CS5.5 .avi settings - daktronics

I've searched through a handful of forums with similar questions, but never seem to find the specific circumstance I am encountering. Hopefully someone here might know of a workaround for me, or point me in the right direction.
I work for a live venue (arena) and do the video creative for the LED ribbon and video boards for all of our events. We use Daktronics software to import and play all content files, and unfortunately, the only video file type this system is set up to read is an uncompressed 29.97, square pixels at 9,264x32, RGB, best quality, millions of colors, no codec, .AVI file. Previously, in my CS4 and CS3, the file > Export > .AVI was an option so I simply set those settings as my default, and this was the only way to guarentee the file rendered was indeed these exact specifications.
I now have CS5.5 and found that the .avi export is now listed under the traditional render settings, however, when I chose this option and set my non-codec/file settings, the file it exports is still writing the content as a millions of colors+, which will NOT work on the daktronics equipment, even though the settings list it as not +. For the time being I've been creating in CS5.5, rendering as an .AVI, and then taking the video file into my personal computers AE CS4 and re-exporting with the proper settings.
I understand this is a very rare circumstance, but does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps codec installs/updates they could think might help me in this situation? Unfortunately I can't have them change the entire daktronics system to take new file types. I have tried rendering the .AVI's with every option I could think of under the render settings, and nothing has worked thus far.
I appreciate any feedback and input anyone can spare.
Thank you,
Jenae

The problem is that Adobe is writing compressed video in a non-standard way.  Data is written in an AVI file in chunks with four character codes (FCCs) to define the chunks and some items in the chunks.  There are two FCCs that can be used to define video frame chunks, “00db” for an uncompressed frame or “00dc” typically for a compressed frame.  If “00dc” is used for uncompressed video the compression code is supposed to be “DIB “ which means a DIB codec, which is basically uncompressed.  Adobe’s CS5 is writing video chunks with the “00dc” code but not specifying the “DIB “ compression code but instead just putting in null characters.  This would appear to be a violation of the AVI specification and is the reason that earlier versions of the Venus 7000 do not work with these files.  CS4 and earlyer versions used the "00db" FCC so they did not have the problem.
Venus 7000 version 6.24.0.1 is the first version to have the fix that supports the non-standard CS5 uncompressed AVIs.

  • Flash CS5.5[Publish Settings]: How to include custom Metadata tags in swf?

    In Flash CS5, the 'Publish Settings' for the fla had an 'Export SWC' checkbox that took care of that.
    The option is missing. Why was it removed and how can  that be done in 5.5?

    Thanks sinious, but, it doesn't work.
    Let me elaborate on what I want to do:
    I'm trying to create a swf in Flash CS5.5, that's using a flex library (swc) that relies on Metadata tags (anotations).
    I need to use the metadata tags in my as3 code (in the fla), and They need to be compiled into the swf (by Flash CS5.5 compiler...).
    Although, when I load that swf, the metadata tags aren't compiled into it (I'm using describeType to check if tags are available in the swf).
    In flex, I would use the '-kepp-as3-metadata+=' compiler setting to do that, in Flash CS4 & CS5 I used the 'Export SWC' in the publish settings, but that's removed (WHY???).
    Checking XMP Metadata didn't change that, the tags are still not included in the compiled swf.
    Anyone?

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
    I have the following problem, please help:
    I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
    avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
    What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
    Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

    Consequently, as you can see, they have both nearly the same information
    Both video clips have the following audio codec:
    AAC
    In the folder where all raw video clips exist there are a few new files with the codec ending: .AVD ("the name of the file".AVD)
    But the 2 video clips mentioned above does not have any files like .AVD oder something else like that. But the first one works and the second one doesnt work.

  • AVCHD presets in CS5 where? + Settings...

    "**The trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 does not include some  features that depend on software licensed from parties other than Adobe.  For example, some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only  with the full version of this product."
    Yes I read this, thought it pertained to export only (which doesn't faze me).
    If it impacts playback of AVCHD files using h.264 codec, I'm all ears - and it would be ironic, because since using the trial I've actually been thinking about other editing platforms!! (Whereas before it was a forgon conclusion that I'd upgrade to the master collection).

  • CS5 QT Codec Settings window is cutting off settings

    I am running CS5 on Win 7 x64
    and every time I open Render Queue > Output Module > QuickTime > Codec Settings
    I get the little dialogue box "Adjust the settings in the dialog provided by the codec, then close it when finished. [ Bring to front ]"
    but the dialog box with the settings is tiny, about 160px tall and the settings go well below the 160px cut off point.
    There is no way to click on the options lower in the window.
    Previous versions of AE didn't give me this problem on the same computer.
    Is anyone else seeing this?  Is there a solution or work-around?
    Thanks!

