CS5 and Bridge

Hello,
I'm working with windows7 and after re-installing CS5 web premium I can't find Bridge? After the first install all was perfect.
Has somebody a  solution?
Thanks.

I am not a PC expert, but I think most users would highly recommend a clean install rather than a copied one.
CS5 installs in numerous directories on the C drive and it may not get all the directories copied.
I would uninstall and install from the disk or the copy you hopefully saved of the download.
Be sure to deactivate you old copy also.

  • Dimensions in inches do not match in PS CS5 and Bridge CS5

Comparing the dimensions in inches between Mac Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 show errors in Bridge's calculations.
Example: PS shows in image size 30 x 16.891 inches. Bridge shows in Essentials that the file is 30.1 x 17.
Is there a way to resolve the difference?
Seems that the dimensions of the file would be exact in the Metadata Panel of Bridge, but it shows the same dimensions of the Essentials data below the preview.

Well, I'm not necessarily suggesting it as a permanent solution, just a workable fix to get up and working again. Which is what I've always done - anything's better than those useless junk profiles that these manufacturers keep pushing down unsuspecting users' throats.
But it's true, some calibrators really are "silly devices" and in some cases you really are better off using sRGB. I've accumulated about 8 or 10 different calibrators over the years but if you ask me now I only trust two of them. Both especially and exclusively made for the displays they're used on.

  • Keeping PS CS5 and Bridge CS5 after installing CC versions?

I have downloaded and set up Photoshop CC and Bridge CC. Do I need to keep Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 on my computer? Will I lose valuable items or functions isf I deletete them?
    Thanks,

No you don't,but in the event you decide to unsubscribe or if there is a problem with CC,you will have something to fall back on. Unless you really need the space,it won't hurt to keep it around as backup.

  • I am buying CS6 update. Do I uninstall CS5 and Bridge 5 first?

I have CS5 and Bridge 5. (W7) Do I uninstall them prior to installing retail CS6 update?

Thanks, Curt Y. I am inclined to uninstall CS5 and Bridge first, in view of your comments. I am not clear if the CS6 version of Bridge is different to the CS5 version. If the same I will leave Bridge as is. My photos are all backed up several times in W Explorer so not worried about losing anything. I assume the Bridge cache will re- poulate. Last point - I use TWAIN with 32 bit CS5 as I like its flexibility when scanning with my Canon scanners (35 mm to A4 with different dpi) I believe there is a new TWAIN plug in for CS6 32 bit. The old one in CS5 caused CS5 to crash if one used the "File, Automate, Batch" command so I imported in 32 bit and did the batch work in 64 bit - slightly inconvenient but WIA is not an answer and TWAIN is so nuch more convenient. If anyone could comment on this I would be grateful.

  • Different Menus in Bridge CS5 and Bridge CS 5.1

For some reason the Tools menu has options in the CS5 that are not available in CS5.1 of bridge. Why is that? I'm also missing startup scripts that are discussed in the help files? How can I get the menu commands that are in CS5 into CS5.1?
I have attached screen shots of my issues. Bridge CS5 versus Bridge CS5.1
Any help would greatly be appreciated!

    Dear Omke,
Thanks for the advice but as I said before nothing seem to work :
first: I'm affraid there is no such thing as photoshop CS 5.5 :
"Photoshop users, rest easy—-there are no enhancements or new features in this update for Photoshop whatsoever, so Photoshop will remain at CS5, though there is a free patch so it will be able to connect to mobile apps that may be released in the future but just so ya know—-it is NOT a 5.5-level upgrade like the other CS5 products are getting." quote from the Adobe.com site.
    I'm running Photoshop CS5 12.4.0 x 64 : as far as I know the latest photoshop version.
There is always just one version of bridge or photoshop open.
Bridge CS 5.1 came with InDesign 5.5. And InDesign 5.5 only seems to work with Bridge CS 5.1.
I already tried to copy the start up scripts for Bridge via computer (root level, not user account) / library/ application support/ Adobe /Bridge CS5/Startup Scripts  but there seems to be nothing in that file so I revealed the hidden files on my Mac but nothing showed up....
Now I notice that you suggest another path : computer (root level, not user account) / library/ application support/ Adobe /Start up Scripts CSxx.
But I don't see any Start up Script file in that location.
    So I'm stuck.
I need to switch from Bridge CS5 when working with Photoshop CS 5 to Bridge CS5.1 when working with InDesign CS5.5.
That is not what I paid 749,-€ for !!!

  • Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5

I recently purchased a new PC and transferred Photoshop CS5 from my old PC to the new PC via PCmover Professional and a Laplink USB cable attached to both PC's. The transfer appeared to work without a hitch until I tried to open Bridge CS5 from within Photoshop CS5 without success. I then opened Bridge separately  which worked fine but I cannot open any of my photos in Bridge to edit them. What can I do to fix this problem?

  • Color problems in photoshop cs5 and bridge

Recently, whenever I open images in photoshop or view them in Bridge, they look desaturated. In Bridge, they load normal at first but after a couple of seconds, they become desaturated and I can't figure out what the problem is. I have all of the same color management settings as before, the only difference on my computer since the colors stopped working was that my computer installed windows updates. The images look fine when viewing them in the Windows viewer, and in other programs like ACDSee, etc. It only looks like this in Adobe programs. I checked in Bridge under Creative Suite color settings, and it is under North America General Purpose 2. In Photoshop, I checked color settings, and all of them are marked as convert to working rgb, cmyk, etc. Any suggestions?

The monitor color profile tells Photoshop and the other color managed programs how your monitor displays colors. Color profile files are installed by putting them in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. Then to assign or confirm a color profile for your monitor, you use the Color Management control panel. Under the Devices tab  when 'Use my settings for this device" is checked, the color profile currently in used is the one which name ends with (default). For example 'Dell U2410 color Profile, D650 (default)'.
You can download the color profile for you monitor from here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R279694&formatcnt=0&libi d=0&fileid=413637
    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R279694&formatcnt=0&libi d=0&fileid=413637
it downloads a .exe file which is simply a decompressor like .zip files. Run it, and in the folder you will find a file with the name DELL-U2410.icm - his is your monitor color profile from Dell. However most likely Windows has already installed it for you.
Now, given  your situation, you may have these eventual problems.
    First problem.
Your monitor is a wide gamut monitor 102% of NTSC and Windows defaults at sRGB which is about 70% fo NTSC. NTSC is a color space representing the visible spectrum and is used in monitor specs for measuring the gamut.
Assuming that for some time you didn't use a color profile which more closely represents your monitor, Photoshop was displaying images on your wide gamut monitor using the default sRGB color profile which represent standard gamut sRGB monitors and this is very different from yours. Said in other words you were seeing one thing on your monitor while Photoshop was assuming it is another thing. This becomes a problem when you convert from one color space to another and display or reproduce the image on other devices, and in your case when monitor profile is changed to a very different one. To fix this you have to assign your correct monitor profile to the images that were created with the wrong profile and then convert to a common color space like sRGB, AdobeRGB, etc. Assign and Convert to profiles are in the Edit menu.
    Second problem.
The color profile from Dell may not be representing correctly how your monitor displays colors. Dell creates a profile that is not measured to your particular unit but for what they assume is an average representation of the monitor's model. Using it, you depend entirely on luck. I have u2711 and I was very unlucky. If you are curious you can study my case which may be also very educational for you and will be able to see clearly the difference between the colors of my monitor and those the Dell color profile represents. Follow the same instructions above for downloading the color profile for your monitor but download the one for u2711 from here
    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R247058&formatcnt=1&libi d=0&fileid=365277
then go to that web site from your link http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm and download my color profile that I'm sharing there. It is 'Dell U2711 Spyder 3 + Color Eyes DP   User' once you have the color profiles files on you computer, go to this site http://www.iccview.de/content/view/3/7/lang,en/  , upload my monitor profile and the one from Dell and compare. That web site will give a 3D plot of two color spaces in a 3D viewer that you can navigate to see it from all sides (using the Ctrl, Shift navigates faster). The difference that you see made it impossible to create even simple images for the web using Photoshop. I convert from AdobeRGB to sRGB and when Photshop assumes that my monitor displays colors the way they are described in the Dell's profile, all detail in the shadows is eliminated and my images look like crap. I even got better results from creating a profile using this free software http://www.calibrize.com/ it uses the so call eyeometer relying on your eyes for feedback and although the colors were noticeably off, at least the shadow detail was preserved.
    Hope that helps

  • Can I upgrade my Photoshop CS to CS5 and adobe bridge?

