CS5.5 Mac - "Install" won't launch

Hi -
I'm brand new to this forum. If this question has already been answered, I apologize, but thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
Earlier today, I paid for a download of CS5.5 Design Premium for Mac, specifically from littlesoftshop.com. I launched the downloaded .dmg file, then clicked on the "Adobe CS5_5 Design Premium" icon. Next, I see 4 options: a "deploy" folder, an "Install" icon, a "packages" folder, and a "payloads" folder. Logically, I clicked "Install". When I do so, it acts as though it wants to open (icon quickly zooms towards me), but nothing launches. Each ensuing click does nothing.
I've restarted my computer, I've cleared the cache...just about everything short of reinstalling the OS (currently on 10.6.8, btw). Is there another method of getting the "Install" to run? I have a serial product number provided for me at purchase, but I can't even get anything running to finish the install. Your help would be greatly appreciate!
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Clicking on the .dmg file simply opened a window with an Adobe banner on top, then two options to click: a red "box" icon labeled "Adobe CS5_5 Design Premium" and a .pdf "Read Me" file. When I double click the red box, it shows me the 4 options I listed above, including "Install". I can't get it to run.
I currently have CS3 installed on my machine. While attempting to solve the above issue, restarting, clearing cache, then running the program "AppleJack" (that apparently helped others in the past), I've discovered (and quite frustratingly so) that NO Adobe program will open for me now. Everything else on my desktop is opening and functioning as normal, but all of the sudden, my computer hates Adobe. Wondering if perhaps solving whatever issue is in the way of my opening Adobe programs will also solve the problem of running the "Install" application for CS5.5?
At this point, I can't even get to a welcome screen to get started! Grrrrrr...
THANK YOU for your time!

  • Adobe cs5.5 trial won't launch

    This is driving me mad!
I have downloaded the trial version, i'm trying to launch on my mac running 10.7.2, I used to have CS3 but this no longer works with lion!
Tried to open photoshop for the first time today and it just won't lauch, I am in a neverending loop! I accept the software licence agreement, then it closes and pops up again. How can I open this trial version? Apparently the issue is someting to do with permissions, I am the administrator so can't understand why I wouldn't have full permissions?
    Thanks

Ahh, Adobe had a theft protection scheme that required you to activate their products on your computer. If you were using it on an older computer, or hard drive, you had to deactivate the software before it would license you to use it on another computer. The problem is you can't readily do that if the old computer is gone.
It's that something that could be of use?
If it applies to you, you would have to reinstall it on your older computer and then de-acivate it before installing it on another computer. Adobe started doing this with CS3, it didn't apply to my older CS2 stuff.

  • InDesign CS5 "unexpectedly quit" - won't launch

    Aloha,
I'm running OS X 10.8.4 with CS5.  About a month ago I moved my creative suite from an older computer to a new one.  I have been able to run Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreameweaver and Lightroom without issue, but when I try to launch InDesign I get a "InDesign unexpectedly quit" error message.
I've tried everything I can think of and everything I've found in these forums but nothing seems to be working.  Has anyone else run into this, and if so how were you able to fix this issue?  Thank you!

That's what I thought too, but I am having a tough time with that.  I downloaded cs5 as an upgrade to cs3.  The hard drive that I kept the backup install files on won't mount and my new computer doesn't have an optical drive to load a CD backup.
So I found where I could download just the InDesign install but when I launch that its giving me an error saying "Installer failed to initialize.  Please download Adobe Supprot Advisor to detect the problem." Which I did.
And When I launch the Support Advisor, it says "Inspection could not identify any issues."  Can you think of any work arounds?

  • Dreamweaver CS5 Mac - documents won't span monitors

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with CS5 that didn't happen with CS4 - I use twin 24" screens side by side, and dreamweaver won't let me drag a document any larger than one screen, even to the extent of snapping a document from the second screen back onto the first and resizing it if I attempt to resize it on the second screen bit by bit while nudging it back onto the first.
Dragging the bottom right corner onto the second screen stops at the edge of the first one. Seems a little odd, since there's a "Dual Screen" workspace layout.
Is this typical behaviour? It's really driving me nuts because I can't view my code structure without scrolling (or wrapping) any more.
I've never encountered this behaviour in an app before.
It's a fresh CS5 Master Suite install on a fresh Mac OS X 10.6.5 install.
    Thanks.

The Host Directory is blank, thus the root, which is working fine on the PC.
As far as I can see even thought they format the content in different locations seems all the settings are the same, and since I exported/imported the settings, they should be identical.
    CS5.5 v11.5 Build 5344
Also noticed this seems to be site specific as other sites work, yet this one does not... keep getting permission errors... have tried changing permissions to various choices, still no luck.. and again works with the permissions they already have on PC so makes no sense that is it.

  • New Lightroom2 install won't launch properly - error message

I installed Lightroom 2 and filled in new upgrade serial number etc. then quit. Now if I try to launch the app I get an error message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules". This appears first and if I click OK the Lightroom2 window appears but with nothing in it (no side panels, no photos) and Clicking on any of the modules prompts the same error message. Can't do anything at all. If I try to open my previous Lightroom1 catalogue it seems to be doing something but then the same error message appears.
I've repaired Permissions, verified Disk, trashed Lightroom1 and 2 preferences, rebooted without login items but nothing has changed or resolved the problem. I had no issues running Lightroom1 on this Mac.