    Confirmed that the Avid Codecs LE 2.2.1 package does not fix this.   However we have heard that Avid is working on a version with the fix but it's not available yet.
    As a workaround, you can save a Output Module template file (.aom) from After Effects CS4 with the desired settings for Avid DNxHD and import that into After Effects CS5.
    Some background on this problem might be helpful.  It's a little convoluted and requires some understanding of the QuickTime  API.  Which I don't have but smarter people have explained it to me and I  think I can pass it along to you.
    There is no  64-bit version of QuickTime, so Adobe created an intermediate 32-bit  process that After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 can talk to.  It's  called Adobe QT32 Server and you can see it running in Task Manager or  Activity Monitor when After Effects or Premiere Pro are active.  When  you press the Codec Settings button in the QuickTime Options dialog in  After Effects, a request is made to QT32 Server to get the dialog for  the codec controls via QuickTime.  (QT32 Server is also responsible for  that little dialog box with the "Bring to front" button, which is there to make sure  that you don't lose the codec settings dialog behind other windows.)
    Here's the important part:  Apple's QuickTime API specifies two  different ways by which applications can get the codec controls UI.   Either by calling the entire full QuickTime settings UI (which is what  After Effects CS4 does) or by just asking for the codec-specific  settings in a separate dialog.  After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 use  the latter method because it simplifies both the UI and the interchange  between the 64-bit application and the QT32 Server process.
    The  problem happens when the codec developer doesn't correctly build the  that separate dialog box containing the codec controls.  This is  necessary for that second API method used by After Effects CS5.  It's  not necessary for the full QuickTime settings UI, which handles those controls.  And since most applications use the full QuickTime  settings UI, it's possible the developer programmed the dialog but it wasn't  fully tested.  Or maybe they just thought that no one used that second  API and didn't program it at all.
    Problems with the codec settings  dialogs aren't limited to Avid DNxHD.  AJA's codecs, for example,  don't show a dialog box at all when you press the Codec Settings  button in After Effects CS5, which I suspect means they haven't set the  bounds for their dialog box.  We have contacted AJA about this, of  course, and I will admit to not having updated my AJA codecs in a while  so they may have very well fixed the problem.
    For what it's worth, all of the built-in QuickTime  codecs from Apple provide the correct UI.  So do some other third party codecs, and so does Avid for some of  their codecs.  For example, the Avid DV100 codec uses a separate dialog  box, even when using the full QuickTime settings UI.  Select the Avid  DV100 codec in After Effects CS4 and you'll see the Options button in  the lower left that opens the same settings dialog that After Effects  CS5 accesses directly.
    I hope  that explanation helps some.

  • CS5 Loosing Printer Settings!

    I did the upgrade to the latest version of PS CS5.  Now, when I go to print, I have to reset the Color Management section of the Print dialog every time I try to print!  PS used to remember the settings that I used the last time.  It does not do this now!  Everything prints fine, but I have to reset everything every time in the Color Management section of the Print dialog.  How do I get PS to remember the Color Management settings in my Print dialog?
    Kevin
    PS.  I have the latest Snow Leopard, and I am using a network Epson Printer.

    When you create a new document, the previously used print settings from the Photoshop Preferences are used for the document. If those aren't found, or have an error, you'll get the default preferences for your default printer.
    Note that the default for new documents is "Printer Manages Color", and I'm pretty sure this is selected if you switch printers, as well.
    Is your networked Epson your default printer? System Preferences > Print & Fax > Default Printer is where you set that.
    So if your Epson is your default printer, the only thing I can think of would be to delete your Photoshop preferences - hold command-option-shift when launching Photoshop to do this.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Project & Sequence Settings

    I will be shooting with a Sony NEX-VG10 set at a Record Mode of FH 17M (which I have no clue what it is)
    The camera records 1920 x 1080 Full HD videos (I don't know if its 1920x1080i or p)  (The user guide that came with the camara doesn't explain much of anything)
    The memory card that I will use to record the clips is a 32GB SDHC
    I want to know the settings that I should choose to edit the clips in Premiere Pro CS5.
    1)  Project Settings asks me to select between DV and HDV.  Is HDV the right one?
    2)  Sequence Settings is getting me more confused than I am already:
         In previous projects (with a different camera) I have chosen DV NTSC as I had set the Project as DV but also because of the NTSC
         In the Sequence Settings if I go along with HDV it doesn't give me the NTSC option but it lists several 1080i and 1080p options.
         Which one should I choose?
    Finally, when I am all done I will burn an HD DVD with Encore.
    I am assuming that using the same edited video I could also burn an SD DVD: is that possible?
    The whole project will probably turn a 45 min. video.
    Thanks for your help.

