CS4- Selected Gradient changes on it own
I only use one gradient, foreground color to transparent. Yet, every time I go to use the gradient tool, there are solid colors in my gradient window and neither is the current foreground color. I don't know where CS4 is getting these colors from and I wish it would stop. If I selected the one style, it needs to stay on that gradient style until I select something else.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature-if it's a new feature I want to turn it off. It's getting the colors from somewhere instead of what I select.
I select my foreground to transparent gradient style from the top tool bar, and everything works as should. I can go from tool and tool and back and selected gradients style is the last selected gradient. However, new to CS4 ( I came from CS2) when I select ANY color in the blending options window, those colors then populate the gradient! So it's taking selected colors from a gradient done in the blending options window and making that my gradient selection for the gradient tool.
That is new and interrupts my work flow because I have to constantly select the gradient to transparent style whenever I select the gradient tool now. Before the gradient tool had it's own selected gradient style and was not pulling from the gradient done through the blending options window. It's very annoying.

Bug in InDesign CS4: Undoing Gradient Change Requires Extraneous Undo
Create a shape with a gradient fill.
With the shape selected, drag a color swatch to the gradient bar to add an color to the gradient. The gradient fill of the shape is appropriately updated.
Hit undo. The shape now inexplicably has a solid fill of the color of the swatch you previously added to the gradient.
An additional undo is required to get back to the original gradient.This is highly unusual. InDesign continuously saves a backup on its own. It is not like autosave in QXP. You do something... it saves a backup. There isn't an autosave setting that you directly fiddle with.
Look at your Preferences > File Handling > Document Recovery Data to find the location where it saves a backup copy.
I think it may be possible that you have some OS issues like maybe permissions problems. Since you describe a new machine and a new install; maybe it was not well-oiled and broken in yet.
My chicken-soup approach is to run Disk Utilities > Repair Permissions. It couldn't hurt to try that. You weren't running the file at distance across a network, were you? While some have no problem with that; many will experience problems. I always strive to work on the local disk volume.
There is no reason to try to click on the .idlk file. That so-called Lock file is a network WebDav gadget that doesn't allow someone else to open the file you are working on. It is not an InDesign file. It is not your backup file, either.

Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open and close WinDVD or Winfast
Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open these programs, and when they're closed the main volume resets to where it was before the program was opened.
Surely I'm not the only one who has had this problem before.. I've had the problem with both Creative soundcards I've owned, before and after different drivers installations.
It can be very irritating and can potentially lead to damaged speakers if I'm not paying close attention to what my various volume knobs are set at before and after I open these programs.

The salesperson for my iphone 4 said on Christmas morning we could go to our online account, select my number, select to change my SIM card, and enter the ICCID number so that I'd be able to use my iphone 4 today instead of my old phone (not an iphone). I have not seen any such steps. Help?
I suspect the salesperson that told you that meant your online account with your carrier...have you tried logging into your carrier account online? To do this will require the sim number on your sim card, as well as the phone's IMEI number...you get the sim number off the sim card & the IMEI number, for the phone, is printed on the box.

iPad IOS 7.0.2 and Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Calendar colors do not match between computer and device. Problem did not exist until updated IOS arrived. Colours change of their own free will despite being corrected on both iPAD and MacBook Pro. Any answers?

Go to your hard drive, enter library, go into users, and go into launch agents and delete the thing above. Empty the trash and restart. -
This was happening all the time on my old 2006 iMac, and I thought that when I upgraded to a new computer it would go away. No such luck.
Sometimes the program works just fine, and other times I have this error. I haven't been able to pinpoint what is causing it.
Basically what happens is, I will try to type a number in the box to edit the size of the image (or sharpness, etc. something that requires you to enter a number), and as soon as my mouse hovers over the box, the numbers start changing on their own. As soon as I move the mouse away, the problem stops, but of course this means that I am unable to type in the number that I want.
I've tried unplugging my mouse and keyboard - that doesn't change anything.
Has anyone run into this issue before?
Btw, I use a 2013 iMac, OS version 10.9.5
(I have a video clip of this problem, but I don't know how to share it here)Your task is hardly a case for Photoshop: replacing text accurately in a scanned, not even
straightened image.
My recommendations:
a) put a crossreference list on each page
or
b) straighten the scans and improve the contrast, both by Photoshop.
Then apply a program which converts images of text into machine coded text
by OCR - Optical Character Recognition , for instance Abbyy Finereader

In coded text it's easy to replace isolated character groups as required.

