CS4 Suite fails to install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I just built my Intel i7-980x Workstation with 12gigs of ram a PNY Quadro FX3800 GPU and a 160 SSD.  I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS.  I then began installing my CS4 Production Premium Sutie onto my new Workstation, but the install, after the 4th disk, displayed and error message that said "Done, but with errors."  I can't load the screen shot since Adobe won't allow attachments.  I called TS, but they couldn't help.  I then look on this forum and found people having the same "Language packages" not installing on their XP/Vista machines.  So after turning off the firewall with no anti-virus it still would not install correctly.  Funny thing was I could launch Pr, Ae and Soundbooth, but not Ps, Ai or Fl.  I went to the Windows 7 website to see about the "Public" folder and this location http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Sharing-files-with-the-Public-folder shows you how to turn it back on as Win7 disables it; at least the Ultimate version does.  I attempted the install for the 4th time (I removed it every time prior to the next try) it finally worked.  Tech support needs to be on top of these things, but thank God for this forum and people sharing their experiences.  Hope this helps someone else

Ankit: you should really use code blocks when giving typing or copy/paste instructions.  This forum software keeps inserting random blanks and/or linefeeds into normal text, so when the user copied your instructions, the blanks were copied as well; thus the command failed.
Example:
Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> type  "cmd". In the section above you should be able to see a command.exe.  Right click on the same and select Run As Administrator)
In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f
The 'i' and 'ii' in the list above will probably be replaced by the forum software by something else (possibly 'a' and 'b') when I click the Post button.

  • Clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on Qosmio X870

When I received my laptop (Qosmio x870) I immediately uninstalled its OS since it was filled with bloatware and installed a clean version of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. After my install I have been trying to install the drivers on my laptop, but some don't seem to be working.
My VGA driver has installed, but the windows experience index for my graphics is 5.5 which is much lower than it should be (if memory serves right it was 7.4 before I uninstalled the original bloated O.S). However, the biggest problem I have come across is the Network driver. I have installed every single network driver on Toshiba's driver page for the qosmio x870, but none seem to work. For some reason the laptop thinks my wifi is turned off, which I know is not (unless there is a setting in bios which should be changed otherwise I really don't know).
I really need some help here guys, if someone can point me to the EXACT drivers I absolutely need it would mean the world to me. Toshiba should really have a bundle of essential drivers, like most other computer companies have, it makes everything so much easier for people who hate the bloated O.S that comes with their laptop.

I found a driver installation list for X870 and this installation order is required:

  • Windows 10 Preview fails to install on Windows 8.1 64-bit Azure VM...

    Hello,
I have created a Windows 8.1 64-bit on an Azure VM and downloaded the Preview ISO. I created an E: drive and copied the ISO over to the E: drive. From there I ran the setup.exe. The setup runs just fine until it comes to a restart. There the VM restarts
and the RDP connection is lost. I stop the VM, wait for an hour or so, restart the VM, and reconnect through RDP. When logging in the Preview returns an error message stating the Preview could be installed - there's a cryptic hex code. Then
    the 8.1 OS is reloaded.
Is there a procedure I can follow to get the Windows 10 Preview running on a Azure VM. I've tried a number of times to no avail.
    Any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks!

  • New HDD won't install OEM Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

New Satellite laptop, Win 7 64 bit system., but just put a new 1T hard drive in and new Win 7 Ultimate OEM disc. Boots from the disc, but then I get a black screen with orange stripe across the top...on the screen it says "Starting Windows" but
no instructions, or steps to follow...what is going on?

