CS4 Silent Deployment

i've read the Adobe CS 4 Enterprise Manual Deployment Guide.
however, i was able to deploy CS 4 ONLY if the installation files (created by combining all files on all discs) are stored locally on the client computer.
that means the files have to be copied twice, once from server to the client computer, and once more during the installation process.
what i want to do is to be able to save the files in a dmg file on our server, and mount the disk image on the client computer and simply install from there.
but i've run into some problems with that.
is there a walkaround to this so i don't have to copy the files twice?
thanks.

a little bit more information from my part.
after building a folder for the installation files, i was able to deploy CS 4 successfully on a client computer with all files stored locally.
i then package the folder into a dmg file and put it on the server.
i then test the installation process again by mounting the dmg file and running the installer, then i was give a "Invalid serial number" error.
i double checked the xml file, the serial number is correct.
i then copy all the files from the dmg onto the local hard drive and install again without making any change, it then installed fine.
on the Deployment Guide it says that the installer can be run from a dmg file stored on any local network.
but it's not working for me.
any suggestion?
thanks.

  • CS 5.5 Silent deployment Errors

    Hi,
    I have built a Silent deployment installer for CS 5.5 using "Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition".  The Core CS Application installs fine, but there is a problem with the Exception installs for Dreamweaver Widget Browser and Adobe Content Viewer.  When deployed, the deployment logs are coming back with the error "error code 7(The storage control blocks were destroyed)"
    I am using the command lines provided in the exceptions.txt file.  Everything I have found in Adobe support relating to en error code 7 has said to repair the Windows Installer.  This will not be the case here as my test environment are Windows 7 32-bit Base Image (clean state) computers with no other software installed.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the responses.  Just a quick update as things have changed a bit.
    I first tried the Adobe Support Advisor.  It only displayed 3 errors, all relating to RAW Camera etc for Photoshop.  The interesting thing is that solution in the KB articles relating to those errors say that I am trying to install CS 4 over CS5...which I'm not....anywho, that doesn't really matter right now.
    I had already used the deployment guide when I built the original package, but I went through it again to make sure I didn't miss anything.
    Long story short, I think I have narrowed it down to it NOT being a CS 5.5 issue, but an AIR issue instead.  I Re-imaged a computer to a clean state and deployed nothing but AIR to it (no CS 5).  I then tried to deploy the Widget Browser via sccm and it again gets the "Storage Blocks Were Destroyed" error in the SCCM logs.  I downloaded an updated version of AIR and fresh copy of WidgetBrowser.air and got the same result.
    I will continue on this sometime next week.  If there are further ideas that may help that would be great!
    Thanks

  • Adobe CS3 Silent Deployment - Win7 x64

    Hello,
    I'm trying to silently deploy Adobe CS3 Web Premium to our Win7 x64 machines.  I've deployed it to XP machines in the past successfully but I keep getting errors now.  I've utilized the '--record=1' option and also successfully created the 'application.xml.override' file and placed it into the right folder.  When I go to run the silent install it fails after a minute with an 'exit code 7.' Looking at the installer log it says:
    FATAL
    Exception: Payload deployment data is invalid or missing
    Exit code: 7
    My command is: "%~dp0Setup.exe" --mode=silent -–deploymentFile="%~dp0deployment\install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
    I've run the install manually and it succeeds except for one pop-up requesting 'AdobePDF.dll'

    I am working in the biggest library in Alaska and am in the same boat as everyone else i found the orignal document for Deploying Adobe Digital Editions 1.7 But i would love to know if there is a supported command line parameter to trigger the migrate.exe and a parameter for doing an uninstall of 1.7
    Right now i am looking at having to run the uninstaller for 1.7 and wipe out any books related to adobe digital editions and download them again. Thankfully these are for our public use terminals and not our faculitie machines as that would not be an option.

  • Silent Deployment for RemoteApp and Desktop Connections 2012r2 / Windows 7 Clients

    Hi,
      Currently working on a project of upgrading our current 2008r2 RDS environment to 2012r2 RDS.   For the love of all things digital, there seems to be an all out complete mystery about how to properly setup RDS 2012r2, to silently deploy
    to windows 7 Pro clients.  We have been trying many different methods found on the web, but all seem to point to 2008r2 RDS.  Basically seems like Microsoft created this product without having any of their support staff educated on supporting it.
    If anyone out there has a solution, please share.  If anyone out there knows of a published book over RDS 2012r2, please advise....
    thanks so much for all help...
    P.S.  Technet, please don't mark this tick answered, until it is actually answered....thanks.

