CS4 Sb Startup Error: dvaui.dll

I am revisiting this issue since I had used an alternative program from what I bought to cover until this problem could be addressed again.
I own the MC of CS4, have installed everything from the libraries and tutorials to all the programs and help packages.  Upon starting up SB, I get the following error..
The procedure entry point
?UpdateDialogSizes@UI_PagedDialog@dialogs@dvaui@@QAEXXZ
could not be located in the dynamic link lirbary dvaui.dll.
After reading a few posts tonight, I tried a method for a similar issue, which said to use the Media Encoder, run the update scan, and I found and installed 192MB of additional updates.  I still however get the error the instant I try and launch SB.
For previous attempts, I have reinstalled a good 3-4 times with reboots at each stage, as well as having run the repair tool but with no results.

I'm not entirely clear on the symptoms as you've described, and I've only found one other reference to someone experiencing this issue, at http://forum.zebulon.fr/trojan-point-d-entree-introuvable-t177177.html  (My French is lacking, but I gather it's much the same problem.)
First, I would suggest not reinstalling the suite any further for now.  Not only is it has it not been helping, but I know how long the CS4 Master Collection takes to install and I would not wish that upon you any more than is necessary.  Also, continually installing/reinstalling applications can often make for more problems.
Second, what is the other application you're having trouble with, and what is the problem or error message there?  It's possible the issues are related as Soundbooth shares a lot of libraries and components with Premiere, Encore, and After Effects. [edited: I just realized you referred to After Effects having a similar problem in dvacore.dll.  What is the error message there?]
The error message appears to be calling a function in the UI library that is not found.  There are several reasons that this might occur, though it's rarely possible to determine the cause from the error message alone.
Try the following and see if you receive any different results:
* Right-click on Adobe Soundbooth CS4.exe and choose Properties, then Compatibility.  Try enabling "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Vista (Service Pack 2)"  and possibly also enable "Run as administrator" from the same dialog.
* In Windows Explorer, navigate to  C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Soundbooth\2.0\  and delete the contents of that folder.

    I click on OK and CS3 starts, but with differences. Seems some of the
    windows on the right are missing now. Bridge still runs fine, I can edit
    RAW files from Bridge to ACR4.5, then open from that into Photoshop, then
    convert and save the files. I don't seem to have a Layers palette now or a
    Tool Options palette.
    I had just gone through and uninstalled a number of old applications. None
    were Adobe programs though. Immediately after doing that, this error
    started.
    I found MFC71.DLL, but putting it in the Photoshop installation folder
    didn't help. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Hopefully without
    re-installing CS3. I have also just discovered that my DVD rewriter will
    not recognize the CS3 DVD, so doing a reinstall from the disk will require a
    new DVD drive first.
    The Adobe updater works and I updated PS to 10.01, and still get that
    startup error and have missing palettes.

    It belongs in the Windows\system32 folder.
    I also have copies in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater and C:\Program Files\Adobe\CS3\Acrobat 8.0\Designer 8.0
    All of the copies I found are version 7.10.3077.0

    The computer exceeds the prerequisites list and error returns after a week after it is re-installed.

    Running a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 2342 Core i5 3210M, Windows 7 SP1  64 bit laptop with 2500 MHz i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 200+GB available HDD space, Intel HD Graphics 4000 video card, DVD rom. The last time it gave the error I uninstalled, ran the cleaner, ran Windows updates and re-installed. The error returned in about a week later.

    Did you uninstall Bonjour from the PC? Airport software uses Bonjour, and it looks like your Airport base station agent is complaining about the missing Bonjour (dnssd.dll is a Bonjour file).
    Is your Mom going to be using the Airport capabilities of the laptop? If not, it might be easiest just to uninstall the Airport utility and/or other related Airport software.

  • MAX error, niGPIBsys.dll plug-in caused an exception

    Trying to connect to hardware via the local network to send ASCII strings. I can ping the static IP address successfully, but can't get anything from it in LabVIEW.
    VISA resource at the moment is TCPIP0::xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx::INSTR, which I think is right.
    MAX returns this error on startup:
    The niGPIBsys.dll plug-in caused an exception in the CmxSysExpertManager::FinalizeExpert function in the NIMax process.

    Sorry, I'm confused myself.
    LabVIEW communication with one instrument works when I manually entered TCPIP0::xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx::INSTR, so over the local network. It also worked when I connected it to my computer with a USB cable because the USB::<something> option came up in the drop down list of the VISA resource name panel straight away.
    With the other instrument, it has both USB and ethernet sockets, I couldn't get a response using the same TCPIP format as above, even though I know the IP address (and I tried all combinations of w/ wout/ INSTR) and I could ping it. Haven't been able to plug it into anything with USB directly as I can't get a computer near it at the moment. Tried LabVIEW's VISA serial read write example programme... does that not make sense then? I got error -1073807343.
    So I tried to use MAX according to tutorials and encountered the above problems. I suspect the MAX problem is seperate to my VISA connection problems. Can MAX not be used to find and configure connections both USB (is this the same as GPIB?) and TCPIP?