    videope wrote:
    Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.
    When creating a new project I have to specify location, name, etc... PLUS I also have to indicate the capture format
    No, you don't.  You can hit cancel.  If you've shot on media cards, you have no need to Capture.
    Secondly, comes the Sequence Settings where there are a bunch of available presets listed such AVCHD, DV-24P, DV-NTSC, DV-PAL and so on... also HDV.... and within each one there are further options for example under HDV:  1080i 25, 1080i 30, 1080p etc....
    Which one is the one I should choose?
    That's already been explained in this thread.  And it's also covered thoroughly in the Pr Help documentation.
    If understand correctly you are suggesting that I forget this screen and just add my clips and create New Sequence from Clip.  This you say will automatically attach to it the proper preset.  Pardon my ignorance but I can't figure out how it will work.  Will I have a new sequence for each clip?
    Right.  Have you even tried it yet?  You can select a bunch of clips, and drag them to the New Sequence icon also.  They'll all be added to a new Sequence based on the source clip's settings.
    Finally, when I mentioned I will burn an HD DVD I meant: a High Definition  DVD and also was considering burning a Standard Definition  DVD and was asking if it would be possible.
    You're using incorrect terminology.  There is no HD DVD.  There is DVD, and there is Blu-Ray.  The different formats have different names.

  • InDesign CS5, à votre avis ?

    Bonjour,
        Loic

    Bonsoir Loic,
    Apparemment, tu as un problème de liens !
    Tu en as déjà parlé dans un autre « Post ».
    Comment fais-tu pour placer des images dans tes documents InDesign ?
    • Fichier -> Importer
    • Glisser l'image depuis Bridge
    SURTOUT PAS DE COPIER-COLLER ! (les images vont être incorporées dans ton document)
    Si tu utilises l'une ou l'autre de ces méthodes, tu ne devrais pas avoir de problèmes de liens manquants ou incorporés.
    Pour relier les images incorporées, la commande est accessible depuis le menu local du panneau Liens.
    Même pour un catalogue contenant tous les éléments que tu mentionnes (texte conditionnel, index...) je suis étonné que le document soit aussi lourd.
    Dans l'illustration, le lien du milieu est incorporé. Reconnaissable par le petit pictogramme. (Ce qu'il faut éviter en temps normal).

  • In Premiere Pro CS5.5 AVI file imports audio only - no video.

    I've got a file (one of 3) I've been given to create a smaller file (320x480) from.
    The file is an avi file and plays (video and audio) just fine in the native Windows media player. (I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) There are no issues of memory or HDisc space.
    Video:
    The file is 2:21:29 in length.
    720x480
    Data rate 1489kbps
    Total bitrate 1617kbps
    29 frames/second
    Audio:
    Bit rate 128kbps
    Channels 2 (stereo)
    Audio sample rate 48 kHz
    The file is about 1.6Gb
    This is one of 3 I recieved. The other two were of comparable specs and similar length (not exactly but one was longer, the other shorter.)
    The problem is that this particular file (the other two import perfectly), when imported, only comes in as an audio file. No video imports. The other files import as audio and video. No error message either.
    I've imported all kinds of video files in the past with different frame sizes, rates, and aspect ratios, and codecs, yet I've never had one that only imports the audio without the video.
    Suggestions?!

  • After effects CS5 recognizes. avi formats only as an audio track?

