CS4 Windows won't uninstall

CS4 Windows won't uninstall,  I have WIndows 7 - am able to uninstall other programs - no problem but CS4 won't  uninstall. Tried multiple times, restarted, etc. Appreciate any help.

Hi,
The 24 character error code for the short Disk Self Test ( DST ) would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your g6 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.
Regards,
DP-K

Hi I have been having a problem with Bridge in CS4 recently. So uninstalled CS4 and Lightroom 4.4 and reinstalled them on my Desktop PC. When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I have spent two weeks going through preferences etc. to find how to resolve my problem. Please can you Help? Meany thanks in advance

I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them,  However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

  • NoScript won't uninstall / isn't listed as an Extension and getting angry about it, try this, it worked for me

Your reviews of the standard articles by forum junkies that just shoot out links of more engineering pages like this one are resulting in slamming the mouse, pounding the
keyboard and cussing aloud that even your cat probably won't be emerging for a few days, articles such as these that might already be highlited visited and open using Internet
Explorer or Chrome since you're pondering uninstalling firefox.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-remove-add-ons?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Uninstalling+add-ons
I'll quickly glean for a moment why you won't uninstall it without difficulty before I explain how to just turn it off but you'll still keep it sort of like dermatological
shingles, you've already had the outbreak and as long as you don't do something risky to reawken, you won't see it again.
You can't remove it from the extensions likely because it was "embedded" in your particular FF install. I'm careful to avoid definitive statements since nothing is definitive in
a 20 year old buggy operating system of Windows and the hoops that decent software like firefox has to jump through just to protect us on MS Windows. This hole NoScript
nightmare might be happening to you on something else like a MaC or anything, it doesn't matter cause my fix is the same, there might be other methods and I hope others
    constructively contribute.
Whenever I post this question and discovery elsewhere like Stack or DevGuru, it always gets invaded by the followers, the engineers who almost cultishly question why would
anyone remove or disable NoScript, how dare would anyone do such a thing. These people are missing the point, it has nothing to do with the quality, it has to do with ownership
and they can dismissively write us off to being hacked, whatever, that is our decision to do so regardless of the "elegance of NoScript", the reasons we choose to stop using it
ARE OUR OWN REASONS AND NUNYA BUSINESS.
    A FIX:
By now you've probably learned the "about:config" option in FF, in your address bar enter:
    about:config
If you don't have the address bar and just use shortcuts, use your Windows kyboard and press Ctrl and the "L" key for which should hopefully start an address bar unless
NoScript disabled it or demands confirmation 1
Press the enter key on your keyboard, or the go, whatever you normally do to press forward to your web site, NoScript might prevent you from opening the config like the HAL9000 stopping Dave Bowman from deactivating him. Just press forward and advise NoScript you wanna keep going.
    Scroll down or find
    noscript.autoAllow
Notice if it is set True or 1, change it to 0 or False.
Have to restart FF to affect the change, if this solved your version of the problem, please reutrn to say as much, vote it up with an up click, if it didn't work, share as much as you're willing to before you get fed up and slam your fist through the monitor or this computer out of the window of a moving car.
NoScript isn't evil, the author is revered and he creates and maintains it for free, you might be having a hard time removing it because it was embedded with your FireFox install. Somewhere you or someone else decided you needed a specialized version of fireFox such as the ToR version for anonymous web browsing from site operators, maybe someone did it and only told you in passing and you forgot, coulda been they didn't understand what they were installing and failed to adequately explain it.
At this moment, you're feeling proprietary and want more control of your browsing experience.
I know a few ways to uninstall it but it requires software recompiling which is like genetic rengineering if you don't already know software development and you should probably avoid trying to learn it since it obviously ain't your profession. You don't try to learn dentistry just to drill your own cavity.
You can do other things to save your settings and uninstall / reinstall a new version of FF, there are other ways to uninstall NoScript or kneecap it, and we're intereeted in hearing how.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select ''Add-ons'', or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the ''Tools'' menu and click ''Add-ons''.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the ''Remove'' button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.
You can find further information about uninstalling extensions in the following articles:

