Now when I am in Bridge (which is on my Samsung - left monitor)   & open a file for raw   .... the whole raw format opens/jumps to my Mac Monitor (which is not calibrated)   & cannot be moved to the  Samsung which is on my left...

  • Updates for CS5 bridge and raw

Been using CS5 and have tried to add updates to bridge and/or raw and each time it says to close bridge, to proceed. I closed bridge and still un able to proceed to add updates. What an I missing? Thanks for any help, Rick

Check your Task Manager, Bridge may be running in the background.Go to your Task Manager, then to Processes and look for Bridge.
You may also have Bridge starting automatically when Windows starts so you may want to deactivate that.

I redownloaded my Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw will not accept my RAW files nor will the Adobe Bridge display the picture view of these files. A message displays saying it doesn't support this camera.  I have a Nikon 5100 DSLR Camera.  It always displayed them in the past.  How can I get it to display these photos in Bridge and open them in RAW?

  • Hex core efficiency in Bridge CS5 and Camera Raw 6.0

Conclusion: Batch processing of files in Bridge CS5/Camera Raw 6.0 is limited by an unknown factor which I currently believe to be software design and/or software implementation.  While performance on a dual core would be more or less CPU bound, and on a quad core would use the bulk of the available CPU power most of the time, on a hex core machine the CPU is woefully underutilized; i.e. I could be doing the same work in substantially less time.
Suggestion: At the very minimum, allow the option to have Bridge/Camera Raw process N (where we choose N, given that a dual socket motherboard will be able to have 24 cores in the very near future) files simultaneously, so we can tune our own systems for the disk IO vs CPU bottlenecks we each have.  At best, automatically keep the CPU(s) running all cores at or near peak all the time, or until you run out of disk IO bandwidth.
Observations taken with the Windows 7 Resource Monitor and the SirReal G15 keyboard applet
    Camera Raw Batch actions:
When I select a number of photographs (I typically select scores to hundreds), either fresh RAW files from a Canon 50D or existing DNG's converted with prior versions of Photoshop, and apply some change to all of them (for instance: changing from the 2003 Process with ACR 4.6 camera profile to the 2010 Process with the Camera Neutral camera profile, I see very tiny sections of disk IO (not exceeding 20MB/s on a high end SSD), no hard faults/s in memory, no real network IO, and CPU follows a very distinct pattern, with about .75 to 2 seconds at each of the following CPU levels, in sequence:
18 (one core plus a bit)
    70-88 (5ish cores)
18-23% (one core plus a bit)
    45-55% (about 3 cores)
    repeat
A very important feature for me, Bridge CS5 Preview Extractions on a new folder show 33-45MB/s of disk activity, and a solid, exact 25% (1.5 cores) of CPU with dips to 19% or so.  This very clearly indicates that the Preview Extraction feature isn't able to use most of the cores in my processor.
Build: a new build computer (Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H rev1.0, BIOS F6) with an AMD Thuban 1090T 3.2Ghz hex core (running 5% above clock, FSB change to 210Mhz from the 200Mhz default, Prime95 stable for days), with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and all Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop cache and files running on an OCZ Vertex Turbo SSD.  OS is Windows 7 64-bit.  OS level page file is completely disabled.

Is it possible you're overwhelming the main memory bandwidth by the fact that you are working on (multiple) large images?  Multi-core machines can only work on as much data as they can get from/to memory, and what you're doing is kind of flushing data right through the cache.  I'm less familiar with the AMD architecture, but doesn't the concept of 6 cores on one chip mean that they ALL share one main memory buss?  This could be a case where given the task, more cores is not better.
It may also very well be that the entirety of Photoshop, which is at its core a relatively old application (architecture-wise), is not programmed to use multi-threading as well as it might be.  Getting multi-threading to work right in an application is no picnic.  And don't forget, this software is crafted to build and work in two widely different environments (Mac and PC) and so may not be able to use all the fanciest features of any one of those two realms.

  • Why doesn't CS5 Bridge see my RAW photos from my Canon 7D?

I just got a new Canon 7D. I can't open Raw files in CS5 Bridge...it only sees jpgs.  Is there a setting I need to change?  I have updated CS5 to latest updates.

7D support was introduced with ACR 5.6, which was an update for CS4.
Have you tried opening a 7D raw with Photoshop directly (File > Open ...)?
Are you using a non-standard raw format (I dunno, I don't shoot Canon, but I believe there are alternative raw types)?
Can you confirm that ACR is correctly installed? Photoshop > Help > About Plugin... - there should be one copy of Camera Raw, currently version 6.4.
It should be physically located at:
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats and/or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats
    Mac:  /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS5/File Formats
    and nowhere else!