    Does anyone out there have any solid instructions on how to configure Silent deployment of RemoteApp and Desktop Connections 2012r2 to windows 7 clients.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi James,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    The code which is provide from that sites is the one which used for .wcx file. Please check the full steps from below thread where answered by TP and other link for some more useful information.
    A. Windows Server 2012 R2 RemoteApp Deployment
    B. Deploying RemoteApp From Server 2012 to Windows
    7 Clients
    Finally if you still have any issue then you can find the Event log under “Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> RemoteApp and Desktop Connections” and see whether there is any useful information for this particular issue.
    Hope it helps!

  • CS4 Installation/Deployment Problem

    Hello All,
    I am new to the forum so I want to thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide.
    I have been given the task of deploying CS4 Enterprise to our organization.  Using the process described in the CS4 Deployment guide I made install.xml and uninstall.xml files for all of the applications in the suite.
    I can install any one application using the deploymentFile in silent mode.  (Been doing it from command line for testing).  Anyway, once one app is successfully installed on any given machine, I will always get an Error and an Exit Code of 7 when trying to install any subsequent CS4 application.
    Hoping to figure out what was going on I ran it again without the --mode=Silent switch and found that the problem is not with the xml.override file, as eula is suppressed and the serial key is being added automatically.  The problem is that it seems like the installer is ignoring the install.xml deployment file, as I am being prompted to pick which applications I wish to install from the custom install menu.  Obviously this is what is causing the interruption to the silent workflow.
    Has anyone ever experienced this?  I can't figure it out.  Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    mb

    I'm also having issues with Design Standard and getting the same exit code 7.
    We have a bunch of people using the seperate CS products and I've managed to sucessfully set them up but the Design Studio and Web Permium installs seem to be causing me some issues.
    Can you please post a step-by-step of what you did for the Design Standard install?
    I've run through the install using --record and created the insta.xml and remove.xml files.
    I've created the override file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration>
    <Payload>
    <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="EULA">-1</Data>
    <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload>
    </Configuration>
    An placed it in the payloads\AdobeDesignSuiteStandard4-mul folder and run the correct install command.
    \\serverpath\setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile=\\serverpath\install.xml
    Things seem to be kicking off the install fine then just stop after about 4-6 minutes with the exist code 7.
    My install command line uses UNC paths, is this likley to cause an issue?
    Any help would be great.

  • CS4 network deployment failure

    Hi Guys
    For a few years now we've been reliably installing CS4 to workstations by running a batch script which among otherthings called the Adobe uberinstaller, which then installed CS4.
    Recently this has stopped working, so after some investigation I've discoverd that for some reason the silent installer is not accepting the serial number. The bizzare thing is the exact serial works fine if running the installer from disc. However it's gives the X if running the installer from a network share. We've installed from a network share for years and done hundreds of computers nothing I can think of has changed.
    Thinking it was a network thing, I copied the Adobe CS4 folder to a local drive and manually ran the installer, ditto, big red X on the serial. Run the disc on the same computer nice big green tick.
    Has anybody else experienced this or may know of a solution?

    To follow up the above the log shows this error.
    Checking bootstrapper progress
    Ran uninstall for the bootstrapper due to an exception
    Exception: Language en_GB is not in the list of supported languages
    Exit code: 7
    No en_GB? So I tried altering the AdobeUberInstaller.xml to en_US and I get
    Checking bootstrapper progress
    Ran uninstall for the bootstrapper due to an exception
    FATAL
    Exception: Property "serialNumber" locale: en_GB does not match with the property "installLanguage" :en_US in Install silent mode deployment file
    Exit code: 7
    Anyideas?

  • CS4 Silent Install Problems.

    I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue when running a slient install of Adobe CS4.

    I tried to look up this error on the net, but all I saw was that you need to register the jscript.dll file. I've done so with regserv32 operation and this does not solve the problem.
    BTW, I did use the Adobe Deployment Toolkit.
    Any ideas?

    All workstations you install CS4 on need windows installer 3.1 installed prior to a silent install.
    Well that solved the problem for me!