Set Radio Group Default Value Based on a Select List Change Event

I have a radio group that is source is below. It returns 3 radio group item All,Miv,Courier

The radio group is only populated when :P320_DEPOT gets a value, this is a select list.
I am trying to set the radio group to default to this value Miv it would use the statement

and type ='Miv'
ORDER BY 1
I have tried creating a dynamic action on Select list change to populate the default value of the radio group...no joy I also tried a computation. how can I set this default value on when list changed.

I have got the default Radio Group Selection working by doing a computation before region on the radio group and calling its select statement and setting the value. But the problem is now I cannot change the radtio group as I do it fire the before region trigger and sets it back to the default value....any help?Hi,

Preferences changing on their own
Preferences for applications and the sleep mode seem to be changing on their own. What am I looking for and how do I repair it?

It seems like 2 unrelated issues, if you did not attempt to rename your home folder?
For Sleep try trashing these prefs:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com.apple.AutoWake.plist
The second sounds like LaunchServices:
Launch Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line:

JFileChooser selected file changes when folder chages
Problem with JFileChooser,
The selected filename change when i change the directories, note that standard windows dialog doesnt behave like this .
To reproduce: choose "save to file" in process dialog, enter the file name and then change the directory. The file name disappers from the corresponding box. The dialog must keep the entered file name while changing the folder path

How can I selectively preview changes in Camera Raw CC
When working in the Basic Panel in ACR, I would like to selectively review changes of only one slider at a time. For instance, I have have adjusted exposure and now have also adjusted blacks, how can I preview the change in Blacks while the adjusted Exposure is still in effect? If I toggle the Preview button on and off, I see all the changes cumulatively. I have tried using the command key, shift, key and option key however, that doesn't seem to work.
Thanks.Sorry, there is another way, which I'd forgotten about, because I almost never use it.
Say you make these edits, and only these edits: Exposure -1.0 stop, Contrast +20 and Shadows +100, in that order (the values don't matter, they're just random examples).
Now, to cycle back through the edits in reverse order to that which you made them, use Ctrl + Alt/Option + Z.
Pressing once gets you back to the image as edited only by Exp and Contrast. Twice gets to Exp only.
Three times eliminates Exp and you're back to where you first opened the image in ACR.
To re-instate the edits in the original order, press Ctrl + Shift + Z.
But this procedure can get messy and confusing in 3 circumstances that I can think of, just off the top of my head.
First, if you move a slider whilst experimenting with your edits (say, for example, Clarity +20) but then reset it to zero because it does not work as expected.
Now, when you cycle backwards or forward, your abandoned Clarity edit will be shown.
Secondly, if you make more than 3 edits, it can become difficult to remember in what order you initially made them and you can get lost when cycling back and forth.
Thirdly, if you have made any presets and these are applied automatically when first opening the image in ACR, the cycling can once again become more difficult to keep track of.
Whilst the use of Snapshots in the manner I first suggested is more cumbersome, it guarantees that you can keep track of your edits and compare their before and after effect.

How to select and change special characters
Hi all,
In my document wherever a, e, i, o, u comes in RED color that i want to add one black dot below that characters.
Now what we do is place one dot then use baseline shift after that use kerning upto 400 like that only.
Job font is Palatino Lt Std.
Its time consuming a lot!!!
Write now i am using GREP options only.

Myself creating script for wherever RED color comes it create a character style after that i did it manually without seeing the Manuscript.

Why are my gradients changing when I save as an .svg?
Occasionally when I save to .svg in Illustrator CS5, my gradient changes colors from color-to-color, to color-to-white!
This never happened in CS3. This also happens sometimes when I past as a smart object into a Photoshop document! GERRRRRRRR!!!!!

you are completely correct. I think the issue was due to some strange document settings carried over from CS3. I ended up trashing those files and pasting into fresh CS5 documents, which corrected the issue. However I can't reproduce the issue now

When I select Brush, changing the exposure changes the whole image exposure
When I select Brush, changing the exposure supposed to change only the selected part exposure.
In my LR-5 it changes the whole image exposure. What am I doing wrong?More than likely you have all the adjustment tool's sliders hidden, and you've thus moved the exposure slider from the Basic panel just below, which of course is a global adjustment. Check the dark arrow that I've highlighted in this screenshot, it's likely pointed left (everything hidden), so click on it and it will point down and all the adjustment brush sliders will be revealed.
