CS4 - Way to inexpesively buy CS3?
I went from CS2 to CS4 and am wondering if there is an inexpensive
way to buy CS3? I don't understand scripting and can't get it to work
with CS4 making the working area window the entire width of the desktop.
Is there some way to inexpensively buy CS3 after I bought CS4 upgrade?
Thanks.
Bob, I think I read the question backwards. If I did there should still be a current solution. I see two options on the Mac.
1. Standard Mac window (combined with the panels) fills the entire screen. This is what can't be changed to open with a smaller window.
2. Selecting "Applications Frame" which only Mac users can (since PC's default and only condition is Frame). This frame can be resized and rremains sticky.
Am I accurate on this?

Opening CS4 fIles on a second monitor, the way it worked in CS3.
This drove me nuts for well over a year. I guess this is a "tip" of sorts for dual monitor users who recently switched from CS3 to CS4 and expect files to open on the 2nd monitor.
With the advent of CS4, the ability to automatically open a few dozen files across my 2nd monitor became impossible unless the Application Frame was set to cover the 2nd monitor with its opaque grey background. What I missed was the ability to have a totally unencumbered view of the 2nd monitor's desktop..the way it worked in CS3 and earlier….and most importantly: to have anything I opened, appear on the 2nd monitor.
Without the Application Frame active and positioned to cover my 2nd monitor, loading files would always appear under the Palettes on my 1st (smaller) monitor. (It's the way I work. 30" 2nd monitor on my left and main 24" in front of the keyboard).
A couple of days ago, I accidentally clicked the yellow "Hide" button in the corner of the Application Frame. As expected, it hid the Application Frame into the Dock and left the window free.
Here's the unexpected thing: Loading a file (or multiple files) continue to tile diagonally down the 2nd monitor, the way they do when the Application Frame was visible.
It's almost perfect…the tiling spacing is still larger than it was in CS3 and the tiling starts where the bottom of the Application Frame's menu bar was positioned before it was hidden. But it's as close to CS3 dual monitor behavior workaround as I've found.
It'd sure be nice if Adobe implemented a "Hide Application Frame" View Menu item in CS5.The screen dimensions are "right," but I don't want it to use up any more space on-screen than is in the window.

Can you still Buy CS3 Illustrator
Can you still buy CS3 Illustrator ??? If so does anyone have a recommended site to buy it from??
For those who upgraded from CS2 to CS3 did you see any advantage??
I am looking to upgrade in hopes of correcting several software errors. No officialy you cant buy CS3 annymore.
But you still can buy CS4 i think and than you have CS5 for free.
And yes CS3, 4 and 5 are way better than CS2. CS2 was the worst CS version there was even CS1 was better than CS2. -
Student User: Buying CS3 and Macromedia
I am a student and I'm considering buying CS3. As best I
understand, students could use CS2 educational even to make money,
with the exception of the Macromedia suite, which is only for
"educational" purposes and not for "commercial." (This is what I
understand from
https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?event=displayEduConditions&store=OL S-EDU
and
http://www.adobe.com/education/purchasing/faq.html
quoted below.) My question is whether CS3 will keep the same
policy. I'd like to do some paid work using both the design suite
(Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and the Macromedia suite (or at least
Dreamweaver). But I have to figure out whether I need to buy just
the design suite educational version and get the Dreamweaver
commercial version, or whether I need to get both educational or
both commercial.
In other words, the basic question is whether anyone knows
which route the new educational EULA will take:
1. Adobe programs can be used commercially, but Macromedia
programs can't.
2. Both educational versions can be used commercially.
3. Neither educational version can be used commercially.
If anyone already has the newest versions, maybe they can
just look at the End User License Agreement and help me out.