  • Itunes won't uninstall so can reinstall

everytime i try to upgrade itunes i run into a different problem. this time my old itunes won't uninstall so the new one can install. and now i can't even open the old itunes or uninstall it myself. i'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers so if you could dumb it down when you answer this it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

when i try to install itunes 7.1.1 the following message comes up:
'the feature you are tryting to use is on a netwotk resource that is unavaliable
Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path a a folder containing the insallation package 'Itunes.msi' in the box below'
with that one, try the following procedure (mariza, this is probably worth a try with your one too):
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

  • Error 7 (Windows error1114) have uninstalled iTunes and am having problems reinstalling latest version

When trying to download latest version of iTunes, it failed to down load and I got an error message which read
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exc
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the applications support team for more information.
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Tried reinstall, repair as have done this before this did not work, so I uninstalled iTunes then downloaded latest version only to have this not work either.
I had my ipod attached at the time as I was charging it anf now find I can't turn it off?
What is going on with this.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • ITunes download said I needed to uninstall first. Followed instructions on how to uninstall. Everything worked except for iTunes itself and it won't uninstall but won't install either. Help!

I followed the instructions for the uninstall as found on the website, but all of the software except for iTunes uninstalled successfully. Now it won't uninstall and the updated version won't instal either and I have no idea what to do. I'm very frustrated at this point as I've tried everything on the support website.

    Perfect, thanks.
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Adobe 9.3.4 won't uninstall-network unavailable-need msi file

My OS is XP.  I've used Adobe Reader for years.  It was working just fine until about a month ago.  When I attempt to print from Primopdf,  I can get the screen that says "Create PDF"--once I click on it nothing happens. That happened a time or two before.  When I uninstalled & reinstalled the Primopdf program it took care of the problem.  (I can still create pdf files from scanned documents.)
Next I uninstalled the Adobe Reader program, and installed the updated version, Adobe Reader 9.3.4.  That still didn't work.  Now Adobe Reader 9.3.4  won't uninstall. I get a message that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resouce that is unavailable."  I've checked in my 'Program files' to see if Adobe reader is there--I find a 90.3 MB Reader folder, (with several folders & files) indicating it does exist.  Though I see an AcroRd32.exe that shows its a 9.3.3.177 file. (So evidently I don't have the upgrade, but the previous version, right?)
After the 'network unavailable' message appears, a prompt gives an option enter an alternate path to: AdbeRdr930.en.us.msi file.  If I had that file, would that solve my problem?  I've read complex instructions, and not sure how to obtain that file.  Is there some way I can obtain & download that file?
I've run registry cleaner programs, the Advanced SystemCare Diagnositic program, etc.  I've read about forced program deletions--though not sure about that?  I downloaded the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility--then it said was for Window 95/98--couldn't find for XP.
OK computer gurus--what should I do, short of reinstalling my OS?  This is like 'gum on shoes' and it's really annoying.
Thanks for some recommendations to hurdle this problem.

Check the version of AcroRd32.dll - that should show you the 9.3.4 version.

The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html) works on all Windows versions; you should be able to remove your current Reader with it.

  • Trying to install Cs2 but old indesign won't uninstall or repair?

Trying to install the "new" posted on adobe, Cs2. Win vista for business. 1st step- add/remove programs. old indesign won't uninstall or repair! Get " was interrupted - try again" "can't find xxxxx file in dat 1 cabinet" ???
Searched forums for hours now! Help please!

