CS5 Bridge "No Items to display"

Hi guys,
I've been using Photoshop for many years, including CS5, without Bridge issues.  My images are stored on a NAS drive, which is mapped to my Windows installation as drive Z and has always functioned flawlessly through the many iterations of Photoshop and Bridge.
Last week I had to rebuild my PC due to a failure which meant a clean reinstall of Photoshop CS5, which is when the problems started.
So this is a completely clean build (Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit) on a freshly formatted drive, which points to the mapped drive Z: for my images.
When I try to use smart collections or even simple FIND searches I always get the result:
"No Items to Display".
I've purged the cache and done a full rebuild; I've manually deleted the cache and rebuilt, and the smartlists have built indexes for all subdirectories etc, but no joy.
I even created local image folders on the main PC drive to see if it was NAS related but same negative results.
At this point my already thinning hair is being wrenched and torn while I look for a solution
Desperate for some help...
Anybody?
Cheers,
Mark

When it comes to network drives I come up short with answers.  But since it worked before it is probably one of 3 things.
Usually "no items to Display" means that you are looking for items in a directory that has not been indexed.  Indexing occurs when you visit the folder and the spinning arrow in lower left corner stops.  Try indexing one folder then doing a search in that directory to see if that is the problem.
Rather than indexing each folder individually you can click "include non-indexed files".  This will be slow as it will index everything.  To see if this is happening look at the screen and you should see messages "indexing xxx folder" as it moves through the list.
If indexing is not happening, or it is indexed and not finding anything it would probably be a permission issue.  See if you can write a keyword to a file, if not that is the problem.
If permission a problem try right clicking on Bridge icon and choosing "run as administrator".  If that works you will know what the problem is.

Not many here (including me) use Elements and even less can understand crash reports.
    Can you confirm that:
-The folder containing jpeg files are viewable in the finder and can be opened in PSCS3?
-You did give Bridge the time to let it cache its contents?
-You have installed Bridge to the application folder, in the user library cache folder there is a folder called Adobe, inhere there should be a folder called Bridge CS3 and this one contains a folder called cache?
I would suggest that you quit Bridge and move this folder manually to the trash. This will be replaced with a fresh folder after restarting Bridge.
Point Bridge to the folder and first let it cache its contents and then try again with the find option. Could you report back on this?

  • Jump drive items not displayed in bridge cc

error message when trying to open jump drive images in bridge cc: "item could not be displayed, may have been moved or renamed." this is a new pc.

Maybe there's a problem with the file system. What file system is it using, and what the the computers you are copying between?

  • Bridge CS4 search returns No items to display

A find search for "keyword contains" returns a partial list of files using a parent keyword, and returns "No items to display" for specific child keywords missing from the parent keyword "find".
I have deleted and reapplied the keywords in the missing files and reindexed all of my files afterwards.  The same files are still missing from a parent keyword search and from a specific child keyword search.
I upgraded from CS2, and had no similar problems under CS2.  Both CS4 and my OS, WinXP Pro, are updated to date.
    Any ideas?  Thank you.
(I mistakenly posted this to an old similar named problem under the Bridge Mac discussion group; there was no effective solution offered there.)

    Curt,
No difference at first, but, a new observation and resolution.  The suggested Keywords, Find..., search procedure continued to ignore/overlook all of the previously missing files.
Observation:  All of the missing files are contained in one subfolder named, Oregon.  Any Find continues to return no items from this subfolder.
Resolution:  I renamed folder Oregon to Oregonx, created a new folder named Oregon, and copied all files from the old folder, Oregonx, to the new folder, Oregon.
Find under Oregon = No items
Find under Oregonx = all files containing the keyword.
I tested this result by renaming the new folder, Oregon, to Oregon1.  Find under Oregon1 = all files containing the keyword.
Finally, I reran the global Edit, Find..., across all folders = all files containing the required keyword.
    Go figure!
Thank you for the suggestions and persistence.
    Joe

  • "No items to display" - keyword search

I am working in cs5 and when i do a find for keyworded files i get "no items to display." If i go looking to make sure that the image has a keyword, it does, but the find keyword function isnt working. I did this:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332992.html
with the exception of the last instruction... there doesnt appear to be a com.adobe.bridge[#].plist file for cs5, at least not where specified. Can anyone help?? I had this before in CS4, did the manual preference reset and it worked.

there doesnt appear to be a com.adobe.bridge[#].plist file for cs5, at least not where specified. Can anyone help??
When having installed the CS suite or part of it in the default application folder on root level Bridge also install in this place. Automatically the com.adobe.bridge4.plist (Bridge version 4 comes with CS5) will be installed in the preference folder in the user library (so not the system library on root level!).
If this is not the case with you there either is something gone wrong with your install procedure or your install disk for CS.
First restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences. This should bring back the plist file in the user library preference folder.
And also keep in mind Bridge needs time to index files (this is only once but each new file also needs indexing, in CS5 this is much faster then prior versions btw) before search will work properly.
And remember to point Bridge to the main folder containing al files, if you have pointed to a subfolder Bridge only search in this particular folder

  • View photo folders not files in CS5 Bridge

How do I get back to the view of my photo folders?  I can only see individual photo files, and not all of them now.  Don't know what I did to make this happen.  I have a 2009 iMac and CS5 Bridge (Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium).