Student question
"I'm very interested in buying the Education version of Adobe
Creative Suite, but first I want to know if the software can be
used to produce work for paying customers once I am working in the
industry, or do I have to buy a different version of Creative Suite
once I'm working in the industry?”
Answer
Good news! You can use Adobe Education software (any title!)
to produce commercial/professional paid-for work when you leave
school, or even while you are in school. In this regard, Adobe does
not limit how student software is used. So students can use it to
learn and to make money!
(Of course, students must agree to the terms of the End User
Licensing Agreement — which appears during installation
— just as every software customer must do.)

What are the restrictions in using education versions of
Adobe products?
A customer may only purchase one copy of any product.
Education versions of Former Macromedia products only (Studio 8,
Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.) are intended for instructional and
administrative purposes only and may not be used for any commercial
purpose. The way I read it, the new CS3 package with dreamweaver now
comes under the
Adobe policy - which states that Adobe educational software
cane be used for
commercial use. It also states that you can upgrade the
educational
software to the commercial version. So if you buy CS3 Web
student version
then you can upgrade to CS4 commercial when you have finished
college
(assuming that the next version will be CS4...)
Sounds like a good deal to me (saving >50%)

Buying CS3 - installing Photoshop on one PC, Flash on another?
Hi guys,
I have a question -- I'm thinking of buying CS3 Web Premium, but I'm wondering if I am able to install a certain program (like Photoshop) on one computer, and have the other ones installed and activated on another? Basically, I use Illustrator, Flash, and Dreamweaver, and my brother uses Photoshop.
Is this allowed by purchasing the CS3 Web Premium package? If not, any suggestions as to what the most cost-effective way to accomplish this would be?
Thanks!

I live in Australia and I am trying to buy an album by SNSD, a Kpop group. It is not available on the Australian iTunes. All of their other albums are.
Why is this and is there a way I can buy it off the American store? (The album is called The Boys)Well how much does the album cost? Because I have an issue with this except I live in America and I wish to purchase something from the Australian store... perhaps I can gift you your album and you could gift me my album.

Missing fonts in CS4. Works fine in CS3.
Hello,
When I open a file created with Fireworks CS3 that contains a
particular typeface. Fireworks prompts me that the system cannot
find this font. However, the font is active on my system and when
opening the document in CS3 it opens without any errors. If I
choose to update legacy text in CS4 it does not read the typeface
name the same as it did in CS3.
http://wonderfulunion.com/dropbox/missingfonts.jpg
Does the new Fireworks CS4 read fonts differently from CS3?
Such as by family name vs. font name.
When I try to access the particular typeface I'm using. It
does not show the weights that I had been using in CS3.
For instance the typeface I was using was "Vag Rounded".
This typeface shows up as:
18 VAG Rounded Black 09390
18 VAG Rounded Bold 07390
18 VAG Rounded Light02390
18 Vag Rounded Thin 55390
A total of 4 available fonts.
In CS3 this shows up as all 4 potential options.
However, CS4 it only shows up as VAGRounded.
I have posted a screenshot of how the font menu
differentiates between the programs.
http://wonderfulunion.com/dropbox/cs3_cs4_fontissue.jpg
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
DemetreSarthak,
Unfortunately, that box is empty. I do understand what you
are referring to on a typeface and it's unique weights listed.
However, nothing is in the box.
Thanks.

Anyone else? CS4 running much slower than CS3?
I just upgraded to CS4 from CS3. All of the applications are running much, much slower than CS3, particularly InDesign. My computer is literally fresh out of the box; specs below. Software and patches up to date. Thinking of uninstalling CS4 and reverting back to CS3. Any suggestions/feedback?
MacBook Pro 15"
2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4GB memory
320GB 5400-rpm hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor with 256MB
1440 by 900 pixels
Snow Leopard OX
Purchased CS4 Master Collection. Other software installed includes iLife, iWork, Office for Mac.I'm not using In Design yet, but for Photoshop and Acrobat my sense is that they are fast or faster than CS3, and Snow Leopard has reduced the launch time for all my apps compared with Leopard.
Yes there are issues with running Adobe apps with Snow Leopard, but some of them are the same issues when running CS3 apps with Leopard--and in any event, these are, I believe, all crashing bugs, not things that slow down responsiveness. I personally have had only a few problems with Design Std CS4 apps + Snow Leopard. -
Our computers were upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. When we try to access CS5 we get an error. We originally had CS3 and upgraded to CS5 now the error message wants us to choose a qualifying product which seems to be CS4 however we went from CS3 to CS5. Can anyone assist

