Cs5 64 bit Crashes on Windows 7
Hi,
I have been trying to get phone support for two days now. Here's the issues:
Photoshop 64 bit AND the new After Effects (also 64 bit in CS5) will not run. Splash screen starts then just says "Windows has encountered a Problem" and they crash. The 32 bit apps work fine (as does Premiere CS5 Pro so far).
System info:
Intel i7 CPU 3.07 Ghz
9 GBS RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 (certifed CS5 Card)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Error Reports from Event Viewer:
For Photoshop 64 bit = "Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll"
For AE = "Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\09\01\Intel32\iuser.dll"
As I have been unable to get phone support from adobe, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Edward
After reading this thread, I can also confirm the Wacom drivers are the problem. I was experiencing the same 64-bit program "errors" and the following steps eliminate the problem:
1) Run msconfig.exe
2) Go to the "Services" tab and scroll down until you find the "TabletServiceWacom" entry.
3) "Uncheck" this Service, click on "Apply" and then click on "OK".
4) You should receive a "Restart" message.
5) Restart and you should be able to run the 64-bit Adobe programs without error.
I'm also using the "latest' Wacom tablet driver, v. 6.1.5-3a.
Has anyone tried an "earlier" version of the Wacom drivers to see if it eliminates the problem?

Photoshop CS5 64-bit Crashing due to CoolType.dll
Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Adobe's fairly useless tech support, who asked me to do all the things I had already tried (delete prefs, turn of Font Preview, rename the scripting support plug-in, turn off OpenGL, etc.) in order to find out why my Photoshop CS5 64-bit on Windows 7 started crashing whenever I tried to use the text / type tool or opened a document with a type layer selected.
He thought he was done giving "support" when he said "Well, I suggest you just use the 32-bit version". When I reminded him that that didn't actually find / fix / solve the problem, he put me on hold again, then told me to use the System File Checker (sfc.exe) tool to check CoolType.dll, which is what's crashing Photoshop.
He told me that I would have to call Microsoft, because CoolType.dll is a system file and Adobe doesn't support those.
Hmm, I guess he didn't realize that CoolType.dll is an ADOBE system file that ADOBE put on my system.
Anyway...anybody know how to fix / replace CoolType.dll so that I can go back to using the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS5? I checked Adobe's website and couldn't find anyplace to download the current version.
Thanks in advance!
GensyI'm having this issue too. Not sure if I have two issues or it's all related to this. Most of the time, when I go to a folder to save an image, the program just dissapears with no error message at all and all my work is lost. Anything I did during that session in PS is lost, including any modification of preferences, new actions made, etc. I have tried reinstalling window 7 and CS5 and even on a clean system the problem occurs. I have also tried uninstalling all non-essential fonts and deleting the font cache. And, all the stuff you mentioned such as preferences in PS and dissabling OpenGL, etc. and have had three Microsoft tech sessions. They don't see any evidence of the crash on my system so can't help with it.

Photoshop CS5 64-bit crashes when opening an image; 32-bit works fine
This is a bit of a tricky problem, but if I start up Adobe Photoshop CS5 64-bit, it runs alright. But the second I choose an image and open it, I get "Photoshop has stopped working..." and Windows tries to find a solution.
However, the 32-bit version of PS CS5 works perfectly.
On my Mac Mini, however, which ONLY HAS Photoshop 64-bit (Creative Suite 5, Snow Leopard, latest updates), images open and edit fine.
On my PC, I also had this same exact problem with the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS4.
I read in a few forums that it might be a corrupt font, etc., but I have no idea why a corrupt font would be affecting how Photoshop 64-bit opens an image, especially if I don't even get a chance to edit the image or anything. The images I've been trying to update are JPEGs.
I have all of the updates installed on my PC regarding CS5. It's completely updated. I am really stuck. I'd like to be able to take advantage of the 64-bit technology and put that version of Photoshop to use, but I can't.
Thanks in advance. I'm willing to try anything at this point.Here you go, copied straight from the event viewer console.

I did my best to recreate it to look the way it looks in the console, so nothing should be confusing.
Also, @Chris Cox- I do have the most recent beta driver installed for my onboard graphics card, which is an Nvidia GeForce 6150SE, maybe that could be causing it. I will uninstall it and install the most recent recommended release from Nvidia's site. -
Photoshop CC 2014 64-bit crashes on Windows 8
I recently installed the trial version of the new Photoshop CC 2014, in addition to Audition. Audition works just fine, but when I tried to run Photoshop, it crashes immediately with the typical "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" error. I've tried every solution I've found in the forums, including updating my graphics drivers, system drivers, Windows updates, renaming SLCache folders, and a few others. Absolutely nothing is working. Here is my system info and the error as recorded in Event Logs.

