CS5.5 crashing...tried 'all' suggestions with no success!...Need help!
I recently upgraded/installed CS5.5 on a users MAC running OS X 10.6. It appeared to install without any issues and all programs seem to work just fine except InDesign. Everytime we start InDesign it gets to "Starting Services Registry" or something to that effect and then it crashes. And I do mean crashes and not hangs. It genereates a crash report which I have placed on PasteBin: http://pastebin.com/DWrek9CV
I have looked over the forums and searched on Google but none of the suggestions, such as trashing the Preferences, checking the Permission on the SING folder or reinstalling, etc., seem to correct the issue.
The only thing I have noticed is that if I log in as a different user I am able to open ID without any issues, so I am assuming that the problem is specific to the user and not the system in general.
I would greatly appreciate any help getting this problem resolved.

Well, if it works for another user then clearly the end is in sight.
Did you try blowing away ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign?
Which preference-clearing procedure did you use?
That crash report is singularly unenlightening. You should give it to Adobe Support...

I used Firefox up to version 3.5 and it worked well. But ever since, FF has frozen as soon as I've opened a webpage other than Google. FF even freezes when I'm in Mozilla's help pages !
I have trashed and reinstalled several times, updated constantly as suggested. I'm now using (or trying to use) version 25. No success.
I have done everything that was suggested :
- trashed and reinstalled ( several times over the years, to see if new versions of FF would work)
- restarted FF in safe mode
- tweaked the profile as recommended
- I've painstakingly checked that all my plug-ins etc were up to date. They are.
None of these solutions have worked. As I have written more than once, none of them should be necessary : Firefox should "just work". After all, other browsers do - I use Safari and Chrome, for instance, as well as SeaMonkey. Does any
one know what's happening ?
I'm now running Mac OS 10.9.A moderator (AliceWyman, whom I thank for her post) suggests I reset Firefox. I've done that, more than once.
The problem remains. And so does my question : why does Firefox keep on hanging/freezing ?
Why should fixes be necessary? Mozilla, in its Firefox page, generously offers the browser free, and users assume that it will, simply, work. In my case, it doesn't.
And as I've said: I've tried a whole range of fixes and workarounds (that aren't necessary with other browsers) and they haven't worked. If my iMac can handle all the other browsers with no problem, this indicates that the computer works, and that the other browsers do too. So this problem seems to be a specific Firefox one.
As I've already said, I could just give up and use Safari, Chrome, Chromium, SeaMonkey, Maxthon, or Slimboat, for instance.
But it irks me that FF, with such a good reputation (it's the third most widely used browser), should behave in this way.
"Different by design", says its webpage. Well, it's certainly different. Can anyone help? I've been asking these questions, trying "fixes", trashing and clean-reinstalling for about a week now. -
I have updated all plug-ins, cleared download history, deleted sessionstore files but this still happens regularly - every few minutes.
I think that I have found a solution: [ha ha ha ha ha h a]
I am running XP SP3
1 - uninstall Firefox - whatever version you have
2 - search for ANY file related to 'Mozilla' that is left behind BECAUSE much crap is left & DELETE it
3 - then search & DELETE every 'Mozilla' entry in the registry - DELETE THEM
4 - then reinstall the latest VSN without any add-ons or plug-ins - only install them when they are asked for - like Flasplayer etc

Upon restart, I get the "connect to itunes" icon, however cannot proceeed past this page, as the ipod is not recognized on my PC, nor itunes. Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem -
iPad is not recognized in iTunes. Just installed Mac OS X 10.6 and have a brand new iPad2. Tried all suggestions in the iPad manual without success.
Quit iTunes, restart your Mac and then restart the iPad and see if the iPad is recognized after that. If not, you can look through these articles.

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

Yes. Reinstall iTunes. If that is the point at which you stopped trying the support suggestions then it makes sense to me, that you move on to the next suggestion and if reinstalling iTunes is the next suggestion, so be it.
However .... I too have issues that arise out of the blue with my iPad being recognized in iTunes and what I always do and it eventually works is to quit iTunes, restart my MacBook, and reboot my iPad.
Rebooting the iPad is the last thing that I do and only if I have no success with quitting iTunes and restarting the Mac. It may take a few tries to work, but if you are that dead set against reinstalling iTunes, then give it a try. -

I've been using Firefox for a long time with a great pleasure of course. I've got today the same problem as you: my profile can't be loaded, missing or inaccessible. I tried all solutions but it was not OK.
Finally, as yesterday I've played with hiddens files in my home directory, I noticed that my "/home/myuser/.cache" was marked with a little padlock: it was access protected. So I just execute:
'''sudo chown myuser /home/myuser/.cache -R '''
and now Firefox is working fine.

Regarding Firefox 4 does not ask to save tabs and windows on exit even after trying all suggestions
After installing Firefox 4, Firefox would no longer ask to save tabs and windows on exit. Even after trying all suggestions to resolve the problem, the problem continued. Under the corrupted files suggestion to rename two files, that also did not help. The original file names would be recreated automatically, so both file name versions would exist in that folder. NOTHING resolves the problem.
Unfortunately, since that is a very desirable feature I, like other people who do not like Firefox 4, have gone back to an earlier version of Firefox.You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

I had this problem last month. I ended up having to get a new iPhone 4S. It's a very, very common problem and in my opinion it should be covered by Apple for free since it is so popular and is an obvious hardware defect especially in the iPhone 4S.
So I suggest you order a new iPhone ($230 with no warranty) ($50 with Apple Care+). And while you wait for your new iPhone to come you could back up your iPhone and try some of the YouTube fixs. I put mine in a plastic bag (off with no air in the bag) in the freezer for 30 minutes, pulled it out, turned it back on, let the iPhone thaw out in the bag, and it then worked again for over a week before it died again. But I would only try that if you knew you had a new iPhone on the way. My cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth all went out so I had nothing to lose. -

It isn't the installation of the Adobe Download Assistant which can cause this problem it is where you select to download the install files too. The Adobe Download Assistant would be installed to your Program Files/Applications folder and install files would be downloaded to your user folder, by default, or your desktop.
Alternately you can intitate a direct download by following the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369. -

When I start excel and open any workbook a 'ghost' work book opens it doesn't contain cells and is just greyed out. When I am working on a document whenever I start to write a formula the ghost wbook opens and I cannot see the original document to complete
the formula. If I open multiple workbooks I sometimes get a ghost workbook for each doc that is open - after a while I get error message to say not enough reources to do even simple tasks like save work or open a document.
I have posted on several forums and tried all suggested solutions without luck - this is really preventing me from using excel which I need daily. Personally though I am only intermediate user I think it may have something to do with a workbook that I downloaded
that had macros in it but I cant be sure

First make sure have installed the latest update. Second, we can repair Office 2013 from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Third, open Excel 2013 in safe mode, if it works fine, disable some 3rd-party application add-ins.
Could you please share a screenshot of this “ghost” workbook and upload it to OneDrive? I’ll analyze it in detail as soon as accessing it.

conversion log: Conversion Failed.Log says “unable to convert SQLite db” and then “Conversion failed”. This is before it does anything with specific images. The line right before the above is “gpp files flattened . . .” which I believe are sound files
