CS4 upgrade work plan needed.

I will have CS4 upgrade in my hands within two weeks (sooner according to my supplier)
My dilemma will be when to install (or otherwise) because I never do not have projects in post prod progress. Five currently.
Common wisdom is do not change horses midstream. Previously I have installed to a new puter with each major upgrade of Premiere. I would prefer not to do so this time as the last puter is very currently specd and frankly - I do not need to maintain and set up another one. (Will do so if really necessary tho')
I need a workplan - so my questions for now are:
Can CS3 and CS4 co-exist? ie. plan is to edit new projects in CS4 and keep current projects in CS3
Are CS3 Projects opening properly without issue in CS4? ie in case CS33 and CS4 upgrade do not coexist or is not possible in an upgrade install.
What would you guys do?

I have seen no problems with them coexisting. From another thread do not remove CS3 after installing CS4.

I have Adobe CS4 from an "upgrade". Will these adobe programs work if I upgrade to Lion? Please, need an answer ASAP, so I know whether to make my next computer a Mac or a PC!!!! I also have an IMac Intel Core duo 3.06, two IPads and a new Iphone. and now I am done with Apple products I guess, if I have to update to Lion to use ICloud with a computer. Especially if Lion doesn't support my current expensive suite of CS4(UPGRADE), and other Apps. What on earth is Apple trying to do, phase out of computers totally? Have a relative who works for Apple, and no one can figure out why the company is so favoring the PC people. The only thing I can come up with is that Win7 is a far superior program to OS10.6.8, and is likely vastly superior to the current joke of "Lion", and the upcoming "Mountain Lion". At least Snow Leopards have some dignity, and honesty in their "live" form. "Lion" is aptly named after an animal widely known for killing and eating cubs of its own species. Mountain Lions are sneaky, creepy stalkers, who attack suddenly without notice, and kill animals off efficiently and quickly. Male Mt.Lions also are known to kill the young of their own species, even their own cubs. I guess these new OS's are aptly named, as they certainly are killing off those who have been faithful to Apple for so long.
I can buy a PC running Win 7, with the speed, programs, etc., that I need, for far less than a new, comparable Mac, which it seems will require me to purchase all new expensive Apps. (Adobe CS+), etc.
Why is Apple unable to either 1) offer its previously totally faithful adherants the ability to use its ICloud service using 10.6.8, which only came out 9 months ago (while Win 7 and Vista users can use the service easily), or at least make its new OS, work with expensive Apps owned by people, which work on 10.6.8, but will not work, so I hear, on "Lion" (and presumably not on "Mountain Lion" either).   Apple is/has turned into a predator of the worst sort, without a single thought or care about previously faithful customers.   WHY?
Also, off my wagon and back to my question; will an "UPGRADE" of Adobe CS4 work with the latest updated "Lion"? Thanks!

I went to that page. Basically, it didn't specifically answer my question, or I am too dense to find the answer. I understand that there are a few problems with Photoshop, which is the main use (of mine). I could live with what it says. I also found that there were problems with CS4, and using the brush tool, when I updated to 10.6.8. Found a fix to that by updating my Quicktime. Why that works, I have no idea. I am not a computer whiz, in fact at the other end of the spector, but read on a discussion that this updating of Quicktime worked, so tried it, and it did!
This community is a life saver for me. I live in rural Wyoming (I guess all of Wyoming is rural.....) and no one knows anything about Macs. All my problems have been solved by you great people! And I thank you !
My present concern is: I read somewhere else, that if my version of Photoshop, which is CS4, was purchased as an "upgrade", which it was, then maybe it will not upload to "Lion", as maybe the disk (upgrade), I have, may use Rosetta, which is NOT included in "Lion".   What I have read is that I would have to have a "new" (not an upgrade) version of CS4 in order for it to work with "Lion".   Anyone out there know the answer???? Photoshop users?????

I love my Macs, but really am irritated that the friends I have tried to talk into buying Mac computers, but didn't, now can enjoy all the advantages of ICloud, with an older version of their computer program (Win 7 OR(!!!) VISTA, and I cannot !!!! Here I sit, with my 2 beloved Macs, both fairly new, 2 IPads, a new IPhone, and I am the one that cannot use ICloud?????? Was it in fact made for PC people, who have become Apple consumers through iPhone and iPad, and not made for the faithful, longtime Apple consumers???? HELP!!!!

