CS4 timeline

I'm new to flash in general, but recently upgraded to CS4. I
know that in CS3 on the insert menu I could insert a "timeline
effect" to "explode" a graphic. In CS4, I cannot find this option.
Can someone please help me find the effects menu. Thanks

Some of the 'effects' have been moved to Motion Presets, and
the distributed duplicates function can be done now with the Deco
Tool in CS4. The Motion Presets included with the CS4 installation
are mostly transitions, so you can still find a lot of those in
CS4. The explosion effect is not in the Motion Presets, though. I
know that the Motion Presets panel is limited, but the ability to
save and import and export custom made Motion Presets is possible
(apparently Flash does it in an XML format), so I imagine there
should be some custom made effects built by users and shared with
the public.

  • Adobe Media Encoder exports different video than what appears in CS4 timeline

I'm using Premiere CS4 to edit a short skiing video.  All shots were taken using a GoPro @ 60fps, 720p.  All of the clips were converted into slow motion by using "Interpret Footage" and setting the frame rate to 24.  I used the sequence preset "AVCHD 720p 24", and editing seemed to work fine.  The video played smoothly and correctly.  However, after exporting in Adobe media encoder, the video was far different than what I previewed in the timeline.  It seems as though each clip shows up at the correct time, but it disregarded any trimming I did to the clips and each one is played from the very beginning.  Also, each clip plays extremely slowly, and there is signifigant ghosting (frame blending issue?).  I can also see that the preview window that shows up while I set the export settings displays the incorrect video as well.  However, if i change it from "source" to "output", it displays it correctly.  I tried exporting using H.264 720 24p and the youtube HD widescreen preset, both of which failed.  I am somewhat new to HD video, but I cannot seem to come up with any reason why my video will not export correctly.  Any thoughts?

  • Premiere Pro CS4, Timeline distorts when editing

I recently installed my version of PPro CS4 on a new Macbook, and everything runs fine except for one issu
Whenever I try to drop something into the timeline, the entire timeline distorts and won't let me see what's on it other than the specific clip I just moved.
I have some screen shots if that helps.
    What it looks like normally.
What it looks like after I move something on the timeline or drop something in there.
The only way I can get it to look correct again is by maximizing the panel with the ~ key, then shrinking it down again.
I'm using AVCHD files, if that matters.
I've tried just about everything, including updating it to the 2.4 version of CS4, and nothing. @AdobeCare and @AdobePremiere were no help and just refered me to the live chat agent who basically told me he can't help me since it's CS4.
Does anyone have any idea why it's doing this?
    Thanks.

    HI rxa081,
    Have you tried:
    Resetting preferences
Delete Media Cache Files and the Media Cache Database
    Reinstalling the application
    Use OS X 10.8, not OS X 10.9
    Use different media

  • Premiere CS4 timeline goes black - refresh problem?

Every time I try to edit in premiere pro CS4, after a while (or straight away) the timeline goes black. Everything around the clips (not including the clips) goes black and I can see anything on the timeline except the clips. If I move the timeline off the screen and back on it refreshes normally? This problem in intermittent by persistent. I have done all the updates for premiere and my graphics card.
    My system is:
    OS: Win7 64Bit
    Intel core i7 920
    6GB Ram
    ATI HD5770 1GB GDDR5
    C drive is 200GB SATA1
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had an almost identical problem.
    Windows 7 64bit
    Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1
    Cineform neoscene
    Nvidia GT240 (latest driver 257.21)
Premiere pro would work fine until I loaded up internet explorer, then the timeline would go black as soon as I dragged a clip around. I needed to completely log out of windows to get the timeline visible again after moving a clip.
I switched to firefox, but that had the same effect.
However I then tried the seamonkey browser and premiere now works fine!
    Hope this helps.

  • INSANELY annoying CS4 timeline bug in Flash Presentation format

I've been using the Flash "presentation" format for three versions now, for doing very slide-like but animated training modules. Suddenly in CS4, there's a bug in the timeline where, no matter if the layer is locked or unlocked, frame 10 or 1000, an old file or a brand new CS4 file, the timeline scrubber JUMPS instantly back to frame 0 when you click any frame.
Can you imagine how frustrating it is to be working on a long animation, and you can't even navigate your timeline?? Please tell me there's some fix for this, I couldn't find one.
    Screengrab attached. thanks

    Hi Ned,
Thank you for verifying this and the suggestion...
The issue with adding the "blank frames" is the flash player slows to about 4 times slower to render out the new frame.
I have decided to place the code directly on the buttons, because I have found that sometimes a button's name will change as well and call on the wrong function....So this is very weird that I can dynamically change a buttons name hardcoded in! I cannot take the risk of the button firing off the wrong function as this could seriously injure someone. This program controls some big machinery.
The issue seems to stem pretty deep into the flash engine and effects all "Objects".
    For example:
    1. On Frame 1 name all of the objects
    2. On Frame 2 rename all of the objects
3.On Frame 3 do not name the objects
    On frame 1 gotoAndStop(3)
all of the buttons are named from frame 2 !!!!
So even though I have skipped frame 2 the unnamed objects pick up frame 2's names and label the unnamed objects.
So I would think the player would skip over frame 2...like a hard drive would indexing....but rather the flash player acts like a tape recorder having to seek to a position in the timeline.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 - Timeline Substitute.

