CS5 Animation Presets MIA?

In CS5 I don't see the animation presets in the Effects Control Panel. Have they moved elsewhere?
Its convenient to see the presets I've created for several effects here rather than searching the Effects and Presets Panel for them.

from the "What's new" section of After Effects CS5 Help:
"The Show Animation Presets option is now off by default in the panel menu of the Effect Controls panel."
If you're curious about a change between After Effects CS4 and After Effects CS5, I recommend checking that page first. Every change worth noting is there.

  • Can't preview animation presets via AF CS5 in Preview window in Bridge CS5

None of the animated Presets in After Effects Support Files will play in the Bridge previewer. Other media show up fine. I'm running Windows 7 64bit, X4 955 processor, 8 gigs RAM. All other CS5 programs work flawlessly. The only possible solution I found from Adobe for Bridge was the following which did not work: Select this option if slide shows or images in the Preview panel, Full Screen Preview, or Review mode don’t display correctly. Using software rendering for previews displays previews correctly, but the display speed may become slow and there may be other limitations. 1.In Advanced preferences, select Use Software Rendering. 2.Restart Adobe Bridge Any other options?

This is a graphics card/driver issue.  Make sure you have the latest updates.
Also, I beilve the that animition effects rely on Quicktime, so make sure you have that installed as well.

  • Animation preset crashing cs5.52

It seems that every time I use an ADOBE PREMIERE PRO animation preset, it's impossible to reopen the saved file once the program it has been closed.
Eventually the program itself crashes and asks to be relaunched.
    Any known issues?

  • GS-06: Animating with animation presets | Learn After Effects CS5 & CS5.5 | Adobe TV

Animate layers quickly and easily by using animation presets. Drag and drop animation presets onto layers in the Timeline panel and combine them for a unique result.

Hi. So I'm following along, and it's been very helpful for a newbie! Your methods are thorough and I'm learning quickly. For some reason though, when I add the "rotate over time" preset, it says the transform effect is missing. Additionally, when I open the project, it says the "glow" effect is missing also. Any ideas?

  • Missing Animation Presets in After Effects 2014 CC

I upgraded from CS6 CC to 2014 CC and cannot now find the Animation Presets anywhere on my system. I deleted CS6 CC because of space considerations. They were in it. Can't find them anywhere on my system. Standard install. WIndows 7 Pro, 6 GB i7 blah blah blah! Was told by Tech Support that I couldn't BROWSE them because I don't have Bridge CC. I do have CS5.5 Premium Bridge, but can't reach it from 2014 CC. Even using it outside of 2014 CC I can't find Animation Presets. I can't find the folder they're supposed to be in, find everything else.
    Help!

    Hello Rick Gerard,
Thank you for the prompt and apparently correct answer. However, this did not solve my problem. Perhaps I was not totally clear in my original post.  To that end, before I posted I went to the panel for Effects and Presets inside AE 2014 CC. That was what lead me to start trying to Browse Animation Presents and finding out that Adobe Bridge 2014 CC was not installed, etc. Okay, I can live without that.
The Animation Presets DO NOT SHOW UP in the Effects and Presets panel as you have displayed in the graphic. In fact, searching for Animation in that panel's search box produces no result. Looking at a list of Animation Presets from Adobe's site and searching for several of them produces nothing. The Animation Presets cannot be found. They are not in any folder inside  or outside the install. Even searching my entire system for *.ffx (I believe that is correct) turns up nothing.
Something may have gone awry when I deleted (actually uninstalled) CS6 using Windows' own uninstall function. I only did that because my then hard drive was crammed to the max and functionality had degraded. I replaced that drive and now I'm a happy camper again except for not finding the Animation Presets.
IF I deleted/uninstalled them inadvertently, what are my options for getting them back? Deactivate and reinstall 2014 CC? What about reinstall/reactivate(?) CS6? Thanks once again and also in advance.

  • After Effects won't import any animation presets from Bridge.

I just installed Creative Cloud.  It seems to be working fine, except that when I try to apply Animation Presets into After Effects through Bridge, it gives me an error message saying "Can't import file xxx.fxx: unsupported filtype or extension"
I'm not trying to import a "file" or anything.... simply trying to apply an animation preset to a video clip on an AE timeline.  Never had any issues doing this with CS5.  Anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks

    See this thread:

  • AE Animation Presets/Templates previews not showing in Bridge

I am running CS5.5 on a Mac (10.6.8) and when I want to preview a text animation preset or project template, Bridge opens and I can click through the various presets/templates, but when they play, there is no preview...only a playhead that moves and the file name:
    For example:
I have the .ffx and .aet files on my hard drive where the installer put them.  Any thoughts as to why the previews don't show up in Bridge?
I am new to Bridge and thus far only use it for this purpose...
    Thanks in advance.

