CS4 Win 7 64bit video capture problem

On my win 7 64 bit new installation of CS4 my Premier or OnLocation would not control my capture video devices.
The solution turned out to be simple but not something I found on any help forum.
Go to the device manager and open the IEEE 1395 Bus host controllers. It probably has some manufacture device drive listed. Right click and select update driver software, then select browse my computer and install drivers manually. You should get a selection of drivers. Select OHCI compliment host controller (legacy) and this will install, cause a re-start and should then render the capture device fully working.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into your ideas. I don't have screen saver on and no Nero, iTunes was downloaded with Quicktime and I beleive Win7 uses Roxio, I will check these out.
I put the hard drive docking station back on the XP windows quad core computer, the project was edited on this machine.
Encore burned the dvd  complete EXCEPT now no sound, only the menu sound. When I play the timeline there's no sound. This seems to happen when I make a change in PPRO and then go back to Encore. I then export the audio from PPRO and bring it into Encore as an asset, drop it on audio 2 and then all is fine. I did that just now and still hear no audio. I've been using Encore for a year and no troubles.  Glad I make the SD dvds 1st before the HD so I don't waste blu ray discs.
My win7 computer is a Dell with Win7 Ultimate, 12 GB ram, i7 920 processor, 1TB C drive and I use external drives to edit on in a docking bay with esata cable.

  • Ti4800SE-VTD8X & WDM video capture problem...

sheeesh... I did everything I know to solve the problem... I read every thread on this help forum having the word "WDM" using the search engine and also on other webpages and forums. I can see that I am not the only one having problem with the WDM drivers
Can anyone help me with this  ?(  :
The WDM driver fails to load and make my system boot up time to around 45 seconds to 1 minute which is normally booting in less than 18 seconds without the WDM driver installed. In the "Device Manager", I see a nice lil " ! " on the "nVidia WDM Video Capture (Universal)" codec.
Here is what I did to date :
    1) I had an MSI Ti4200-VTD8X on a different setup computer and had the same problem. I changed my 250 power supply to a 350 watts as I read it might solve some problem but it did not.
    2) I exchanged the Ti4200 for a brand new MSI GeForce4 Ti4800SE-VTD8X (MS-8900) and STILL have the same problem
    3) I completely change my "old" P4 1.8 to a brand new setup (see at bottom) AND STILL have the same problem.
    4) Why did I buy an nVidia product instead of ATI ?   dunno...
    5) I have tried to uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall... huh ?  ?(  oh yeah, the nVidia WDM drivers 1.21 and 1.22 still doesn't work. I even tried old WDM drivers as some said solved their problem. Installed 1.04, still the same problem.
    6) I have tried the WDM from MSI (was happy to see a newer version 1.27) and disaster  8o  computer crash with a nice blue screen and reset itself as soon XP loads this famous WDM driver during boot sequence. Had to start in safe mode using the last known working version... At least, that worked...
    7) The only way I can make this crappy driver to works (and that is at 50%) is this way
    a) in the device manage, I right clic the faulty codec (that XP kindly took the time to open for me to show me that this is not working...) and go to "update the driver"
    b) then I click "install from a specified location"
    c) then I click "do not search, I will chose the driver to install"
    d) then I can see "nVidia WDM Video Capture (Universal)" in the list so I click on it
    e) click "next" button
    f) XP reinstall the driver withtout the " ! " once I go back in the "Device Manager".
The only thing with that is that it is unstable. Sometimes it might work for 1 hour, sometimes 10 minutes. What it does is it completely crash the application which is using the WDM, for instance InterVideo WinProducer. And here is the kind and gentle warning message box from XP saying : "InterVideo WinProducer has to shut down. We are sorry blah blah blah blah..."   and of course you lose any recordings you were capturing or working on...
If I reboot the system, the codec is once again not loaded properly.
So, can some one help me with this ???
    Thank you !  :D

Try and download demo version, and see if you have use for it. I would like to use it, when I want, to watch DVD on my TV.
So now we need MSI or nVidia to make a WDM driver that works with nVidia VGA 44.03 driver.
    Thanks man !
I have tried the TV Tool and quite frankly, I don't really like it... For the moment that is... It messed up a little the video settings like resolution and refresh rate. I have had numerous errors also saying to update to the latest version but you already told me about that.
I have noticed something with 41.07 driver that I lost a nice feature that might interest you ! In fact, with this feature, I think you would not need the TV Tool.
I had the option before to maxize the TV out to full screen when the DVD player started or when I watched any video format.
I can have the Windows Media Player (using nVidia nDVD for DVD) running minimized on my main VGA monitor and get the S-Video out run full screen which was really nice. Sadly, this option looks to be nowhere to find with the Detonator 41.07 version.  :(
I don't know if there will be a serious revision about the newest Detonator drivers so it can support our card with full features like the full screen one...
When you fix a problem, there is a new one that come out  :O
If you get any hint on how to complaint at MSI or nVidia, it would be great to let them know that something has changed since the v.41.07 that makes a lot of nVidia users having problems with the WDM issue.
Thanks again, at least, I can capture some video ! But not able to watch it full screen anymore on the TV out
    Let's keep in touch !
    See ya !