How do I get back to the view of my photo folders?  I can only see individual
photo files, and not all of them now.
Go to the folder panel (if it is not in view go to menu window and select
folders panel) and inhere choose the main folder where your images are
    nested in subfolders.
If you select a main folder with only subfolders it shows you only folder
icons, if there are also images in that main folder itself it shows you both
    the files and folders.
Using the command 'show items from subfolders' (menu view) you get both
folder and all the files from that main folder.

  • Jpeg thumbnails too dark in CS5 bridge

All of a sudden my jpeg thumbnails appear very dark and muddy in CS5 bridge. Such images are of normal brightness when opened in Photoshop proper.
Equally puzzling is when a jpeg image is then "saved as" back to the same folder as a TIFF (for example) the jpeg looks dark but the TIFF version of the same file looks correct. RAW files still look correct.
This seems to be a recent problem as jpeg images I processed a few ago weeks ago still dislay normally in bridge.
I've tried purging the folder cache without effect. Thumbnail quality is set to "always high". I feel I may have accidentally altered a setting but cannot think wghat it might be. Please help.

Since my posting I have realised this problem is confined to images from the Nikon D800 camera ONLY. Jpegs from my other Nikon cameras display normally.
That does indeed not indicate to a cache problem alone. But you stated in your earlier post purging cache did solve the problem temporarily hence my idea about this solution.
I still think you should try to move the files to another new folder but you have provided us with very less detail about what computer, systemOS etc you are using and if you have the correct ACR version for support of your Nikon D800 which I believe is ACR 6.7 (in Photoshop use menu Photoshop / about Plug ins / Camera Raw to check which version you have.
Just to say I shoot RAW and batch convert to sRGB jpeg from ACR. It doesn't matter what size option I save to from ACR.
I don't follow this workflow, shooting Raw provides you with all details and data from your sensor but you need to go through them for fine tuning the settings. Shooting jpeg means you loose a lot of those details and let the camera software decide to fine tune for you (in a nutshell, it is a bit more complicated…)
Shooting Raw and without change settings and fine tune just convert these files to sRGB jpeg is in my opinion pointless. You better use the option to shoot Raw + jpeg and use the jpegs out of camera for this purpose.

  • CS5 Bridge thumbnail previews suddenly stopped working

My Bridge very suddenly stopped displaying thumbnail previews - it only displays the default file type icon.
I have spent a lot of time googling this and have tried the following:
    Clearing the cache
Updating Bridge and assorted Abode Products
    Resetting Bridge to factory settings
Nothing has made any difference. I need the thumbnail previews for Bridge to be useful to me. Any help is highly appreciated.
I'm running CS5 on OSX Mavericks (10.9.1). Thanks!

Every file type (DNG, JPG, CR2, etc) except for PSD, but PSD looks distorted. It's all images, old and new, including ones I could preview perfectly before whatever happened happened. Thanks for responding!
Edit: Okay, so I did more digging and for some reason it shows TIF files, but nothing else.
Also, I am trying to view our photo library over our network, none of these files are on my local HD.

  • CS5 Bridge thumbs and previews do not color match ACR or Photoshop

In newly installed CS5 Bridge (part of Suite), thumbnails and previews are not reflecting the color adjustments in ACR or of the image in Photoshop itself.  High Quality is still default as is writing cache to folders.  I don't see the old cache files in the folders either.  CS4 did not exhibit this issue for me.  Upon opening a folder, or after purging cache, thumbs are initially displayed with saturated color, but only for a second or 2 until they are redrawn.  Other applications that I have been working with for years and use the image previews are not displaying properly now that I have CS5.  What's going on here?  It appears that I am looking at only the imbedded previews!

    Narrowing it
down...I am working with a MacBookPro, using 2 monitors,
There have been more issues with two monitors but I can't recall them
    exactly at this moment.
A few things that come to my mind, first check the Camera Raw preferences
and double check if the option Apply Autotone Adjustment is NOT checked.
There have also been issues with Open GL and 2 monitors but that should
effect the images in PS and not Bridge I would believe. Also see what your
main monitor is in the OS monitor preferences and try what happens if you
    change that order.

