CS4 tabs vs. CS minimizing images

Oh man. I wish I would never have gotten CS4. What a mess. They took regular CS and made it more difficult. What a great idea.
In regular CS, when I had a lot of photos up on the screen, I could minimize the photos, and easily move them so I could group them into winners, losers, and maybe's.
With CS4, it just has the tabs at the top for each photo, and I can't really even access all the photos; I can only see maybe 6 photos at a time before I have to hit the arrows left or right, but then I can't easily re-access photos I've previously looked at. What a stupid "upgrade"!
I also love the way you can call Adobe, then after a 45 minute hold, you automatically get cut off. Yet another great idea they came up with.
Is there some way to separate the photos?

you updated CS4 to 11.0.1 correct?
When you get back from lunch you can open CS4 and launch bridge from there. You will see BR to the right of Help at the top. Just click on it. It is like explorer but much better for view, selecting, organizing........
Also you can click on start and all programs. Bridge will be listed towards the top.

"Preview" history, I am running lion and when I double click on the preview icon in the dock, it seems to be showing me the history and not the "minimized" images only

When I am running "Preview" of few images and minimized 1 of them, if I double tap the tracking pad, magix mouse etc..., the gesture should show me what is currently open, the upper part of the screen and what is minimized, in the lower part of the screen. Instead, I get a lot of images at the bottom part along with the minimized images, it seems like it is showing me the history files as well. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Can I erase the history of "Preview"?

Another bug or new stupid apple design....
I tried everything including setting no history in the General control panel. I also removed the reopen window that I don't like by default....
But it seems impossible at all... It is part of the very bad design introduced in Lion. Lion is the Vista made by Apple.

Three Tabs each with different Images on select or hover

Hello,
I have a requirement where in each tab should have different images, currently there are three tabs and all three should have different images when selected/hover, here is a screen shot of my application for tab http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/1087/44160812.jpg , how do i modify CSS to include two other images for tabs "Book" and "Profile"?

CS4 Photomerge Won't Align Images Correctly

I've used PS CS4 successfully several times to create panoramic images. I decided to re-do a panorama that I had created with an older version a few years ago, but CS4 won't align the images correctly. It keeps trying to make the horizon into a wavey line. It also is not giving me the option of adjusting its results. Is there anything I could do to fix this?

You probably don't want to hear this, but Photoshop CS5 apparently has improved horizon handling over CS4. I've noticed the horizons in my panos are coming out better with CS5.
That said, have you tried "Cylindrical" mode instead of "Automatic"?

How to get minimal Image Display VI

I'm building a GUI for a multi camera ROV (Underwater Robot), and I want to include several live image feeds in the display.
I can get the feeds to work, but I seem to be stuck using one of the two "Display Image" VI's on the Vision Pallet.
These have a range of additional features that I don't want, and cant seem to turn completely off.
eg:
-There is a "raised" area with border around the image that is just taking up real-estate. I can't seem to reduce this to zero. (I've tried the new and classic vi)
-There is a tool pallet which I don't want. I have various "preview" windows that just need to be dumb displays. The tools are not only unnecessary, but a problem is someone clicks on the image by accident.
So.. Bottom line I'd like just a dumb minimal Image display window VI that I can feed with an IMAQ Image.ctl wire, and that accepts no user input.
Is such a thing available?

Factory reset and a minimized image recovery

Has anybody tried this?
I am considering doing a factory reset to restore my computer to the original, and...... then..... doing a minimized image recovery to remove all the trial applications and games software on C drive.
What else will I loose doing the minimized image recovery besides the trial applications software?
How about the programs (Cyber...etc.) that were included for the Blue ray drive..play and record that aren't trials.
Just what exactly are the trial applications ?
Any discussion or remarks on this ?
This laptop has 2 hard drives, C and D. HP's Dv7 Pavilion. Windows Home premium 64 bit O.S.