  • Raw images in cs5 bridge

I have an old Canon G5 that I recently used to shoot raw images. When I try to pull up raw images using bridge in CS5 I get a message saying that a file is missing; libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll however I can pull individual raw files up using CS5 "open" and they appear in raw as a normal raw file. I read various internet posts that indicate various ways to replace above missing file however not sure those fixes are applicable to CS5 bridge. Your thoughts would  be welcome. Thank you.

If you had given us sensible information, I could look it up for you if your efforts fail.
Right now, I don't even know if you are on a Mac or on a Windows box.

  • Cs5 bridge has option..open in raw converter...greyed out

i just purchased and installed cs5, love the updates i have seen yet.....but cs5 bridge has stopped opening raw files, it actually never did open the first one..the option to open in camera raw is greyed out...i can use photoshop to open raws, one at a time...tried updating to raw converter 5.7,. cs5 still works, bridge does not...any thoughts?
    Malcolm

    ACR 5.7 is for CS4.
For CS5 you need Camera Raw 6.1.
You have to have the ACR in the correct folder and only one file there.

  • How do I get CS5 Bridge/Photoshp to handle RAW files from my D800E?

How do I get CS5 Bridge/Photoshop to handle RAW files from my D~800E?

There are many who would say, based only on empiric data (boo) and not opinion (yay), that the most accurate raw conversions would be obtained using the Nikon software and not secondary processors like the Adobe converter. The DNG process makes irreversible changes to the raw data which may or may not matter but the DNG is not the same as the original raw file.
You can do the experiment yourself, for FREE, and compare different methods of raw conversion. You may be surprised at what you see. You have to be because different converters tune to different image characteristics. Don't be taken in about claims Adobe makes for its convertor without proving them to yourself. Adobe has made deliberate pre-set choices for its converter and they may not be the best for you. Or they may be, as we have all become so used to what Adobe chooses we think we chose it ourselves.
If I were able to afford, and had the energy to lug around a D800e, I might not want to compromise the image quality I just shelled out such massive bucks to obtain using the Adobe converter without proving that was the best option for me, but I don't do it for a living. Also, if you can shell out for a D800e and are enamored of the Adobe Converter realize it only costs $10/month for a CC subscription, possibly tax deductible, and you can still retain your older version of PS. The CC version of PS allows use of the ACR as a filter layer, if you are fond of the converter tools (which are much improved in the latest version).

  • File size variations in Cs5, Bridge, & Mac when opening D800e raw files

I am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size.  D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you for responding. I understand what you are saying. After more attempts at resizing nef files into tifs, and then restarting my computer, everything seems to be ok. However, when I make a four shot stitched pan with the D800e, I encounter the same problem even after downsizing to a more manageble file size. Each photo in the pan is originally 103MB. After resizing the 4 shots to 30MB each, I end up with a pan that is about 75MB in CS5 after cropping. When I highlight this pan & "get info" on my Mac desktop, the image size is 300-400 MB. I can ignore this for personal use, but if I have to send it to a client via the internet its a problem. I have made stitched pans with my D3s with no problem at all, so I guessing I have to switch cameras when I want to stitch shots together. If anyone has any more comments feel free!

  • Unable to open Raw files from Canon 6D in CS5 [was:camera raw]

  • Jpeg thumbnails too dark in CS5 bridge

All of a sudden my jpeg thumbnails appear very dark and muddy in CS5 bridge. Such images are of normal brightness when opened in Photoshop proper.
Equally puzzling is when a jpeg image is then "saved as" back to the same folder as a TIFF (for example) the jpeg looks dark but the TIFF version of the same file looks correct. RAW files still look correct.
This seems to be a recent problem as jpeg images I processed a few ago weeks ago still dislay normally in bridge.
I've tried purging the folder cache without effect. Thumbnail quality is set to "always high". I feel I may have accidentally altered a setting but cannot think wghat it might be. Please help.

Since my posting I have realised this problem is confined to images from the Nikon D800 camera ONLY. Jpegs from my other Nikon cameras display normally.
That does indeed not indicate to a cache problem alone. But you stated in your earlier post purging cache did solve the problem temporarily hence my idea about this solution.
I still think you should try to move the files to another new folder but you have provided us with very less detail about what computer, systemOS etc you are using and if you have the correct ACR version for support of your Nikon D800 which I believe is ACR 6.7 (in Photoshop use menu Photoshop / about Plug ins / Camera Raw to check which version you have.
Just to say I shoot RAW and batch convert to sRGB jpeg from ACR. It doesn't matter what size option I save to from ACR.
I don't follow this workflow, shooting Raw provides you with all details and data from your sensor but you need to go through them for fine tuning the settings. Shooting jpeg means you loose a lot of those details and let the camera software decide to fine tune for you (in a nutshell, it is a bit more complicated…)
Shooting Raw and without change settings and fine tune just convert these files to sRGB jpeg is in my opinion pointless. You better use the option to shoot Raw + jpeg and use the jpegs out of camera for this purpose.

