CS4 to CS5 audio video synchronization problem

Hello,
I have a issue when i am opening CS4 Premiere Projects (Win) with CS5 Premiere (Mac), the problem is that the sound and the video is not in the correct time place.
Everything is not synchronized and even the videos are not appearing like they should be in Premiere CS5.
In CS4 all is perfect but when i open this CS5 they are not.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance

What are the specs. of the Assets in this Project?
The ideal is to address the OOS (Out Of Sync) at the beginning, which you are doing. However, if thing fail, then this ARTICLE might be useful for fixing the problem down the line.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • 'Source play' and 'audio-video sync' problems with PE8 on fast WIN7 64 bit computer

I am transferring Hi8 videos, about 2 hours long, to my WIN7 64 bit computer with PE8.  [Dell Mobile Precision M4400 Computer Workstation (Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 500GB/4GB); NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, 512MB] I seem to have several problems:
First, after importing the file (.avi), I get a message about ‘dropped frames.’
Secondly, when I try to play the video in the source monitor, the audio plays but the video doesn’t; it only shows the first frame [this is after waiting until the video is ?recognized? ]   I can use the shift-arrow key and see that the video is there.
Thirdly, I can play the .avi file in other players, e.g., avidemux or PE pro CS5 on another computer.  There, I see that the audio and video are not in sync; the audio can be up to 300 ms ahead of the video (as determined using avidemux).
    Questions:
    1.  Why doesn’t the source monitor play the video? Is this a problem with PE8 (latest update as of 3 March 2011) on aWIN7 64 bit computer (intel duo core. 3 GHz).
    2. Is the audio-video sync problem the result of the ‘dropped frames?’ How can PE8 correct this? Avoid this? Or, is it coincidence?

"I think you're telling me you're using a backwards compatible Digital8  camcorder to capture your video as DV-AVIs. Is that right?" YES
"Are you using  Premiere Elements to do this capturing?" YES, AS ABOVE PE8
"Go to the File menu and select Properties. It should show a standard DV codec being used for your video and audio."
WMP v12 is dumb. Under properties, media, it says 'video.'  However, avidemux gave me the information state above: video -- Codec 4CC: dvsd, frame rate: 29.971 fps; audio -- codec: PCM, channels: Stereo, frequency: 48 kHz.
    So, back to the Questions:

  • MSI VOX Audio / Video Sinc problem

    Hi All.
Last week i bought a VOX TV Tuner.  Nice device works well except for what i want it for.
When I try to cpature at Full PAL DVD resolution I get audio / video sinc problems.  The audio is usually ahead of the video.  Half PAL DVD or below  it's fine.
I suspect it is the basic design of the box that is the trouble.  Having the audio feed to the sound card rather than than in the USB2 feed has been a no no ever since the problem was discovered back in the USB 1 days.  USB2 is capable of 400Megbits..
However I contacted another user who has no problems and says there is a patch for Direct x PAL video capture.  Does any one know of this patch or has any one had the same problem as I have??
This device seems so new that there is no info on the net about it..
    TIA.
System :  P4. 2.4 Gig, 512 Meg ram, fast HDs, Direct X 9.0 (have not installed 9.0b yet) Asus Mobo P4Pe.  Matrox Mystique video card. Win 2K SP4

I would chase that up as it sounds promising.

  • Audio Video synchronization issues

    Hi,
I have a video application that I am building - and
previously I used FMS and TCP connections for video. Now expecting
the latency to be much lesser with UDP, I implemented UDP in my
application and stratus as the RTMFP capable server. I used the
sample video phone application's tutorial do a simple sendStream
    and receiveStream for video.
However, unlike the hosted sample application itself, my
audio and video are completely out of synchronization - about 4
secs!! I tried to look at the sample code to see if there were any
special settings that were made. I could not find any.
    My questions:
    1. Did Adobe make any special tweaks in their hosted sample
application? If so, what are they?
    2. Are there any known synchronization issues with using
    RTMFP connections for video?
    3. Does anyone else also face audio video synchronization
    issues?
    4. If none of the above is true, what do you think my
mistakes are? Please let me know if I need to add more information
    to answer this question.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rohan