    Hi
    If I for CS5 a video hinfüge I recorded with Fraps detect the audio only as, what should I do so the video is also there?
    ty

    I then looked at Pluraleyes however it seems that Pluraleyes for Adobe Premier (PC) cannon work with .MXF files which is what the panasonic cameras natively record to the P2 cards.
    It will; give the demo a shot. PluralEyes will render temporary WAV files from the MXFs for syncing, through AME. With the PluralEyes workflow, you don't need timecode at all, as it works by analyzing the waveforms themselves.
    You can pseudo-sync the HPX170s with free-run TC by getting the cameras both setup to the TC reset screen, setting them in close proximity to one another, and then using the supplied remote to trigger the reset. It's line of sight with the remote, so you need to be in front of the cameras to do it. I've synced two, three, and even four HVX/HPX camcorders this way, and had perfect sync (at least between them) in post. So long as the cameras are juiced, you should be good; powering off/swapping batteries may cause a little drift, but the reset process is pretty simple if needed.
    For the external recorder, if you want to match it to the cameras, you'd have to employ a Calibrated Finger and use it at the same time as the TC reset on the cams. I'm assuming the recorder you're using allows for free-run TC and a manual reset like this. Personally, I wouldn't bother with trying to get TOD set between all the devices; I guess you could use the same procedure above for fake jam syncing to set the clocks on the cameras, but I've never tried that.
    Also, as of the 5.0.2 update, Premiere accepts BWF files and reads the timecode from the files. Syncing the MXFs and BWFs will be a semi-manually process in Premiere, but isn't too bad. This is where PluralEyes would take off most of the load; anything slightly off could be brought into sync pretty quickly in Premiere.

  • Trouble changing Camera RAW settings in Javascript (worked in CS5, but not CS6)

    I just upgraded to Master Collection CS6 from Production Premium CS5, and CameraRAWOpenOptions settings in scripts that I had working in Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) using Extendscript CS5 are no longer working with Photoshop CS6.  I get no error messages, but the settings I specify in the scripts (for example, CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure=2.00) do not take effect when the image is opened.  Other Photoshop properties and actions within my script are working correctly.
    Note that this is an issue in Photoshop CS6.  I can use Extendscript CS5 or CS6, and the result is the same.
    Here is the way I am changing the settings in my script:
    var RawOptions = new CameraRAWOpenOptions;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CUSTOM;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.SELECTEDIMAGE;
    RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CAMERA;
    RawOptions.exposure=+2.00;
    RawOptions.vignettingAmount = 0;
    RawOptions.vignettingMidpoint = 0;
    RawOptions.contrast = 50;
    RawOptions.saturation = 0;
    RawOptions.shadows = 0;
    RawOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0;
    var JPGopts = new JPEGSaveOptions;
    JPGopts.quality = JPEGquality;
    //Perform the loop through the files
    app.open(testListing[0], RawOptions, false);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    for (var nfile = nstart; nfile < nstop; nfile++)
        app.open(testListing[nfile], RawOptions, false);
        FnameSave = new File(SavePath+"/"+testListing[nfile].name);
        app.activeDocument.saveAs(FnameSave, JPGopts, false, Extension.UPPERCASE);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

    I found a few of them actually work.
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.tint=0; // works (-150 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.temperature=5500; // works (2000 to 50000)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0; // works 0 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.saturation=50; // works =100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingAmount=0; //works -100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingMidpoint=0; //works -100 to 100
    These ones do not work:
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.brightness=0; // does not work (0 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.contrast=0; // does not work (-50 to 100)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure = 0; // does not work (-4.0 to +4.0)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.shadows=0; // (0 to 100) does not work
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.whiteBalance=WhiteBalanceType.SHADE; // does not work
    I noticed that, doing File-->File Info--> "Advanced" tab-->expand "Camera Raw Properties" that the ones that do not work have mostly either been removed (brightness) or had "2012" added to their names in the XMP in the conversion from CS5 to CS6.
    It appears the mapping from Javascript objects/properties to how Photoshop knows them is broken with the new version.  Is there any way to fix this?
    Is there an alternate way to do this by going through XMP?
    Unfortunately, I'm wanting to use "exposure", which is one of the ones that is broken.  My main script sets a custom exposure for each image (trying to smooth out EV jumps between successive images in a sunset time lapse).

  • Lost Epson print settings in CS5. Help

    When I initiate a print in CS4, I get the Epson options to choose paper settings, etc. In CS5, the file just starts to print. When I click on the button that says Print Settings, nothing happens. I have both CS4 and CS5 still on my computer so I am working in 5 and then printing in 4. Surely there is a fix for this???? Thanks!

    In CS5, the "Print Settings" button has replaced "Page Setup". Click on it before clicking print. If you don't, it'll use the previously used settings.
    If "nothing happens" when clicking the "Print Settings" button, try switching printers or try switching from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" (or vice-versa). If all else fails, relaunch Photoshop while holding the command, control, shift and option keys (one of them may not be needed, but I can never remember which, so I just mash them all) to delete the application preferences.