  • Having tbl making dvd-encore cs4,win 7,64bit

looked on forum for win 7 encore cs4  Win 7 troubles and found 2, turn off power saver and download some Roxie file. Did both but still freezes, not responding and have to end session, one at 12 min left, and now 2 min left. Also can't eject dvd, have to turn off computer.  This is a SD dvd, 90 mins total time, the 1st encore project with new i7 computer, --last night it did burn it but the last 10 mins weren't there. Transcode is automatic. Any ideas--I'll see if I can work on this project in my XP computer, never had any tbl with XP....

  • [GeForceFX] FX5600XT-VTDR128 Video capture problem

I am trying to find out if anyone has been able to get the capture (WDM) driver successfully installed for MSI FX5600XT on XP/SP2.
I tried both the MSI & NVIDIA drivers, but always get a message saying "Cannot start device code 10".
The current MSI display driver is version 7772, and the capture driver is 4.05.
should I try an older WDM driver ?
    Any advice will be appreciated.

Is the WDM driver affected in any way by what display driver is installed ?
The last WDM driver I installed is 2.13 and after the system rebooted, there were 2 devices that poped up, The WDM A/V crossbar which installed OK, and the WDM video capture(universal) which has the "Code 10" error.
what is the A/V crossbar and do I need it ?

  • CS4 to CS5 audio video synchronization problem

    Hello,
I have a issue when i am opening CS4 Premiere Projects (Win) with CS5 Premiere (Mac), the problem is that the sound and the video is not in the correct time place.
Everything is not synchronized and even the videos are not appearing like they should be in Premiere CS5.
In CS4 all is perfect but when i open this CS5 they are not.
    Any solution?
    Thanks in advance

What are the specs. of the Assets in this Project?
The ideal is to address the OOS (Out Of Sync) at the beginning, which you are doing. However, if thing fail, then this ARTICLE might be useful for fixing the problem down the line.
    Good luck,

  • Video capture problem

Hi, I'm using a 1 TB External LaCie HDD. I want to capture video from MiniDV tapes through a DV Deck, directly on to the LaCie.
The problem is, my Mac Mini has only one Firewire 400 port & the Lacie also has only one Firewire 400 port (it has two Firewire 800 ports though). Additionally, the DV Deck I'm using only has a 4-pin Firewire port.
Please advise how I can make this configuration work.

You could daisy chain the DV deck to the LaCie HD to your Mac Mini: use a FW400 to FW800 cable to connect one FW800 port of the HD to the FW400 port of your Mac, and use a 4pin to 6pin FW400 cable to connect the DV deck to the only FW400 port of the HD.
This assumes that the DV deck works when daisy chained with the LaCie; in theory it should, but there are some devices (e.g. some Canon cameras) that are known to misbehave in such configuration. This might not be a problem for you: if you get the cables you need you may just try and see the results.

  • Picture / Video capturing problem with Nokia 5233

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem when I capture a picture/video with my new Nokia 5233 phone I bought yesterday.
    1. When I try to capture a video, nothing is visible on the phone screen. I click on Record button and the shooting starts and then I click on it again and it stops. But I when it tries save the video it gives an error "Unexpected error occurred. Please restart your phone".
    2. I reboot the phone. But I face the same problem. I face the same problem while capturing pictures.
I have tried following as a measure to solve the problem but no success till now:
    1. Reboot the phone: tried it more than 20 times. Does not work
    2. Soft Restart: Removed the battery for 1 minute and powered the phone back. Does not work
    3. Restore Factory Settings: Restored the phone to factory settings. Does not work.
    4. I checked my firmware version. Its 12.1.089, RM-625. I think no firmware upgrade is available at present
Please advise what steps should I follow to cure the problem.
Please also let me know in case you are facing a similar problem with your device.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Solved!

Went to Nokia care. They took 10 days... but could not correct the problem...
Then again left it there for 7-8 days... finally got my phone replaced...

  • Not another video capture problem

I know people are sick of hearing about problems with capturing video, but my problem is an easy fix I think.
I have 2 computers: Powerbook G4 and a Macbook Pro, and my old powerbook can detect my cam for capturing, but my macbook pro won't. Both have the same exact FCP software and I'm using the same 9 pin firewire 800 cord for both. my vid cam is a cannon GL1.
So I'm guessing its gotta be a quicktime problem?

Yes, I've tried firewire basic. There's gotta be a way to fix it without having to buy a firewire card.
Get another (non canon) camera or remove the external drive and capture directly to your internal.

