CS5.5 on Mountain Lion (PowerPC error)
Hellow all, I'm hoping someone might be able to advise me on this.
I am installing CS5.5 Design Premium on Mac OSX v10.8.2 Mountain Lion. The Mac is mid-2011 3.1GHz Intel Core i5. The problem is I keep receiving the error message "You can't open the application "install" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." This is strange since CS5.5 is not a PowerPC application.
I have tried the script provided by adobe to remove the preference for launching CS in rosetta, however since it is not installed yet, it is having no effect.
I am installing off a USB stick provided to me by a reseller who provided me with a legitimate activation key. I have tried installing both from the USB stick directly and off the Mac desktop.
Adobe's customer support say to contact either Apple or the reseller and won't provide me with an alternative link to download a fresh version of CS5.5. They also say that installing it from any other media won't work as it is an OEM activation key.
If anyone has any ideas at this point I'd be very glad of them!

I have already started the download from that site. I seem to have found that the software provided to me has become decompressed either before it was supplied or maybe at my end. So rather than just 1 DMG file to install, I have 3 folders and 1 file named "Install". When I click" Install" I receive the error as above. I would imagine that when I go to install the new downloaded version it will be OK.
I am now just waiting on the 1mb internet connection to finish the download!

New iMac with OS X Mountain Lion. Canocan 9950F II, bought new because my old 9950F was not supported by Mac. Driver installed from CD, everything fine, worked perfectly. After some time of not using the scanner, I tried to scan a document now. It did not work. It says it cannot find the scanner although everything is plugged in and switched on. And then the message that PC Power is no longer supported. HELP!!!
Check the Canon Web Site for new software and download the software for Mac OS X (Intel Mac) or select Intel Mac from the install disk.
I checked the Canon Support Site, but there isn't a 9950F Mark II on the U.K Site, but there is a 9000F Mark II.
The messgae you are getting suggests the PowerPC software version has been installed instead of the Intel Version. -
OS X Mountain Lion download error
receiving error message "The application could not be downloaded" Download starts and gets to about 120mb then stops and returns error message. Console log shows 'failed to authorize right 'system.install.apple-software'

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. It's ok to do this even though your Mac is already running v10.7.4.
Then try downloading Mountain Lion.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

"Unknown error has ocurred" message when trying to buy Mountain Lion on my MacAir laptop. Apple ID and password are operative with IPhone device but will not operate with ITunes purchase of Mountain Lion and ITunes advisor simply referred me to these discussion communities. What to do???

When I try to download OS X Mountain Lion from the app store I get the following message "An error occured while running scripts from the package "mzps8185591984996783701.pkg"." and will not progress past this point. Can any advise how to complete the downlowd to update the OS?

HELP!!! Mountain Lion Install Error, computer won't boot!
Today I downloaded OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Once it finished, I installed it. It rebooted and came up with the error "Install Failed, Macinstosh HD is damaged and cannot be repaired". Macintosh HD is (and has been) operating correctly, after running tests on it about 1 week ago. But, the worst part is that when I boot into the Recovery Partion of the HD, it will not let me reinstall Lion, it just comes up with the error "Error", no discription. Already called Apple, they could not fix it. Anyone else had this problem? Please help, thanks.

i cant download osx mountain lion it gets part way and then reports an error has occurred.....my imac is mid 2007 so is supposed to be able to be updated....i have been charged but cannot update.....!! help appreciated (ive tried to download 7 times now....
- Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
- Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
- Third party download managers are not compatible with the App Store.
For downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is Gstrongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Keep in mind, If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
Mountain Lion is a 4.34GB file. If you are using a slow internet connection, the download may be timing out before it can finish. Your ISP determines your download speeds. Check with your ISP for upgrade options.