with RTMFP, video and audio can go out of sync if the data
rate of your stream exceeds your network capacity. video is
currently sent with 100% reliability, so once it's queued for
transmission, it's going to be sent (eventually). video is lower
priority than audio, though, so your audio data gets first dibs on
your network capacity. if the video stream's data rate is higher
than what fits in your network (after audio), the video data will
back up until its send buffer is filled, and new camera frames will
stop getting captured. in the steady state, this can look like a
multi-second offset between the video and audio.
try turning your video rate/quality down so that it fits in
your network capacity. video and audio should stay in sync.
with RTMP, there's one network transmission buffer (TCP's)
for all of the parts of your stream (audio & video). when you
have insufficient network bandwidth, the TCP buffer will eventually
fill up and video frames will stop being captured to compensate. so
while audio and video might remain in sync, the total end-to-end
latency will go up. when using RTMFP, the audio and video have
independent transmission buffers, so in cases of insufficient
network resources, the higher-priority audio should remain more
timely but video may fall behind.

  • Contribute CS4 and CS5 file transfer (publish) problem on Windows 7 64 bit

Have a problem with Contribute CS5 and CS4  on Windows 7 64 bit where upon editing a webiste for example to add a new page (or edit an existing one) and then clicking on "publish" a blank page appears on the website. To explain this further, If i make the required changes to the page and select the option to publish the file later then the file wirtten to the PC appears to be ok and has all the changes, but as soon as I publish it, only a blank page appears on the web server.  ie the upload (ftp) process does happen but the content of the page is being stripped out somewhere during the filt transfer process.
I have editied the same site with CS4 on windows XP without any problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thank you
    Chris

I seem to have solved the issue by downloading this install file
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
    which installs successfully.

Now, I've sifted through this discussion section some and I know this is a common case. So I tried to fix things on my own terms, gathering what other people around here have been suggested. On iChat, the bandwidth is set to No Limit. On iChat's Server Settings (under Account), I changed the port to 443. In System Preferences, I changed Quicktime's streaming speed to 1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN. And, my firewall is turned off.
But it's still giving me the same errors/messages when I try to audio/video chat.
    Help???

    Hi Eurostrike,
If it is AIM 5.9 has she "Tuned" it to her camera and Mic ?
Also has she allowed it as an Exception through the XP firewall ?

  • Video Synchronization Problems

I am having a major problem with video synchronization. I
have a single FLV that is used throughout the presentation. I have
edited viewer.xml and inserted the correct start and stop times,
and everything works perfectly when run from my local machine.
However, when I publish to my webserver, everything breaks. The
video file is reloaded on every slide, and it starts at the
beginning for every one instead of starting at the proper time. Any
    ideas?

Are you republishing to your webserver after you have made
changes in viewer.xml ? If that is true then your xml would be
created again which will not have these changes .
Right method would be to use the published folder(or zipped
    folder ) with updated viewer.xml

  • Audio video adapter problems

Please help me. When I connect my iPad 2 to my t.v via hdmi with my audio video adapter, nothing shows up on my t.v. I have an L.G HDTV. When I connect it to my HDTV it just says no signal. And nothing shows on my t.v. Please help me.

Settings-video-tv signal set to proper format?
Turn tv off, connect the adapter, make sure iPad on and ready, turn tv on.
More than one hdmi port? Try switching ports.

  • Encoding .MOV audio/video skew problem

Just started using PRE 8.0 and am running into problem encoding into QuickTime format only.  The QT encoder fails to synchronize the audio and video tracks.  Encoding an hour long single source video (MPEG SVCD format), the 2 tracks become offset by about 20 seconds.
I suspect this could be due to a rounding error in frame rate calculations during the conversion, so that the converted video stream slows down with respect to the audio (or vice versa).  As this issue only occurs when created QT format, and not when creating Flash, DVD, or windows media files, it is less likely an issue with the source video.
    Thanks for any help/insight

This often happens when you use MPEGs as source files. Particularly if they were originally DVDs or VCDs.
We recommend converting the files to DV-AVIs before you bring them into Premiere Elements. That will solve your problem. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.