  • Photoshop CS3 Extended - Silent Deploy

    Hello All,<br /><br />I'm having difficulty installing Photoshop CS3 silently.  I've made a copy of the "Adobe CS3" directory on the DVD media to a network share (its contents being Setup.exe, as well as several other files and the payloads, redist, and  resources directories). <br /><br />As per the instructions in cs3_deployment.pdf I've created a file with the name "application.xml.override" within the payloads\AdobePhotoshop10en_US_volume directory. The contents of this file are as follows:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br /><Data key="Serial" protected="0">SERIALNUMBERHERE</Data><br /><Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />After creating the file, I ran setup.exe with the --mode=Silent command line parameter after which I received the following message at the command prompt:<br /><br />"UI mode: Silent"<br /><br />After Setup.exe and msiexec.exe appeared in the task manager for a moment I received an error message at the command prompt as follows:<br /><br />"End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7"<br /><br />According to cs3_deployment.pdf this error code corresponds to the following message:<br /><br />"Unable to complete the silent workflow"<br /><br />I am at a loss as to what to do. I typed the file out manually with normal quotes so as not to experience the issue of typographer's quotes being used instead of normal quotes.<br /><br />According to the log file located in c:\program files\common files\adobe\installers, the following error was experienced:<br /><br />"Deployment file does not exist: C:\program"

    I'm having trouble getting the CS3 silent install to find the Serial Number & EULA options - I've been through the xml files many times to check my syntax & spelling, but can't seem to find the problem.
    My application.xlm.override is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration>
    <Payload>
    <Data key="Serial" protected="0">13251xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</Data>
    <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload>
    </Configuration>
    I've saved this file in \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads\AdobeMasterCollectionSuiteen_US_Volume - I got the folder name from setup.xml in \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads\
    I've also tried copying the file to \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\, \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads & \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\deployment
    I've checked the serial number is correct by copying & pasting it into the serial number prompt after doing a non-silent install.
    The shared components are installing and also Acrobat, but not the others. When I read the installation log files, the install fails because the serial number was not found. The logs also show that the EULA settings are not being found.
    Here is the command I've used to try to install AfterEffects:
    \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\setup.exe --mode=Silent --deploymentFile=\\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\deployment\AfterEffects.xml
    And the contents of Aftereffects.xml are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Deployment>
    <Properties>
    <Property name="installLanguage">en_US</Property>
    <Property name="eula_EPIC_EULA_ACCEPTED">1</Property>
    <Property name="eula_EPIC_EULA_SELECTED">0</Property>
    </Properties>
    <Payloads>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3-->
    <Payload adobeCode="{FB245ED0-CD60-4B9C-9EB2-CDB63D189087}">
    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3 Template Projects & Footage-->
    <Payload adobeCode="{86B6D6BA-3231-4EF8-9C32-5DF258D3DB90}">
    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3 Third Party Content-->

    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    </Payloads>
    </Deployment>
    I'm sure there is something I'm overlooking, but can't seem to find what it is.

  • Finishing an Indesign CS4 Silent Installation

    Hi, I'm successfully able to do an unattended installation of InDesign CS4.  However, after completion, the command-line window just sits there and stares at me with the exit code.  Is there any way so that the command-line window will close automatically?  This is going to be a part of a package installation and I need it to close out so that it moves to the next component (InCopy CS4).  Thanks in advance.

    I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. I've only done the download once,  and if memory serves running the exe is supposesed to unpack the installer and deployment folders, which I seem to have done in a sufolder of the directory where I stored the .7z file and .exe. Burning them to a disk will not work -- they need to be on your hard drive.
    What size is the downloaded .exe file that you have?

  • Can Photoshop CS4 be deployed on Windows remote desktop server?

    I tried installing Photoshop extended CS4 on a Windows Remote Desktop server (Windows 2008 R2 64bit) and it said it requires at least Windows XP or Vista 64bit as the OS requirement. I can either continue or quit. Can someone verify if this product can be deployed in RDS enviroment?
    Thanks

    Mark:
    Thanks for the input. It worked. Interestingly, I first tried installing CS5 but the install just stopped. I then tried CS4 and it installed without trouble. For CS5, I have a downloaded copy of the software; for CS4, I have an actual physical DVD. I may explore this issue further at some later point. For now, having CS4 run is quite sufficient for testing and evaluation.
    I realize that using thin clients will impose some amount of performance penalty, but my expectation is that the overall performance will be acceptable for most user tasks most of the time. I take it from your post this has been your experience. I will still provide a stand-alone machine for the small number of projects where the application is taxing the limits of the computer, and any limitations imposed by Remote Desktop are not acceptable.
    Certainly, the software needs to be properly licensed, which Adobe is more than happy to provide. Through the thin client approach I hope to eliminate the maintenance and management headache of maintaining multiple, essentially identical, machines. And, I hope to reduce (by some small percentage) power costs.
    We'll see how it goes...