Yes. you can try with the restore disc. It should work.
I've read few articles here on TechNet regarding 'Starting Windows' issue (without vertical orange line though), and almost all of them ended up with hardware incompatibility issue.
Could be that 1TB hard drive is not compatible with the laptop, or you have to change some settings within BIOS.
But try with Home Premium restore first. Worth to try.
    1. Boot into the repair disc / Windows installation disc
    2. Select "Reimage your computer"
    3. Connect the disk which contains the backups.
    4. Choose the recommended system image or choose a different one if you wish.
    5. On the next page select the time period of the image you want to restore to. Click Next.
    6. Now choose "Format and repartition disks".
Go ahead and complete the wizard.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes on startup under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - No splash screen

I installed my licensed copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended today as part of my install a bunch of software after a reinstall of Windows (due to viruses).  I did a completely fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I've used Photoshop CS3 Extended for quite a while now so I know what to expect on startup but it was previously installed under Windows XP Professional (32-bit). Figured I would give Windows 7 a chance this time around.
Google searches aren't turning up anything.  When I attempt to start the application, I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no "Extended" - I seem to recall the title changes later) and the toolbar appears.  However, no splash screen appears and no Product Activation wizard appears - the application simply freezes on an empty frame and a toolbar.  I've tried running Photoshop as Administrator (right-click, "Run As Administrator"), but nothing changed there.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I tried upgrading to CS3 10.0.1.  Nothing works.  The application simply freezes before it gets anywhere.
I tried calling Adobe Support since this technically falls under installation issues but their phone support systems are down today.  Go figure.
Edit:  I hooked into Photoshop with the Visual Studio debugger and every single thread is executing some variation of WaitForSingleObject() or WaitForMultipleObjects().  The main thread is "executing" somewhere in AdobeLM_libFNP.dll (at address 09619d81 - if I had debugging symbols for CS3, I could provide a function).  There are nine threads "running" at the point the freeze occurs - but all of them are technically suspended due to the functions they are executing - and one thread is in a suspended state.

And, according to the Event Viewer, the "Binary" data translates to a zero-terminated Unicode string of "Cross-thread".
My Visual Studio analysis was far more informative.  All threads are hung inside of WaitForSingleObject() and WaitForMultipleObjects() calls and the DLL in question appears to be FlexNet-related.  I did forget to mention that I also even manually started the FlexNet service in case, for some strange reason, Photoshop was waiting for it to start.  That also did not work.
(And there is nothing in the Action Center control panel either despite the message saying there might be more information there.)
Edit:  The timestamp above might be a little odd-looking.  I didn't originally see anything in Event Viewer until I clicked the first button to send an Error Report.  Mostly I just skipped that part of killing a process.

  • Expanding Ram After Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Upgrade???

I am finally setting up my HP Pavilion DV2600 notebook that I purchased 2 years ago (It's a long story!). I bought it with Vista Ultimate 64 bit in spite of Vista horror stories and 4G ram, the max ram that was offered at that time. Since finally(!) getting this computer up and running, I removed all traces of the evil Vista and did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I upgraded the HD to a Hitachi 750G 7200, and I also want to add more ram memory beyond the 4G it came with. What do I have to do to this machine to at least go up to 8G, preferably 16G? Or, perhaps, what can I do...I'm willing to put some money into it to replace some support hardware if this will give the expansion capability I want. Any ideas? And, please do not say, "Buy another computer" because I particularly want to use this one, just with more 'guts'!
Thanks for any help with this, & Cheers, /Dr. Cid

    Hi:
If your PC has the Intel 965 chipset and an Intel processor, you should be able to install  8 GB (2 x 4 GB pf PC2-6400) memory.
Try one 4 GB chip at at time. If it works, buy the second one.
If it has the AMD processor and nvidia chipset, the best you can do is 4 GB (2 GB x 2 GB).
See this related post if you have the intel processor and chipset:

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall with sufficient user privileges and security stuff turned off. Your install went wrong because you didn't consider this.