Otherwise then selecting the file and with right mouse click select purge cache for selection from the pop up menu I have no clue.
You might want to ask this question in the dedicated Adobe After Effects Forum, they might have a better insight for the ffx extension files:

  • Why are animation presets not showing in pop-up list for fractal noise?

In a standard install of AE CS4, the animation presets pop-up list showed a bunch of presets for fractal noise (see attached image).
In a standard install of AE CS5.5, the animation presets pop-up list showed a bunch of presets for fractal noise (see attached image).
In a standard install of AE CS6 (on the Mac), the pop-up list is empty. (Yes, I enabled the "Show presets"), despite the fact that, eg, "Curtain.ffx" is in the equivalent Presets>Backgrounds folder.
Is there another switch to turn on? I'm using Mac OSX 10.7.5.

  • Animation preset--one letter at a time

I am looking for a text animation preset that shows one letter at a time. I have tried several of the presets and applied a mask, but I am assuming there is an automated way to do this, either with a preset or an expression of some kind.
    Lee

"Shows" can be done a thousand different ways but let's just say you're scaling the letter up from 0% to 100%.
What you want to do is spend about two hours reading about and then playing with text animators. You will simply apply your animation choices to a letter and use the Selector to move a set of frames along your text object. The frames will show you which letters are getting your animation settings. You will keyframe the selector position so it moves along your text object.
The sections in the manual only hint at the levels of complexity and variety.. you will also want to use the online help system for the more explicit information.
Warning: The whole process is quite confusing and frustrating for your first many efforts. But eventually you will see how cool the whole text animation systems are.

  • Text Animation Presets do not load.

Text animation presets do not load in After Effects CC (or Adobe Bridge when browsing presets). They don't show up in Effects & Presets panel. I believe they used to show up but no longer. They are in the presets folder so I'm not sure why they won't load in either program.
    Any help appreciated.
    James

They show up for me and everybody I know except you. Without knowing something about your system, about whether this is new behavior, and without knowing what if anything has changed on your system I have no idea how to help you.

  • Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6?

so I upgrade from CS6 to CC and did not install Bridge CC. Then while in After Effects CC I try to view the text animation presets, but window informs me I do not have Bridge CC installed. I then download and install Bridge CC and view the animation presets, but seem all the same as Bridge CS6 has.
My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Is there another procedure to acquire more? Did I click past something on my first launch of Bridge CC?

My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Best try this in the After Effect forum, to my knowledge not many AE users are here at a regular base. Besides that, every suite version has its dedicated applications to work together in that suite, CC is no exception to that so for best practice use Bridge CC.

  • Problems using Animation Presets from Bridge

    Dear all,
Using the CC range, and recently had a new problem using the animation presets from Adobe Bridge. I'm in After Effects as normal, and then go to the Animations drop down, click browse recent presets to open up Bridge, and then as normal use Bridge to select the preset I want. Double click it whilst highlighting my selected track in AE, and then AE reports this:
And the same error codes no matter what effect/animation I choose, whether its to an image, video or text.
If I just go, in AE, to my Recent Animation Presets, and choose one from there it loads up absolutely fine. But this is massively annoying.  Any ideas? This problem appeared out of nowhere.

This is fixed in the After Effects 2014.2 (13.2) update, which is now available.

  • How do I fix my animation presets for text that won't load? It seems to get locked in loop and I am forced close Adobe Bridge.

How do I fix my animation presets for text that won't load? It seems to get locked in a loop when I click on one and I am forced to "fore close" Adobe bridge which After Effects uses to locate the presets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is your exact workflow? The proper procedure is to select your text layer in AE, find the text preset you want to use, then drag or double click that preset to apply it to your project.
It also helps  if we know your version of AE and OS down to the decimal point. You didn't give us much to go on.

  • Applying Animation Presets from Adobe Bridge?

I haven't used this feature in a long time, so I don't know if this is a configuration problem on my PC or something I am doing wrong. In the flyout menu of the Effects and Presets panel, selecting ""Browse Presets" brings up Adobe Bridge. If I double click on a preset, say the apparition background, AE shows:
After Effects error: Can't import file "Apparition.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension. (0::1)
However, if I try the same thing using the Animation menu->Apply Animation Preset->Open->....Apparition.ffx, it works fine.
    AE Version: 13.1.1.3
    Bridge Version: 6.1.0.116 x64
    Windows 8.1

There's an issue with the installers for that version. The wrong script is involved. I don't have the link to the page explaining it, but if you do a search through these forums for other people with the issue, I'm sure you can find it.
Until it gets fixed in an update, don't use Bridge to apply animation presets - just use the effects and presets panel in AE or the menu option as you're already doing.