  • Audio & Video synchronization in PE4

Audio is late. What steps to do to synchronize it with the video.
    Thanks

    Benjamin,
As Steve points out, this is usually do he AV file. DV-AVI Type I's exhibit out of sync issues often. Xvid & DivX can also, though usually one only get Audio, or Video. Conversion to DV-AVI Type II usually eliminates most sync issues.
Now, it is possible that you can "fix" your sync problem, if it's a constant offset, and doesn't drift over time.
Before you do a lot of cutting of your Clip, Zoom in on your Timeline. Find something that is pretty obvious in your Video, like a CU of someone talking, a Clapper/Slate, an explosion, etc. Turn off Snap (remember to turn it back on, when done). Alt-click on your Audio to Select only it, and not the Video. Now, slide the Audio along to match up with that point in the Video. You may have to experiment a bit, depending on what you have to sync to. I'd also monitor the Audio with a good set of headphones, and expand both the Timeline and the Program Monitor to as large as you can for this.
Once you have the Audio in sync to your visual spot, test the entire Clip, to make sure that the sync stays, and does not drift. If you've got it, then turn Snap back on, and edit. You might want to make a notation of the offset that is required, as it is likely that all other Clips will require the same, or nearly, amount of offset. As Audio sync problems seem to have the Audio late, you might want to add a couple of seconds of Black Video in front of the Clip, to allow you to slide the Audio to the left, to match sync.
The best way to eliminate this issue is to Capture in PE from a miniDV tape camera via FW, creating a DV-AVI Type II file, or convert your Assets to this, before Importing into PE.

  • Video synchronization problem

    Hi,
I am building an application that must play 2 videos in sync.
The videos are streamed using RTMP.
One of the videos is shorter then the other one and it must play/pause when the main video reaches predefined time key points.
The problem is that if the application remains in an idle state for a longer time (the videos are playing, but there is no user interaction) the second video breaks, usualy at my next seek operation, but sometime even if no seek operation is performed.
By "second video breaks", I mean the:
    - secondVideo.currentTime propertie returns NaN
    - secondVideo.mx_internal::videoPlayer.bufferLength returns NaN
    - secondVideo.mx_internal::videoPlayer.state is buffering
    - no PLAYBACK_ERROR event is dispatched
    - I can't pause/play the secondVideo anynore;
My solution would be to reset the video and seek to correct time, but this operation takes some time and it's not really an option.
What I'm more interested in, is what can cause the videoPlayer to return these values.
I'm using Flex SDK 4.5, tryied with 4.0 also - same problem.
    Thanks!

For starters, nice topic you have for a Uni dessertation (which Uni is it? i'm an undergraduate myself :) )
Secondly, fear not :p There is a way of doing this, but it might take a while to get it through. I'll try and give you a basic clue for JMF, and you'll have to go on from there on your own (by trying out stuff and all).
    A) Make a list with those check boxes that you want, name them the way you like and make sure to add the additional functionality (if any).
    B) When the user wants to play between some players (and checks on some check boxes), find out which check boxes have been checked (if chkBox1.isChecked() bla bla bla). For those checkBoxes, you will manipulate the corresponding players.
    C) When it comes to synchronization of the players you will use the TimeBase and TimeFunctions that JMF supports. A simple way of doing this is by saying: player1.setTimeBase(player2.getTimeBase()); and do that for all the players that you have at hand (the ones that have been selected in your case). The thing is that you must control, in this way, each player individually, which might be a difficult thing to do (any of the 6 players might post an event, and you need to find out who was it, by also making sure that other players are informed of the event, in case you need to take some actions).
I would advise you to download the JMF API Guide (downloadable from here: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/specdownload.html) and read through the Synchronizing multiple media streams section).