My reasoning for the factory reset following with a MIR is because I have 2 physically separate hard drives installed in the laptop. Looking back, I probably should have done this when I first got it.
I did finally get a response from HP stating the only thing removed by doing a MIR was the games.They had no clue what was originally on the computer even with the ser.# ( software dejour?). I might want to take this with a bit of caution (my thought).
If I was only to do the MIR only affecting my C drive with the OS, to completely? remove the games, it would leave my D drive intact (I have 2 separate hard drives).
I loaded (installed) as many programs on to the second hard drive as I could because the C drive isn't that big. Because of this, I was worried about lingering problems, thinking I might need to reinstall programs to regain the links to the start menu.
I'm still trying to learn how to get these programs to the start menu if I was to leave the D drive intact (MIR). I am assuming there is a way?.
What I want is a setup where my computer is free of the games, and trial software, but with the programs I have installed and the data and documents I have from these programs.
Probably the easiest way is a new install of windows and wipe the slate clean,costing me $100 +/-, but I'd loose HP drivers, etc. which I've found aren't that easy to replace.
I am leaning toward a complete factory reset, MIR to remove what bloatware I can, followed by "uninstall software" from controll panel to get rid of what I haven't used in a year with a reinstall of my prefered programs and documents but I'm still looking for other suggestions or experiences.

Minimized Image Recovery

I was planning on doing a System Recovery when i saw this new option called "Minimized Image Recovery". My question is what programs/software will i start with when i do it? Will i start with Internet explorer,Norton,etc..? Will this delete my recovery partition?

Minimized Image Recovery does the following:
Re-installs the original operating system.
Re-installs all original hardware drivers.
Re-installs HP essential software (i.e., HP Support Assistant, HP Recovery Manager, etc.).
Does not install trial applications or trial games.
If there are user-created partitions on the hard drive, the HP Recovery Manager prompts you for permission to remove them or leave them intact.

Minimized Image Recovery option still available?

I used to have an HP Mini netbook. If I needed to format the hard drive, I would use the HP Recovery Manager program. What made this program really nice is that there was an option called Minimized Image Recovery. This would format the hard hard, reinstall the operating system, a few HP maintenance programs, and the necessary drivers. Most importantly, NO "bloatware" was reinstalled. It was a truly clean format of the hard drive.
Do today's HP notebooks still offer the Minimized Image Recovery option, or has that been removed?

I don't have one of the latest with Windows 8 but the 9 month old DV6t 7000 loaner with Windows 7 I am using has Minimized Image Recovery. I think it is a lasting feature that HP realizes a lot of owners like.

Fireworks CS4 will not open multiple images in tabs

Run into a problem with CS4. I frequently open 10+ images at the same time using Fireworks CS4. My problems is, whenever I highlight and click the 10+ images from desktop, they all open in Fireworks, but only 2 are tabbed. The rest of the images are in a floating window. How do I fix this? This is really frustrating.

Things have now become significantly worse!
Now when I try to open anything from Bridge, or try to open PhotoShop at all, I receive a popup that gives me 2 options: 1) License PS CC, or 2) continue with my trial of PS CC.
So far as I know, I have not downloaded any trial of anything from Adobe in many months. In fact, I have no interest in PS CC. I wish simply to use PS CS6.
I have uninstalled my Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard, of which my PS CS is a part, and reinstalled it but I still am blocked from using my properly licensed programs.
Please advise.

Can't move minimized images in CS4

I print alot of picture packages at a time, and was used to minimizing the packages, and making a vertical row of them in photoshop, to keep track of where I was in the order while they were printing. This was just fine from PS7 through CS3, but in CS4, if I minimize them, they go to the bottom of the photoshop work area, but pop back open when I try to move them. I seem to have lost the ability to control where these go--bottom of the workspace, period.
I'm told that it's a problem with the OS, not Photoshop, but within PSCS4 is the only place I have this issue. Having updated PS, I have CS, CS2, & CS3 on the machine to use, and I had hoped that there was a preference I was missing, but nothing has helped... Seems like a pretty small thing, but I keep having to do print runs from CS2, because of not wanting to deal with this, and it's a pain in the backside to hop back & forth.
Just curious--has anyone else seen this behavior?

