CS5 and Cineform Converted Files

I have been having trouble trying to Import files into a new CS5 Project Panel.  The files in question are my original digitized (from Mini-DV) .mp4 video tapes.  The problem is that when I choose to Import and select the original digitized file, the progress bar at the lower right corner of the Premier Pro screen flashes by quickly to completion before disappearing, giving the impression that the file has imported.  However, the file (which shows up in the Project Panel) is not there at all.  There is just an alias of the imported file remaining.  There is also no progress bar as the file is indexed (I'm sorry, I forget the technical term) which led me to believe there was a problem.
I know the person who originally digitized these tapes used Cineform conversion.  I believe the reason at the time was to better work with After Effects?  I really can't say, however.
So my question is this:  Could the problem of not being able to Import these .mp4 files (a RAID drive inside my computer) into the Project Panel be because of the Cineform conversion done at the time?  If not, are there any other suggestions as to why these files wouldn't Import?  Everything I've found tells me that PP CS5 should be able to Import and edit .mp4 file types without any issues.
I would appreciate any advice on this as I am left with no alternative but to rent a Sony deck and redigitize all of my tapes in order to solve what I hope is the problem.  Naturally, this deck rental will be quite expensive and I don't want to spend that money if in fact, there is another reason for the .mp4 file rejection and I might still be able to use those original digitized files.
Thanks much.
Tom

>files in question are my original digitized (from Mini-DV)
The usual process with Mini-DV tape cameras is to connect via Firewire and then you simply transfer the ALREADY DIGITIAL data from tape to computer (Firewire is nothing but a glorified serial port for file transfers)
In any event, you now need to find out what is really inside the files you have that will not import

  • Programatically convert CS5 and CS6 illustrator files to lower versions

Is there a way to programatically convert CS5 and CS6 illustrator files to lower versions (CS4, CS3 etc) programatically. Are there any third party tools to do it or does Scripting let you do that.

The illustrator save options has a property for dealing with backward compatibility… As far as I know you can only do this using Illustrator…

  • Premiere and Media Encoder CC with Cineform(converted files have static for audio)

    Hi there,
using Media Encoder CC to convert 7D and 5DMKIII video files to Cineform .avi and all I'm getting at the other end for audio is loud static.  Video is fine but audio is corrupt.  Anyone run into this with CC?  I didn't have this problem before CC.

Do you have the same problem with other AVI codecs?  What about non-AVI options?

  • Export pdf    how to edit and save converted files

I finally was able to convert to docx format, but see no way to use the converted file.  How can I edit and save in jpeg format?

    Hi Chuck,
Please tell me what the problem is with the converted file. Are you unable to edit it, or did it not convert as you expected?
Can you tell me how the PDF was created? (Different applications write PDF files differently, and some aren't as good as others--that can affect conversion).

  • I am trying to convert a file from pdf. I can't see it after I hit convert to word and view converted files. How do I know if I have a subscription? Adobe is on my mac dashboard.

How do I tell if I have already paid for a membership? When I try to convert a pdf file to word, it looks like it is processing the task, but then I can't find the converted file when it says view converted file. Huh? Adobe is on my mac dashboard, I have had an account but can't see the results . . . thanks.

    Hi subscription question,
I've checked your account; it looks like you tried to place two separate orders this morning, but it doesn't appear that either went through. However, it does sound as though you've been able to convert a file successfully. What happens when you log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files? Do you see your converted file there? All converted files are automatically stored in your online account, even when you convert from within Reader.

  • Protocol for re- installing Dreamweaver CS5 and reconnecting to files

My web site was working fine till I had malware on my computer and had to clean and re install all programs. I re installed CS3 and then my upgrade to CS5. I went to set up site to reconnect files and now cannot connect to FTP or up load photos for this month. I posed this question 2 days ago and no response and no help. Do I need to take it to Spry Framework where I can get a response?
Web site is www.williamshomesteadranch.com  There are 4 pages that are ok and I had to use Filezilla to update them. The other pages will not connect any way to FTP.
    I would really appreciate help!
    Sue

I do have it copied onto an external hard drive and the original is still there. After talking with Adobe today and finding out their tools system is down till Monday, I plan to un install and reinstall and redefine with the original files. They still should have everythin the same. I have never had to re do this in 4 years and did not remember what was supposed to be there. Is there a protocol for reinstalling since I have to do the CS3 first and then the CS5 upgrade?

  • How does one add a photo gallery to my web site in Dreamweaver CS5 and have the link recognized as a destination file?

How does on add a photo gallery to a web site in Dreamweaver CS5 and have the file folder which contains the photos, recognized as the "go to location" for the link up?

Ok.  So Photos1.htm is the main gallery page.
And it looks like you have sub-folders with images in them like these from 2011 and 2010

  • ACR Delete bug? Converted files deleted with originals!

