1)
    vProdTree.Items.Price = 20
    vProdTree.Items.Quantity = 1
    vProdTree.Items.Currency = "Eur"
    'Add a second item to the BOM
    vProdTree.Items.Add
    vProdTree.Items.ItemCode = Excel.Row(Cell2)
    vProdTree.Items.Price = 50
    vProdTree.Items.Quantity = 1
    vProdTree.Items.Currency = "Eur"
    'Adding the Product Tree
    RetVal = vProdTree.Add
    If (RetVal 0) Then
    vCmp.GetLastError ErrCode, ErrMsg
    MsgBox ErrCode & " " & ErrMsg
    End If
    To do what you want to do, which is get the BOM and add a new item to it, you will need to do this:
    Dim vProdTree As SAPbobsCOM.ProductTrees
    Set vProdTree = vCmp.GetBusinessObject(oProductTrees)
    'Get your BOM by key
    vProdTree.GetByKey("Item1")
    'Add a second item to the BOM
    'First Item exists so you need to add a new row
    vProdTree.Items.Add
    vProdTree.Items.ItemCode = Excel.Row(Cell1)
    vProdTree.Items.Price = 50
    vProdTree.Items.Quantity = 1
    vProdTree.Items.Currency = "Eur"
    'Update the Product Tree
    RetVal = vProdTree.Update
    If (RetVal 0) Then
    vCmp.GetLastError ErrCode, ErrMsg
    MsgBox ErrCode & " " & ErrMsg
    End If
    Method one allows you to add multiple lines as you add the object (which makes more sense), method 2 allows you to get the object after it has been added and add multiple lines to it. This is similar to how the Document_Lines object works.

    Add more RAM or cut back on concurrent applications. Startup Item is irrelevant.
    Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

  • Adding new line item in SC after it is added to PR or PO

    Hi Experts,
    Our customer wants that if line item is added to PR and PO on ECC side, it should be added to SC as well. I am sure you can't change apporved SC for which follow on document is created. But if someone did similar kind of requirement.
    Here is requirement.
    >  SC has 2 line items.
    >  PR is created in ECC for 2 line items after SC is apporved.
    > User added 3rd line item in PR on ECC side.
    > Customer wants this line item should be added to SC as well.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Kamal

    Hi,
    In Classic Scenario: This is not possible .when you are adding a P.O in ECC it will not reflect in
    SRM.
    In Extended Classic scenario: In SRM  only P.O is  created .You can add a new line items (or) change
    because P.O in SRM Server is the main P.O.
    Moreover in this also Shopping cart will not update. Once Shopping cart is approved you can do any changes
    Please check which scenario your client is using.

  • New Material to be added for Original Item

    Hi,
    We are trying to make the system add new material when certain item is added in the order.
    Actually we are breaking a kit component and trying to sell the component as a separate item. So when the above Kit is added without this item, sap should add the material as next line item.
    I don't want to create BOM. I don't want to give it for free. The above one has kit item category. And the new subitem should be TAN.
    I tried material determination (changing the reason). Did not work. The item cat is chaning.
    I checked cross selling, product proposal,etc. They look extra features which I don't want.
    I just want SAP to add new item when one particular item is added.
    Any thoughts???
    Thanks,
    Rak

    Actually for TAN to TAN is working. Thanks for the message.
    But I have a Kit (it has parent and components). We have item cat ZPRC for header and ZPRK for components.
    We initially put 10 components together and creating for Parent with item cat ZPRC (header)
    So when we put parent material number, all the ten compnents with ZPRK item cat will default.
    But now we are removing one compnents from the 10 compnents and want to give as a separate TAN item.
    So when Parent ZPRC material number is put in the Order, 9 components will default with ZPRK and the last item should default as TAN
    So I am using Material determination for this. But it is not working
    I used Order, ZKIT (item cat for Kit header), PSA1 (usage), ZPRC (header kit)
    Order, Norm, PSA2 (usage), ZPRC (higher level item cat), TAN.
    But when I create Order, only 9 compnenets are coming. Its not recognizing my Material determination. I checked the records and ZPRC and TAN record exists.
    I feel like as there is already higher level and lower level items exists in the system, ZRPC and ZPRK, its not defaulting another higher level and lower level Material det logic.
    Please help

  • How to create production order for multiple items having common raw materia

    Dear all,
    We are running a sheet metal fabrication company at Vadodara Gujrat.
    Please guide us how to create single production order for multiple items using single raw material??
    For example, We want to produce baby shirt(item code AAA001), shirt with full sleeve(item code AAA002), shirt with half sleeve(item code AAA003),shirt slim fit (item code AAA004),shirt loose fit(item code AAA005) from single raw material say(item code XXX001).
    Right now we have to create 5 production order to produce above 5 items of single sales order  in SAP B1 though it is made from single raw material which is foolishness and time consuming too. (Please also note that to produce any finfish good item, raw material required for that item may vary every time in our process.)
    Kindly guide us how to solve the problem.
    Thanks.