CS4 Upgrades work from CS2?

This is a followup to my question about CS2 on Leopard.
When I look at the CS4 upgrades, they all say "from CS3". Will they also work from CS2?
Is this what the reference to "tiered pricing" was about?

As Buko says, don't buy the CS3 to CS4 upgrade. There is a separate CS and CS2 upgrade which you must purchase.
The price is the same as the CS3 to CS4 upgrade until the end of April.

I would like to upgrade to CS4 but my version of CS3 is an educational license. I don't want to pay for an upgrade if it will not work with an educational license. Will I run into problems?

I just installed it and ran it fine. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Make sure it is a clean install from a fresh "boot". I ran into problems the first time when I tried to install it right after I installed another program. I simply uninstalled it.....which took a long long time, but after it was removed and I rebooted, everything went fine.

Installing InDesign CS4 upgrade from Pagemaker 7.0

I have purchased InDesign CS4 upgrade from Pagemaker 7.0. I have also purchased a new computer on which I have installed it. When I run
CS4 it offers me a trial version or enter a serial number. I entered my PM7 serial number but that doesn't work. Do I need to
have PM7 installed before I install CS4 for this to all work? If so, do I now need to uninstall CS4, install PM7, reinstall CS4 and then uninstall PM7 after it all works?? When I've used an upgrade before it hasn't need the actual files to be on the PC just the serial number. Running Windows XP Professional. Adobe support didn't help at all!!

I think you may need to call customer service. There have been a number of reports of trouble installing the PM to ID upgrades, often due to odd serial numbers carried forward from earlier PM installations.
That said, I think the first time you are asked for a serial number it is probably the number of the CS4 upgrade that you need (since the other option is as a trial). Presumably you have that number becasue you paid for the license. After that I would expect the installer to look for PM or ask for the disk or serial number. Having the PM disk will probably help.

Photoshop was the last version compiled for the PPC cpu, not Intel. 10.6.8 kept it going with the Rosetta emulator, gone since 10.7.
So, no CS2 won't work under 10.10
CS6 (permanent license) or Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan is the way to go.

Will a Pro 1.5 serial number work with a CS4 upgrade?

I have 11 hours to decide whether or not to buy this CS4 upgrade. I have premiere pro 1.5 and a legit serial number for it. It says you just need a legit serial number for an earlier version, but I wanted to make sure that my pro 1.5 serial will work!

Provided the Premiere 1.5 is a full version it will work - so will Encore 1.5 full.

I just received my CS4 upgrade, and it appears that Illustrator is the only app. which requires 2GHz processor. I use Illustrator occasionally, and usually with <20 layers. If I upgrade, will I be able to use the Illustrator app, even if my processor is only 1.8GHz? If not, is it easy enough to downgrade the Illustrator CS4 back to CS3 and run the remainder of the programs as CS4?

I would say, if Ill CS4 doesn't work... just keep using CS3. (you don't need to uninstall CS3 before installing CS4.)You may or may not uninstall Ill CS4 depending on your choice and disk space.
But what about upgrading just the processor?

It sounds like your iMac display will turn off unexpectedly, but you can tell the computer is still on because you hear audio.
I found an article with steps to troubleshoot issues with displays. This article is for internal and external displays, so you can skip any steps referring to an external display. I recommend reviewing the full article, but this step specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.

There is none. Whatever you do to get rid of the older versions will inevitably do damage to shared components and other stuff of the new versions as well. That's just how it is with this approach... Uninstall the older versions, run the cleaner tool then reinstall CC 2014.

Upgrade CS4 to CS5 - Will CS4 Still Work?

I have CS4 Web Premium on a Windows Vista X64 machine. I have downloaded trial of CS5 Web Premium and everything seems to work fine (i.e. both versions are running on this computer and seem to work fine).
My question is: If I upgrade to CS5, will CS4 still work?
The main reason I ask is that I have onOne software Plug-in suite 4.5 running on Photoshop CS4. onOne is charging $149 to upgrade to a version that works on CS5. I still want to be able to use onOne, but, at this point, not enough to pay their upgrade price.
I appreciate anyone that can offer some input.
