CS5 Bridge and RAW

Bridge in my CS5 will not open Panasonic Lumix G5K camera RAW images. please direct me to necessary upgrades.

As per documentation this camera model make from Panasonic is not supported.

Updates for CS5 bridge and raw

Been using CS5 and have tried to add updates to bridge and/or raw and each time it says to close bridge, to proceed. I closed bridge and still un able to proceed to add updates. What an I missing? Thanks for any help, Rick

Check your Task Manager, Bridge may be running in the background.Go to your Task Manager, then to Processes and look for Bridge.
You may also have Bridge starting automatically when Windows starts so you may want to deactivate that.

CS5 Bridge and Elements

I happen to have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 Plus and Adobe CS5 installed on my desktop.Both programs work fine when using one or the other.My problem is if I have CS5 Bridge open and highlight a photo that I want to open (right click open or top file menu)the photo opens in Elements 8 Edit.I would think it should open Photoshop 5,but can't seem to find where to change it from.I keep Elements installed because its handleing the photo backups right now.Any suggestions?I'm missing something I'm sure.Thanks.

Go to Bridge edit/preferences/file type associations and change the defalult program for extenstion to CS5.
And if you have keywords in Elements they can be read in Bridge, you just have to find the option to write files to metadata.

Wits End! I'm running Adobe cs5 with Windows 7 - Bridge and Raw are Crazy slow!

Everything has been running beautifully, then it all went horribly wrong. Bridge comes up fine, then I right click on an image to open it in raw and the spinner starts and spins for 3-5 minutes. I finally get the image open in raw, make my adjustments and click to open in photoshop. Then I have to walk away. another 5-10 minutes. Crying won't help so I'm coming to you!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled cs5, I've defragged and disc cleaned, updated windows, downloaded the latest bridge update (but not sure how to tell if it's installed in the right place? does it do that automatically?), I have 852 gb of free space on my hard drive of a poss 916.
I've tried to think of what may have changed? Could an automatic windows 7 update have caused the problem? I recently added another external hard drive (Seagate GoFlex - I now have 2)
This is my busy season and I can't afford to have this down time - 2 days of trying to fix the problem.
Anyone have any solutions please?

I Have resolved it, but not really sure How I did it! lol
I did the upgrades. Removed and reloaded CS5, but don't use the 64 bit
version...I think that was what I somehow got onto before.
The latest update didn't Cause the issue for me because I hadn't downloaded
it yet.
I also, did a major defrag and disc cleanup.

CS5 Bridge and Permission Problems

Hello there;
I just started experiencing a problem with Adobe Bridge. I am (and have been) using CS5 with no problems at all until just recently. Adobe Bridge does not seem to delete image files or rename image files for some strange reason. I get a message that says... "The file cannot be renamed because you do not have sufficient permissions or it is in use"!!! I have never experienced this since I installed CS5. I know the file(s) is (are) NOT in use. I am not able to delete or rename. Not sure if any other Bridge functions will suffer through the same problem as well.
Anyone experienced this issue before? Any suggestions to resolve it? Many thanks.

When I view the thumbnail images in Bridge, there is NO padlock symbol at all. Since I shoot everything in RAW, Explorer and Windows do not display the image itself, but an icon representing the .CR2 file (I shoot Canon). I have also tried the right-click to check the Properties of the files, and there is NO check mark for "read only". I am still at a loss. I sincerely appreciate your help if you can think of anything else.

Cannon 6D requires CS6 with ACR 7.3. You either have to upgrade or convert to DNG files.

CS5 Bridge low on system resources

Everytime I open CS5 bridge and work on my camera raw files I get the foloowing error message: bridge low on system resources and needs to be closed. I never had this problem in CS4. I am running Windows XP Pro with 4gb of ram. I have talked to Adobe Tech support 3 times this week and have not been able to fix the problem. Is any one else having this problem?

I did install the update released by Adobe today (May 27) but unfortunately nothing has changed.
I was interested to read that you did not have these problems with CS4 (as I skipped that version and upgraded from CS3). So, it appears that this is a problem specific to CS5.
For now, my "workaround" is to abandon CS5 and go back to using CS3. NOT a great solution...or use of my money;but I have to get some work done!

Will CS5 Bridge transfer to Lightroom 3?

I'm currently using CS5 Bridge and was wondering if I used Lightroom 3 whether all of my information (star ratings, collections, etc.) would easily transfer. I understand Bridge is "on its way out" in the future and am concerned that my current organizational tools such as mentioned will be lost.

I haven't heard "Bridge is on it's way out"...but all your metadata (ratings, keywords, etc) should be retained as long as you're saving the metadata with your files and using sidecar files for raw files (if any). I'm not sure how Collections are handled between the two apps. Probably a better question for the Bridge forum:

CS6 Bridge always launches CS5 Bridge

After installing CS6 from Cloud upgrade, when ever I launch Bridge CS6, it always just launches the CS5.x version of Bridge.
I've tried both 32bit and 64bit with the same results. My other CS6 apps seem to be working fine.
This occurs no matter which Bridge CS6 icon I use (shortcuts and from the main directory.) Do I need to uninstall CS5 Bridge to get it to work?