  • 'Adjustment Brush' in CS5 Bridge

The adjustment brush in my CS5 Bridge is no longer working. Can some offer me a solution?

The adjustment brush in my CS5 Bridge is no longer working
This is a tool in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and ACR is a plug in that works in both Photoshop and Bridge. If you choose to open a file by pointing at it in the Bridge content panel it opens in ACR using Photoshop.
If you choose to Open In Camera Raw it opens in ACR using Bridge.
So first test both options, but it is likely you will get a better answer in the dedicated Camera Raw forum.

  • CS5 Bridge thumbs and previews do not color match ACR or Photoshop

In newly installed CS5 Bridge (part of Suite), thumbnails and previews are not reflecting the color adjustments in ACR or of the image in Photoshop itself.  High Quality is still default as is writing cache to folders.  I don't see the old cache files in the folders either.  CS4 did not exhibit this issue for me.  Upon opening a folder, or after purging cache, thumbs are initially displayed with saturated color, but only for a second or 2 until they are redrawn.  Other applications that I have been working with for years and use the image previews are not displaying properly now that I have CS5.  What's going on here?  It appears that I am looking at only the imbedded previews!

    Narrowing it
down...I am working with a MacBookPro, using 2 monitors,
There have been more issues with two monitors but I can't recall them
    exactly at this moment.
A few things that come to my mind, first check the Camera Raw preferences
and double check if the option Apply Autotone Adjustment is NOT checked.
There have also been issues with Open GL and 2 monitors but that should
effect the images in PS and not Bridge I would believe. Also see what your
main monitor is in the OS monitor preferences and try what happens if you
    change that order.

  • CS5 Bridge low on system resources

Everytime I open CS5 bridge and work on my camera raw files I get the foloowing error message: bridge low on system resources and needs to be closed. I never had this problem in CS4. I am running Windows XP Pro with 4gb of ram. I have talked to Adobe Tech support 3 times this week and have not been able to fix the problem. Is any one else having this problem?

I've experienced these exact same problems, and have been watching for anything useful to be added to this and one other thread.
I did install the update released by Adobe today (May 27) but unfortunately nothing has changed.
I was interested to read that you did not have these problems with CS4 (as I skipped that version and upgraded from CS3). So, it appears that this is a problem specific to CS5.
For now, my "workaround" is to abandon CS5 and go back to using CS3. NOT a great solution...or use of my money;but I have to get some work done!

  • Running both CS6 and CS5 bridge

I'm running CS5 bridge but using CS6 tools from the cloud tools.  I keep CS5 on board because CS6 Bridge is really useless for getting any work done.  I face major pauses when I try to use any of the menu buttons or try to right click on anything.  Usually at least 5 seconds.
So I just use CS5 which is very quick to respond to those kind of clicks.
I'm seeing one problem that is apparently related to having both versions:
    In CS6 Bridge:
When I set Edit/Camera Raw preferences/ Camera Raw Cache/ Select location
It also sets the same place for CS5 Bridge.  And Vise versa if I set it from CS5 it changes CS6 as well.
Somewhere they must be using the same configuration file.  Just at a guess I'd say that is not supposed to happen.
Can someone who knows more about the internal workings give me some advice about keeping  the different versions from sharing settings?

    Curt Y wrote:
CS6 and CS5 Bridge use different cache database.  So same location, different file.
By the way I pretty much do he same thing.  Even though CS6 Bridge is now 64 bit, it has too many pauses to do its job.  Most are related to building cache.
Yup, its way to aggravating and time wasting to try to use CS6. In my case, running CS5, the one draw back is that I don't have access to the PS CS6 batch processor, so if I have need of that, I have to put up with CS6 long enough to get that done.  Forutnately I don't use it all that often.. at least the recent projects I've undertaken have not necessitated it more than a few times.
Are you able to access the PS CS6 image processor from Bridge CS5? (Tools/photoshop/ And here you see several batching sort of tools including the Image Processor).  For me; when running CS5 the Tools menu does not have a "photoshop" entry at all.
I'm sort of jumping to a new topic here and hope you don't mind.  I wondered if you might have developed a numbered list of things one should try when having the stalling problem some users are seeing with CS6 bridge.  I would like to take one more systematic stab at getting a usable installation of CS6 bridge before resorting to the long and usually painful process of getting help from adobe.
It would really be handy if someone with your grasp of this tool could codify and distill down a step by step list of things to try to get CS6 bridge working better.
Your respones to me and to at least one other poster I've noticed (I'm sure there have been more) contain lots of different things to try but with my shortage of experience with this kind of troubleshooting I'm not sure what order to attempt things in.