    Problem solved!!
I was checking the differences between my normal admin User account/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom contents and the one on the clean other admin User folder in the same place and noticed that on the one that works there are a slew of folders in there (Develop Presets, Export Presets, External Editor Presets, Filename Templates, Filter Presets, etc etc). On the main admin account, there was only one, the first. So it seemed the install on that account didn't load all the needed info. I simply copied the missing folders from the account that worked into the Public folder, switched to my main account and added those missing folders in the proper place. Voilà!. Now Lightroom launches normally and I don't get the dreaded missing modules alert. Hurrah!

  • Yosemite install won't launch

Hello all, I've been googling to no avail.
I downloaded yosemite from the app store and wondered why it wasn't launching when it completed.  I opened up the console and tried to launch "Install OS X Yosemite.app" manually.  Immediately i came across the fact that the install had crashed.  Top level exception: "*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSConcreteTask terminationStatus]: task not launched'"
    Full crash report:
    http://pastebin.com/PpnTD0Lt
Anyone else?  My next thought was to create a bootable thumb drive and install that way but i have to go buy one

Well immediately found the issue.  Did a google on jamf itself...realized it was a corporate install deal for "casper", whatever that exactly is.  Once removed no problem.  Ill have to have my corp install again when their products don't interfere with OS updates.

  • Help--Mac Help won't launch.

My Mac Help application (G4 Powerbook, OS 10.3.9) has stopped launching. When I lick on the Help menu, the life preserver icon briefly appears in the Dock, then disappears again.
I had this problem once before when the machine was still under warranty, and I remember that the Apple techie had look in a folder nd discard several things--I think it involved a com.apple.something folder and a plst, but not certain--and after that Help worked fine again, but I can't find my notes. Would be most grateful if anyone could tell me how to fix this--thanks!

    hi,
you're right. you have to delete all the helpviewer preference files. here's how it works:
launch the find window (command f)
search on your local HD for files containing helpviewer in its name
in the search result window select all files with the .plist ending (located in the preferences folder) and delete them
relaunch helpviwer application, it should work properly again
i did it on my mac serveral times and it worked fine.
    hope it helps

  • Web browsers don't recognize that iTunes is installed, won't launch it

When I visit an app's page with my web browser, it doesn't recognize that iTunes is already installed. This message is shown:
"We are unable to find iTunes on your computer."
If I click on the "I Have iTunes" button, nothing happens. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes to no avail. This happens with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome.

I found this solution if you are using Chrome. It worked great for me!

The folder does seem to be there. Any ideas?
    Thank you!

No joy. I downloaded the Tweak UI per the knowledge base article. Unfortunately, it cannot find "My Music" folder. I have my music folder on a separate drive from where windows is housed. I tried moving my folder back to the c: drive but still no luck. I did get to a point where iTunes asked if I wanted to repair itself. I clicked yes but it appears it's still not right.
    Thanks much.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch after Mac update

I updated my mac yesterday to Maverick and now Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch.  Can you tell me what files I need to delete to get it to launch.  I tried reinstalling it, and that didn't help.
    thanks

It's very strange.  When I try to double click on the program to open it,
it's like I'm doing nothing.  it sort of blinks like it's going to open but
does nothing.  That's the way it is if I control click and try to open too.
I did try to reboot.  Is there something I could delete in the Library
    file or something?
    thanks

InDesign CS5 won't launch on Mac OS 10.8.3

    Hi Peter:
I was using InDesign CS5 on my Mac Book Pro 17 and then purchased a new MacPro. I Transferred everything to my new laptop and every thing works except for InDesign and my Microsoft applications such as word, and Excell.

  • Help! New install of CS 5.1 won't launch

Given the confluence of a 30% off sale and the new upgrade policy Adobe has rolled out, I decided to dive in and upgrade to Adobe CS 5.5, from CS 4. I'm using the Design Standard package. Everything downloaded and installed fine -- but for some reason Illustrator won't launch.
I double click the icon in the Finder, and it appears in my Dock, bounces a couple of times, and then vanishes.   I've uninstalled CS 5.5 and CS 4, and used Adobe's Creative Suite Cleaner to scrub all traces (including preferences) of pretty much all Adobe software from my Mac, and reinstalled CS 5.5, but the problem persists. I called Adobe's tech support, but they were unhelpful.
They kept insisting that I reinstall the app (already have) and that I try creating a new user account and see if it will launch from that account (I did, but it won't).   Eventually, my cell phone died, so that ended that route for finding help.
I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this issue. Every other app in the installation is working perfectly, but Illustrator won't budge.   Any ideas?

Other CS5.5 apps open properly after reinstall?
    System specs?
I would call them back - you should be covered for install issues until they are resolved, I would hope!

  • TS4412 Aperture 3.4.3 simply won't launch from a fresh install

So, I just purchased Aperture from the App Store, and it won't launch.
    I tried the advice here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4412
To no avail. Since the app hasn't launched, there is no preference file to delete.
The only other variables, of course, would be my hardware and OS, but all of that is up to date.
I kind of need the app running... Any idea what's happening?
    Cheers,
    T

Do you have Final Cut installed? The crash dump has all the signs of the classic Final Cut /Aperture conflict.
If so the easiest way to fix the situation is to just install the operating system Mountain Lion again. Re-installing the OS will not damage your data files however is it always a good idea to have a full backup in cases lie this.