    I have the same issue after installing the new update and reinstalling iTunes doesn't fix the issue.
    I found disabling Apple push (APSDaemon.exe) from the start up will stop the error from appearing, however this will disable wireless syncing. If you don't use it than it shouldn't be an issue.
    I'm using a PC so you can disable it using the msconfig command and turning it off in the Startup tab. I don't know if Mac users are experiencing the same issue. Hopefully Apple will fix it in their next update.

    I installed Premiere Elements 10 last night in order to edit some Quicktime files.
    I have the old CS2 Pro Version on my machine, but editing HD Quicktimes is just a nightmare. So I thought I give Elements a try and see how well it works.
    Downloaded the Trial Version and installed it.
    No Problems with the installation, at least no errors were reported.
    Now I want to try it out and after the splash screen I click on "New Project" and that entry point error pops up.

    Can't do anything. The only thing I can run from the start up window is the "Organize".

    I'm still able to run my Adobe Premiere CS2 Pro just fine.
    So I really appreciate any help. Would like to see how well I can edit those Quicktime files.

    Hi Steve,
    the videos come mainly from my D7000. I think it's the H264 compression that makes it hard to edit in my Premiere Version.
    I mean it reads the files and I can edit them, but sound and video aren't playing back in sync so a bit hard to actually edit them.
    As far as resolution, I'm looking at FullHD and/or 720p

    Seems to be a problem with exe4j. Ask your friend to deploy a platform independent version of his program as well.

  • Updated to Premiere CC 2014 - Now getting Startup Error - Could not find any capable video play modules

    I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB.
    Ever since the Premiere CC 2014 update, on launch, I get this error right after it shows "ExporterQuickTimeHost.bundle" loading (I tried removing this, but it still did it, so I don't think it has anything to do with the QuickTime plugin):
    Adobe Premiere Pro Startup  Error
    Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again.
    I never got this in the CC version. I have the latest CUDA driver: version 6.0.46  &  GPU Driver: version 8.26.21 310.40.35f08
    The computer is unusable for about 4-5 mins after this happens until it all clears up. This whole process takes up 7-8 mins!
    This same thing also happens with Prelude CC 2014.
    If anyone knows what's going on I would be very grateful.

    I found a solution that worked for me. Seems to be a permissions problem. Here's the solution I found (found it here: CC 2014 startup issues : Adobe Premiere Pro):
    In the finder menu click and hold on the GO menu. Hold the option button and the User library will show up. Click the User Library.
    In that folder go to preferences and find the adobe folder.
    Right click on adobe folder and click get info.
    In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
    All should say Read & Write next to them.
    Unlock the lock, switch them all to read and write.
    Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "apply to enclosed items.
    Then lock the lock again.
    Now go to your OS Hardrive and click on Users, your user name, Documents.
    Find the adobe folder there.
    Right click on adobe folder and click get info.
    In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
    All should say Read & Write next to them.
    Unlock the lock, switch them all to read and write.
    Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "apply to enclosed items.
    The lock the lock again.
    Wait 1 minute. Then launch Premiere.
    This fixed it for me.

    i get the error mcvcr80.dll was not found

    Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Soa suite 10.1.3.1 bpel startup error

    I installed the soa suite 10.1.3.1 on Linux with Java 1.5.0-12. First I did a Advanced install. Everything was fine except, I used to get a:
    Failed to read WSDL from http://localhost:port/orabpel/default/TaskActionHandler/1.0/TaskActionHandler?wsdl: HTTP connection error code is 500 for any BPEL process (Even the hello world). Then I undeployed that version and deployed a 'Basic' install. Still I get the same error in the console.     thanks for the tip. applied the patch. but didn't help. it is just a no class def found error. How hard can it be to make it find the class it wants (as long as i get to know what class it wants!)

  • Illustrator CS6 64-bit dvaui.dll and msvcr100.dll crashing problem, any solution?

    First things first, trying to find a tech support Email address or phone number has been infuriating.  The "3-step support wizard" which results in "go to the forums" is also infuriating and insulting.
    I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC running CS6 64-bit (updated/current), and it's crashing at random (2-3 times per day).  I see events recorded in the event log showing dvaui.dll and msvcr100.dll as the source.  Other people have raised this as an issue, and all I see are guesses.  Does Adobe have a credible solution for this yet?
    I've tried running as a domain admin, which did not help.
    Illustrator CS6 32-bit seems to be working perfectly (4 days straight, no crashing).
    It seems to currently affect only one computer (5 others are fine).  It's not repeatable, and has no discernible cause.
    Also, format and reinstall is neither a solution nor an option.
    To be honest, I'm looking for Adobe to address this directly: do you know why this is happening, and how long until it is solved?  If an Adobe tech support will open a case, I have a file that the designer (I'm not the designer) was using during one of the crashes.  I don't know if the crashing will be related (to the file), but I have the file just in case.

    I have copied and re-registered the DLL files from a known-good machine (that is to say that the machine doesn't exhibit any of the symptoms as the above machine), which did not help.
    I'm really interested in having Adobe respond directly to this issue.  I know they are aware of it.
    It's clear that Adobe doesn't actually want to support this program, but people rely on it for their economic success.  Both my client and his employees need this program to function properly and reliably, and I think anyone would agree that it's reasonable to expect that a problem like this (that affects more than just us) be, at a minimum, addressed.  Adobe has my client's money, they had no problem accepting it.  With that acceptance comes a duty to be responsive.
