CS4 still running as *32 bit in Windows7 Home Premium
I just installed W7 Home Premium and couldn't wait to get home and run Premier Pro to see it work in 64 bit.
What a disappointment! Checked task manager and it's STILL stuck in *32 bit.
How do I fix this so it runs at 64 bit?
(apologies if this has already been answered - I can't find what I need anywhere)
As far as I'm aware, only Photoshop CS4 has a native 64 bit version. Win Vista and 7 64 bit will run 32 bit progams perfectly fine anyway.

I'm looking to purchase a new PC that runs the 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm wondering if my older programs, Premiere Pro 1.5, Photoshop 7, and Dreamweaver MX 2004 will run in the new system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Gee, Phyllis I've read on microsofts own site that CS3 was 64 bit vista compatable and CS4 was native. I'm still on Photoshop 7 so I can't help you but on photoshop re-installs that load with messages about missing files , I search in my back up folders for the previous computer where it ran fine and copy it into my photoshop program folder.
If you google the exact missing file message you may find a site that charges for it. I'd be scared to do that, though.
Bob, if I grasp it correctly 64 bit compatible means "EUREAKA" the software runs on 64 bit vista in at least one case so we'll call it vista compatible. Vista 64 bit native means software will use bigger chunks of data and access more RAM available because it's been re-writen / coded and designed for it.
I had my old dell inspiron 8100 laptop start to BSD occasionally. I do a lot of photoshop and picture storage and have 2 big HP dual xeon 800 FSB workstations with XP Pro and 4GB of RAM (3.5 showing) for sit in one spot work. I broke down and bought a new laptop last september to replace the dell.
Got a gamers laptop and changed the OS to Ultimate 64 bit from Home Premium 64 bit and changed a single weirdly partitioned 200 GB 7200 RPM SATA drive to dual 320 GB 7200 RPM SATA HD's.Had to buy Partition Manager from Paragon to partition drives like I wanted (OS and programs on separate spindle from paging file and scratch disk)and it had to boot in a DOS mode to do partitioning succesfully and worked fine on Vista 64 bit. Norton Anti - virus works and was listed as 64 bit compatible when I bought it. Acronis True Image 11 home clearly states "Supports 64 bit CPU and windows Vista" so I guess they do or they don't................Got refunds from lavasoft and spyware blaster they both claimed Vista 32 and 64 bit but were quick to give refunds. Would not load or install.
As you can see I'm trying to adapt to vista and 64 bit so I'm used to it when I get new Vista workstations with more RAM for Photoshop. I've e-mailed Roxio support and have been issued a ticket # for my original problem. Let's see what they say..............Raymond -
I am running IE 11 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Service Pack 1. When I attempt to install Flash Player, it goes through all of the steps, tells me the player is installed, and welcomes me. I cannot open the player and it does not appear in the Start Menu, Task Manager, System Tray, or anywhere else. When I try to open a file, the site tells me Flash player is not installed. I have even downloaded it to a separate folder and ran the install with IE shut down completely. And Shockwave in ENABLED but in 32 bit .I have been trying to get this to work for about 3 weeks now. HELP!!!
Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually. -
Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple
It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly. -
I have the following system and want to run Elements12 or 13 efficiently; Vista Home Premium 32bit, Intel core 2duo [email protected], 3 GB RAM DDR2, Mobo MSI MS-7267 and on-board graphics chipset. I tried to run Elements9 and was rather slow so you can imagine Elements12 or 13..... Do I have to change the whole system or just buy a suitable VGA card? Which card would be OK for this system? I think that the key here is going from a 32 bit to 64 bit computer operating system where Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13 can become 64 bit application in a Windows 7 or 8.1 64 bit computer operating system. The increased computer resources implication of that should increase the frequency of getting the larger project taken to a successful complete more than before. A lot of this has to do with multitasking potential.
Premiere Elements does not support CUDA as seen in high end video cards/graphics cards. Since Premiere Elements 9, Premiere Elements has no GPU accelerated effects. But, I would decide on the best card for you based on overall computer rather than just for use in Premiere Elements. If you are interested in computer games, that will impact your card decision.
The use of a non super NVIDIA or ATI card should work for you. But, I have used neither.
I would consider more installed RAM, depending on your computer motherboard slots.
You might want to discuss the choice of the card with NVIDIA.

At the java update site it says my Firefox 4 is 32 bit and I will have to download both the 32 and 64 bit versions. I have IE9 which is both 32 and 64 bit versions. My primary browser is Firefox 4. My OS is Windows Home premium 64bit. I personally have no problem with the 32 bit but I am curious to know.