I have an old photoshop cs version and want to upgrade to cs5 and bridge, how do I do this?

You are long beyond any upgrade eligibility. The last time a CS licenses was good for anything was when CS3 came out. Your only option would be to buy a completely new license of CS6 or join Creative Cloud, since Adobe only sells current versions.

  • How to Transfer Colletions from Bridge CS5 to Bridge CS6?

How to Transfer collections from Bridge in CS5 to CS6?  I tried to copy my collections to the new Bridge but for some reason I do not see an option.  I tried putting on Keywords on my collections so that I can pull them up again but for some reason it won't write keywords anymore?  What is the best approach to transfer collections.  Thanks.  KC

What is the best approach to transfer collections.  Thanks.  KC
On a Mac both the keyword file and collections are stored in the user library (by default hidden in OSX lion) in the user account.
    The path on Mac:
user / library / Application Support / Adobe. Inhere you should see both Bridge CS5 and bridge CS6 if you have upgraded while the older system is still on your system.
In Bridge CS5 you see several folders and files. The keyword file that has all your in CS5 created keywords is called 'Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml' and the folder called Collections should have all your saved collections in it.
You can copy the keyword file to the same location in CS6 and also the content of the collections folder can be copied to the CS6 folder.
After restarting Bridge CS6 they should reflect the correct collections and keywords.
Don't know the path on Windows but it might be similar.

  • How can I download and install PCS5 (i have serial nu) when MacBookPro only shows Bridge CS5 and defaults to CS4?

I may have inadbertenly deleted CS5 Photoshop in error or it never installed. I had a time when HD was 99 percent full so I started deleting CS3,4 etc Photoshop, Bridege. I remember downloading for this laptop the CS5 for Mac , Bridge, Raw, DNg all that but it was over a year ago.
Download file shows unable to install CS5 Photoshop not all there (paraphrase). I cannot seem to find support at Adobe web site where downloads are available as long as they have your information. My information is all there.
I don't understand the new Download Manager but i downloaded it and it seems to deal with creative suite and mobile apps.
Do I have a conflict with my outdated unsupported Creative suite from pre intel Adobe I think CS7?   I was on phone for long time. the lady couldn't speak good english . She put me on hold after asking twice (two holds) if she could transfer me to tech support. then bumper phone is dead, i.e. i got cut offf. So am on phone again.
Am almost 70 and do not want to buy a subscription for photoshop to edit when i can live with CS5 and i would like to upgrade LR to match CS5. Everything works on my IMAC since I paid for CS5. It is this laptop I having trouble getting CS5 Photoshop installed.  Do I have to agree to the free Creative Suite trial?  I don't want to shoot myself in foot, i.e. ruin chance to just keep using what I own.  I understand they want us all to pay a monthly subscription for all the applications we paid good money for to keep upgrading. Nice to be able to change rules after ownership.  I wish Adobe hadn't been bought up my sd;fans as it has gone downhill from their logos to their ruining apps like Word did with adding a zillion icons when we all know how to use shortcuts to choose Levels.  I hate the new format it is more confusing. I spent a lot of money learning and loving Photoshop.
Please help . What do I do?