Something you installed is trying to translate the image format and alter the files.
You'll have to track down what you did install that could be doing something that evil.

Help with CS4 tabbed image mode?

How does one drag a layer from one image to another in tabbed mode?
I'm forcing myself to work with the tabbed image interface as I assume someone thought this new feature was a good idea.
I often drag or shift+drag layers from one image to another, whether it be adjustments or image elements that need to be placed (in register) as a layer in another open image.
But when I use the tabbed interface mode any attempt to drag a layer from one tab to another does not work.
What am I missing???

Yeah I noticed the same limitation.. they making floating document mode extra ****(UI interface that doesn't adhere to System OS visual style, documents that no longer move with the main PS UI, like when you adjust the mainframe size or move the window floating docs would get moved and stay within the UI, unless you dragged and floating doc outside the main ui frame, which was good, but now it seems floating docs always live outside the mainframe and appear above docked although open panel UIs.. not to mention the new theme looks like complete and utter dogshit.. but oh well.. CS5 might get some more work.. maybe they'll bring back the pallete well.. ******* adobe noobs.
I too liked to drag & drop of layer objects onto another document its common thing I do when working in photoshop.. I just can't believe how lame Adobe are that they couldn't allow this functionality seeing as a tabbed UI is the default setup now..
seems like the only way around it is to use the now **** floating document mode... or use one of the splitview modes.. course those are crap, but at least you can D&D layer objects, and then switch back the single doc tab.
lets not get into the flakey **** opengl support and functionality.

Adobe Cs4 - Can't change 1 image at a time .. ??

hi guys, this is my first time in this forum, and i have been looking for the solution of this problem of mine for like 3 hour on the internet and couldn't find anything .. so i came here ..
well, the problem is, i am making a website (even tough i don't know much about editing and stuff yet) and i'm trying to use this Template.. there are tabs on the site with option etc, and i am having trouble editing 1 tab at a time .. everytime i change something in 1 tab, it automatically changes all the others as well .. i don't know why .. there is a green 'glowing' light green retangle around all the tabs.. it migh have something to do with what's happening.

Luckily that's not a CS4 file or I wouldn't be able to open it.
If you go back to the image you showed in your first posting, that timeline you were editing is the key to having the names changed to what you want. Each frame of that timeline holds a different label for the button. So you need to edit those to be the labels you want to display. The code to control which frame you land on for each button is on the buttons on the main timeline.
If you go back to the main timeline and select one of the buttons, you will see code in the Actions panel like the following assigned...

This code is placed on each button at each keyframe, so you need to edit it at each keyframe (if you need to edit it... you may not if changing the labels was all you needed).
The line that says "this.p = 1;" is what determines which label the button will have... that number is the keyframe of the button timeline you changed the names in. Hopefully, the "link = " line is obviuous to you as far as what it's for.

Photoshop CS4 Tabs

Everything is great in CS4 EXCEPT...I can't stand it that every file that I open appears in a new tab instead of a new window. I have searched the preferences high and low, and I unchecked "Open Documents as Tabs". No dice. Any help is much appreciated.

are you by chance opening images by draging them into Photoshop? if yes then make sure that you don't drop them on the canvas area, drop them over the panels or the title/options/application bar

Photoshop CS4 and Grab crashing saving images

I did an upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6 and I am having issues with what seems to be image files. When I save a screenshot from Grab to a .tiff it crashes 90% of the time. Saving in Photshop a JPEG also crashes photoshop cs4. Anyone have any ideas? Ive included some logs below..

I too was having the same problem with Web Premium CS3. Working with my previously created animated GIF files, or certain JPGs were causing either Ps to crash or even Safari to crash when I was trying to attach those same files and send them to clients via email. I got frustrated and am reinstalling the OS from scratch. I have a solid backup and thought this might clear up things (not to mention make me feel better cause I am cleaning house at the same time). Just now going through the forums to find others are having the same issues. If this does not fix the problem, I shall be back for more assistance. As a graphic/web designer, working in graphic files is my life (bread & butter).