These identify your Intel display driver as the problem. Chances are their implementation of one or more OpenGL API calls has a bug.
Check Intel.com to see if Intel has released an updated display driver for your hardware and OS. It may well be that they've already released a driver that fixes the bugs.
Failing to get a resolution from that, you may be able to change the OpenGL drawing mode Photoshop uses. Go into your Photoshop Edit - Preferences - Performance panel, click the [Advanced Settings], and try lowering the Drawing Mode. You'll have to close and reopen Photoshop after any changes there before testing.
Good luck!

Lync 2013 SP1 64 bit crashes on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1
Systems Involved:
Dell OptiPlex 9020 All in One (080) –Crashes Lync 2013 64bit SP1
Dell OptiPlex 9020 All in One (081) –Crashes with Lync 2013 64bit SP1 -Working okay with 2010 so far
Dell OptiPlex 9020 All in One (083) –Clean install Seems to be working okay
Details of the problems
I have a put in place 2 Dell OptiPlex 9020 All in One’s both with network card Intel I217-LM.
The first system (080) I put place crashed several times before, I put a different new 9020AIO (083) that I created a new with clean install from disk of Windows 7 and Office 2013 64 bit with Lync 2013 64 bit upgraded to SP1. After having this
system side by side with the system that was crashing all the time and network capturing software installed on the new system this issue appeared to disappear. The user has not reported an issue with Lync 2013 in three to 4 weeks.
After thinking this was an issue with Office 2013-upgraded SP1. I decided to create a new image Windows 7 and Office 2013 64 bit SP1 intergraded .iso from web store. (Not upgraded) thinking there was something wrong with the SP 1 upgrade the way I intended
it to work. I reimaged the other 9020’s I have including the one (080) that was having the crashing issues.
The second system (081) is a new image I created, the system got some office updates from the WSUS it should not have been updated with and Lync 2013 was also crashing. I decided to reimage (080) a clean format with the new image. I put this system in
place for the user knowing it was clean install and not have any issue but for the last 2 weeks Lync 2013 has crashed.
I did take their old system back to my desk and was able to get it to crash as well. I decided to see if this problem was with Lync so I installed Lync 2010 I have not seen issue with 2010 yet.
I have also rolled out 2 Dell OptiPlex 7010 towers with the same image as above with no issues so it seems like this issue is only related to the 9020AIO.
Issue:
The computer will operate fine for most of the time but Lync 2013 will crash with not responding, please sign into Lync on the phone (Plantronics D540m). I get windows circle thing spinning and Lync is not responding if you close the
program it will try to run solution finder but there is not anything that will help. The only way to fix this issue is to reboot at this time. At first I thought it was the network driver issue for Intel I217-LM but after installing the usb network
adapter I believe the issue is something related to Lync 2013 SP1
Things I have tried
1. System Event : Application Log pulled I will include below in this message
2. 9020 with Intel I217-LM
3. Update driver version = to current version
4. Change power management settings as outlined http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/p/19523337/20460673.aspx
5. Disable Wireless and Bluetooth
6. Reset users Lync account
7. USB Network Adapter.
Event Logs:
1.The program lync.exe version 15.0.4569.1503 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Then I get about 10 Office Software Protection Platform before the above error logs occur.Does the issue disappear when you uninstall the update?
If so, it seems that the Lync update is incompatible with your computer.
Please try to uninstall Lync 2013 SP1.

Photoshop CS5 32 Bit Installation Errors, Windows 7 Ultimate
Today I did a second install of Photoshop CS5, in a 32 bit Windows 7 virtual machine that is otherwise in fine health (up to date, yada yada).
The Photoshop installer package I had used prior to do a perfectly successful installation on my x64 Windows 7 system didn't have quite as good luck on my 32 bit system... It wouldn't do a default install at all, and even when I disabled UAC and configured all the options disabled (no need for 'em for my testing), it still emitted some errors - though in the latter case it actually completed the Photoshop installation and I was able to run Photoshop.
Note that after the first failure I disabled UAC. All installs done from an administrator account, though I did not run the installer as administrator while UAC was on.
This is not a big deal - what I needed to test with did finally get installed, but I thought Chris or someone at Adobe might like to know what the installer barfed on. Here's what it reported:
First install, failed utterly:

-NoelThis is for people who might find this thread via a search:
The errors I reported above (e.g., those with the .otf fonts) are related to the configuration of the "3 gigabyte address space" option, invoked by the switch /3GB in boot.ini (XP) or bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072 (Windows 7 and Vista), which is what I was experimenting with when doing this installation.
I dropped back to the default 2 GB setting (bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2048) and tried a reinstall to confirm, and indeed the install went through smoothly.
Trying to increase your address space in a Windows 32 bit operating system through tweaking has known downsides; consider moving up to an x64 operating system instead to be able to access more RAM.