Just went back through my start menu, and it CS, not CS2 that would not install under any condition on Windows 7. CS2 is running in the Windows XP mode Virtual Machine. XP mode is a free feature of Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate, and does not install on Vista.
That said, you can download and install Windows Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/virtual-pc-2007.aspx) which is a virtualization environment, and you can install Windows XP as a virtual machine from a set of XP disks.
There are people (and you seem to be one) who have successfully, more or less, gotten CS2 to install on Vista. I never ran Vista, so I'm shooting in the dark here a bit, but I would make the following recommendations for trying to get the programs installed:
First, run MSconfig and turn off all the unnecessary startup programs like Anti-virus and spyware scanners, third party firewalls, instant messengers, iTunes, browser helpers and toolbars, etc, and also go to the Services tab, hide all Microsoft services, and you can probably turn off just about everything that is left (lots of antivirus stuff runs as a service, for example). Re-boot into an adminsitrator account, cancel MSConfig when it reopens, and find the downloaded installer. If you have not already run the .exe file to extract the installer, do that next.
Once the installer is extracted, find the Setup.exe file, and right click it. In Windows 7 I have an entry to Troubleshoot Compatibility, and hopefully you have something similar. Choosing that gives me two options, Use Recommended Settings, which might work, but there's no indication of what they might be, or Troubleshoot Program. Choosing that should bring up another dialog where hopefully you can see a checkbox that says the program used to work in an earlier version, which you should check, and clear any others, then press next, which should bring up a list of previous versions where you can select Windows XP.
From there it should run the setup program in XP comaptibility mode, and once installed you should be able to set the program itself to also run in XP compatibility mode.
When the installation is complete you can run MSConfig again and click the Normal Startup radio button and reboot.

  • Windows won't close

I installed Safari Beta 3 and now Windows won't close just the tabs will.
Any body else have this problem?
    iMac G5 1.8 GHz Superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hi
"Repair permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. Restart Safari. If that doesn't help, uninstall/reinstall Safari using the uninstaller and install items in the Installation package. Restart Safari etc.

  • CS4 Trial won't work (Vista)

    Hi,
I try to setup CS4 Trial, but it won't work.
The error that I get is : Setup has detected a error and could not proceed. Please contact Customs...
Setup was allways been done with NO firewall active, nor AntiVirus tool and UTP cable disconnected (no Internet connection).
My PC : Vista Home Premium, Intel Dual Core2, 4 Gb RAM.
    What I allready tryded :
Uninstalled CS4 and ALL Adobe products ( even PDF Reader) using RevoUninstaller
Uninstalled CS4 using MS Clean Uninstall (msiuu2)
Uninstalled using msiuu2 and WinCS4 Cleanupscript
Digged deep in to Registery and deleted keys reffering to Adobe.
    Used Hijackthis.
Used Combofix to make sure, nothing was there.
All that with the neccessarie reboots.
    Nothing helpded thou.
    Please advise.
    Kindely regards, Loebe

I am using quit a while Revo Uninstaller, and it has proved to be a trustworthy tool.
And no, it wasn't used first.
use the CS3 Clean Utility a second or third time
I deleted, re-install, reboot like more then 18 times
Recovery mode ? Did that, no use.
Update ? I have the latest Vista updates.
Did I mentiontioned, this is a brand new PC (only 3 weeks old )?
Reinstall my OS, just to try-out a Trial ?
Nah...not worth it. If a Trial cost that much trouble to install,
what do I have to think about purchasing the full product?
I don't mean to be rude, but Adobe is the only tool that give me probs and when I Google... it seems I 'am not the only one.
If no other solution is coming, I have to change to other software to build my websites.
    Kindely regards,

  • Quicktime won't uninstall?  -3 error SOLUTION

So i encountered this really annoying all throughout yesterday, and figure people might be going throught the same thing. While trying to update itunes, the quicktime bundle wouldnt install, and in the end led to a -3 error. So i tried to delete quicktime, but the uninstall didnt work. Its not that i cared, but i only wanted my music, which wouldnt open. I did what alot of people did, trying to go into regedit.exe, but im no computer wiz, and non of that worked. so finally, i did this, and this deffinetly solved my problem.
download the windows install cleaner, then find quicktime to remove, and then redownload the standalone version of quicktime.
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1b d/msicuu2.exe
(this is the file link from http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 , if it doesnt work, go directly there)
    then
    www.quicktime.com (i searched standalone)
    hope this helps people.

It's telling me I have an old version of Quicktime, and won't uninstall it; saying it can't find wherever it's saved.
Is it saying it can't find the QuickTime.msi file, kylvel?
If so, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another itunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