  • Can't install CS4 Design Premium on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

    Hi All,
I've been scouring forums, and trying suggested fixes to no avail. I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on a brand new internal hard drive. I'm in the process of removing all my apps from Vista and reinstalling on this OS. Here's a breakdown on what I've done regarding CS4 Design Premium:
    1) Deactivated the install from Vista.
    2) Verified with Customer Support that my license key is available for install and activation.
    3) Disabled User Account Control setting in Windows 7.
    4) Tried installing from the discs, only to get the error: "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance."
    5) Reattempted installation, as I've read that sometimes a second attempt will work fine. No good.
    6) Downloaded and ran the Win CS5 Cleanup Script (which has an add-on utility for CS3 and CS4) in order to get rid of trace registry files. This did its job successfully.
    7) Found an official trial of CS4 Design Premium, which downloaded straight from Adobe's website. Tried installing that, as I've read that the trial can be successful over the discs. No good.
Does anyone have any other help they can offer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Jessica

It’s a head-scratcher. It appears that you took spsaxena’s advice and renamed the Config.Msi folder and then, during installation, a new new Config.Msi folder was created, but you weren’t allowed access to it?
You then “took ownership” of the new Config.Msi and still the install program stated it couldn’t write to a file in the folder? Was it able to write any “rbf” files in Config.Msi?
I’m on CS5 now, but I was running CS4 on an in-place upgrade to Windows 7, 64-bit — but I don’t recall that Apple supported CS4 installation on Window 7 That may be part of the problem.
It’s a long shot, but you could try setting the setup file to compatibility mode for Windows Vista 32-bit: right-click the executable, click the Compatibility tab, checkmark Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop-down list (or the others, you can play with them all). You can also check-mark Run this program as an administrator.

  • CS4 InDesign fails to install

Last night I downloaded the file ADBESTDSCS4_LS1.dmg and used Easy Install; however CS4 InDesign failed to install.  I've called tech support, but the person I spoke with told me to read several articles about troubleshooting an installation using disks.  She was absolutely no help. Would someone tell me how to install InDesign CS4?
My operating system is Mac OSX 10.5.8.  I received no error messages.  I was upgrading from CS2 InDesign. The Easy Install just didn't install InDesign.

You can try to use the CS4 Cleanscript to see if that helps. You can also fix permissions and make sure you are installing as an administrator.

  • Photoshop CS6 Beta install failing on Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). I am unable to install the Photoshop CS6 beta version. When I launch the setup.exe file, the "Initializating Installer" dialogue box appears, however as soon as it finishes loading the dialogue box closes and nothing happens after that. If I try to relaunch the setup, it prompts me by saying that another setup is in progress. Could you please help me in this regards?

    Hi Pragya,
I have done so several times as well. In fact, I just tried it a couple of minutes back, still the installed initializes and disappears like nothing happened. In the mean while I have restarted my machine a number of times.
Can anyone help me with this issue, as i really wanna try the new CS6? Its really annoying.

  • Boot Camp not able to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit!!???

Guys I'm using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 & I'm having a problem installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit through boot camp. When I insert the windows installation disc it creates the partition but as soon as it restarts to proceed the installation, it hangs up there saying 'No Bootable Device. Please Insert Installation Disc and press any key to continue'. But when i was previously using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I installed Windows 7 using the same disc and it proceeded without any issues. Can any body give me a solution to it please because I want Windows 7 in boot camp and I do not want to use it in any virtual machine like parallels desktop!!! I AM USING iMAC 2010 so its quite new!!!!!!

I am having the same problem. I have a very recent 27" iMac 3.4g i7 and I am trying to install Windows 7 64bit upgrade. Also running OSX 10.7.2. It also stalls out after expending files reporting that there are missing files with a error code 0x80070057. I was trying to install a fresh complete version but had bought the upgrade.. I had vista on another machine but had taken it off and was going to use the key for the upgrade. No windows had as of yet been installed. I later tried to install Vista as a way to upgrade to Win7,which went ok, but when I tried to upgrade to Win 7 64bit, I couldn't. I have tried this multiple times without success and have removed the boot camp partition after each failed attempt... Any Suggestions?? Thanks in advance

Step1 : Most of the installation issues are fixed by reinstalling the Windows Installer.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175
Step 2: If Step 1, does nt work. You could try these
Navigate to C:/program data/OviSuite Installer Cache Remove all the subfolders from there.
Step 3: If it still does nt work then download the MSI clean up utility (provided in this post, save it as exe and then install it) Click and remove anything which is related to nokia.
    Hopefully it works