Open ACR with a set of raw files.
Convert and saw in the same location.
Mark some/all of the originals for deletion.
    Click Done.
Both the originals and the converted files are deleted. And contrary to the delete function mouse over description, they are not moved to the trash but deleted completely!
    This is not nice behavior.

    Hi Thomas,
I just did an experiment. I copied some raw files to a new directory on an external hard drive.
    Opened them in ACR.
    Converted/saved.
Waited for the save queue to complete.
Confirmed the jpgs were created in explorer.
Marked the still selected RAW files for deletion.
    Clicked done.
About half of the JPGs are deleted, this time to the recycle bin.
I tried with different number of files, and couldn't determine the pattern of which were deleted.
If after converting I exit ACR. Then reopen and select the RAWs for deletion, the JPGs are not touched.
So, more data, but not much more sense. ACR is deleting just-converted JPG's, but not all of them, when it deletes the RAWs. If you work from a CF card, either ACR or XP is deleting not moving to the recycle bin.

  • I have Photoshop CS5 and a Nikon D 810 camera.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 8.8 & DNG converter.  I can neither open the raw files (.nef), nor process them with the DNG converter. What is going wrong?

I have Photoshop CS5 and a Nikon D 810 camera.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 8.8 & DNG converter.  I can neither open the raw files (.nef), nor process them with the DNG converter. What is going wrong?  Thanks!

This is the last paragraph from my very first response to you, post #1 in this thread:
…Additionally, you need to install the DNG Converter, not just "download" it, and you need to launch it and run it on each folder of NEFs you wish to convert to raw DNGs.  [emphasis added]

  • Hi I have CS5 and a canon 600D. Photoshop won't convert the files

Hi I have CS5 and a canon 600D. When I shoot in RAW photoshop won't read my files unless I convert them through DNG converter. This is time consuming and takes up a lot of space and I was wondering if there is a shortcut to converting the files. Also I have just become a full time student studying photography. I would like to purchase a student package so that i can use CC which is the same programme a at university. Which is the best and cheapest way to do this? I know that we are being offered a package in November, but I need to upgrade sooner really.

    Hi Frankiestone,
I would advice you to purchase the Photography plan which consists of both Lightroom and Photoshop.
Please refer to below link for pricing
    https://creative.adobe.com/plans
When you have the latest version of the products you will have access to camera raw version 8.6 and you would be easily able to import the RAW files from Cannon 600D with converting them.
    Thanks

  • Hi there, I need to be able to read raw files from an Olympus Stylus 1 via CS5 and Lightroom 4.  I have downloaded Raw file plug-in v 6.7.1 but still can't read the files.

Hi there, I need to be able to read raw files from an Olympus Stylus 1 via CS5 and Lightroom 4.  I have downloaded Raw file plug-in v 6.7.1 but still can't read the files?

    Read this table http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The Olympus Stylus 1 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and CC.
It is not compatible with CS5 or older and never will be.
If you do not want to upgrade to CS6 or CC then you can dwonload the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Stylus 1 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • Can Indesign CS5 convert files for use on Kindle?

    Hello,
Have any of you converted books for use on Kindle, and if so, how did you do it, and did it go smoothly? Please explain in "dummies" terms, as I find this topic to be very confusing.
If I convert files to ePub format in Ind. CS5, is this all I need to do to convert it to a format that can be used on a Kindle reader? Would this work for graphics as well as text?
Internet searches about this gave info for an older version, CS4, and seemed to require using supplemental software to successfully convert to Kindle format.
    Thanks for any advice.
    L

Yes, going to EPUB and then Kindle seems to be the best route.
    A few suggestions.
    1.       Upgrade to CS6. EPUB capabilities have been dramatically improved.
    2.       Buy some good books EPUB. I suggest these two Liz Castro’s books for a start: http://amzn.to/LI9Q5b and  http://amzn.to/LIa38o
    3.       Visit Liz’s blog: http://www.pigsgourdsandwikis.com/
    4.       Check out Ann Marie Concepcion’s excellent Lynda.com titles. This link will get you a one week trial: http://bit.ly/fcGpiI
Finally, you need to get at least a beginner’s grasp of HTML and CSS. Without that, quite frankly, you’re screwed.

  • Camera Raw and DNG Converter for PSE10 and PS CS5.5

I recently bought a Nikon D5200.  I have Photoshop CS5.5 at home and PS Elements 10 at work.  I had to download a DNG coverter in order to open my RAW files (NEF).  I have 2 questions: 1) Which are the latest updates that will work with each of these programs (the listings on the Adobe Download pages are confusing) and 2) Do any of these updates allow a new NEF file to be opened directly without the extra step of DNG conversion?  Bit of a pain.

Latest DNG converter can be downloaded from following link:
