Cs5.5 Pay for a point upgrade?

I bought Cs5 a month ago as my work laptop has it but I felt my better specked home machine more suitable. I read about the 5.5 update and find to my surprise I’m not eligible my serial number arrived 3/3/11 .I would expect to pay to upgrade between versions but a point upgrade really? I’m feeling undervalued by Adobe. I suppose the leading graphics software producer can be belligerent with its position.
I mainly use Pixel logic’s Zbrush for my 3d design work. I feel I have been spoiled by their customer care in ten years each point and full upgrade has been free.
I doubt I’ll pay to upgrade why risk it 5.6 will arrive the day after and I won’t be eligible for that either.
By the time cs6 arrives we shall have all moved to let’s say ipad3 and we know how well apple and adobe play together.
Do the right thing Adobe, support me for a year or loose me. You’re not the only game in town. The times they are a changing.

If I make a product that contains flaws, I wouldnt charge to repair it, which is in essence what a point upgrade is
It isn't! Clearly, as a person in touch with the 3D world, even if only tangentially by ways of ZBrush, you are aware about standing complaints of fellow artists about lack of advancement and fixes in Autodesk's forced yearly product upgrades, things breaking with every release and what have you. Or would you like me to tell you which things Maxon broke in Cinema 4D R12 that worked perfectly in 11.5? So for what it's worth, your statement makes no sense whatsoever - there is not a single software on this planet that is free of "flaws" or bugs, even ZBrush. it's simply impossible with a few million lines of code and entire teams of programmers working on it and those programmers being humans... Aside from that, I could go into endless discussions about "as designed" vs. "as understood by the user", but let's just say that what you may consider a flaw may be perfectly meant to be this way. Other than that, if you have serious bugs and feature requests, simply report them here. Everything else is beside the point. as for grace periods and such, consider some of what I wrote in this thread. And yeah, Marian has a point - if all you are worried about is Photoshop, then you have caused a stirr for nothing. There is no PS CS5.5 and you can peacefulyl wait for CS6 around this time of year next year, presumably.

  • You're kidding me... I have to pay for Acrobat X upgrade TWICE???

I own CS 5 and purchased the Acrobat X Pro upgrade in December. Now I see CS5.5 prominently features Acrobat X yet there is no discount for people who already OWN Acrobat X and paid $199 for that privilege just 4 short months ago. The customer service rep I spoke to said there was no discount for people who already bought Acrobat X Pro and, sensing my rising blood pressure, suggested that I could sell the previous Acrobat X Pro upgrade to offset the cost. Yeah, why didn't I think of that. ...jerk.
So, people, don't ever let Adobe tempt you with an "off cycle" Acrobat upgrade if you own a CS. You'll just have to pay for it twice. Sorry Adobe, I will hold on to my money and wait for CS 6, if that is what you really want me to do.
Very disappointing. And a lesson learned.

Users who have Acrobat 9 Pro as part of the CS5 collections cannot use the upgrade for the point product.
I don't understand... I don't need and would'nt have any use of a second copy of Acrobat Pro. I aldeady have One, paid 6 weeks ago (on the 12/02/2011) at 199$. If I remember correctly, the Acrobat 9 Pro I had was bought as I upgraded from CS3 to CS3.3. And I upgraded to CS4, then CS5... And I saw a touring show from a team from Adobe, in Montreal about all the marvelous thing Acrobat X was to do... last december. So I decided to pay the 200$ for the upgrade.
I have been pouring good money in the last 5 years into Adobe's pocket... and I was not complaining because I did feel there was some fair play : I was not forced to upgrade and when I choose to, I had for something my money.
Now there is something fudged into this Acrobat Pro thing that is sometime include and sometime not include into the bundle... What do I have now, with my lonely upgraded copy of Acrobat... ? Something I will just throw away when I upgrade to 5.5 or 6 ?
This is not the kind of service and intelligence I am accustomed from Adobe. Too big ? The machine already too hungry ?? It's a shame.

  • Do you have to pay for the macbook upgrade?

Hey guys! I recently bought a used MacBook os x 10.5.8, I changed the admin user ( http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-73393-change-mac-admin-password-without-the-d isk ) And now I want to access the mac app store, but now I hear that you have to upgrade your mac to do that, but before upgrading I have one question: Do you have to pay for the upgrade, because people say that you have to pay 30$ and on the youtube I see that you can easily press the "Software update" and you just folow some further steps such as ''next'' , wait few minutes and it's done ! So I don't get it !!! or maybe if you entered the credit card details on iTunes it will charge you automatically ?  Yeah, that's my question

  • I just bought a Mac Book Pro and why do I now have to pay for the OS X upgrade?

