CS5.5 Interactive Button Selection

Hello,
I am trying to get a button to display as "selected" in my interactive InDesign document (exported as SWF) and for some reason can't figure out how. It seems like it should be simple (I hope I am missing something obvious). I have a button that changes color on rollover, but I would like for that button to remain that secondary color when clicked (to show that it is currently selected) --> until the user has clicked another button. It currently only changes on rollever and does not stay when clicked. Seems like there should be a state called "selected" or something to that affect. You need to create those selected state markups with separate multistate object, clicking the button does what ever it has been set to do + it activates the multistate object to show selected state (in this case the dotted line around the button)
You can add more than one action to one button.

Left Arrow Interactive Buttons in InDesign CS5.5 Backwards type

Does anyone have a solution to the backwards type that appears in all left or previous page arrows in the InDesign Interactive Button Section?
Is this a glitch in the software. It seems the left buttons were created by flopping the right arrows...thus the backwards type. I try to flop the type...but the whole button flips.
Any work-arounds to this?

Are you talking about buttons from Sample Buttons library panel? You probably have tried to insert some text to graphic frame that creates the button´s appearance? I don´t know if that´s a good idea....
How about converting button to object, adding text, groupping object+text and converting group to button again... and re-creating the action?
Or another possible way would be write the text to it´s own separate frame outside of the button, put it to correct place onto the button and then drag it into the button´s Normal/RollOver states with Layers panel or use Cut/Paste Into commands.

PDF for Print with interactive buttons

In ID CS4 when exporting a book to PDF, the buttons were automatically added when "interactive elements" were checked in the export dialog box. In ID CS5, the export book to PDF requires you to select the "for Print" or "Interactive". I want to create a single file that can be used for print and has some interactive elements included.
When I select export for PDF "Interactive" the two page spreads (8.5 x 11) turn to one large spread (11 x 17). I don't want the large spreads, but I do want the interactive buttons (return to last page viewed) I have at the bottom of the page.
Is there a setting I am missing?
This worked in CS4, why is it not letting me do the same thing in CS5??

Problem with Interactive Buttons

Hi all,
I seem to be having trouble with Interactive Buttons.
InDesign CS5 - Version 7.0.3
I create a document with 2 pages (Facing Pages is checked).
I add a text box to each page, Page one's text box says "1" and page two's says "2".
Page two's text box I right click and select Interactive | New Hyperlink Destination - Type: Page, Page: 2, Zoom Setting: Fixed
On Page one I add a sample button from the buttons panel.
I select the button and then display the buttons panel.
I remove the default "Go To URL" action and add an action of "Go To Destination" using the Event of "On Release"
When I preview the page from the "Preview" panel, I click "Play" and can see the first page and the button (great), but when I click the button, nothing happens.
The mouse changes as I mouse over the button, the state of the button changes to the rollover state... all seems well but it doesn't actually perform the action of going to the next page.
I have tried exporting to PDF and making sure that "Include Bookmarks" and "References" is checked as well as making sure that "Create Tagged PDF" is checked but the exported pdf doesn't run the action either!
What am I doing wrong? It seemed so easy when I looked at some video tutorials on how to do it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If I choose Export... I cannot see an option for exporting to PDF (Interactive) no matter which options or types of PDF I select.
However, my PDF opens in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - is that the issue? Even if I open it in Adobe Reader 9.3 it doesn't work.

Interactive buttons in InDesign - for an iPad

Hello!
For a University project, I have an assignment of pairing up with someone and creating a childrens e-book. Thing is, we've not had that long on it due to other deadlines, and the deadline for this project is this coming Friday (22nd).
We've created the layout of the e-book but the thing is, the buttons work on the Preview window box in InDesign, but it doesn't when using the Adobe Content Viewer app on an iPad - the assignment is creating the document for an iPad.
It's apparently because the buttons use Flash, and iPads dont support that.
We got given some artwork, and want to create a button/interactivity where the reader (a 3-6 year old?) needs to find a certain animal on the page, and then once they do, they need to tap it, in order for a fact to appear about it.
E.g...
This is one of the pages/screens. It tells the reader to find the seagull. Easy, I know, but when pressing onto the seagull, we want it to come up with the fact. The red box around the seagull is a button, and the box towards the top right of the seagull is the fact box which is activated after selecting the seagull.
It works fine in the InDesign preview tab... This was after clicking on the seagull, which resulted in the box appearing...
I've watched a video on the Adobe website about some converter from FLASH to HTML5 programme called Wallaby Technology Preview, but it didn't work with that. The person had a moving animation though I suppose, and not buttons.
Something like a pop-up message would work in iBook Author but it needs to be created using InDesign. (This version i'm using is 5.5)