I need to find a way to duplicate the timeline functionality that used to be present in Dreamweaver (prior to CS4).  I need to do some timed events, I'm trying to setup a kiosk that will rotate between several pages automatically.  I'm sure there are javascripts i can use but was hoping that someone had created a DW extension or some sort of behavior to handle this type of thing.  Or better yet that there is something already built into the application that can handle timed events.
    thanks
    dave

I found a script that worked for my purpose.
    <script>
    setTimeout("form1.submit()", 300000);
    </script>
I mostly needed to submit a form on a set rotation.  This works for me.
here a link to a quick description of the script http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp

  • CS4 Timeline Video Running Double Speed

    Hi everyone!
Maybe someone knows where the problem lies...
I add a video clip (.m2v /mpeg) to encore cs4 and a ac3. I create a timeline with these streams. If i press play to preview the timeline to add chapters, the video is running double speed and is over after half of the time. Audio plays normal.
If i open the same project with the same settings in CS3 it works properly.
Does anyone know where the problem lies?

    Could you check with

    and/or

  • Cs4 timeline versus Windows Media Player

When I place 1920 x 1080 clips that I exported out of CS4 After Effects onto the Premeire timeline, they seem to lose some resolution. If I play that clip out of the Windows Media Player, it displays better resolution.
The clips look good in AE and they look good with the Media Player. What is happening in Premeire?

I'm viewing the Ppro timeline on a second monitor which runs off of my second graphics card. It's not been professionally calibrated, but I suspect that it's not far off. It's also the monitor that I'm using to view the same file in AE's composition window and Windows Media Player.
Does your comment about not using Premieres' timeline for judging quality still apply?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 timeline unavailable

I am running PPro CS4.2.1 on a Windows Vista machine. When I open a new file and import media, I am unable to drag the media into the timeline. The timeline window is there but it has no channel infomation and it will not accept media. If I open a previous file from before this began happening, the timeline is available. I have tried using the Reset workspace command, but the timeline is still blanked out. I need some help because I cannot get any projects done with this dilemma. I'm thinking this must be related to the automatic updates from Adobe since this worked before...

Assuming that you established Sequence settings in your New Project, you should have one Timeline (the Sequence) in the Project Panel. You may have to twirl-down your Bins to find it. It is there that you would do the Dbl-click, and not on the media file itself.
Do not recall the default color of Sequences in CS4, but it will be different, than the various media files.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you still cannot locate it, attach a screen-cap of your Project Panel with ALL Bins opened to all levels. Someone will be able to point you to the Timeline/Sequence to Dbl-click.

  • Flash CS4 Timeline Problem

Have an iMac with Snow Leapord 4 gig memory.  When  I open Flash CS4 in Essentials Mode the Timeline appears at the bottom of the screen, however the status bar at the bottom of the timeline with the add Layers, add Folders and Trash can are missing.  I have also seen some other weird things with CS4 but this is the latest and most annoying.  Has anyone else experienced this. I tried resetting the mode and adjusting the timeline size without success.  Has any one else experienced this problem.  Any insight would be appreciated.
    Ron

    Many thanks for your reply!!1
I think I mentioned I was having other problems.  One of which was when I tried to select a frame on the timeline the all frames were selected.  Well, I found an option in the preferences for Timeline - Span Based Selection -  Somehow this was turned on.  Turned it off and so far everything seems ok.  Don't know if this was the problem, but at this point everything seems to be operating properly.  Thanks again for responding.

  • Kodak videos lag in Premiere Pro CS4 timeline

    Hey all,
Apperently there's a bug in Adobe Premiere Pro which makes it difficult to edit videos that were captured in a Kodak camera.
This issue was discussed here before, but even after reading all threads in the subject I could not solve the problem.
I've been trying to convert these files (.mov) to many other formats and codecs with no success.
After a while I got to find this crappy software that claims to specialize in converting Kodak's video files (iOrgSoft Video Converter).  Between many tries of various softwares that was the only one that did  it right. But the software isn't free. The trail version leaves a  watermark on the each video.

I'm looking for another way to convert this file correctly so it will work well in Premiere.
Does anyone have any idea about this?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Moshe.

    Hi,
If CS5 handles this right than I  guess that's about it.
Thanks again for both of you.
This is CS3...with the mainconcept plug in trial ....as mentioned earlier...your original source loaded GREAT into the project...and plays great...etc....
The plug in trial gives that logo thing and has a limit of 5min video I think....although I've exported stuff with this and the logo was NOT on the final export...or was much smaller .....dont know if that would influence you on trying the plug in...
But what I mean to say is with cs3 it works great with the original file you supplied as a sample...
( I used this in another thread here where someone was trying to get timecode to run backwards...which is why you see that timecode thing...)
    good luck with everything !

  • CS4 Timeline problems

    Hi all
New to the forum and flash but have managed to create a short animated movie - unfortunatly the duration of the movie is made as 10 fps and last for 29 seconds (290 frames in total) but when I test the movie it plays to 36 seconds. Any body know why this is happening.
    Cheers for any help

    I put the flv movie onto the protfolio via;
    import - import video
(Before this I had used adobe media encoder to create the flv from the .mov of the movie file.)
    in the import window I imported it as;
load external video with playback component.
browsed to the location of the flv file - this was in the file of where all the graphics were I used for the movie, but later changed it (via componenent inspector) to point from within my web files (where I had copyied and pasted it from the previous location).
next during the import I choose a skin.
then once in the library I placed it on the stage on its own timeline.
