CS5.5 Layer help...
OK, I've recently run into a problem that I don't know how to resolve. Basically, every time I go to change a value on any type of layer, the layer does not update until after I let go of the left mouse button. Example: If you change the value of the layer's opacity, using your mouse, not typing in an actual percent, the layer normally changes instantly, as you move the mouse, changing the opacity value. This also occurs with the position of a layer when I try to move it. Where you see the word "text" is where the original position is, and the white box on the right is where I am moving the layer. (The attached screen shot shows this) I've been using AAE CS5.5 for about a year and a half, and I've never had this happen. This occurs whether or not the layer is in 3D mode, and regardless if there is a camera in the composition. How do I fix this?
See this:
FAQ: Why can't I see my changes until I let go of the mouse button?

CS5.5 install help!
I have just purchased CS5.5 but installation will not work (I've tried 5 times!). I have disabled my anti-virus, and my firewall and there are no previous versions on my PC! I have even deleted other Adobe products in case that was the problem. Any suggestions gratefully received as I'm really frustrated!!! Cannot get through to Adobe on the phone either!
Thank you very much! I will try the links below.
Unfortunately it is very hard to get in touvh with Adobe! The phone number for Australia is disconnected (if you have an Australian phone number for support I would be very grateful!!!)...and even the Education support number I tried the other day won't answer - have been on hold for 2 x 20minutes with no one answering! And the "chat" option...I've sat and waited for an operator to be available for ages...no operators available!
I have disabled my anti-virus, and firewall, checked that I have all the appropriate plug-ins ie. Java, Quicktime etc and my computer is brand new, Windows 7 with no previous version of Creative Suite! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!!!

Sarah

I have bought a CS5 suite (student) 2 years back. I have lost the original box and DVD. Now I am migrating to another computer and I couldnt find a source to install the CS5. Please help.
I couldnt even contact adobe direct to address the issue. If you registered with Adobe, your authorization number will be in your account on Adobe's website. Then you can use their downloads page and download CS5 and install it. A search on their main page will get you to the download page.

CS5.5 need help with connecting to wsdl
Hello,
I'm new to Dreamweaver CS5.5 and i'm looking for a simple way to connect to a CFC wsdl web service.
Basically need to pass 1 parameter to the webservice and have it return a string result from our database.
Is this possible to do from dreamweaver, using javascript ?
thanks. Those crosshairs are controllers for an effect. The first thing to do is to start turning off layers (eyeball) until you find the layer with the crosshairs. Once you've isolated the layer make sure that it's not a pre-comp, press F3 to reveal the ECW, and check the effects. If you can't turn the effects on and off then or access any of the settings the layer is locked. What would really help here is a screenshot. I can't tell much from the photo because I can't see what's under the hood.

Image Name Caption CS5.5-Please Help
Hello,
Does anyone have a script or know of an application that can apply the image caption over and image, on it's own layer. I've looked all over and all I can find is the new image caption function. Has anyone successfully script this? I need help and if anyone has done this or is willing to help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Here's what I am trying to do:
Go throught the document and put a caption containing the name of each image in the document
Fill the caption text box with a color so it stands out
Center the caption on the image so a person can clearly identify what image the name belongs to
Put all captions on their own layer
I'd appreciate any help or assistance with this.
Thank you in advance!
DannyHi,
set the appearence of the caption by setting properties of the named objectstyle ....
--Tested: ID CS 5.5; OSX 10.7.4
property myObjectStyleName : "myCaption" --Name of Object Style for the caption. You can set the properties whenever you want ... Appearance is set here
property layerName : "captionLayerTest" --Name of the layer of the captions
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"
tell active document
set saveViewPreferences to properties of view preferences
set properties of view preferences to {vertical measurement units:millimeters, horizontal measurement units:millimeters}
if exists object style myObjectStyleName then
set myObjectStyle to object style myObjectStyleName
else
set myObjectStyle to make object style with properties {name:myObjectStyleName}
end if
if exists layer layerName then
set destLayer to layer layerName
else
set active layer to layer 1 whose index is 1
set destLayer to make layer with properties {name:layerName}
end if
set theLinks to every link
repeat with i from 1 to count of theLinks
set theLink to item i of theLinks
set {thePage, {y1, x1, y2, x2}, theName} to {parent page of parent of parent, geometric bounds of parent of parent, name} of theLink
set tfBounds to {(y1 + (y2 - y1) / 2) - 5, x1, (y1 + (y2 - y1) / 2) + 5, x2}
set tf to make text frame at thePage with properties {geometric bounds:tfBounds, applied object style:myObjectStyle, layer:destLayer}
set contents of tf to theName
end repeat
set properties of view preferences to saveViewPreferences
end tell
end tell
Hope it'll work
Have a nice day