  • Unix Command Disabled in Startup Items

    I have a MaXtor One Touch II. After installing the software, during the Restart, Mac advised me that the security settings for an unknown (to me) file needed to be fixed or disabled. I disabled it and have now realised it was a UNIX command to watch the One Touch button. I found the file using System Profiler and it lies domant in the Startup Items.
    How do I enable it again?

    I don't know what mechanism is used to disable the "StartupItem" in this situation, but I have read that one way is by creating an invisible ".disabled" file in the top level of a given startup item's folder. If this is the case here, there are a few ways to get rid of the item but since there aren't a lot of details in your post, I'll suggest a generic method. Try opening "/Applications" > "AppleScript" > "Script Editor.app", paste these lines, and click "Run":<pre>set theItem to (choose folder default location path to startup items)
    set ppath to quoted form of (POSIX path of theItem & ".disabled")
    do shell script "mv " & ppath & " ~/.Trash" with administrator privileges</pre>Choose the folder corresponding to the specific startup that is to be enabled, and provide the "admin" username and password at the prompt. If the "startup item" has been disabled by another method, the script won't find a ".disabled" file so it should just fail harmlessly.
    However, there have been issues with other third party startup items being improperly programmed so that they required incorrect permissions in order to function. If this is the case, the "security settings" dialogue may continue to appear, despite choosing the "fix" option. If that happens, check the Maxtor website for updated software.

  • Window Clock Listed 4 Times in Startup Items

    Hello, all!
    On the job I work on a Mac running 10.3.9, and I have an odd little question. Everything runs fine, but I was curious about this.
    In my System Preferences I have the Date & Time control panel set to show the Date and Time, view in window, view as digital. This places a handy little date calendar on the screen that I can always have displayed in a window that I can move around as I please.
    I have two monitors hooked up to the Mac. I large main display where I do my main work, and than a smaller "slave" monitor where I position my application pallettes and programs I leave open all the time. It is there that I position the WindowClock.
    The odd thing is that when I check the Startup Items in the Accounts Control Panel the WindowClock is listed 4 times.
    I'm wondering if it's safe to delete 3 of them.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   My first Mac was a IIcx. Those were the days!

    Hi rngman
    I just tried your setup and put the clock on the desktop - its quite good isn't it - and then did a restart - got to test these things out - and it was where I left it in the desktop, and no it wasn't added to the Start-up items, and nor it should have been.
    So you could strike all four of them out, and you would still be OK.

  • Premiere pro cs4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences

    Premiere Pro CS4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences so that when I import them into Encore an extra, black frame plays at the end. In the program monitor my sequences stop at the frame I have set the sequence to end at but the counter on the bottom right of the program monitor shows that an extra frame has been added. This duration, not the duration I have set for my sequence, is what Premiere Pro is importing into Encore. I have spoken to Adobe technical help and the representative was having the same issue but she could not resove it. Help! Thank you!

    Hello Wil.
    For various reasons, I always add Black Video to the end of my Sequences, to allow for any extra Audio Units. As I also Export DD 5.1 SS, I allow 02 sec. of Black Video at the beginning, to allow set-top players time to "lock onto" the DD 5.1 SS Audio Track. Many high-end units require this extra time at the beginning, too.
    Good luck to the OP,

  • Startup Items with Terminal

    Hello.
    Is it possible to place files into a users startup items via the Terminal? I have a need to write some UNIX scripts to configure systems, and this is part of the config. The items are Flash files which need to run when the machine logs into a specific account.
    Thanks, A.

    Yann Bizeul wrote:
    This is not done using startup items, account specific actions are configured more easily using Accounts preference pane, by tweaking Startup tab.
    Actually, it is called the *Login Items* tab. Anything that can be configured as an application can be added to run at login time. One way to do what the OP wants is to wrap the code in an AppleScript saved as an application using the "do shell script" Applescript command, allowing some pre or post processing in the script, or calling a series of shell scripts if desired. Or for more elaborate, interactive processing with easy access to the Mac GUI, it can all be made into an AppleScript Studio project.