LabVIEW Developer Suite 2010 32 bit crashes on Windows 7 64 bit
I have a new Laptop, fresh install.

I get the initial LabVIEW 2010 Splashscreen, showing make company and license then I get the following error:

LabVIEW 10.0 Development System has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.Hi N4KSS,
Can you try to repair the LabVIEW installation and see if this helps to resolve the issue? Here is a KB titled "How can I Repair my LabVIEW Installation?" that describes the process.
Also, is the installation being performed from a LabVIEW 2010 CD or from a downloaded installation?

I have had this problem intermittently for years with different versions and different computers, but this time it is not going away. I need to use the 64 bit version for large files, but it keeps crashing in several different ways.
1- I open the program from the desktop. It shows the spash screen, shows the workspace for a couple of seconds, and then crashes with the message:

I am using the latest version.
My video card drivers are totally up to date.
I am using a decent computer with 16 gig of ram.
I am opening the program as an administrator.
I have reset the prefrences too many times to count by deleting the prefrences and holding down ctrl+alt+shift at startup.
2- If by some wild stretch of the imagination I get the program to start with totally cleared prefrences and running as administrator then the program will crash about 75% of the time when using "Save As".
If I try to do anything special like create a new folder to put the file into then the chances of a crash increase greatly.
3- If I try to open up a file from Lightroom, even if the files are opening every other way, Photoshop will crash very often.
What is going on here? I have made no changes to my computer, have not installed any new programs, and, as I stated earlier, have everything updated. I even stopped using plugins a long time ago because I did not want to take the chance that it was going to cause this fragile program to crash, so all plugins are uninstalled. Why does this keep happening? When this has happened before everything will work fine for months and then suddenly I cannot get the program to open. When it does open again, for seemingly as unknown a reason as when it stopped, it will work anywhere from a few minutes to another couple of months.
This seems to be a problem that tons of people have, but I have not been able to find any answer other than "Delete Settings" or "Run as Administrator" or "Update *****."
What can I do to keep this from happening and to fix it when it happens?Update - Problem Solved.
The problem turned out to be with with Avast. I found other people that were having the same problem with Outlook and they pointed to this problem. The live scripts protection seems to have been causing the crash on startup. Why it was intermittant at first and got worse I have no idea, but since disabling Avast temporarily while starting I have not had the problem again. Now I am just going to have to start shopping for more Photoshop friendly antivirus software.
Thank you for the advice Mylenium, unfortunately (or actually fortunately for me) I did not have any 64 bit conflicts.
The other action that I took was to remove all programs installed since the problem started. This did not fix the problem but it certainly cannot hurt to keep everything that I am not using off the computer anyways. -
CS5 32-bit opens with no menu, empty actions window
When I open CS5 32-bit the main window has nothing in it but a white background. There are no menu items or toolbox. The Actions window open completely blank (transparent except for the frame). The application is unresponsive to any mouse commands (trying to grab and move the window doesn't do anything).
Task Manager shows that it's consuming around 12% CPU time and around 73 MB memory.
Last week I was editing some photos when I got an error that an action could not be performed because of a program error. I haven't been able to use the 32-bit version ever since, but the 64-bit version is fine.
I've removed CS5 and reinstalled it. I've also rebooted several times.
I need the 32-bit version so I can use DFine2.
Anyone seen this?I use the Nik suite, and I removed all of the Nik apps when I removed CS5.
I'll try the Ctrl-Shift-Alt on startup after I finish with this batch of photos I'm working on.
If that doesn't work my next plan is to remove CS5, all the Nik software, then clean my registry and reinstall it all.
Any reason I should remove CS4 also?