CS5: Manual layer break dialog does not appear
Hi
If I would like to create a dual layer disc, the following message appears: "the disc requires a layer break" in CS5.
I set the layer break from "automatical" to "manual" and tried again but the message appears again and no dialog will be opened as Adobe stated in their help: "Manual: Opens the Set Layer Transition dialog box...".
I read a lot of people having problems with layer breaks in Encore but it seemed that nobody has solution.
Why does the layer transition dialog not pop up? Does anybody has the same problems with dialog not showing up?
My setup:
- Movie ProRes 442 HQ, 112min, 20 chapters (no error on transcoding)
- Main menu with "play" and "scene" button, animated video as intro (ProRes 442HQ)
- 2 scene menues with 10 video buttons each
- there is no error on project checking
- DVD+R DL, no problmes so far to write dual layer dvd's
- 8.14GB will be used on disc
Thans for any help, I am really frustrated.
Cheers,
gorbiI think I found a “cheat” solution. I figured out I needed to force the auto break (only option available in CS6 on a Mac), was to push the auto break down to some other place in the movie. I created 5 minutes of dummy black video, compressed it to the same specs as other videos, added that to the beginning of the offending timeline, cut it to 1 minute, created a second chapter marker right at the heads of the movie, linked the menu button to that chapter marker, and voila!, where ever Encore put the autobreak now doesn’t affect the movie play. It starts up right after the menu button is selected, just as it should. For anyone else having this problem, try this solution... seems to work well. I think that’s a good “thinking outside the box” solution.

The most bizarre activity ever in CS5...HELP!
We yesterday have just upgraded all our Macs from CS4 Design Standard to CS5 Design Standard. We were running smoothly all afternoon but now we've encountered really strange faults now we have turned our machines on this morning. I'll try to list the issues below, all these things have happened to both our Macs independently.
• The 'Rasterize Layer' option disappeared yesterday when you CTRL click on a layer...but now this morning it's there!
• All our keyboard shortcuts and menu preferences have been deleted from the onces we set yesterday. They are now back to their default.
• When we press 'DELETE' on a layer, yesterday it gave us options of fill with foreground colour, content aware etc. But now, it just knocks the layer out and doesn't give us any options at all!!
• Plus more little occurrences...
Has this got to to with out Apple XSERVE server do you think or is the problem local to each machine? We're running CS5 on Mac Pro's running Mac OS 10.5.8. How strange, can anyone help this is causing us major problems!
Thanks,
MarkI’m don’t have CS5 yet, but still:
• Are you sure yesterday’s layers were rasterize-able (text, smart object, pattern, …)?
• Did you save your custom Keyboard Shortcuts? If so just load them again …
(Other than that there seems to be a faulty installer about that causes users not to have the proper permissions for preferences and you might have to reset those permissions manually: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2790054#2790054)
• Delete is for deleting as per standard, shift-delete is for the Fill-dialog – was this possibly part of your customized Keyboard Shortcuts?
• Such as? -
Fireworks CS5, shared layer visibility per state ?
Hello,
First, sorry for my bad english writing.
In Fireworks CS5 when a layer is shared between different states, its visiblilty (eye icon) can be set by state whereas its locking (lock icon) is set for all states.
See yourself.
- Create a layer including one rectangle of instance
- Create several states
- Share the layer between states
- Navigate to two different states and set different visibility to that layer.
Is it a bug as I believe?
Because of this the only way to ensure all objects included in a shared layer won't appear in all states for instance, is to set each object visibility to hidden.
Thanks for your help.I use Fireworks exclusively for my day to day web development. This is how I make my living and not having it working is killing me.
I found this workaround:
Open the terminal application and then type:
sudo "/Applications/Adobe Fireworks CS5/Adobe Fireworks CS5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Fireworks CS5"
You will be asked to type in your password.
You can also use it to get your EM up and running again. (see below)
sudo "/Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS5/Adobe Extension Manager CS5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Extension Manager CS5" -