  • Find returns "No items to display

I added keywords and ratings to all my files. But now when I go to edit/find and do a search I always get "No items to display." I check to search the folder and all subfolders. Using Bridge CS3.

Make sure you have the box checked that says 'include non-indexed folders'. It appears on my system that is necessary to get any results. The screen then says indexing ----- .

  • Items to display in list view web part not showing the items setup

Hi, I have the following issue. I have a list view web part, but the web part is showing more items that the ones setup in the: Number of items to display in list view web part for this view.
It is because that works when using datasheet view and not a normal view? Is there any technical documentation from Microsoft supporting this?

thank you for your answer. It is interesting that the mobile view with the items to show in the mobile view doesn't work in the webpart, but it works when you are using datasheet view, but if you uncheck to activate the mobile view, then, the webpart doesn't
show information, so, it works partially because one part works and not the other.

  • How do I get toolbar bookmark items to display in the bookmarks toolbar instead of in the Bookmarks menu | Bookmarks toobar submenu?

When I add bookmarks to the bookmarks toolbar, they don't appear on the bookmarks toolbar (duh...) but appear instead in the Bookmarks Toolbar submenu inside of the Bookmarks menu.
How do I get them to appear on the bookmarks toolbar itself?

You can check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible:
    *"View > Toolbars"
Open the Customize window to set which toolbar items to display:
    *View > Toolbars > Customize
*Firefox menu button > Options > Toolbar Layout
*Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

    Hi Experts,
I want to change the text of item's displaying in the folowing ALV.
    Go to ME23N->Click 'Messages'->Click 'Further Data' -> Click 'Displ.Originals'.
Here one small ALV grid is appearing.
Currently it is showing same name's under the 'Title' column of that ALV. My requirement is to change the text coming under the column 'Title' in that display.
Can any one throw some light in the issue.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Anversha

    Hi Anversha ,
i think you need to use Enhancement point for it.
    check the program DV70AF0A-->ARCHIV_ANZEIGE(Subtoutine).
i had similar kind of requirement ,while attaching the supporting documents to FI document , i need to update title field with File name , so i used EP and BADI to do so.

  • CS6 Bridge always launches CS5 Bridge

After installing CS6 from Cloud upgrade, when ever I launch Bridge CS6, it always just launches the CS5.x version of Bridge.
I've tried both 32bit and 64bit with the same results. My other CS6 apps seem to be working fine.
This occurs no matter which Bridge CS6 icon I use (shortcuts and from the main directory.) Do I need to uninstall CS5 Bridge to get it to work?

    No do not uninstall CS5.
You have Bridge CS5 running the the background.  Open CS5 Bridge and go to edit/preferences/advanced and uncheck "open Bridge at logon".
Then open Task Manager and click Processes tab.  Look for bridge.exe and close it.

  • CS6 Beta Modifies CS4 & CS5 Bridge File Associations (W7 Pro 64Bit SP1)

    Symptoms:
    After installing CS6 including bridge CS6 onto a W7 pro 64Bit Machine with SP1.
The File associations in the existing copies of CS4 and CS5 bridge are updated to make the CS6 Beta the default programme for opening the majority of file types from either CS4 or CS5 bridge.
When right clicking ona file from CS4/5 bridge only the option of opening in CS6 is presented
    Expected Bahaviour:
I expected that CS6 would be the default programme launched from CS6 bridge but that CS4/CS5 would remain the default programmes launched from their own versions of bridge.
Setting CS6 as the default file association in previous versions of bridge makes no sense at the Beta stage, as it interupts a clean migration back to existing workflow.
I would also question the value in not preserving the existing file associations in prior versions of bridge in the final CS6 release, as there are cases when it might be desirable to go back to a previous version of CS, in which case opening that version of bridge and launching directly into the prior versions of CS is very desirable.
Is there anyway to quickly restore the previous associations in CS4/CS5 bridge and be sure that they are exactly the same as prior to the CS6 beta install ?

Sorry for the noise. I misunderstood your depth of knowlege and what you had tried. I also committed the sin of not testing the procedure all the way through because I did not want to change the association on my computer. I get the same behavior.
    Guess for .jpg
    Registry shows for .jpg:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\UserCho ice  Progid = Applications\Photoshop.exe
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command  (Default) = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
UserChoice seems to be added when I made the association choice. Note that it points into Applications with a non-version specific Photoshop.exe. Within HKLM\....\Applications there is only one Photoshop.exe -- no version -- and that entry points to CS6.
I believe that explains why the browsed to association is CS6. It does not explain why it would be set up that way. Probably has something to do with Windows special handling of certain file extensions. Beyond my depth and tells me I am not going to find a solution.