  • 4200 128 8X VIVO - Video Capture Problem

I occasionally get this groovy white box that covers a good half of my screen when I attempt to capture video from my video camera..
My wife has finally decided (after a good year) to start hounding me about where those christmas DVDs are that I promised her..   :hypecrite:
after a little hunting it appears this may be some copy protection scheme for video cassettes?
    l'il help?!

    I'm new to this!
FX5600 on a P4 2.6, 521pc3200 RAM and plenty pf fast HD space.
    WDM driver 2.13.
My captured files are uncompressed and have data rates of 20mb/s.  I have installed several codes such as DivX and Hufy(?) but although they turn up in the VFW compressor list and can be selected they are not shown in the spec of the capture window and are not used.
Anyone out there having any success doing this. It works into Windows Movie maker but I really want to use Premiere.

  • This is the strangest video capture problem I have ever seen!

    Background: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8362257#8362257
Problem: No preview in FCP or iMovie but controls work
Solution: have the tape running first!
This is nuts Can anyone explain the technology (or lack thereof) behind this one. I almost lost my mind until I found the referenced post. Thank buddha for Apple discussions!

  • After Effects CS4 install on Win XP 64bit OS

I am trying to install the After Effects CS4 trial unto a Win XP 64bit OS.  There was only one trial download available and figure that if there is a 64-bit trial versions, it would be packaged with this also.
The installer designates installation location as "C:/Program/Adobe" which is correct as this is the 64bit program folder location.  However, it actually drops the application in "C:/Program Files/Adobe (x86)".  Also when After Effects CS4 is ran, it shows up as a 32-bit app in the Windows Task Manager process list (labeled as "AfterFX.exe *32")
If possible, is there a way to get After Effects CS4 properly recognized as a 64bit app under XP64?  I know this OS is not fully support per system requirements, but managed to install Photoshop CS4 as a 64bit app without issues.
Another thing that confuses me also is the After Effects CS4Readme/technote:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405854http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405854#_Toc162848026
    Per known issues ...
"When installing on 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, an incorrect default installation location appears. The application will be installed in the correct location: C:\Program Files (x86). (#BG064131)"
Does this mean After Effects CS4 is a 32-bit only app?

Thanks for the quick clarification.  I figured since video is so memory intensive, After Effects and Premier Pro would naturally be the first apps in their lineup to receive full 64bit compatability.  Seems Photoshop CS4 is the only full 64bit app in their productivity line up.
Sébastien, thanks for breaking down the benefits of still going with a 64bit OS for AE!

  • Problems with downgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 7 64bit on Satellite S70-A-11H

    Hi,
My daughter already has a Tosh laptop with Win 7 64bit which is several years old and has seen better days, so for Christmas I bought her a new S70-A-11H notebook with Win 8.1 pre-installed.
She hates it. In fact she will not use the new laptop at all unless it has Win 7 on it.
For people that do not use a tablet or a Windows phone and like a desktop feeling machine Windows 8 does not work for us.
Now I work in a niche IT role using numerous OS such as Microsoft Windows (XP, Win7, Server 2003, Server 2008) and Solaris as well as a bit of RedHat.
Now my Win8 experience is zero.
I thought it would be simple enough to install a retail copy of Win7 with SP1 64bit onto this notebook.
Not so easy as it turns out.
When I boot from the Win 7 install DVD the installer program locks up as the Win 7 logo starts to appear on the screen. If I try an install in safe mode the last driver that appears to load when the lock up occurs is disk.sys.
So the question is how can I install Win 7 64bit SP1 onto this notebook using a retail copy of Win7?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

*I found the reason for this problem* and the solution outside of this forum.
If anyone else is interested _the issue is cause by the use of GPT partions on the 8.1 build._
To overcome this and install a fresh copy of Win7 you can do this:
-Shut down Windows 8 while pressing the Shift key to completely power off.
-Power on and press F2 while the Toshiba logo is displayed to enter the UEFI Setup Menu.
-Go to the Security tab and set the "Secure Boot" setting to "Disabled".
-Go to the Advanced tab, enter "System Configuration" and set the Boot Mode to "CSM Boot."
-Press F10 to save and exit.
Go to http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ and download gparted boot image. Make bootable gparted cd and use it to delete the GPT partitions on the HDD.
Now just install Win7 64bit as you normally would creating whatever partitions you like during the install process. Of course you must have a new licence key for Win7 for this to work.
To finish off you will need to download all the required drivers from the Toshiba website to suit Win7 64bit. This is quite tedious as some of the files are huge. I got just the basics that I thought I'd need and that ended up being over 1Gb of files.
I'm so pleased I managed to get rid of that nasty Win8 interface.
This is probably not the only way to do this, but this worked for me.