The popup panel (text description) would be your multiple state object. It can be an ordinary element, it does not need to be turned into an interactive object. Select the popup frame, and in the Object State panel flyout, select "New State". This will create an Object (you can name this) with two states. Select State 1 and colorize the frame and text to none (for the invisible state). Leave State 2 as is (for the visible state). Make the seagull art an interactive button. Then select your event: "On Click" and Action "Go to State" and Object "Popup Panel" and State "State 2"

Delete interactive buttons on all pages

Hello,
I'm new here, and I'm from Germany, so I apology in case for any missunderstandtings.
The Problem:
I have a PDF with like 1000 pages. On every page, there are interactive buttons like "Next", "Previous", "Contact" and so on...
Now I'd like to delete the "Contact" button only, on every page in the document - in one single hit. All the contact buttons have the exact same settings, they have been duplicated throughout the whole document. So the button should be the very same on every page.
There must be a way to delete all of them Contact buttons again - in one hit. So just like saying "duplicate onto all pages" I would just like to say "delete this button on all pages".
Is there a Javascript code to handle it? Or any other way?
Just to say it again: In one hit means all at the same time. I do not want to go through every page highlight every Contact button and then delete. That would take me ages for 1000 pages. And I have several dokuments to do that in...

Problem with Indesign interactive button

Hi Everyone! (Work on Tiger/CS3/Acrobat 8.0)
I am making a PDF with interactive button, (behavior- open file/ all my files are in the same folder and I doesn't move it) When a make all my button and export in PDF it's work, but I made some mistakes (text fault only) in the Indesign and when I export again in PDF the button don't work anymore... I doesn't make any changes in the button option, and select the same option for my pdf (Acrobat 6, Interactive Element/link all). My document have over 50 pages with about 10 buttons per pages... and please don't tell my I have to do it again!!! Thanks everyone!!

User interaction button

Hi Experts,
       I have developed a function module and after running it , in the output screen i want to have user interaction by giving proceed button and if press the buttoon o/p of the FM should be downloaded.
To add the button in o/p screen i used the Screen statement AT USER COMMAND, AT LINE-SELECTION. But FM not access these screen statements.Then i created a screen 100 with PF Status, in that screen i have maintained the proceed button. Then i call this screen inside the FM. The screen is coming along with the proceed button. But the FM o/p not coming along this proceed button screen.
Please help out to have a button for user interaction in o/p of the FM.

Hi Kelvin,
     You have created a screen and then you have added the Proceed button in the screen. Later you have called the screen in the FM . When executing the FM you are able to see the proceed button but you are not able to download the data after that.
The solution is.
     Move your data to a Global variable declared in the TOP INCLUDE of the function group of the FM. Now In the FM before calling screen move all the processed data in FM to that Global variable then in you PAI of the screen, under USER_COMMAND module, Check if the Proceed button is pressed. And if pressed Enter your LOGIC. Code sample given below.
Lets day the data you have to download is in internal table it_data.
Do as mentioned below.
1). In your top include.
DATA: it_data TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_data.
2). In your FM.
it_final is the table in FM which has your processed data and this is also of same structure ty_data.
it_data[] = it_final[]. " moving all the data to global variable.
CALL SCREEN 100.
3). in the PAI of screen 100.
MODULE USER_COMMAND INPUT.
CASE sy-ucomm.
WHEN 'PROCEED'.
<logic to download the it_data table>
ENDCASE.
ENDMODULE.
Thus your requirement can be achieved by moving the data to a global variable then downloading it using user interaction button.

BP not identified in ERMS on click of Interact button

Hi Experts,
System: ERMS 6.0 webui
I select an incoming email in Agent inbox and click on Interact button. No BP is identified even though there are 2 BPs maintained in the system with the same email id
I pick up an old email (about 2 weeks old) sent by the same sender and click on Interact button. In this case both the BPs get identified.
Does any one know the potential reason why this could happen. Is it related to BP/BP role validity. Can someone please help.

Has anything changed in the BP - check the Change History and see if the answer might be there. The BP transaction is not supported in CRM 6.0 so it could be that a change to the BP was made there which is causing the issue.