Photomerge crashing in CS5, 64 bit
Hello all.
I've seen recent posts about Photomerge crashing, I tried all the workarounds and remedies to no success. I run as Admin and still crashes, and only Photomerge is causing to crash. All other presets and automates are working just fine. I've deleted all Temp files and App Data, still nothing.
My stats are:
Windows 7 Professional
Intel i7 vPro (2860Qm @ 2.5GHz)
16GB Ram
Nvidia Quadro 2000M (lastest drivers, 266.96)
Scratch disk is 200GB and I'm using about 9GB of Ram
So I don't think it's my computer that's the problem, but either the javascript file for the automate or possible update? Any idea on what else I should check?
Thanks,
PhilOh yeah a bunch of Red errors:

Converting 32bits image to 8bits cause Photoshop CS5 64 Bits to crash
Everything is in the title. I removed my nVidia Display drivers in safe mode and reinstalled, the problem persist. I reset my PS settings... same problem.
It works only in Photoshop 32bits.
Any ideas of what is going wrong?Here is it:

Thanks in Advance.Ok so I downloaded the most current installer CS5.1, My previous installer was version 5.0. It did install fine fully updated to my license version. I just wanted to update in case anyone in the future has a similiar experience. Too bad this advice was not offered by the "experts" here.

CS5.5 Mac crashes every time I change Window Size in Design View
I'm using DW CS5.5 (version 11.5 build 5344) in Lion 10.7.3. I added in a couple of window sizes (in Preferences) that correspond to iPhone and Android phones - 320x480, 480x320, 480x800, 640x960. The 640x960 one works, as does a 592w one that came with Dreamweaver. Any of the other ones, though, cause the app to hang in this one particular file I'm editing. However, in the simple jQuery Mobile starter page DW creates, these resolutions work fine. This appears to be related to some CSS code that I have inside of a CSS media selector:
@media screen and (max-width:480px)
There is also a corresponding
@media screen and (min-width:481px)
in the CSS.
To test this, I created a window size of 481x320, and that seemed to work completely fine without crashing DW. The 480x320 one crashes DW. I assume that's because it's using the different CSS section.
Pasted below is the CSS code that goes along with the section that seems to cause the crashing:
@media screen and (max-width:480px) {
.column {
margin: 1em 0;
border-bottom: 1px dashed #7b96bc;
#visit, #points, #main {
width: 100%;
.taplist li {
width:50%;
#map {
display:none;
.header {
display:none;
To further test this out, I commented out all of the code within that block. The window sizes did not cause it to crash then. I then started to add back in pieces of code to see when it began to crash. The crashing seemed limited to the bottom two (#map and .header), although it wasn't consistent. In some situations the window sizes would work and in others they would crash. I didn't test every combo just because it took a lot of time. With both of those in place, though, every one of the 480 or less sizes crashed.
Notable, the #map section is commented out in the HTML, however including that in the CSS still causes intermittent crashing.
I also deleted my cache file to see if that was it, and no luck.

display:none;Thanks very much Chris for pointing me in the right direction. I downloaded FontDoctor, and it found one questionable font which I deleted. However CS5 continues to crash when selecting the Design Workspace. So I followed the steps outlined in the Adobe document you linked. When I got to the point of downloading the FontTest.jsx file and ran it, CS5 crashed right away without writing any log file. I turned on app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.YES, and CS5 is crashing with a TypeError: undefined is not an object. So I don't know if this is related to my original problem, or not. Any thoughts on how to proceed to get the FontTest script to run properly? I took all of the normal defaults when I installed CS5 (e.g., didn't select any alternate paths, don't have any add-ons installed, etc.).

Can't start CS5 64-bit in Windows 7
Can't seem to find an exact fix for this problem. I reinstalled Windows 7 (64-bit version), and of course had to reinstall all applications. Verified I'm running Win7-64 bit, but now when I launch Photoshop CS5-64 bit, I only get an error message that says "System unable to find file specified", even though the file is listed in the proper place by Explorer. I'm able to launch CS5-32 bit version normally, but of course that version limits the RAM available to about 3GB and I have 16GB installed. I'm able to successfully launch Lightroom 3 in 64-bit mode.
I've tried uninstalling Photoshop CS5, rebooting and re-installing in a different location with a fresh download of CS5 from Adobe.com but still always the same error message that "System cannot find file specified" when launching.
Any ideas on how to fix this?Many thanks.
I think you've got two different types of problem going on at once here. Let's try clearing this second error out of the way first.
the second is "Error writing to file: C:\ Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Webkit.resources\inspector\Images\timelinePillGreen.png. Verify that you still have acess to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through without that particular error message afterwards? (Whether this works or not, we still might have to deal with the system services message.) -

This is the only application I'm having trouble with. The error occurrs as soon as the software starts up.
How do I fix this?
The problem with using Explorer to copy the files from the camera disc is that the raw files are in a format that
my movie making/DVD burning software doesn't recognize. Using PMB on my older computer isn't really an option, because the files are big and hard to transfer to this computer. Is there any other way to import movies from the camera onto my computer?Hi,