    Hi,
I hate to say so, but I'm not far behind you in years. So anyway I'll try and help you out as a user and forum volunteer.
So let's see if I can properly answer your questions.
First off, never delete Adobe products on a Mac. You use the uninstaller found in the program folder. Photoshop CS5 for example,
Use the CS Cleaner to get at those bits the uninstaller missed.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Here the direct download link from Adobe for CS5 Installers.  Mac included.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
If you do not have your serial number at the ready, go here to this link,
    https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html
Sign in with the adobe ID and password you registered your products under.
Under "My Products" You will see what you purchased and a triangle next to it.
Click on that triangle to see your serial numbers.
If it is an upgrade, get the serial number from the previous version while you are there.
That should be enough for you to go on. Any further questions, I'll give it a try.
Don't worry about Creative Cloud. Adobe might advertise it, but you decide if you need it.

I have Photoshop CS5, and use windows XP. I cannot open bridge from photoshop, which I have done for years.  When I am in Photoshop, when it opens, I always click on the bridge icon at the bottom of the screen and it puts me into bridge. This is not happening, the small wheel at the bottom of the screen just keeps spinning. Its like its stuck or caught in a loop. I can't get into bridge. I tried shutting down and starting up again but  the problem remains. Looking for help.  Dan

Thanks for your response, I was able to open bridge from File-Browse in Bridge.  This worked, but was not able to go back to the way I always opened Bridge.  At least I could get to Bridge and go into Camera Raw. I never tried to open Bridge from the Start menu.  The odd thing about this is, it has happened before, and to get it "unstuck" and working again, I would shut down and restart again in a few minutes, and things would go back to normal.  This time it did not go back to normal after several attempts.  I shut down for about 3-4 hours, restarted, and it seems to be back to normal again. I am not sure if it's a problem that is getting worse each time it happens.       And yes I am using Mini Bridge in photoshop CS5.  Thank you for your help.  Dan

  • CS5 & CS6 (Photoshop and Bridge) file association fix ?

My Win7 SP1 system is now runnging smoothly with Bridge CS5 properly invoking Photoshop PS5 and Bridge CS6 invoking Photoshop PS6.  Simply changing the File type associations in Bridge CS5 did not seem to work.  This was "solved" at 3AM last night while sipping a glass of Scotch - therefore it would be interesting if others would confirm my sleepy discovery:
    1. CS6 assigns all standard graphics files to be associated with CS6 and thus causes Bridge CS5 to invoke Photoshop PS6.  The objective is to have Bridge CS5 invoke PS5 at least for chosen file types.  Ensure neither CS5 nor CS6 is invoked.
    2. In the Win7 Start Menu search box, type "file association".
    3. Select the "Change the file type associated with a file extension".  This starts a window titled "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program".
    4. All of the graphic files are assocated with CS6.   For those files you want to associate with Photoshop PS 5, click on the choses file extension (e.g. .cr2, .nef, .psd, etc) and click on the "Change Program" to associate the extension to Adobe Photoshop CS5.  (note.  this step seems to be a necessary operation since, when I simply modified the Bridge 5 file type associations, Bridge 5 did not honour the change).
    5. Start Bridge CS5. Choose "Edit -> Preferences -> File Type Associations".
    6. For each file type you wish opened in CS5, change the association from CS6: choose the "Browse" option and locate the CS5 version of Photoshop.exe".  This is probably in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)/Photoshop.exe.  I happen to choose .cr2, nef, and .psd.  Click on OK to complete the association.
At this point, you can invoke Bridge 5 and it will properly invoke PS 5.  If you invoke Bridge 6, it will invoke PS6.  If you use file manager to invoke one of your selected file extension types, it will start Bridge PS 5. Other graphic files will start PS 6.
If you wish, you can go back and reassociate the chosen types to CS 6 - but your Bridge 5 will still invoke PS5 for your chosen extensions since the Bridge-assigned file associations takes priority over the windows default programme.

Great summary!  I will amend the association FAQ

  • Problem with Bridge CS5 and Tools Photoshop Batch

When I select several images in Bridge CS5 and go to Tool>Photoshop>Batch and try an run an Action, I receive an error message asking for the Install disk. Bridge at that point freezes until I put in the install disk and then it runs the batch action fine.
This is very annoying as I always have to have the disk in my DVD Drive.
    Any points would be welcomed.