Nf750-g55 problem installing windows7 home premium 64bit
so i am attempting to build a htpc for a friend. got all the parts in the mail and started assembling the thing. installed the the m/b, cpu, hard drive, DVD drive, and power supply into the case and hooked up a old VGA CRT monitor and PS/2 keyboard and mouse. attempted to load the OS (specifically Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM)(purchased from newegg) which is where my problems started. pardon the length here but i will try to be as detailed as possible to describe the issues.
initial boot, everything powers up goes through the MB splash screen and it asks for bootable media.
i put the install disk in the DVD and reboot, it comes up and boots from the DVD and brings up the windows install desktop. copies files, expands files, installs features and updates then auto shuts down to reboot.
on reboot it brings up the desktop and starts flashing the 3 little dots next to the words completing installation. it does this for approximately 2 Min's then the computer crashes and app 20 seconds later the monitor led turns from green to amber for loss of video signal.
computer reboots with MB splash screen then brings up the windows shut down unexpectedly screen "what do you want to do?"
if i start windows normally it brings up the windows splash screen with the 4 fireflies that turn into the windows icon, blinks once then black screens. few secs later the monitor led goes amber and the system reboots.
if i start in safe mode it will go Through the windows splash screen to the desktop and gives me the message "cannot finish installation in safe mode please reboot"
as of this time i have swapped the memory out for the smaller module listed in my Sig. i started with a 4GB module of gskill ripjaw but have read that windows7 sometimes doesn't like more then 2 GB installed so used a spare i had laying around. i also tried another harddrive, i have run memtest86 as well as a harddrive diagnostic on the installed drive. i have swapped the drive sata cables around a bit. currently have hd in sata1 and DVD in sata4.
i reflashed the bios from v1.3 to v1.5 with no change in the symptoms.
i also unplugged everything from the front panel of the case except for the power/reset switches and power/hdd LEDs. no overclocking. insured the overclock dips on the MB were set in the off position.
i also have tried to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of 7 ultimate. both fail in the exact same way. however a copy of server2008 32bit installed just fine.
i made a tech support ticket with msi and hit the highlights in my post there, the response was that this type of concern is typically caused by memory issues but since i had both swapped in another memory module and run memtest that it was likely a MB issue and i should contact my reseller for an exchange.
before making an rma request i wanted to touch base here and see if anyone might have a solution that wont require me waiting another week or so to get this thing up and running. it almost sounds like i may have a driver type issue that is causing things to wig out on me, since it boots OK in safe mode but not in normal mode. but i really dont have any idea on how to test that theory.
in advance thank you for any suggestionswell i tried out a diferent dvd and cable today and no go on a resolution that way. and yes the ram module is in the dimm1 slot
as a hail mary i stuck my HD into my other computer and installed the os that way and then ran the msi driver disk as well before parking the HD back in the other case. amazingly the thing booted up just fine and loaded a bunch of drivers. everything seemed ok until i rebooted and got a bsod during loading into windows. at least now i have a direction to go with. the minidump info listed the nvlddmkm.sys driver as the fault. from a quick websearch this seems to be a issue with the nvidia driver sets. i am currently attempting to locate a stable driver set version. will post back with either success or failure results -
Upgrading Win7 Home Premium 32-bit to Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
I just purchased a Thinkpad X201 that came preinstalled with Win7 Home Premium 32-bit installed and I would prefer to run the 64-bit version. Is there any way I can inexpensively get the necessary DVD(s) and will the current product key on my laptop validate the 64-bit version? I understand that this will require a clean install but as MS normally provides both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of Win7 with there standard OEM sets I was hoping that Lenovo could provide me the necessary DVD(s) at little or no cost (shipping?).

Go to Solution.alternatively you can download the legal version of the 64 bit ISO from notebookreview forum ('google notebookreview win 7 iso download).
Then use that to install the version of the win 7 you want, and you can activate that OS with the serial key that you have received with your laptop on the sticker under the laptop.

Will photos created on a 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium be readable on a Windows 7 64 bit system?
I have around 25,000 photos in jpeg and tiff and in version sets plus some slide shows and blurb books created in the 32 bit system of Windows Vista Home Premium with PSE 10.0 and Premier and have to change to a 64 bit Windows 7 system since Adobe is discontinuing the Photoshop Elements programs in early April of 2013. Will these photos created in 32 bit be readable and editable in the 64 bit system?
Yes. PSE works on both 32bit and 64 bit systems.
PSE is not being discontinued. The on-line service at Photoshop.com is simply moving to Adobe Revel. -
Whenever I shutdown iTunes on my computer, it keeps re-opening and I have to go to Task Manager and end the process in order for it to shutdown.

SMTosiAs per your description, seems the installation of Office have got completely corrupted. I would suggest you to completely remove Office 2010 from your computer and then reinstall it.
For how to remove/uninstall Office from your computer, I would suggest you to use Microsoft Fix It tool:

ITunes update failed to reinstall on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium
Never had problems before with iTunes update. I never had to do anything besides accepting the agreement, followed the prompts, and clicked "Finish" at the end of the installation. But the update that came 3 days ago failed to install, with a message to get the 64-bit version of iTunes even though iTunes have always installed to the same 64-bit OS computer. After countless hours of uninstalling and reinstalling, and registry clean up, I'm now coming up at 2 consecutive reinstallations with this error message:
Could not open key:
UNKNOWN\Components\32A7D634EB632D11CABB00087CCFBB48\C09E34DBD62CDBC6EB11CA. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I have read other postings with identical error message but no answers either here or on the Apple's forum site. I will appreciate any help, workaround or whatever.