How I can see my interactive button on a tablet or smartphone?

Hey folks - sry for my english...
How I can see my interactive button, created in InDesign CC on a tablet or smartphone. It runs well on the computer but on tablet or smartphone i can't see the button. I save the InDesign file as Interactive PDF but it seems, there must be other things to know. Would be great you guys could help me :-)

Hi,
I am not sure if the "equal to" condition applies to a DOM object... after all, a DOM object can be anything (any HTML element) not only a field.
Try using a javascript expression instead, like this:
$v('P6_IR_SELECT_LIST')=='Delete'UPDATE: Sorry, I just tested and "equal to" condition works for DOM objects... should have tested before posting!

Safari 5 doesn't open new pages after website button selected

Hi. I am unable to load some websites after selecting some buttons on popular sites including PayPal and www.ryanair.com.
Actually I am unable to book a flight ticket and I had to visit my friend to do so on his computer. The same happens when I try to log in into PayPal account. After hitting *"Log In"* button there is NO action with Safari 5. No new Tab, no new window, no progress bar... Nothing.
The same happens with my MacBook. At ryanair.com after selecting the flight I am unable to proceed by hitting the button *"Select and Continue"*. Button *"New Search"* works normally.
Exactly the same situation on both Macs. Latest Safari 5 update. Both websites works under Firefox on both computers.
Does anybody has any idea what might be the problem?
I have repaired permissions already - no help.

Uppps, there is one change - PayPal site shows some action in the status bar, but without an effect.
If you are connecting to the internet using a cable modem, try disconnecting for 5 minutes, then reconnect and relaunch Safari.
See if you have any Safari third party plugins... Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If the problem isn't third party plugins, install the v10.6.3 Combo Update It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.3.
Then repair disk permissions (again).
Also, have you tried using a different browser??? Always good to have a back up.
Logging into another user account, try Safari there. If you have the same problems there, then it's a system wide glitch, not just isolated to your user account.

Using radio button selection in multiple tables

Hello All,
I've got a bit of a design issue and it being a Friday my brain is a bit foggy and I can't seem to figure out a solution.
what I want to do is have 3 tables. The user should only be able to select one line from any of the three tables.
I can do this by having events that clear down selection on the two other tables on any selection of the third, but the select buttons of tables don't really give the UI impression that only one row can be selected. To do this I'd like to use the radio button element.
so
table A
choice - name
(o) - Anne
(o) - Bob
(o) - Charlie
Table B
choice - name
(x) - David
(o) - Ellen
(o) - Fran
Table C
choice - name
(o) - George
Here the entry in table B for David is selected. But any selection of any of the other options should deselected.
My thoughts are to use a radio button ui element, bind the "selected" value to a unique id for each row/table (an attribute of the node element for each table) and the value to a common shared attribute (not table specific).
Any better ideas - and certainly any which would mean I'm not going to have to maintain a lookup table of my unique ids and node elements to find out which one is selected?

Ok - here's how I did it.
I created another lookup table which had a guid and reference to the element.
in the each elements I had a guid which I bound to the key for selection property of the radio button in the table.
I then bound the selected key property to an attribute that was common to all elements.
in my "processing" logic I read the selected key, read the lookup table - and therefore got the reference to the selected element.
Would have been an awful lot easier if I could have used a reference to the element itself as the "key" - but that was required to be a character field.

Interactive button in PDF file doesn't work with Adobe Reader for Mac nor Acrobat Pro

Hello!
I've to use a interactive form which has an interactive button that is supposed to send that form by email. If I open that PDF with my iPhone or iPad with the PDF Expert App, it works perfectly, but for any strange reason, when I try to open that same PDF in my Mac with Adobe Reader or Acrobat pro, that button doesn't do anything.
Can this be a configuration error?

The problem is deeper than that. It's not reader. Now the same form I was creating in LifeCycle Designer ES2 yesterday, with the actions working perfectly, no longer work. None of the actions are working.
Could it be realted to me trying to set the default version compatibility to Adobe 7. It gave me warnings, so I set it back to 9.
Any help would be appreciated.

CS2+ JS -- convert item to interactive button

I was wondering if anyone had a script for converting multiple text boxes into interactive buttons in InDesign that will work in a PDF file?
I'm primarily using CS2, but I do have access to CS3 and CS4 as well.