  • Audio/Video Synch Problem

I have the motorola HD DVR and am using it with the Zenith 19" LCD HDTV I finally got from Verizon.  After watching a channel for a few minutes, the audio and video go out of synch.  If I switch the channels back and forth the problem is corected for a few minutes.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

In regards to an A/V sync problem, I've just noticed in the last two or three days that the voice is no longer synced with the lips on both of my DVR equiped TVs.  One's an HD unit (but TV is Std) and the other is an Std unit.  Will rebooting the units fix or improve this problem?  Is there another way to correct this if that doesn't do it?

  • CS4 Exporting Trouble - Audio / Video Sync

I'm having a lot of trouble exporting from Premiere CS4. I have a 5 minute video project shot in 1920x1080 and I'm just trying to export it into a format that can support its HD. When I try the H.264 BluRay preset, though, the audio and video are hugely off sync from each other. I've exported smaller portions using the Windows Media Video format, and that looks great, but it won't render my entire video without the export failing due to an error.
Is there any way I can get this exported without selling myself short on quality?

Dang, for most users, the MainConcept H.264 has been about perfect.
Maybe another user will have some ideas on the OOS issues. Most of those seem to revolve around Apple's H.264, but that is not the case with your Project. Sorry that I could not help.

  • Transitions cause audio/ video sync problem

Lets see if I can explain this one. Its certainly an odd problem.
I have an iMovie project, with around a couple hundred photos in it, and some short video clips. Im putting transitions in between everything.
At some point I noticed that, sometimes, I'll add a transition after a video clip, and then the last few seconds still have my audio from that clip but the video changes to a photo 2 photos later in the time line. Then it changes to the next photo after the clip.
Im using the latest iMovie HD, and Quicktime Pro 7.5.5, and Mac OS X 10.5.4.

    Hi
    I do like this:
    • Select the video-clip
    • goto Advance menu - select extract audio
    • now apply transition
    • adjust audio clip

  • Audio/video sync problem

I use a standalone home-theater type dvd recorder to make recordings. I don't know too much about the video editing world yet, I only know how to do what I need to do.
I had some problems opening my dvd files with PE7, so as per advice I received in these forums this is my process:
I copy the vob files to the hard drive, use a batch file to join them together, use streamclip to convert to avi format that PE7 reads. From there I do my PE7 editing.  This has always worked well, until today the original recording was done a little different.
Usually, I have 1 recording session. Hit record, hit stop, finalize, done.  But today, I made a mistake and hit stop too soon, so I started recording a 2nd session. I don't see why this should be a problem, but this is the only thing different that's happened today.
So this is what it's doing in PE7 now. The video from the 1st recording session is fine, once I get to the portion of the video that's part of the 2nd recording session, the audio continues normally but the video is moving very fast.  Later on in the video, the video part resumes moving normally, but is of course playing at the wrong place so the sync is still out.
The original dvd plays fine, it's only on the computer this is happening.  What can I do?
    thanks

Also, how do I fix this capture to make it right?  The dvd I'm ripping from is good, but why is my ripping process not working as it always does? thanks
Unfortunately, I do not know the programs, or the processes that you used to rip the DVD.
My strongest recommendation would be to use a bridge device, to do the capture from the DVD player. I use a Turtle Beach, but would recommend the Canopus/Grass Valley. The biggest problem with going from a DVD to an editable file and then probably back to an edited DVD is that you end up with two MPEG-2 conversions. The quality hit is major, IMO.
Here is a ripping workflow, that might yield in-sync files, though dealing with MPEG-2 files often yields OOS issues.
As for the OOS issues, when you have a dynamic OOS, you will need to repeat the process on smaller pieces of the movie. The Scissors/Razor tool will be used, and you will need to cut your Clips and adjust the OOS for the "pieces." Obviously, a constant OOS is easier, as you make one adjustment that works for the whole Timeline. With dynamic/drifting OOS, you must do this incrementally.
As MPEG-2 files often yield a myriad OOS issues, I refrain from using them and will convert all to DV-AVI Type II w/ 16-bit 48KHz PCM/WAV, prior to Import. I hate doing extra work and dynamic/drifting OOS is a lot of work.
If at all possible, I would keep DVD (and MPEG-2 files) out of the workflow, until you go to Burn the final delivery DVD-Video, but that is just me.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