CS4 Install does not remove CS3
I installed CS4 Web Premium 4 over CS3 Web Premium and CS3 still exists in the folders, but not in the "remove programs" file.
How can I remove CS3? And its programs?I do not intend to imply that you can use the DW apps simultaneously, <br />though. Upgraded to CS4, but can't uninstall CS3
I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites). I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4. So far, so good. But... Now I can't uninstall CS3! It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs).
I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs. (And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.) But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it!
To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:
- Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed
- Installed Creative Suite CS4
- Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3
- Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs
- Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4
- Now I can't uninstall CS3
Thanks,
SteveYou have created a fairly unusual situation!
I would first try runnning the CS3 Clean Script to see if that can remove it without damaging the CS4 installation. It may not.
Otherwise I can only think of:
Un-install CS4 normally
Run CS4 clean script, a couple of times if necessary.
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
It should also detect CS3 remnants , if not run CS3 clean script.
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Manually remove any Adobe folders remaining – they may be in more places than C:\Program files!
Run a good registry cleaner like CCleaner.
Start again with a fresh installation. -
Buy cs3 upgrade now with cs4 nearly here?
I was about to buy the CS3 DW upgrade and learned CS4 was
around the corner. Does anyone know if Adobe has any kind of
program that once a product upgrade is announced (CS4) they will
upgrade any purchases made for the purchase of a previous upgrade
(CS3) during some time window before CS4 is shipped? I would like
to upgrade to CS3 (from DW8) but don't want to buy 2 upgrades
within months of each other.

In the past, there has been a grace period (after the
announcement of the
new version) during which you can purchase the current
version and get a
free upgrade to the about-to-be-released version. Adobe
usually nominates a
date after which the free upgrade applies (and before which
it does not
apply).
The CS4 announcement is scheduled for Sep 23 so at present
there is no grace
period.
Perhaps wait until after the announcement and see what
offers, and cutoff
dates, are introduced by Adobe.
They'll be keenly aware that potential purchasers are
probably delaying
their purchase until after the Sep 23 announcement so I would
expect them to
announce their upgrade deals and grace periods fairly
promptly in order to
kickstart sales again.

Buy CS3 now, get CS4 free?
I haven't read anything about this -- but what is the free upgrade grace period for CS4?
Yeah,
Well, I've got Camera Obscura, versions ii up through the final XXVII with Leonardo Da Vinci's original charcoal tracings (c. 1500) of images in Florence. Version XV.i was the first to support resizing and skewing by simply moving the tracing table to or from the pinhole opening in the side wall of the room.
Talk about technical breakthroughs, it supported RGB and CMYK out of the box from the first. But the images were kinda dim and it only worked in the daytime. Unlimited resolution, though.
On cloudy days it sucked, but the "dark room" could be used for other "activities" then.

CS4 Master Collection Upgrade-Uninstall CS3 Master?
I am wondering if when I receive my Master Collection Upgrade, whether I need to uninstall my CS3 Master Collection. I want to research this in advance, to be sure I don't go through the mess I did when installing the CS3 Master Collection.
I realize I may have to give my serial etc for the CS4 to take, and that's no problem, but I have read reports around the net of CS3 left remaining intact on the computer, or conflicts arising.
Can anyone advise on the best way to do this upgrade?
I am on Vista Ultimate....not sure it's so Ultimate :|
Thank you for any advice in advance. :)
Ana RThe only program which conflicts is Acrobat and the CS4 installer will remove that anyway. So you can leave CS3 installed.