Latency in Dreamweaver CS5 ... help me speed it up ...
I hope someone can help me because this is driving me crazy. I was using CS3 for 3 years now and
it worked beautifully, but my company made me update ot CS5 today. This runs so slow and when I start typing the code
or select code from another document there this latency. I am using windows so I tried increasing the priority of the process application to "high", but nothing has worked. There must be something that can be done as this is intollerable.... BTW, I tried to call Adobe for help but they gave me the run around and were of no use whatso ever. Has anyone else ran into this issue and fixed it?Maybe if someone can tell me how to disable the service that validates my code for errors? I think that might speed things up. The validation of the code is cool and all, but I like to write the code myself and find my own errors. If I can't find it then I want to be able to turn it back on and search, but not automatically in real time ..... that is horrible.

Flash CS5 Newbie - Need help adding URL link to animated banner
I apologize if this is a very basic question, but I am a newbie at designing in Flash. I have created a basic animation in Flash CS5 and I need to add a clickable URL link to it. I've tried a few tutorials that looked promising, but none of them solved my problem. I've tried a number of things including converting parts or all of the images to simple buttons or movies and linking them that way as well as typing in code for ActionScript 2 and 3, none of which were successful. The animation plays correctly when viewed in my browser, but when I click on it, the link does not work. I would prefer that the entire banner be clickable to take viewers to the linked website rather than using hyperlinked text. Also, when I open the Code Snippets window, it is empty, no matter what image or frame I've selected. Do I need to import code snippets from somewhere or am I simply going about things the wrong way? Any help is greatly appreciated!
It all depends whether you're decisively using AS2.0 or AS3.0 .
In the latter, you would need to use a URLRequest() method in conjunction with a navigateToUrl() call (not sure the exact syntax for navigate to Url, it might be a capitalized "URL" in the method but the request takes a String argument such as http://www.adobe.com) -
CS5 Photoshop Offline Help No Search Result Malfunction
In summary the Adobe Community Help application or the "Launch Help in Browser" functions wont return any search results for the Adobe Photoshop CS5 OFFLINE reference.
I use my main design machine off the net. It's not often I reach for the help text, but I got a wierd problem when I did. I'm bang up to date with all CS5 updates and all the help content for CS5 has been downloaded and is flagged correctly as local and is up to date. (I've even tried unticking all the local CS5 help refferences in the options and re-downloading them).
If I search for say "brush" in the PS help, with the option "Local" selected, I get NO results! (and yet the help text / manual is clearly visible in the right hand pane of the "Adobe Community Help" application). If I try to use the "Online" option, that has no problem returning results.
Q: Why doesn't Adobe Community Help return ANY search results for ANY query searched on the PS5 local help?
The local search works (or appears to) for the other local refferences like Fireworks or Encore. Just not Photoshop.Hi Zeno, thanks for you reply, but I don't think you fully read my issue.
I'll post you some images and then you can see what I'm talking about:
As you can see the correct options are selected.
As you can also see the help has downloaded and is "Current".
As you can see when I search for something as simple as "brush" the "Adobe Community Help Application" returns nothing, lol.
Cheers.