I just bought a Mac Book Pro about a month ago and now I have to pay for the OS upgrade!!! Is there anyway to avoid this charge?

Click on the  in the top left corner, then About This Mac. The version number will be listed right under OS X.
If it is something like 10.8.3 or 10.8.4 (anything starting with 10.8.x), you can click Software Update to download 10.8.5 for free.

    Hello Pushtheriver,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iCloud storage issues:
    Get help using iCloud storage
    This may also help:
    Understanding iOS device capacity
You can sync and download many different types of content on your device. Some types of content (such as music and videos) typically take more space than others (such as notes and books). The amount of space taken by an app depends on the app's purpose; complex or graphically intense apps usually take more space than simpler apps.
If your device is near its capacity, you can remove some of the less used content to make room for more.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Re-upgrading to Lion without paying for it?

Recently my hard drive crashed (It had Lion installed on it.) Once I got a new hard drive, the software was at 10.6.8 instead of Lion. Is there anyway I can upgrade back to Lion without having to pay for it again? Thanks

Auguest 2011 means you might have gotten lucky and received a "middle ground" system that *can* run SL but was delivered with Lion because that is now standard.
Cold-install (no existing Recovery Partition) is not my string point.  I know what to do when there is a Recovery Partition.
It is late and the regular contributors might not have noticed your posting yet.  They may ring in tomorrow and fill in.
My apporach to this would be to save the SL that you have, as you may ultimately prefer SL ... or not.
    Get an external self-powered disk
    Download CarbonCopyClone (free download)
Make a bootable clone of SL startup disk
When your clone boots (using the "option" key at startup), either follow the advice of other contributors or ask the store to re-install Lion if you really want it.  You have the SL saved.
I am not trying to slam Lion.  I am just saying that passing up the opportunity to save a working SL is not somwething I would do.
Besides, clones are always good to keep around for when the internal disk dies (you know for a fact they die eventually).

  • How can I upgrade my iCloud account's storage but pay for the upgrade with another Apple ID?

I want to upgrade my iCloud account so that I can back-up my iPhone, however I would like to pay for the upgrade using a different Apple ID than the Apple ID associated with my iCloud account. I can not figure out how to do this, when I hit buy after selecting my desired plan it wants be the buy the upgrade with the Apple ID my iCloud account uses. Please help!

I don't think that's possible.  (If you're trying to get it on another credit card, one option would be to purchase an iTunes gift card with it and redeem it to create an iTunes store credit.  Storage upgrades will first charge your iTunes store credit before charging your card.)

If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while

I can not upgrade from version 9.1.5 to 9.2.3 on my IMAC free?? I have to pay for this upgrade?

That is a free update (not an upgrade) what happens when you try? How are you trying to update? did your Mac come with restore disks or did you download software form teh App Store? Have you logged onto the App store and checked purchased software for updates?

  • I get an error message saying 'An error has caused Photoshop to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available'. I have had no notification. My old Photoshop CS5 works fine, but as I'm paying for CC2014

I get an error message saying 'An error has caused Photoshop to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available'. I have had no notification. My old Photoshop CS5 works fine, but as I'm paying for CC2014 I would like to use it. I have tried renaming the 'sniffer' file to 'snifferold' as bobmiller4002 suggested but the problem is not resolved. Lightroom works fine.

    Hi Nancy,
I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.
    My system;
    Packard bell imedia S2885
    1TB hard drive
    500G RAM
    Windows 8.1   64- bit
    Intel core i5 4440
If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.
             Thanks,
                        Dan.

To use Photo Stream, you will need iPhoto 9.2 at least. This is a major upgrade from iPhoto 7.1.5 and you will have to buy it.

  • Do I have to pay upfront for my new upgraded phone?

I'm eligible to upgrade two of my phones, and I just want to know if I have to pay for them upfront, or will Verizon bill me for them?

The tablet version came out some months before the phone version, if I recall.
Not sure why the decision was made to make them two separate apps. I can say that they're practically the same app, just that one's UI is designed for tablets while the other is designed for phones. You can't use the tablet version in portrait orientation on a tablet. Likewise, you can't use the phone version in landscape orientation. This all may change. Autodesk's SketchBook tablet app could only work in one orientation (landscape) until a few versions later where it could finally change to either landscape or portrait.