Your iMac should be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. -
I have a mid 2012 Mac Mini, The kids had used this Mac for 6 months, So I needed it back, It had OSX Lion, the idea was to erase, format and reinstall Mountain Lion, run Disk first aid, everything good.
Already had Mountain Lion on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion install went perfect last month on the MBP with a reformatted, erased drive.
So on the mini I went to the app store and downloded Mountain Lion, Installed it twice, both times a "Damaged File" error occurred, downloaded 3 more times uninterupted, still same error, restarted and downloaded ML twice via WiFi, New error, "Install Failed" both times, Downloaded ML on my MBP, made a USB stick install drive, twice with "Install Failed" error.
Do I have a 15 month old brick, I convinced my new wife that Macs are more stable and last longer as I have owned Macs since 1995, Help.Have you tried running Apple Diagnostics to see if there are any hardware errors showing up?

I purchased new Macbook Air.When I download free Mountain Lion is given by Macbook,which is taking 8-10 hrs to download a littile bit and showing error message,try again...but I could not download and Instal the same.again and again showing error message.when I download this Macbook is going to sleep mode and pause.How can I cure this?PLease help me.Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Some ISP's have a download quota that limits download sizes. Mountain Lion is a 4.35GB file.
Check with your internet service provider. You also may need to upgrade to broadband high speed internet since Mountain Lion Recovery requires broadbaand access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection.
Check Sleep settings in System Preferences > Energy Saver. -

I have purchased OS X Mountain Lion yeterday through App store. But I am receiving unknown error{no error code appeared} scree and it stop downloading the os.
The specific error received by me after completing download up to 2.99 / 3.05 gb.

You should always be doing regular backups. Disks can fail at any time; so can other components; directories can get corrupted beyond repair, users can make mistakes, etc.
You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
If you don't like Time Machine, see Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #27 for some alternatives.
Did you purchase AppleCare with your Mac? If so, the drive will be replaced at no charge. -

purchased Mountain Lion updates for a whole computer lab and having trouble on the last 4 computers. an error has occurred. no option to redownload.
Have you tried Check for Unfinished Downloads from the App Store > Store menu?

How can I install Mountain Lion OS... I get error message saying a Recovery System can't be created... Any help or ideas out there?
After a week of dealing with AppleCare we discovered there was a corrupted recovery disk on my hard drive when i upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, therefore not allowing the upgrade to Mountain Lion. So ended up backing up the computer, then formatting the computer and reloading SNOW LEOPARD then upgraded straight to Mountain Lion, then restored my user files. This has worked, and am so grateful to AppleCare for their tireless help with diagnosing and helping to sort this out! they've been fantastic!

Mountain Lion Installation Error
Hello All,
Please advise as I'm getting following error message when installing OSX Mountain Lion.
"This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."
I've tried re-downloading so many times but still getting the same error.
Tried to run the set up with 32 bit still no luck.
Already went to Apple Service Center, Genius over there was asking me to re-download with different ISP which I did but still the same. He even mentioned to me that if all the options didn't work, he advised me to re-install my lion and download and upgrade to Mountain Lion but which I don't feel like doing it as I need to back up all my data and install the Apps again.
I'm getting frustrated of re-downloading and installing again and again. It's been like already 30 times since I purchase.
Please help me out.
Thanks.This thread was very helpful, I also had many issues with failed install first causing me to have to go back and rebuild my hard drive from Time Machine backups, and later repeated failed attempts at downloading Mountain Lion again. Writing this review on iPad while Mountain Lion appears to be successfully installing, finally.
In addition to the notes in this thread, I want to add a couple of my own.
Make a bootable backup drive copy before you start. I ended up purchasing Carbon Copy Cloner, but I noticed later there was something else installed on my iMac that said it also was capable of making a bootable backup called Get Backup 2 RE. I only have experience with CCC, and it works very well. See another thread, link below for more details related to that.

When I first tried to follow the suggestions in this thread, I had a couple of failures. Once I really got started up in safe mode, I first tried to use the ML install that I had previously downloaded. When that did not work, I redid the download while in safe mode, and then everything completed. I very recently while keying this message got ML up for the first time. Before I start experimenting, I plan to make a new bootable backup first. Hope these tips help others!