No do not uninstall CS5.
You have Bridge CS5 running the the background. Open CS5 Bridge and go to edit/preferences/advanced and uncheck "open Bridge at logon".
Then open Task Manager and click Processes tab. Look for bridge.exe and close it.

CS6 Beta Modifies CS4 & CS5 Bridge File Associations (W7 Pro 64Bit SP1)

Symptoms:
After installing CS6 including bridge CS6 onto a W7 pro 64Bit Machine with SP1.
The File associations in the existing copies of CS4 and CS5 bridge are updated to make the CS6 Beta the default programme for opening the majority of file types from either CS4 or CS5 bridge.
When right clicking ona file from CS4/5 bridge only the option of opening in CS6 is presented
Expected Bahaviour:
I expected that CS6 would be the default programme launched from CS6 bridge but that CS4/CS5 would remain the default programmes launched from their own versions of bridge.
Setting CS6 as the default file association in previous versions of bridge makes no sense at the Beta stage, as it interupts a clean migration back to existing workflow.
I would also question the value in not preserving the existing file associations in prior versions of bridge in the final CS6 release, as there are cases when it might be desirable to go back to a previous version of CS, in which case opening that version of bridge and launching directly into the prior versions of CS is very desirable.
Is there anyway to quickly restore the previous associations in CS4/CS5 bridge and be sure that they are exactly the same as prior to the CS6 beta install ?

Sorry for the noise. I misunderstood your depth of knowlege and what you had tried. I also committed the sin of not testing the procedure all the way through because I did not want to change the association on my computer. I get the same behavior.

UserChoice seems to be added when I made the association choice. Note that it points into Applications with a non-version specific Photoshop.exe. Within HKLM\....\Applications there is only one Photoshop.exe -- no version -- and that entry points to CS6.
I believe that explains why the browsed to association is CS6. It does not explain why it would be set up that way. Probably has something to do with Windows special handling of certain file extensions. Beyond my depth and tells me I am not going to find a solution.

CS5 not responding after opening Bridge and Camera Raw

I have been using bridge, camera raw and cs5 since it was released. I have not any problems until this morning. I am able to open Bridge and Camera Raw, but when trying to open PS CS5, it does not respond?
Any suggestions?

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

My Photoshop, Bridge, and Camera Raw in CS5 will not update. The update downloads and then says there was an error.

Sounds like you somehow got the mac version.

Bridge CS5 is Corrupting Raw and JPG Files Right Before My Eyes

I am using Bridge CS5 on a Mac to work on Raw files from a Canon camera. The files all looked good in the cameras review, and looked good when downloaded to the computer then the files started to corrupt and become unusable one at a time as I watched. They became all white or lines of color. Not all of them corrupted yhough (about 225 of 1100 did though). I eventually worked the uncorrupted files and even turned them into JPGs and sent them out. The next day I pull up the pics in bridge to see if they are still bad. All of a sudden files I opened and worked on yesterday started to corrupt one after another. Both the JPG and Raw files are corrupt and unusable even though they worked yesterday. It only happens when in Bridge. What is going on? This is riduculous.

Thanks for responding. What happens is I highlight a large group of files then click on open with Bridge or in Bridge I go to the subdirectory with the files. All the files are in a filmstrip on the left side of the screen. All of a sudden the file that I am viewing becomes corrupt (that is it turns into multiple horizontal lines of colors. Then I can watch as it happens to one file after another. I would compare it to when you quickly view film strips that were just uploaded and the initial thumbnail is blurry and then slowly all the thumbnails get clear as they process. But here they appear to already be fine thumbnails but then turn into the files with horizontal lines or sometimes just 30% or so so of the pic is visible and the rest is white or gray. When I try to open it the file cannot be opened because it is corrupt. It happens to both the RAW and the JPG file (I shoot in Raw+JPG). The first day it happened to about 200 of the 1200 files. So I was able to process the 1000 good ones in Raw convertor and create JPGs with no trouble. The next day I open all the files in Bridge again to see if the bad ones are good now and files I had already opened and were perfectly fine in RAW converter start to corrupt one after another like the ones did the day before. So I doubt it is the card or hardware it only happens in Bridge. Bridge must have the capability to do something to the files. It isnt making XMF files so thats not it, it is actually corrupting the RAW and JPG files. Have you ever heard of that. But this happened to Windows and I use MAC.....but I do use a 7D like them. I still wonder if Bridge just doesnt work well with Canon 7Ds or something like that. The above thread never found a solution. Maybe someone from Adobe has heard of this from others and discovered a reason or solution. Until then I cant trust Adobe products at all....which really sucks after how much it cost me, but whole shoots lost is worse, I guess.

     After Installation the Version 64 Bit couldn't work because of this
sentence (Windows 7 has 64 Bit Version). The 32 Bit Version worked
without problems. The next day both versions didn't work because of
this Informatiom. Bridge and Camera raw workinjg perfect but photoshop
(CS 5) is blocked.
